How To Dominate Without Even Dribbling!

  • At any level of basketball, most players only have the ball in their hands for less than 5% of the game. What will you be doing the rest of the game? Players like Klay Thompson, Ray Allen and Reggie Miller (although they were/are also fantastic with the ball) made their living off of scoring without even having to dribble! Check out how you can do it too...

    Spot up shooters are the most underrated, used-up and disrespected players we have. I start off bball as a spot up, but I always have teammates dribbling and ISO nonstop and chuck bricks (the REAL inefficient shotchuckers), and we're just used to fill their team and pass to us ONLY if we're VERY open. Even moving off ball, they just ISO. Which is why as a shooter, I HATE playing ball sometimes for this fact. So, I improved my dribbling and adapted streetball handles, where I took my own ball and break ankles. And when they guard me harder, I shoot over them. Thanks to ballhoggers, I became a BEAST

      Bro this happens to me most of the time. I work on dribbling and play 1v1s just to become more dimensional. However, my teammates don't allow me to score in most situations with the ball. They tell me to never dribble and run around. Matter of fact, I hate this because the other team would make the worst player to guard me since they know I'm not an iso scorer. I just don't have the efficient handles because I'm not born with the dribbling flow.

    • @Mrgoodkenneth
      @Mrgoodkenneth 3 года назад

      @@gboy7warriors121 Don't matter. Dont force train your handles, naturally dribble then pound the ball hard for hours. Trust me results will come when you feel like there's a difference. So when the worst player guards you, break his ankles and scare the whole team. (Yup, one year ago and I'm still here hahhah)

    • @Vortex_Feedz

      I love moving off ball cuz defenders get tired of running after me. But like you stated , even when I’m moving off ball , they still ISO🤦🏾‍♂️ a lot of times when I do get the ball , it’s a late pass and the defender has already closed out on defense 👎🏽

    Believe it or not, y'all, Ray Allen actually was a descent point-guard and showed flashes of a handle in the early years of his career. He developed a consistent, lights-out shooting facet of his game to allow him some semblance of longevity! Very cool and adaptive player.

It would be equally if not more useful to see guys who cut well and truly play with minimal touches of the ball with very few (if any) plays run for them: John Havlicek, Avery Bradley, JJ Redick (to name just a few, to varying degrees).

  • @markhathaway9456
    @markhathaway9456 3 года назад +1

    Great video. Just one thing, it isn't just "motion", it's motion to get in position to catch & shoot. If you run in circles you're going to have your back to the ball passer for some time. That's probably a good time to speed up and limit that, though you might catch near the basket and reverse layup. Old videos of Chris Mullin show him doing this a lot.
    One curious point, sometimes people suggest having the feet at an angle, especially for long shots. But, here the suggestion is to "square up". Curious.

    so I will be the only one running... and teammates are just there staying still... so I will end up crowding space instead of creating opening... so I just stop running
    effective off-ball movements really relies on having teammate who understand the simple concept of spacing... and the value of movements...
    and when I play street ball, it's hard to find people like that in my area... it's frustrating, because I love playing off-ball...

    can you do How To Dominate as a big men pls

    • @stealthknights
      @stealthknights 5 лет назад +1

      As a short reply, a lot of the knowledge one should know as a "big man" is positioning (both yourself and teammates), footwork (when you'll be in the low post), and just openness to learning. Expanding your game in the low post opens SO many options, not all of them scoring too. Some can set up teammates, where positioning knowledge will come in. Positioning also goes with knowing where your teammates will be, mainly the guards since you'll do things like setting screens (for PGs and SGs, or scoring options with forwards or whoever it might be in pick-up games randomly). Also, reading the defense. If you're setting a screen for your guard as an example, if both your defender and his come up to "hedge" the pick/screen you're setting to block off your guard, that means they see him as the threat and it gives you an opening to roll to the rim. If your guard/ball-nadler is any good, he'll see this and make the pass to you. You can grab an easy lay-up, or dunk depending on your ability LOL. And further in, if someone in the paint tries to cover you rolling to the rim, you pass it to the person HE was defending. I hope this sorta helps a bit as just general ideas typed-out lol, but good luck! - Just some young guy who plays a ton of pick-up and some city league games.

    people's memories are short and live in the moment. Lebron had a lot of help. Watching this should remind others how deadly miami heat was from the outside. Ppl make it seem like heat has no chance against the warriors and the warriors are unbeatable (rockets took them to 7 games and healthy cp3 I believe can beat them). lebron and wade can slow down curry, kd. battier can stick klay. Bosh can take draymond. iggy will have to stick ray allen. warriors might have 3 all time great 3 point shooters but rashard lewis, mike miller were some of the best 3 point shooters of that era. Even james jones and Battier are great 3 pt shooters. chris "birdman" anderson, haslem, joel anthony are tough bigs that can wear out cousins that just came back from acl injury. Warriors biggest achilles heel is turnover.chalmers and cole were also scrappy players that get steals on bigs. And lebron and wade's backcourt defense clamped down mvp drose.
