OHHHHH MY GODDDDDDD THIS WAS SO CRAZY!!!
Holy-- What a movie! Everything about this was absolutely bonkers, and with every scene things got more and more tense. I really enjoyed this film a lot, between the tense situations and the story and just how INSANE Annie was-- this was a ride.
Thanks for watching!

One of my favorite movies
Whew, I was so confused. My memory is so bad but I thought I had already watched this and being a Thursday I was really confused. Now that I know im not completely crazy ill watch it again anyway.
My favorite Steven King short story is
Battleground which was put to film in
Steven King's anthology series.
Nightmares and Dreamscapes.
It's less than an hour (52:47) long video. ruclips.net/video/ufOMa3_rYvI/видео.html
Wow, Having to re-upload this video must've been a real "misery"
I'll let myself out now.
@@nhaprophet THE DOOR IS TO YOUR LEFT! GOODBYEEEE! 🤣
Every time I watch this I say “HE DIDN’T GET OUT OF THE COCKADOODIE CAR” along with her. I legitimately cannot help myself lol
COCKA 👏 DOODIE 👏 CAR!!! 👏
I swear her eyes pop out. Brilliant acting.
Same! 100%😂😂
If you enjoyed Bates performance you need to see her in Dolores Claiborne. Stephen king wrote that novel with her in mind.
that's a great novel, and a great film adaptation of it. i think about it whenever i have to hang the sheets out on a cold morning- i dont use 12 pegs though LOL
Dolores Claiborne is easily my favorite Kathy Bates performance. She's incredible. She's always incredible. But that was something... else.
@@craigpacker7171 I have to say I agree 1M% . Delores Claiborne is my favorite Kathy Bates as well.... that performance deserved an Oscar , Emmy , and Best Leading actress.... imo . Her win for Best Actress in MISERY was well deserved.... totally believable.
I love that movie classic
💯💯💯💯💯
Kathy NAILED this role. Most deserved Oscar ever. She was legitimately terrifying
I wish there was a poster for Misery that said, "from the director of A Princess Bride, This is Spinal Tap, and When Harry Met Sally!"
Kathy Bates won an Oscar for this role.
Also, watch Dolores Claiborne, also with Bates, and from a novel by King.
After watching Misery one never forgets the term "hobbling" 😦
Everyone harps on Cathy Bates acting, and yes it was a master class of acting. Personally though, I was equally impressed by James Caan's ability to show such depth of emotion and exude his thoughts, feelings and the reflections of his situation, just through subtle facial movements. He didn't need words or body movements , his face reflected everything.
They were both fantastic. I think this is my favourite James Caan performance of all.
I just can't picture James Caan as a writer.
That's just silly.
@@Gravydog316 Why is that? He has played everything from a criminal, a mafia member, football player, thief, a cop, a publisher, heck he's been in 118 movies, why not a writer?
KNOW this; She was FAR more brutal to him in the book.
Also:
Sadly, It's become apparent that when it comes to 'copyright issues'... 'Logic' obviously isn't how YT decides things so using a convincing logical argument against them is unlikely be effective.
How do you get even more brutal than this?
@@RedK5 IF you genuinely want the answer to that question...
It IS in the book, Read it.😎
I always remember the line, "My penguin always faces due South." It's so scary for her to mention he's been caught!
For an excellent movie from a Steven King story you should watch Stand By Me (1986). And a really good movie also staring Kathy Bates based on a Stephen King novel is Dolores Claiborne (1995).
A wonderful movie based on a book by Fannie Flagg is Fried Green Tomatoes (1991) also staring Kathy Bates. I'm sure you would enjoy it.
I second ALL of these!
Fried Green Tomatoes!! Yes
the novel is interspersed with passages from the novel that Paul Sheldon writes while being held captive. It's so good it makes you wish Stephen King would have actually written the entire thing and published it under Paul's name
if memory serves, the book goes into annie's killings during her time as a nurse a little more. i think she started with people who were old and/or dying already and kinda...just kept going down the line until she got to babies that were definitely not in danger otherwise. she also didn't believe babies had souls yet, i think is what the book said? so it didn't bother her to kill them.
I love how the climax of this film almost seems unavoidable: a knockout, dragout no holds barred one on one death match.
This is an excellent movie, but my favourite Stephen King movie adaptation is still The Dead Zone with Christopher Walken. It's so good.
Dr Sleep or Gerald’s game are amazing too
Needful Things is also really strong (Dead Zone is indeed 🔥). Weird that *most* King adaptations to film suck.
My favorite is Rose Red due to how it messes with the mind.
the _ICE._ Is gonna _BREAK!_
I recommend the book, as well. It's incredibly tense and oppressive.
This movie is incredibley intense. There will never be a Thriller like this again, it's one of the best King adaptations since Cujo, Carrie and The Mist. (based on the books).
There is only one movie that makes me more "uncomfortable"...is The Silence of the Lambs. Masterpiece.
I think the Shawshank Redemption also qualifies! :)
Green Mile.
Oh, and Gerald's Game, too! Of course, I am insanely in love with Mike Flanagan and psychological horror/thriller, so take that with a grain of salt
Stand By Me (based off 'The Body') was a good adaptation too.
9:41 “Oh, your husband left you, oh” I DIED 😂 love your reactions!!!
I got home from work and started scrolling. This pops up and I'm immediately happy!!
As I am seeing this reaction right now, and James Caan has died a few months ago, Kathy Bates and Rob Reiner (the director of this movie) said in honor of him and i quote:
"I can't believe Jimmy's gone. Working with him on Misery was one of the most profound experiences of my career. When you watch his performance, his terror, it's as though he's watching a snake. Brilliant."
"So many memories flooding back today. Jimmy saying, 'Let's get the most hyper guy in Hollywood and make him stay in bed for 15 weeks.' We were so excited when we got to shoot in the dining room. He was kind. Hilarious. He would have something insightfully funny to say right now. I'm bereft. Sending all my love to the Caan family." Kathy Bates
"So sorry to hear the news. I loved working with him. And the only Jew I knew who could calf rope with the best of them. Love to the family." Rob Reiner
REST IN PEACE JAMES CAAN.
Kathy Bates was just so brilliant in this movie. Well deserved Oscar win too. She played a great villain.
This has to be my favorite reaction to Misery I've seen. I laughed throughout so funny. "Oh you're husband left you huh..." lol
Aww I'm so glad!! Thank you!
In regards to your disbelief that anyone would survive being brained by a typewriter, in the novel it is made explicit that the hemorrhage and skull fracture from the initial hit was what ultimately did Annie in even if she was tough enough to require a bit extra killing to put her down.
LOVELY
"Here, you want it? YOU WANT IT? Eat it! Eat it 'till you choke, you sick twisted f***!"
- One of my brother's favorite lines ever.
Comment for the algorithm. Loved watching the reaction the first time, keep up the great content, don't let the copyright keep you down!
If you're interested in seeing a little more of Annie (and a version of the events that led up to the novel/movie), it's really worth checking out season 2 of "Castle Rock" (you don't need to have seen the first season of the series, and season 2 is an entirely self contained story).
The younger Annie is played by Lizzie Caplan, who is absolutely incredible in the role. Caplan's Annie is both eerily reminiscent of Bates' performance, but is also very much her own take on the character too.
Totally agree with you! I love the way the incorporated the Stephen King stories in season 2
I always assumed that when he read the quote from the book, he knew he had heard it before. Couldn't remember where. Annie was from there, so you know the whole town followed her trial. Just thought he finally remembered where he had heard it before.
James Caan and Kathy Bates are both amazing in this movie adaptation of Stephen King's novel. Excellent movie, and great reaction as always!
Love your reaction to some of my favorite movies! Bates got an Oscar for this performance. Well deserved.
It is eerie to me that I know and have come across people exaclty like Kathy Bates' character in Misery. If you've been through enough trauma from abusers or any person with a dark triad personality, the tells of their insanity, from their body and verbal language, are almost instantly recognizable. She did such a fantastic job here.
This is part of the Trifecta of AMAZING Steven King movies. Those being Misery, The Green Mile, and The Shawshank Redemption.
Well yeah I rewatched the heck out of that. Partly for enjoyment but mostly out of spite.
"I would say to run, but you literally can't."
🤣🤣🤣
Glad you enjoyed!!
I was confused at first when I saw the notification, but then I read the description. Totally worth a re-watch.
Yeahhhh, sucks but it is what it is
Fun fact in the film she broke her feet with a sledgehammer, in the book, she chopped them off with a axe.
These are some of your best reactions ever! Your facial expressions especially are just hilarious!
By the way, the hobbling scene in the novel is MUCH WORSE. Instead of taking a sledgehammer to his ankles, Annie chops off Paul's left foot with an ax and cauterizes the stump with a blowtorch, then cuts off his thumb with an electric carving knife!
Holy... Shhhhh.... wow. I had no idea.
oh, good. somebody else mentioned the hobbling/thumb removal scenes. good lord that book was brutal. so good, though.
The special candles...
Paul is really, really lucky that he didn't end his last Misery book with a time jump, making it impossible to bring the character back without "cheating".
Rewatching this reaction was just as good as the first time.
I'M YOUR #1 FAN 😈
Kathy Bates is a queen. This role is tricky with the extreme highs and lows of Annie. Romantic to scheming to deadly. I am a huge fan of hers. She is in three King movies, maybe more. The Stand (a small part) and Dolores Claiborne, another Oscar worthy performance. So glad you enjoyed it! This was fun for a first dive into your channel!
I've seen this movie so many times, that I can just listen to your audio.
Oh this is the movie reaction I didn't realise I needed to see but OMG I am so here for it!!
The book is even more freaky because all of the "action" is going on inside of his head. Some serious psychological drama going on in there.
In the book, it wasn't a sledge hammer, it was an axe. Yep.
Kathy Bates is amazing in everything she's ever been in, but particularly so in this role. This is a fantastic depiction of what severe bipolar, and borderline personality disorder looks like.
I knew you would scream at the top of your lungs with this one.
I love finding a new youtuber I like so much I end up marathon watching all of their content. You're hilarious & relatable & adorable. Welcome to my Comfort RUclipsrs roster. Keep it up!
P.S. Is Patreon the place to make movie requests?
Ahhh you’re too kind stop that!! Thank you so much for your lovely comment, I truly appreciate you and I’m happy you enjoy my content!
In regards to Patreon, there is a specific tier on there that’s for requesting a film per month BUT it is currently sold out! (I can only do so many recordings a month 🤪) The general $5 tier I have is for access to weekly polls and the full unedited versions to reaction videos!
The pills were just ordinary painkillers. Not even sure his "cocktail" would have incapacitated her even if she had drunk it, unless it was some morphine derivate.
The sheriff and deputy was such a cute couple. :(
Eh A Home of Our Own to me is Kathy Bates drawing in performance. Wholesome.
Now just remember that Rob Reiner made When Harry Met Sally right before this one.
So, Wilkes has two interesting origins. Don't quote me on this, though; I can always be misinformed.
Toxic fans are the obvious ones. Before writing Misery, Stephen King had encountered a massive backlash for breaking out of his usual genres and writing The Eye of the Dragon, a sword and sorcery novel meant for his kids. But the other, less obvious influence was one of his oldest... addiction.
It's an open non-secret that King is an alcoholic but he had been sober for years until he experienced a near fatale car accident, and during his hospitalization, he fell off the wagon by becoming dependent upon the painkillers he was being treated with.
Wilkes being a caregiver and an abuser but also what ironically and twistedly inspired Sheldon to write again is an allegory for King's constant battle for his health when paradoxically feeling his best work happens when he is off the wagon. Like, I remember reading a quote about how proud he was with Cujo, how he loves that story, but how unfulfilled it left him because he was completely sober writing it and doesn't even remember the experience. Meanwhile, he has books written while drunk, and he *hates them* , but he remembers how much fun it was to actually write them so the experience felt more worth it in the end.
I so thoroughly enjoyed your reaction!! You were on this great rollercoaster ride with all of the low pitched sounds and especially the SQUEALS!!!! This one of the best reactions I have seen of this movie and I enjoyed every minute of it!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
You’re too kind!! Thanks so much ♥️
@@OGBReacts You're welcome!! You deserve it!!!
Well if everyone else is going to suggest movies based on Stephen King stories, I’ll go with Secret Window starring Johnny Depp 👍 Awesome movie
And just a side note: As an author myself, Misery is my absolute worst nightmare lol 😂
glad to see this video back up!! I know that copyright shit must be super frustrating for you
If you want to see Kathy Bates's acting range in another Stephen King movie, you gotta watch Delores Claiborne...another stellar performance and top notch Stephen King movie.
She was great as Ray the political radio host in The Stand tv series. It was a brief cameo role, but she was fantastic in this brief little role.
1. Driving a Mutange in the snow like that is beyond stupid. (it's necessary I know to make the crash happen).
2. Red flag #1: Anyone that says "Oogie"
3. Virginia/Francis Sternhagan had a prominent role in Stephen King's "The Mist"
You MUST first time/share. The ending will blow your mind😱
4. The way she responded to the fire in the BBQ pit when he threw a match on the book:
What do you expect?
5. In the book Annie chops his feet off (not just hobbling him). It IS Stephen King after all.
6.Kathy Bates won Best Actress Oscar.
I have seen this movie a few times. First was when it first came out. That hobbling part kills me every time. ACK! Kathy Bates is one of my favs. She can do anything! Loved your commentary/review! Check out Fried Green Tomatoes. It's another awesome movie with Kathy Bates and Jessica Tandy. not scary or horror, just an excellent movie.
OMG YOU WOULD LOVE FRIED GREEN TOMATOES!!!!!!!! A film about gal pals before the director would admit it's about gal pals
I've been enjoying your commentaries! Misery is great, and I really liked what you had to say about it in your reaction.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed!
I saw this movie back when it first came out and I can't go thru that disturbing experience again. 😰
"Right on the cork board...we'll get to it...at some point 👉🏻" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I DIED!!!!!! THAT WAS HILARIOUS!!!! Your hokey accent cracked me up!
Also, on a completely different note for film genres, you should watch 'Finding Neverland'- I am somewhat surprised that people haven't reacted to it but it's a GEM!
🤣🤣🤣
RIGHT ON THE CORK BOARD!
My Fave reaction! Thank you for re-posting, I know it was a pain :)
Ahh nah it didn't take too long to re-edit so all is good
This is one of my most cherished movies but I have to tell you, the book is far superior and Annie is even MORE nuts than what they could put in the movie.
I'd kill for a remake but ONLY if Kathy Bates plays Annie.
Your reaction at 11:15 always cracks me up 😭😂 sorry for all the trouble having to re edit and re post. Leaving a like and comment is the least I can do 👍🏼 love your videos 🥰
i just sat down at my workbench to start for the day and this pops up! yassssssss!! Thanks for the upload, love having you keep me company with a great film while i work. The OG 80s Pet sematary is scary AF- almost put me off having kids LOL
Had so much fun watching this reaction! As always, thanks for sharing.
Another AMAZING reaction! "I would say to run but you literally can't" is one of the best lines I have heard from you. So true! And that was early on, you just get better! Also, when you realize Misery was killed and thought of it.."Is she gonna snap when she gets to the end" why, what led you to think of that! TEEHEEHEE - "I f....ing called it! AHHHHHH" and your face. You are pure entertainment and I adore you. If you ever need a bonus mama, let me know 'cause I will fill out the application for it :) I have 4 kids plus 2 bonus daughters :)
🤣🤣🤣
Thanks so much! So glad you enjoyed! Movies like these make me say whatever comes to my mind 🤣
Been on a Misery reaction binge! You read my mind lol
The "Hobaling" part broke my soul, but your reactions were the same as mine the first time. Steven Kings leaves everything a little open at the end. There's a chance ... just keep reading.
Kathy won Best Actress Oscar for this movie. Well deserved. James Caan should have at least been nominated. Three Stephen King movies down, many more to go. The Shining is a true horror movie. Thanks for reacting to this movie.
Also, poor writer, think about it. 18 months after it all happened, he is actually seeing Annie as the waitress coming to the table with her knife. I believe that poor guy is going to be jumping at shadows and imagining Annie for the rest of his effing life!
TRAUMA!
I love this movie and its my favorite Stephen King movie. I love watching peoples reactions to it and yours was awesome, it made you feel all oooogie as Annie Wilkes would say lol.
That waitress is the freakiest part of the movie lol
"Play 'Misty' For Me" was the predecessor to this film in the "obsessed fan's genre. Early 70s film directed by and starring Clint Eastwood.
still suspenseful, thank you for the reaction 🤠
There have been some night nurses that believe they are doing a mercy killing with either meds or putting a pillow over the head . Most of the known ones were in the late 60’s and early 70’s they believed they were doing mercy killings. There is always someone in history that inspires the horror genre. We had a second grade teacher in one of the small towns that I grew up in that could easily be the Kathy bates character, but instead of pigs she had goats.
You are excellent at watching movies and predicting what is going to happen, etc.
Those old typewriters are cast iron, its like getting hit by a kettlebell. Also check out Play Misty for Me (1971) starring Clint Eastwood
James Cann one of my favorites. Steven King favorite writer. Kathy Bates.YES.
The hobbling scene.. That was the appropriate reaction there..
4:42 "That seems like a good system. Right on the _cork_ board. 'We'll get to it at _some_ point.'"
Well now, remember, Sam, this story is based in the late '80's and this is a small _town._
Because it was so long ago, the computers generally available on the market tended to be nowhere _near_ as advanced and sophisticated as the computers available _today._ By and large, people still looked at them as _luxuries_ and _novelties._
And small towns tend to be places in which everyone knows _everyone,_ so there tends not to be much _crime._ This is why this one in _particular_ is able to make due with such a small _police_ department. A _single_ sheriff, a _single_ deputy and that's _it._
Gloria, on the TV show _Modern Family,_ is from a small town. In one episode, she remarked that, back in Colombia, her town had to bring _in_ a stranger so they could point to _him_ to teach the children who not to _talk_ to.
I echo others sentiments, you definitely need to see Dolores Claiborne next for another amazing Stephen King movie starring Kathy Bates! She’s so good in everything!!
OG! OMG! Fantastic reaction!!! Watching you react is more entertaining than the movie! You are so animated, excited and have so much FUN your just so infectious! In a good way, not in a nasty Covid kind of way! 😊
I only wish the sherrif would have survived. I love how he and his wife were so funny together ❤
Sorry I'm gushing so much, it's just because.... I'm your #1 fan! 😉
🤣🤣🤣
So glad you enjoyed! Thank you!
I loved this reaction. I love all your reactions, really. I'm your number one fan.
😂😂😂
Stephen King is a genius..he has awesome horror masterpiece novels like IT, The Shining, Pet Sematary, Cujo, The Stand, Misery, Salem's Lot, Carrie, Christine, Doctor Sleep, The Mist, a bunch of awesome horror short stories like Popsy and The Night Flier and Sometimes They Come Back and several others and then he writes awesome horror like Storm Of The Century...but then he has awesome masterpiece non horror like The Shawshank Redemption ("Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" is the story's title found in his book "Different Seasons" made up of several short stories), Stand By Me ("The Body" is the story's title also found in "Different Seasons"), The Green Mile, and Dolores Claiborne. And then his magnum opus "The Dark Tower" series of novels which is made up of so many different genres...Stephen King is my favorite author/writer of all time and I really do think he's the best of his time..he's the master of horror but also the master of writing in general. The thing I like most about his work is that almost all of his novels, novellas, and short stories are connected in some form or fashion.
I hated The Dark Tower movie because it's so mashed together and it confuses non readers so much. I didn't like Roland's race swap either. No hate to Idris Elba, he's a great actor, but I wanted the gunslinger to look like he does in the books. I wouldn't care if his friends like Alain or Cuthbert were race swapped though.
Probably one of the only characters that I wanted to go into the movie and hit her with the typewriter myself. lol. DINGGGGGGGGGG, DINGGGGGGGGGGGG🤣
There was a brief stretch during which Stephen King wanted to see if he could _duplicate_ his success with a name with which no one was familiar. So he wrote several books under the pen name "Richard Bachman."
One of them was _The Running Man_ which would go on to be made into the movie _Running Man,_ in which Schwarzenegger played the title character.
I actually read the book before I watched the movie, and I can tell you, the ending is _profoundly_ different. Both are good, so consider both recommended, but the _ending_ changes.
Another great suspenseful movie is DEAD CALM with Nicole Kidman, Sam Neill and Billy Zane. Give it a bit of love reactors!
I'm loving your channel more and more!❤️
Thanks so much!!
The most animated I've seen you lol. It's a great film
I watched this movie when I was way to young. She was in my Hell Naw category along with MJs Thriller until I matured and it’s Iconic with a chefs 💋
Wow! Your reactions and commentary for MISERY was so great! I enjoyed this with your reactions and comments more than I did the first time I watched this movie. It's not really a movie I think about when I think of ones I enjoy a lot but this was exceptionally well made from the writing , acting , script, and plot... I was invested . It was obvious that you were invested in this movie.... I agreed with all your reactions and comments here.
Now I am really looking forward to seeing your reactions and comments for "Delores Clairborne"~ 1995 I like "Delores Claiborne" much more than MISERY and that is saying a lot. I must have watched MISERY with my mom at least three times... Kathy Bates is one of my favorite actresses . Now the actor playing Paul Sheldon is James Caan and he has been a favorite actor of mine since I was a teenager.... I would have liked to have seen him in more movies than he has been in . I also am really looking forward to seeing your reactions and comments for the Quintin Tarantino films "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood"~ 2019 and "Death Proof"~ 2007... hoping they come up in the polls soon. Thank you so much for this and I am looking forward to many more movies here .
Sheesh. It’s 4:30 am and here I am watching you instead of sleeping. Long day tmrw. Hahahahaha. Let’s do this….
I have so many of Stephen king movies & this one your looking at his my all time favorite one, great reaction sweetheart also love your cool t shirt

"She's a f**king nut!" P
Fair synopsis. 🤣
Yes! Finally! One of the best movies ever! I love it when you get that quizzical, suspicious look on your face. When he’s driving on the snowy road I could see your mind working and I actually said out loud, “Yep, yep! You’re right!” lol Please watch Stand By Me. Not scary but based on a novella by Stephen King. If you don’t like it I might have to go up to my tv and flick you on the forehead. lol It was so powerful to me when I saw it when I was a kid.
The movies based on his novellas and short stories are always my favorites.
At the end of the novel she calls him a fucking asshole and not a dirty birddie. Just before he kills her. Another thing in the novel she cut off his foot with an axe 🪓 😳.
Love it, keep it up, don't them get you down!
Ok. I am having a weird deja vu of you watching this before. I swore I did...but I'm getting old.
I am SOOO excited to see you react to this, cuz you always give great reactions. So.....pressing play. Yay🤗
I did indeed react to this, but RUclips took it off due to copyright, unfortunately! So this is a re-edit/reupload!
@@OGBReacts Oh thank god. I thought I was going crazy...well, I am but that's besides the point. Ha ha😆
Im watching it again.
