I’m in the middle of your vid so I apologize if I say something you mention. I bought my mountain wrench set from a cornwell rep as a cheaper alternative to their cornwell branded ones. Broke one and by this time years had past, at a new job with a different cornwell rep that told me I was pretty much SOL as he doesn’t carry them, cornwell doesn’t warranty them, etc. so I had to hunt down the cornwell rep that sold me them to get them swapped out. Now I don’t use them as a go to anymore as I’m concerned with breaking one and having to hunt down the rep again Other companies that rebrand these are Matco, cornwell, and sk
That's why I bought the icon set from harbor freight. No question about the lifetime warranty there. Plus I was able to save 25 percent yesterday so I only paid 182 including tax.
You have no idea how much you're video has helped me out. I used the mountain set of wrenches at one of my friends shop and he couldn't remember where he got them from but I loved the tool. I've been researching mountain all over but I couldn't find anything. I'm so glad you have this video because it has cleared things up so much for me. 👍👍👍
They Carlyle, Mountain, and Gearwrench units look pretty much the same but NAPA has their Carlyle units built with better steel. I didn’t believe that at first until a NAPA tool rep tested all three brand new out of the box. Both the Gearwrench and Mountain wrenches busted from the test but the Carlyle was no worse for wear, The Carlyle wrenches are higher priced but there’s a legitimate reason for that.
Out of all the Napas around me, and tjere is quite a few, none of them carry Carlyle tools, you have to order them. Honestly, I can order Proto for the same price or slighty more expensive. So...
Icon has this exact same set. $120 with coupon, lifetime warranty.Think I’m gonna pick up a set. I like the GearWrench you linked but like Tekton they are flat faced. Appreciate the video!
I also bought a used set of Mountain wrenches off of eBay from the same "Kooky" seller out of Florida for $45. I didn't realize how the warranty actually worked or that there was almost no info about Mountain online either. I thought maybe a few wrenches were either gonna be locked up or the flex head would be a little loose. Three of the wrench ends had broken pins and the ears were Fubar. Two of the wrenches had loose flex heads, but remarkably all the ratchet heads still worked smooth. Being a 5 percenter, I contacted the seller and he sent me out another set that were near mint and told just to keep the old ones. I bought the Mountain wrench holder brand new on eBay for $8. If I had to buy them new I would get the Carlyle on sale.
Good news. Harbor freight just released these under the Icon brand. Not in all stores just yet. You can see a review of them on CatusMaxus’s channel. I wish a waited a month to buy them as I just bought the mountain set a few weeks ago. Might return them and go with icon
I’ve seen my coworker had a set of the platinums and right away I knew I wanted a set myself. I will be purchasing the mountains here soon. I can very much so make them useful in my box!
The new ez red double box ends also fall under this same wrench. It's amazing how much money you can save with a little research, I tried getting the 1st quarter real deal on the Carlyle but I was late to the game and couldn't track a set down. Nappa I love there order process I hate. I got a brand new set of mountain wrenches and heard of the warranty woes we will see what happens.
I’ve got an independent dealer that said he’ll warranty those Mountain for my buddy who got them. He’s been afraid to use them because he got them off Amazon and wot be able to warranty them. That dealer also said he’ll warranty my Grey Pneumatic sockets, another brand I like but can be tough to warranty. On another note, I wish I could find a deal on those Carlyles that all y’all seem to find. I can’t find those for less than $325 or so. Have you had luck with Napa deals the past year or so? It seems like their specials are mostly trash. I like their tools, but a lot of them are damn near truck prices.
The wrenches look great. But when you have to buy them the price is just to much for a DIYer for sure. The guarantee usually is no guarantee, you break it you rebuy it. Just whoever wants to do the right thing and take care of a customer. Good information on the wrenches.
I have ton I mean ton of tools you name it but I was working on Honda transmission and I need to take off the buttery holder to Ritchie the bolts without going under the van and I need that long ratcheting wrench the one I don’t have you just reminded me thank you
I did my son's Camry a while back,i didn't have a set of these yet, that one bolt that runs right next to the AC line towards the back of the motor,my God man, something that literally should have taken 30 seconds took me an hour
Guy Connell sometimes you can’t get the bite on the open end depending on how the nut is set. And a 12 point that bites in more locations is the only way to go
I buy them through my snap on dealer. I could have bought them $50 cheaper on amazon, but my warranty process involves me walking on his truck and just swapping it out 😂
Great video thanks brother. I wish they had them years ago. I could have saved some time. The NAPA here just had a parking lot sale. I didn't get to go but wish I could have. Them look like some nice wrenches. Keep up the great work see you in the next video thanks again brother
I had a Napa I have been to ask for my receipt. I didn't have it but I showed them my online account which showed I ordered it online for pickup and that was enough for them. but the Napa I usually use never asks they just warranty it.

So if a guy wants to get a double box flex head ratchet wrench set from Matco, the Mountain wrench set is pretty much the same thing, just rebranded?
That's why I bought the icon set from harbor freight.
No question about the lifetime warranty there.
Plus I was able to save 25 percent yesterday so I only paid 182 including tax.
as of 1/9/23 the Napa set is $411 the Icon set is $224 and so far as i know the icon set is no questions asked replacement.

Ah man the good old days. That wrench set now sells for $476 at napa if it's even in stock

IMHO I would have liked to see these in a six point version.
....yep six point the better ✌
Icon has this exact same set. $120 with coupon, lifetime warranty.Think I’m gonna pick up a set. I like the GearWrench you linked but like Tekton they are flat faced. Appreciate the video!
How do you get the icon coupon?
Ever done torque converter bolts on an engine that's locked solid. These things do wonders.

I'm glad that worked out for you! The seller I dealt with was out of Wisconsin.
Good news. Harbor freight just released these under the Icon brand. Not in all stores just yet. You can see a review of them on CatusMaxus’s channel. I wish a waited a month to buy them as I just bought the mountain set a few weeks ago. Might return them and go with icon
I recall they were $115.99 at Napa for the Q1 real deals. They sold out in most places and I picked up this set 👍🏼
Same here!
I’ve seen my coworker had a set of the platinums and right away I knew I wanted a set myself. I will be purchasing the mountains here soon. I can very much so make them useful in my box!
Just make sure you purchase them from a reputable vendor and you're good to go.
Great wrenches for the Honda Toyota etc

Nice to see you posting videos again! Now lets see that toolbox tour of that Homak
Getting there!
Mark Fox I second that!!!

A good buddy of mine was just telling me how much he loves these wrenches!
They are definitely a timesaver!
Klutch from Northern Tools has a very nice selection of these types of wrenches with lifetime warranty.
Good information!
I dont believe they come in a set though
I have ton I mean ton of tools you name it but I was working on Honda transmission and I need to take off the buttery holder to Ritchie the bolts without going under the van and I need that long ratcheting wrench the one I don’t have you just reminded me thank you
One of those tools that you don't know how bad you need them until you use them the first time.
Perfect for the offset bolts and you say. Interesting design. Also very good information about the warranty. Kind of tricky.
Thanks, Wyatt.
Harbor freight sells them under icon screw buying off a truck I'm broke
The tool truck response is such a cop out for people.
I did my son's Camry a while back,i didn't have a set of these yet, that one bolt that runs right next to the AC line towards the back of the motor,my God man, something that literally should have taken 30 seconds took me an hour
I've been there. I feel your pain.
great video good point about reset bolts maybe have to buy a set
They can be a lifesaver.
I really like my Gearwrench set.
But i can see them coming in handy from time to time.
I've heard a lot of good things about that Gearwrench set, Dave.
If it's not broken fix it They’re all made by the same factory in Taiwan.
I’ve been wanting a set of those for years but damn they’re expensive
I think the regular price on the Carlyle set is in the high $200 range. Makes $115 look good!
They go on sale on thier quarterly flyers.
...uhmm..That 12 points bite the nuts...all around...But, I like the style..Six point it would be great..!! ✌
The "better solution" is simply to break the bolt loose with the non-ratcheting end.
Guy Connell sometimes you can’t get the bite on the open end depending on how the nut is set. And a 12 point that bites in more locations is the only way to go
Matco has the same wrenches. They warranty them no problem
I buy them through my snap on dealer. I could have bought them $50 cheaper on amazon, but my warranty process involves me walking on his truck and just swapping it out 😂
Worth it!
Great video thanks brother. I wish they had them years ago. I could have saved some time. The NAPA here just had a parking lot sale. I didn't get to go but wish I could have. Them look like some nice wrenches. Keep up the great work see you in the next video thanks again brother
Thanks, Scott. I went from 12 hours to 4 hours on the two timing belt jobs, largely thanks to these wrenches.
Even bluepoint (snap on) rebrand this set of spanners
How much is a good price for used set? Thanks
Best wrenches ever
does these wrenches round off fastners?
Correct me if im wrong, but does harbor freight have these under icon label?
Alot of times Napa won't warranty the tools they sell. They want you to mail it in.
I own several Napa stores and that is not true....whoever told you that or tried to tell you that is flat out lying
I have the mountain set
That’s that a nice set of wrenches 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼✌🏼
I really do appreciate how much of a timesaver they are. Thanks, Frankie!
Nice tools. Subbed👍
Thanks, buddy.
Great information
Thanks, man.
Are you really really back?!?!
One day at a time, my friend!
Great video mdlee52
"sana magkaroon ako ng mga tools na ganto. . .pahingi namn poh ako ng tools moh sir kahit tatlo lng poh.
Well now I want to throw my mountain wrenches in the garbage lol
You can send them over here!
@@mdlee52 lol I'm scared I'm gonna have to wrestle some to get them warrantied now!!
Some napa require receipts.
Interesting. I've never dealt with that.
@@mdlee52 I myself haven't either but others have. I guess it depends on which napa and which counter person you get.
I had a Napa I have been to ask for my receipt. I didn't have it but I showed them my online account which showed I ordered it online for pickup and that was enough for them. but the Napa I usually use never asks they just warranty it.
Never been to
Lmao you put a timer on your videos
I'm telling you, that's just how a couple of these ended up.
Soe- made in the motherf'n USA.
I figured a couple of people would recognize that.
Great video mdlee52
