I ended up with a set of Tekton metric long flex ratcheting double box-ended wrenches. I really like that they are 6-point, and they are a good addition (along with other types) to a basic set of combination wrenches. Keep up with the videos, you're doing a great job. I really enjoy watching them and hearing your reasoning as you make your choices. Do consider getting a wireless lavalier mic though, like a Rode Go or some such. It will take the technical quality of your videos up a notch.
How do you like the long flex? I didn’t get those because I was worried I’d be limited since they are longer but I bet the added leverage is nice. After your last comment about the audio I paid more attention and you’re totally right. As I move around the camera it’s changing the audio and volume in one ear over the other. I’ll definitely try to make this better in upcoming videos.
@@projectkarr The mic suggestion was meant in a totally constructive and encouraging manner, of course. I think having some stubbies and long wrenches compliment a standard set of combos, and I also was looking for some ratcheting wrenches, and so I decided to kill two birds with one stone and get the long flex ratchets. The extra length can come in handy when I have the room and need a little more leverage, but I am also careful not to put too much torque on them, since they are ratcheting wrenches and will never be as strong as solid wrenches.
@@rogerhassell3212 ya totally, I appreciate the feedback because I want to continue to improve the quality of my videos. I did have a pin shear on my 19mm flex head but that was after more than twice the torque I could put on by hand. Thankfully a new one is already on the way.
I've got Craftsman, Husky, Milwaukee and a few off brand sets (Stanley, etc) for random places (camper, fishing boat, etc) and all sorts of wrenches...but it wasn't until recently I started debating about getting myself a decent set of ratcheting wrenches. My biggest delay in selecting a set was durability, so...long story short, I really appreciate you taking the time to torture test a few brands and I'll be looking forward to your video!
Make sure to also look at warrantee. As I found out, not all lifetime warrantees are the same. Video got a little held up but should be live in a few days.
Found your channel when researching Tekton tool, your reviews helped a lot. Would like to hear more about the differences between “Tool truck” tools and the DIY type tools. You’ve touched on it a little but want to learn more.
I don't have those wrenches, but other ratcheting wrenches from Gearwrench. They switched from made in Taiwan to made in China and the quality difference is VERY noticeable. I have dealt with support for replacement of multiple of my ratcheting wrenches and am overall very disappointed with the newer releases. I no longer have any interest in Gearwrench is they continue down this path of cheaply made tools.
This video was what I was looking for. I am looking for a new set of wrenches, and your video is covering the manufacturers I would buy from and you are looking at more than just one manufacturer.
Great comparison. I have a lot of the old Craftsman as well. My go too for wrenches has been Gearwrench. Tekton is a new brand to me, but really intrigued. As a professional home owner and want to be DIYer, I enjoy having the best value tools. Again... Thank you for what you do.
I got the Tekton double box ratcheting wrenches. They are more cost effective, most everyone has combination wrenches, so having an open end is a waste.
If you don't have a full set of 6 point wrenches, one advantage would be being able to get a 6 point on both sides (assuming different sizes) where with the double box you might not have that choice. This is assuming you needed less space above the nut or bolt where a socket wouldn't fit. Maybe I don't run into this every day, but it's nice when you do. A set of 6 point combination wrenches would be nice, sometimes I need a thin 6 point to avoid stripping a fastener.
You can adjust how much they pivot by tightening the small screw on the wrench. I set my Milwaukee wrenches at 10-15 degrees and lock it with the screw.
I have several Tekton. Warranty has been great. I have broken 2 of their universal sockets. Just email them a picture and the replacement were in the mail that night. No need to return the broken one.
As far as the Husky/HD situation, you can obviously have the set shipped to your local store for pick up. Then all you have to do is warranty the single Wrench, which I'm sure they have on the shelves. I know they have the single wrenches at two of my local stores.
Ya I was trying to draw a line somewhere since ordering online would have opened the door to tons of other brands. Depending on how this channel goes, I hope to have some comparisons in the future using more brands. And surprisingly I went to 3 Home Depot’s and I couldn’t even find a single individual flex ratcheting wrench. They had quite a few normal ratcheting wrenches, but no flex. Not sure if that’s because they aren’t as popular or because they sell out quickly.
I have had too many times I have been in a pinch to help those I respect as my family... so I went with a 'tradesmen style' setup with my tools. Tekton has been there to keep my " family" going. It gets the job done.
I just started looking into tekton as well. Although my research has also been showing kobalt to be head and shoulders above husky and very comparable to tekton if not better . Those kobalts in your video are 90 tooth vs the tekton 72 tooth, both made in Tawain now so build quality is the same from what I have heard.
That may be the case with their ratcheting wrenches, but most Kobalt tools are way lower quality than Tekton. Also, with Kobalt you will not get a complete set. And it’s a fact that the warranty with Kobalt is absolutely terrible. I quit buying their stuff and now mostly buy Tekton, Gearwrench, and other entry level professional brands.
Tekton just sent me a replacement 3/8 breaker bar I broke over a year ago (my fault) taking off tightened lignuts. Sent a photo and 30 mins later received a tracking number. Got here in 3 days. Can't beat their warranty hands down
I know this is a old video but a few comments on the tools. Gear Wrench seems to have more and more issues with quality. I'm not sure if it is a different manufacturer or possibly production speed increase, have no clue. Tekton is doing very well, I continue to be impressed and own some. They continue to add more in house tools, meaning American made. Plus the best and easiest warranty on the market. Kobalt is not expanding their tool line at all it seems. Craftsman is just floundering along. Milwaukee is killing it lately. I just watched a video testing strength on flex head ratcheting wrenches. His torque meter only went to 150 ft lbs but it never even strained. Their wrenches, both styles, feel great in hand, excellent quality although a little more expensive is literally pushing tool truck level. Capri tools isn't bad but their warranty sucks, well, how you have to use it anyway. Koken has their new Z series ratchets. I have ordered a couple. Flex 1/4 long handle and a 3/8 on a 1/4 frame flex short. Pretty pricey but dang they are sweet. The quality and smoothness is incredible. Anyway, great video. Keep up the great work.
Cool. Excellent demo turning the nut to show back drag. I think the Craftsman have extra stiff springs to hide how much slop they would otherwise exhibit. Subscribed. 🔧
I like the tool comparison. I also like that you are aiding Sears in deciding which to go forward with in their future tool line up. Sears is an icon and they are not going anywhere but the competition is on for those who want to be Sears’s next tool brand.
@@marcowens7234 so the 120's are the outlier. The rest are made in China. Since none of the wrenches compared were 120xps, the statement above holds true.

Thanks for the advice. Was not tracking Tekton wrenches so will give them some consideration. Was all set to buy several sets of Gear Wrench ratcheting combos last night when I read the negative comments regarding the new Gear Wrenches. Your video supports those comments. I totally agree about Craftsman. I was brought up using Craftsman. My father's Craftsman socket wrench from the 60's is better than my Craftsman socket wrenches from the 90's. The new Craftsman is a tasteless joke. So disappointed. They are not even in my consideration anymore. Thanks again for the advice on Tekton. I would like to know your opinion on the ICON brand from Harbor Freight. I'm considering their stubby flex-heads.

Hello Project Karr's Your Video maybe ten months old, but I just found your channel and subscribed. I am looking forward to seeing the Testing. Again thank you
I like the comparison. I am considering getting some flex head wrenches. I have a couple of 5 wrench sets that were on sale a few years ago. I want to get a full set.
I'm disappointed with Craftsman as well. I heard from a few people the Lowes won't warranty the older Craftsman only the tools they sell. I hope it's not true since I have a lot of old made in the USA Craftsman
I assume the Tekton and the Kobalt wrenches are from the same factory. They just stamp different names. There was a Tekton facebook group Q&A a couple of months ago and their comment was that even though sometimes their tools look identical to others, it doesn't mean they are the same. Their manufacturing standards and specifications differ from others. I don't know whether that is true or not but I do know that I'm on the market for some ratcheting wrenches and I got some decent information from this video. I'll be keeping my eye on those Kobalt ones too. If there's a deal on them, I think they are worth buying.
Plenty of tool truck shoppers are comparing these brands to tool truck brands. Same warranties, similar quality, but half or quarter of the price. Just look at what off the shelf cordless tools from home depot or lowes which are fractions of the price, did to the tool truck pneumatic tools industry. You'd be a fool not to consider these for professional use. Best tech I ever knew when I was in the industry made a great living off a Husky brand tool box filled with Harbor freight, Husky, tekton and craftsman tools.. and this was nearly 10 years ago!!
Thanks for the great comparison video. I'm looking into getting a Tekton 48pc ratcheting wrench set, but they are out of stock. 6+ weeks the site says. Lets go Brandon!
wow, that Tekton head is fairly floppy in comparison. actually found you while searching tools, glad i found you & appreciate you doing this kind of excellent detailed comparison video, hope that you will continue to do these kind of informative videos in the future as they are extremely helpful. great giveaway by the way.. hope it is still open and i am eligible. liked, shared and subbed, looking forward to more great content from you in the future, be well & stay safe ! Hey glad you found the channel and thanks for the feedback and sub. Giveaway is still going on and I will be announcing a winner in a couple videos. What has happened to craftsman is pretty sad.
@@projectkarr thanks man, yes, i totally agree ...i recently spent a small fortune (well for me) purchasing some various "old new stock" craftsman tools on ebay cause my tools were stolen after a house fire. i was fortunately able to get some of the same older craftsman to replace some of what i lost, as many of my tools were the older craftsman ...and those were very high quality tools. thanks again buddy, all the best to you !
YELLLO. I realize this video is old a/f but I did notice when you were talking about the quality of the new gearwrench wrench that there is a pat missing from the newer one as well as the chrome looks really dull. I wonder if you are rite and that is a chineese fake, not sure what you found out. Awsome channel will be checking out more content and I see that there outlaw dipper sticker, shout out to all my Outlaws!
I've watched several of your videos now. Love the pro American feel of them. Nice compare of the slip, or ease of back rotation. Well done honest, folksy videos. Clear audio. Not over modulated. Solid, stable video. Looks like I'm going with the Kobalts
Yes they are nice! I just picked up their 1/4, 3/4, and 1/2 sockets set from their site last week. I have their wrenches coming in a few days. For the money and being a weekend warrior this will be perfect. And getting 10% back into more product is pretty nice too.
Only problem with Tekton is you can’t get any ratcheting wrenches right now, and they don’t have the option for being reversible without flipping the wrench . I have some of their sockets and ratchets and they’ve been serving me well.
Thanks to you I bought the tekton master 1/2" and 3/8" sets (still saving up for that 1/4") and the wrench set. It's interesting for me because I'm building up my tool set for when I move to Japan, so if I have to avoid getting too much excess, but missing anything it'll be prettu hard (and very expensive) to get more. I appreciated this video and how the audio was more level throughout it. As a constructive note, this video didn't seem to be quite as information rich (just containing new information) though, as an establishing video for your future torture test one I think it's great. Additionally, have you seen those Wera screwdrivers? I don't know if you use screwdrivers as much, but I end up using them all the time and that weird looking handle is actually my favorite screwdriver handle design by far. I could go on about it, but if you haven't tried them, they're worth checking out. (And if you want more info on screwdrivers, I could go on and on. :P)
Dang that’s pretty awesome. Looks like you’re gonna have some heavy suitcases. See I was struggling with the balance of information on the Tekton wrenches and comparing them to others without making a 30 minute video haha. I’ll try to make sure it stays information rich in future videos. I have actually seen those screwdrivers before and I like the design of the grip. It might look a little strange but you can tell it will allow you to put a ton of torque.
Watched this video after I'd bought some of the Craftsman ratcheting box wrenches to replace my pittsburgh pros. I wanted to see if I was the only one who thought the pittsburghs were better as well. Sad to see I'm not.
Question : I’m looking to upgrade quite a random collection of different brands of soccers, wrenches, and other alike tools. I’m seeking a recommendation for one brand to go with and get all tools. From watching your vids and others it seems Teckton and Gear Wrench are neck and neck, but would you recommend one over the other? Or a different brand?
Nice comparison. Just a thought on the truck brands. I have been in the business for about 40 years and the truck brands are overpriced. Add to that the difficulty at times with warranty if you don't own a shop and these secondary brands are relevant. I would compare these to the truck brands, especially Tekton. That is really the whole point right? Can you find quality tools at a fair price that will stand up to heavy use? I think Tekton, Sunexx, Grey Products, and some GearWrench brands do hold up.
Did you ever get an answer back from gearwrench? That newer set that you bought definitely looks worse quality than the old set. It has to be a fake, right?
Thank for the video . I’m an hvac tech , plumber and installer . Tools are expensive and these videos help me not waste money on garbage tools .

Awesome review my friend. Thank you. 😎
You know I would like to see videos of your thoughts about Teng Tools and vs other tools. Thanks
Yea about to buy a complete wrench set because of you
Haha well I’ll have a torture test video out hopefully by the end of the week. I had some pretty interesting results.
Great videos! I think warranty comparison would be great
Would love to see these compared to the Milwaukee ones
Hello Project Karr's
Your Video maybe ten months old, but I just found your channel and subscribed. I am looking forward to seeing the Testing. Again thank you
Loving all the new Tekton stuff
I like the comparison. I am considering getting some flex head wrenches. I have a couple of 5 wrench sets that were on sale a few years ago. I want to get a full set.
Great info. Thank you. Would like to hear your thoughts on husky 100 tooth?
i have the same tekton set in metric and standard and i love them
I'm disappointed with Craftsman as well. I heard from a few people the Lowes won't warranty the older Craftsman only the tools they sell. I hope it's not true since I have a lot of old made in the USA Craftsman
I’m pretty sure they will still warrantee it out but you’re going to get a made in China replacement unfortunately.
Yea, I'm a big fan of Tekton tools. I just haven't been able to afford them very often. They sure make nice stuff though.
Stay away from Kobalt, your knuckles will thank you.
I’m curious to know how tekton handles their warranty.
It’s amazing and that video should be up in a couple days.
Nice Shirt my friend! Thanks for the Tool Coverage. Great Stuff!
🤠👮🏻♂️🇺🇸🐉👍. B9USA Sr.
Thanks for the great comparison video. I'm looking into getting a Tekton 48pc ratcheting wrench set, but they are out of stock. 6+ weeks the site says. Lets go Brandon!
Yes keep doing reviews on tool sets
Great videos, they are very helpful. Just keep doing what you are doing
You should do videos using the Tools you review in real world applications.
I have craftsman ratchets and they are SUPER stiff as well. I often have to hold the socket when I’m ratcheting or else it will spin the wrong way
wow, that Tekton head is fairly floppy in comparison. actually found you while searching tools, glad i found you & appreciate you doing this kind of excellent detailed comparison video, hope that you will continue to do these kind of informative videos in the future as they are extremely helpful. great giveaway by the way.. hope it is still open and i am eligible. liked, shared and subbed, looking forward to more great content from you in the future, be well & stay safe ! (oh and PS, the newer craftsman line of tools pales in comparison to what they used to be 4 sure !! ).
I’m big on Tekton tools also . I have a complete set of there chrome sockets , 1/4 through 1/2 . They are great 👍
Yes they are nice! I just picked up their 1/4, 3/4, and 1/2 sockets set from their site last week. I have their wrenches coming in a few days. For the money and being a weekend warrior this will be perfect. And getting 10% back into more product is pretty nice too.
What kind of engines you work on.
Only problem with Tekton is you can’t get any ratcheting wrenches right now, and they don’t have the option for being reversible without flipping the wrench . I have some of their sockets and ratchets and they’ve been serving me well.
Great video. Very good style.
Why no icon?
Thanks for the info Bro.
Watched this video after I'd bought some of the Craftsman ratcheting box wrenches to replace my pittsburgh pros. I wanted to see if I was the only one who thought the pittsburghs were better as well. Sad to see I'm not.
Do you have a case for your flag, or is that one that you fly daily?
It’s one that I fly daily.
Those look like very nice quality!❤
Maybe a new spring washer?
Torque test tekton ratchet or a comparison video
Nice comparison. Just a thought on the truck brands. I have been in the business for about 40 years and the truck brands are overpriced. Add to that the difficulty at times with warranty if you don't own a shop and these secondary brands are relevant. I would compare these to the truck brands, especially Tekton. That is really the whole point right? Can you find quality tools at a fair price that will stand up to heavy use? I think Tekton, Sunexx, Grey Products, and some GearWrench brands do hold up.
I believe in April Milwaukee is releasing their flaxseed. I would like to see it in your torture test also
Those will be interesting to check out.
I really like my set of Mac six point precision torque flex head combo wrenches. Probably just a little nicer than the tekton.
Thanks love your info
Comfort grips 16 piece and there are fantastic...
Might have to give those a try then. Thanks for the info!
Love the vids
Is that a Datsun 2000 or 1600 on your profile picture? My Dad was a Datsun dealer in the 70's.
Good eye. It’s a 1967 1600.
@@projectkarr very cool. I worked in the parts Dept when I was in HS.
@@NSNorfolk that’s awesome, I had never been a Datsun guy before a few years ago but they made some sweet cars.
Did you ever get an answer back from gearwrench? That newer set that you bought definitely looks worse quality than the old set. It has to be a fake, right?
@@krishermanowski3599 it took 105 days to finally get a replacement. Unfortunately they weren’t fakes, just worse craftsmanship than before
@@projectkarrthat’s sad to hear. I guess tekton is the way to go
You know you can tighten the flex head right?
I tried. That screw doesn’t budge hardened steel.
Like the video - just the coolest!
Tekton & Gearwrench, luv them both and good video, Marty the tool junkie 🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧
Excellent Job.
I’ll looking to it too .
Good Comparison video ..
It might be a reman gearwrench. I know the reman craftsman ratchets were terrible
Really needed a 13 mm last week.
Seems like you can only get the Tektons individually now.
You should tool foam your box and do a video on it
