FYI, the recall redesigned 3/8's Flex Head is even stronger now than the original. They made the pawl wider so there's more contact with the teeth on the gear. I think the gear might be a bit larger as well. They also improved the switch by making it shorter and more flush with the head, so less prone to breaking. They also changed up the face plate and screws. I recommend you actually go and exchange yours, or at least pick up another new one.

@@motorpsykler Personally, Harbor Freight is a nearby warranty advantage to me, but long run bad for US manufacturing. Tekton has way more usable sets of tools offered and actually makes about 20% of their stuff domestically. All of their product is great quality for the money, and it will still get replaced if it fails. I'd have to reward Tekton with my money I think. If I were still wrenching for money I'd probably pay HF for convenience, as it's a small side trip on the way home.

Spline drive will handle several different fasteners. But be careful on fasteners where you want to preserve the finish, it may scar. Also, it’s seemingly dishonest of Harbor Freight to say they designed a new wrench that had been in existence for years before the icon brand was even around. No digs on you Clay. Nice video! At the end of the day majority of tools get the job done, just depends which you want to use in your hands. When I grab a ratchet or screwdriver I use different brands, milwaukee, harbor frieght, snap on, but I just like the snap on brand so it is worth it to me. Even if I break a hf tool, I usually have extras to get me by until I go get it replaced. Some of the tool truck tools ie ratchets and screwdrivers are just better than other brands, but when it comes to sockets or wrenches anything works. I did buy a set of snap on sockets with the magnetic tray though for reefers. Then I can just set them somewhere close.

I've never had any problems with Harbor Freight tools. I always figured if I break the tool I can always replace it. Tho I have to admit it's a pain to gather up my broke tools and haul them to the store wereas the truck tool I break one I just have to wait up to a week and replace the tool then. So truck tools vice store tool vice order on line. Whitch is better? Depends on your situation, I guess!!!!

This set is awesome! I have considered this set; however I happen to have the Gearwrench 10 piece set with closed box end spline non ratcheting; for breaking fasteners loose, and the ratching same size, with spline drive and flexing head design. The Icon may be the more efficient set of the two and possibly on the market today, but the Gearwrench does have the solid end with a recest side that makes fast work of stubborn bolts or nuts in splined fashion. Both of these sets have their own unique takes. Thanks Clay, and happy holidays!

In my experience, spline drive of any brand is ok until you get a really tight bolt that is not a spline bolt. In those cases, I have had spline slip and had to go back to something else to break it free. Hopefully that is not your experience.
