It seems Harbor Freight will ship new products to the store before they update their website. Until they update the site you can only get them from the store apparently or maybe calling them.
I would have bought ICON if I had known this two wks ago. I would send these back but Mountains look to be about the same and still can't find this on the HF website. Looked for this very item in the store before I ordered the Mountain a few wks ago.
Same as Cornwell too. I just got the set of 21/22 & 24/27. Nobody else I could find had 27mm. They were $260 for the pair. Best wrenches for doing lift kits and alignments. The offset is perfect for clearing the alignment cam pin on Chevy trucks and the 27 is crucial for for the alignment cams that come with a lot of lift kits.
Oh my god I’m pissed. I’ve been waiting for icon to come out with these for months. Figured they never would so I ordered the Mountain set last week. Would be much nicer to have the icon for the simple warranty at Harbor Freight.
That's exactly why I waited. Read a handful of reviews about mountain having sketchy warranty. Also the manager is a good friend of mine so makes warranty swaps easier
@@kjenks7161 just sell them take the small reduced price for them then buy the icons. That's what my coworker did and he said it was so worth it for peace of mind and warrantees pal :)
Woah. I paid up for the Matco version over the Mountains and Platinums for ease of warranty. Didn’t know about the Icons! Btw, not the same as the EZReds. These are better made. The Mountains / Platinums were the original non-Matco release.
They're not, I have all 3. The platinums feel the cheapest with less fine teeth, the icon feel duralast quality with fine teeth but a loud clicking mechanism, and the matcos actually have a much higher quality ratcheting mechanism that's fine tooth but spins buttery smooth in comparison.
These wrenches are a must. Remember, the same people that brake these are the same people that put cheater pipes on 1/4 ratchets. My favorite versions are made by Gearwrench. Fixed box end on 1 side and ratcheting on the other. Newer ones have 120xp flexhead design which are nice. If you use the fix head to "break" free a fastener you'll never have any issues.
I had a carlyle 18mm broken when I opened the package. Walked back into napa to order a replacement under warranty. Have also broken the 12mm on a nissan a/c compressor bolt. These style wrenches will break under daily usage which makes the ability to easily warranty them out important.
They are coming out with their version of that soon. There's a spot on the wrench section at my store that says double box end. It could be one fixed and one ratcheting.....
My friend whose a supervisor at harbor freight showed me these 2 weeks ago before they were even advertised. I bought them on the spot. I also have a few pieces from mountain and they are exact the same just rebranded. For any one who want this and don't have access to trucks, get them at harbor freight for the warranty. I paid $129 tax included with the Icon coupon thats going on right now. Amazon has them around $115...so the difference is minor. They will break so buy them with warranty in mind.
Only ez red has both reversible on nut and locking that i could find. Just ordred both sae n met. Getting hard to find. Looking for the anbull ratcheting flare nut wrenches next.
i hate spline drive. the issue is that the loading is closer to the fastener corner. i've noticed that i've damaged some 12pt heads when using the correct spline size on them, a true 12pt tool loads the fastener farther from the corners. that being said, 12pt fasteners are pretty high performance and generally torqued far above their 6pt counterparts, the issue specificially for me was on jet engines with smaller bolts, 7/32 to 5/16 not sure if this would improve or worsen as sizes increase.
the only difference between icon and matco are the metal. matco requirements are cr?mo metal and icon uses gthe cheaper crv metal. other than that they are the same.
Yes, I really don't like that they leave out some sizes in the sets just so you have to buy them separately at a very high price. Craftsman is famous for screwing their customer this way.

I can clearly see that 18 in that 19 breaking because on a lot of jobs you'll run into the size bolts being having the most torque but that 10 14 15 and 13 I don't see those breaking you shouldn't have to put that much torque on those to break these size bolts
I have them in Mountain brand and they’ve worked out well. I did break the 19mm and my GearWrench dealer warrantied it for me, since I bought them on his truck, luckily. They are surprisingly durable.

Harbor Freight is great again…no coincidence that Snap-Ops lead engineer left snap on to work for HF…I’m still waiting for a an HF to tool truck.. I think they would wipe out the industry of tool trucks of they started doing this.. I have no hate towards snap-on, or any other tool truck… but I feel it’s fairly obvious evil charging blue collar workers the cost of a new car, or getting technicians into payment plans that they can’t afford..HF has come so far in their icon line… just makes me wonder sometimes what people are thinking… but then I remember these tool trucks are just as evil as credit card companies… people paying for just their toolbox alone for 15-20 years??? For what?
Yes they are a new release. I bought mine at my local HF store today. $150.00 full price and $130.00 out the door with the ICON 20% off coupon. Thank God I waited until someone with a good warranty policy released them at the Mountain Amazon price.
I was actually scoping the set last night on the S-O truck (Mountains) when the rep showed me the new snap on versions which are really nice but i wasnt about to get into pricing I alraedy knew they would be an arm and a leg. If he would of kept his mouth shut i probably would of walked out with the Mountains but now gotta pick these up at HF only thing thing what would really be truelly handy would be a fixed non ratcheting closed 0° end that you can break with and fip it over and keep going working on buses poses plenty of obstruction and the 0° offset always always applies the most torque I feel.
They are great for working on modern cars with everything shoehorned into the bay. Lines everywhere, hoses, parts and the bolt can't be reached easily and never mind even grabbing on the recessed bolts' head. These will do the job. I wouldn't use then to break a bolt or nut on suspension but most engine parts are low torque anyway.
Had them for awhile brand is platinum .very good and useful tool hands down .never had a problem or broke them and ive put a good amount of force on them to where i thought i was gonna break them haha.very cool HF offers them if i do break my set ill pick them up from there.

Was about to buy a Matco set off the tool truck. Now I’ll just go down the street to Harbor freight and buy it a little bit cheaper. These work great for alignments on newer BMWs in conjunction with the gear wrench 21s
You are correct about them being made by the same manufacturer, however, icon and other lower end are made with cr-v while matco is made from 440. They look identical but the material are completely different.
They are a must have for sure. I got the gearwrench 120xp set with the add on set from 8-24mm no skips. I chose them because they have a ratcheting flex head on one side and a fixed box end on the other for when you are breaking stuff loose. 1 wrench 1 size just like it should be.
@@bonbonflippers4298 I have only had my 21mm lock up but it was 100% my fault for going full gorilla on it. My Fastenal guy warrantied it no questions asked. The good thing about having the same size on both ends is you can still use the box end until it gets warrantied out.
Are these easy to rebuild if something breaks. I am asking because I see a number of people selling broken ones on Ebay? Not necessarily HF, specifically I have seen Mountain and EZ-RED for sale which are all Kabo made. Why would you buy a broke one on line? Unless you knew exactly what was wrong with it and you had a solution to fix it?

newer subaru vehicles have a bolted on battery tray that you have to remove to replace spark plugs. these are MONEY because of the depth of the driver. there are two 14mm bolts stacked on top of each other vertically in the fender that suck. you have 2.5 inches of clearance between the engine. these are great
9mm hardware is super rare. 11mm hardware also rare but 7/16" can be used in a pinch as about .004" larger than 11mm. 8mm and 5/16 are only .002" difference. 19mm and 3/4" are only .002" difference.
i dont think you be able to warranty them out, because they are going to ask you for proof of purchase, for your phone number and if your number is not registered that you perched them, store wont let you warranty them(with icon you need proof of purchase)or make sure you have that phone # of that person who got those wrenches for you
Ive abused my mountains for 2 yrs.. never broked. But common sense if its a 17mm to 19mm and is pretty tight. And if you can actually reach it with h a ratchet .. use the ratchet.
ignore this if youve heard it before but I had a mate whose skin looked similar it turned out he had contact dermatitis and had to wear gloves and get treatment

Lot's of RUclips mechanics swear by this style of ratchet
Yes they do!
They are a must have for sure. I got the gearwrench 120xp set with the add on set from 8-24mm no skips. I chose them because they have a ratcheting flex head on one side and a fixed box end on the other for when you are breaking stuff loose. 1 wrench 1 size just like it should be.
@@upnorth5465 I wanted to get them also but I hear so much bad stuff about gearwrench warranty. Turned me off on them
@@bonbonflippers4298 I have only had my 21mm lock up but it was 100% my fault for going full gorilla on it. My Fastenal guy warrantied it no questions asked. The good thing about having the same size on both ends is you can still use the box end until it gets warrantied out.
I have the Carlyle ones and there must have. The extended part of the Box end makes these wrenches so usefull
Anyone know the part number can’t seem to find them on the website
They aren't on the website. The PN is in the description..
Part # is WRDBFM-5
Bought them 2 weeks ago
you thought 150 was expensive. They're 220 now.
Deal breaker is that button...too easy to hit that on something
That is true but at least you.dont have to worry about not being able to reverse if space was a concern at a far away bolt
It happens a lot. Especially if the head gets floppy and it needs some finger support to stay on the fastener.
If you cant afford snap on tools, icon is a great route.
Are these easy to rebuild if something breaks. I am asking because I see a number of people selling broken ones on Ebay? Not necessarily HF, specifically I have seen Mountain and EZ-RED for sale which are all Kabo made. Why would you buy a broke one on line? Unless you knew exactly what was wrong with it and you had a solution to fix it?
i paid 69.99 on amazon this set is great for belt tightening on nissan maxima with out removeing the front wheel as for the set being good i have one out of the set that has broke on 1 end. HORUSDY 10-Piece Extra Long Flex-Head Ratcheting Wrench Set - Chrome Vanadium Steel With Metric 8mm - 19mm,With 1/4",3/8",1/2" Socket Drive Adapter
These are still only available in store, and our store never has them because I guess people know when the truck comes in and they buy them up. I’m going to wait until I have a student discount from Matco, if it’s 50%, I can get them for about the same price and have a tool truck warranty.
What's the deal with your hands man? Looks like a killer sunburn but how the hell do your palms get sunburned?
Almost looks like a chemical type burn. Red, shiny and peeling.
I had that problem, latex glove allergy,

newer subaru vehicles have a bolted on battery tray that you have to remove to replace spark plugs. these are MONEY because of the depth of the driver. there are two 14mm bolts stacked on top of each other vertically in the fender that suck. you have 2.5 inches of clearance between the engine. these are great
9mm hardware is super rare. 11mm hardware also rare but 7/16" can be used in a pinch as about .004" larger than 11mm. 8mm and 5/16 are only .002" difference. 19mm and 3/4" are only .002" difference.
I have the Carlyle stamped set.
i dont think you be able to warranty them out, because they are going to ask you for proof of purchase, for your phone number and if your number is not registered that you perched them, store wont let you warranty them(with icon you need proof of purchase)or make sure you have that phone # of that person who got those wrenches for you
Yeah, 9mm and 11mm are not common sizes. 8, 10, 12, 14, 17, 19 were used on my cars but don't recall other sizes. Might check Klutch.
Ive abused my mountains for 2 yrs.. never broked. But common sense if its a 17mm to 19mm and is pretty tight. And if you can actually reach it with h a ratchet .. use the ratchet.
crazy watching this in 2023 the mountain set you mentioned that was 135-150 on amazon is now 220 and a 4-6 week wait
ignore this if youve heard it before but I had a mate whose skin looked similar it turned out he had contact dermatitis and had to wear gloves and get treatment
It do have 8mm, the 9mm and 11mm is missing which I can bare with cause they really less use unless u bleeding and some small fasteners are 8mm
i like that slight offset, ive used other offset wrenches and they suck cuz the offset is wayy too much for wut i need. Do they sell a shorter version of these wrenches?
Mountains have the 8mm x 10mm but I got them a while back but no 9. Don’t see a lot of 9mm anyway
I just bought the mountain set a few weeks ago. Wish I waited to get them from HF for warranty.
Exactly what just happened to me
@@kjenks7161 It sucks! I didn't even use mine yet either and now I'm 3 days over the 30 day return policy lol. Now I'm stuck with em.
Rob G the only thing that bothers me is the warranty process with mountain. I haven’t found any information on how it works.
@@kjenks7161 Where did you buy them from? I bought mine from advance auto parts and the website said only 30 days so I called up and asked why they have a 30 day warranty listed on their website if the box says lifetime warranty and the woman had to look into it and got back to me and said "yea you're right, it is a lifetime warranty so we will warranty them at any of our stores" But I find that hard to believe. I might throw the mountains on eBay or something
