The alu cabin is so sweet. But let’s be honest, the real eye candy is Ian. Lol
For real though, stoked for you and your family bro. Need to see that thing on the beach when the weather warms up
Ian might need to do a thumbnail pose for me on a future video 😆.
Looking forward to cruising to the beach soon, let me know when you’re free 🤙
Nice choice! Mule is installing a Alucab canopy this Tuesday 👍🏕️
Congrats!
Having an Alucab 3.1 RTT I know the quality you are getting with the Alucabin is second to none!!! You can do so many cool things with those cabins and it will be fun to watch you make it fit your own needs while camping! Having the ability to put a kayak on top of my Alucab 3.1 was one of the main reasons I bought it...and no regrets after one year.
Thank Michael! Your Alu-Cab is impressive, I can see why so many people try to aim for it on their builds 👌
Edward, IMHO this is the ultimate off road canopy roof top tent system. Looking forward to seeing your updates
I agree with you, Jan!
I'm picking up my complete Alu Cab set up from Mule this week! I can't wait to start using it.
Congrats! You are going to love it 👊
Bought the FWC project m in january!!! Congrats on the Alu Cabin
Congrats! FWC’s are quite the additions to a camping setup👌👍
@@KrokemOutdoors I think though, as the sales guy you were chatting with said, I need to seal it up around the bed rails better because it does leak at that joint. lol and I think your Alu cab will be better for snow camping because of the slanted roof design whereas the FWC is flat and can collect inches of snow FAST!!!!
Very nice! That'll be perfect for those wet and snowy PNW trips.
As long as the snow isn’t deep, I agree!
such a great culture . man hope in Korea we have more people to do this kind build business soon
Alucab's look so awesome, great video buddy!
Thanks Spencer!
Bro finally you got your camper, I’m happy for you. Adventures to the fullest in four seasons with more comfort and convenience.
Thank you Norkis 👊
Your absolutely right about your decision to buy a minimal Alu-Cab. It took me about a year to begin to get to a build point with my GFC where I can use it functionally. It would be nice to have a professional build it out but it takes away from the break in period and actually understanding how much use your camper will get. I spent a night in subzero temperatures with a diesel heater I just installed without insulating the cab. It wasn't bad but afterward I went down a rabbit hole trying to find a solution that was safe and effective. I temporarily picked up Frost king pipe insulation and did both sides of the truck bed with a bed rug and the difference was enough to survive a blizzard seeing the winds were going right thru the truck bed of my Tundra. It is those situations where we have to adapt and adjust within our means.
Congratulations on your new purchase…..I also have two girls, when they were little we went the pop up trailer route. Mostly beach and developed campgrounds and yellow post sites. We enjoyed every moment. We still go camping and still use our trailer. Enjoy and have fun 👍
Thank you 🙏👊
Looks good. Great setup.
Thanks Stuart!
WoW ! Edward that's quite the outfit you've got there, looking really good and cant wait to see the next adventure. Nice that it will accommodate the family, looking forward to those videos too. Nice job 😃👊🙏
Thanks Betzaida! I’m looking forward to sharing some more family adventures 🙌
That thing is a beast, super clean and tasteful. Thanks for sharing
What an amazing setup! I wish there was something like this for the bronco. I love the idea of being able to be out in nature while not being exposed to the elements when they are not favorable. Awesome man!
Shadow looks good with your build
Thanks Dennis 👊
That is awesome. I've been eyeing that for quite some time now, and I will be in a couple of years. Thank for the vids.
Looking good! The step idea is a good one as it can also double as someplace to sit down below in the bed of the truck, and also add a second small tier to make it easier for the wife and kiddos when they grow bigger to get up into the loft
It’s a great ladder and idea. I saw one on their showroom floor for their AluCab, and ended u ordering one from Amazon almost immediately 😆
Closing in on that magical 100K! Best wishes to you and the family! Top notch video as always.
Thanks Marco! 🙏
Nice set up Edward! I've been following you for a while and appreciate your thorough videos. I was almost going to go this route with the AluCabin, but ended up going with the FWC instead (mostly wanted a completely sealed space), and low and behold, I saw my truck in the background of your video getting installed at the same time! Looks good next to yours too. Happy adventuring with the family. :)
Thanks Nic! Love your setup, I was admiring it while at the shop! 🙌🤙
That build is coming out amazing
Much appreciated! 🙏
You won't be sorry. I love my Alu Cabin on my Tundra. I built the inside out myself. Solid unit.
Congratulations Edward! You are going to love that camper! The folks at OK4WD just recently installed one on my 2019 Power Wagon. Talk about a game changer. Having a place to escape the weather is huge and your gear will always stay dry and dust free while on the trail. Enjoy!!!
Thanks Joe, congrats on yours! 👊
Dude the evolution of your channel and overland rigs has been inspiring! I just bought a Tacoma TRD Off Road and hope to get it out in the wild soon!
Great set up for family adventures!! 🤙
Also look forward to watching you finish it out
It’s getting there 🙌
Good stuff!!! This is going to be a great set up once you have it all dialed in. Congrats!!
Great setup and cannot wait to see your next camping trip. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! I look forward to sharing it next week 🙌🤙
Such a awesome setup. I’ve been watching a lot of these setups. Looking forward to your buildout.
Thanks Rolando 🙌
Awesome setup! You always give me some great ideas for my '17 Ram Rebel.
Thanks! 🙌
Looking great Ed, can't wait to see how it holds up.
Looking forward to putting it through the paces 🤝
Wow looks great
Man, that's a sweet setup! Can't wait to see what trips you take that rig on!
Thanks John!
Sharp, clean, bomber set-up! Look forward to seeing what adventures you get into with it!
Planning some as we speak!
Outstanding job, Sir.
Thanks Matt 👊
That alucab is sweet. Looks great Ed. 🤘🏽
Congratulations! This is so exciting. We're really looking forward to this new journey and build.
We have a friend getting his AluCab camper installed tomorrow @ OK4WD in NJ. He was happy with the AluCab cap and wedge, but was ready for the full space also for him and his son.
Also 20 mins north of us Ross, Mandy and Roger who make the SNAP "Treehouse". Which is so trick! Not to mention they offer the most options for their products. Ie windows....etc.
Lots of amazing truck cap campers. I believe I was able to find a total of 22+ companies making truck wedge/full cap campers. So Cool!
Thank you.
Mark (& Teresa) Hampstead Maryland, GFC V2 #1919
Thank you Mark & Teresa!
Truck looks great!
Great video! The Alucab looks great! I'm sure you're going to love yours as much as I love mine!
I'm already in love with it!
Awesome setup, Ed !
Thanks for all the details, knowledges and experiences your share to us. Keep up the good work ! ; )
cool setup
Congrats its my dream to have it best of all
Nice rig. Always liked the AluCab. I finally got to see one in person this last weekend at the Southeast Adventure Vehicle Expo.
really enjoyed the video Edward. We've been full time on the road in a 30 year old 30 foot RV, and we tow a jeep grand cherokee with us. I hope to build out an overlanding vehicle, truck or van, not sure which when we settle on a place to live. Thanks for the super thorough overview, very helpful.
SOLID👍
Stoked for you! I think that dollar for dollar, you just got the best thing for your family. And I 100% agree, building as you go, to make sure it’s just what you need is a great idea. You got my sub. 👍🏼
Gladly share my feedback on my All-Cabin build and the few changes I'd make if to do again. Nothing major and these changes can still be made in the future. Welcome to the club and excited to see your version of the build out!
How are you liking the Goose Gear setup? I had OK4WD install the baseplate when they did my installation. I wanted to use in a few times and get a feel for it before I committed to building out the interior. I took a trip down to George Washington and Jefferson NF last week for the maiden voyage and the camper is truly better than I expected. I’m curious to hear what you would change. Always looking for new ideas.
Thanks Christopher!
Cool Ecosystem..... nice habitat!!!!
HI EDWARD 👋
I LIKE WHAT I SEE SO FAR . SHOULDN'T MESS WITH THE GASOLINE MILEAGE TOO MUCH / WIND RESISTANCE . I'M ALSO THINKING ABOUT WHERE YOU LOVE TO GO CAMPING HARDER FOR CERTAIN ANIMALS , INCLUDING MAN WOMAN OR NOW DAYS CONFUSED BRAKING TO EASILY ! LOVE THAT SEAL EVERYWHERE YOU CAN THINK OF . THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME / US TAG ALONG AS YOU & YOUR FAMILY FIGURE OUT HOW YOU WANT TO SET THIS UP FOR YOUR FAMILIES LIFESTYLE ! BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! ENJOYED 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS ON YOUR ADVENTURES 🙏 THANK YOU 🙏
Thank you David! I appreciate your support and watching the videos
Amazing video! Your content is awesome! Mule in Issaquah is doing my '23 Power Wagon.
Nice Edward. I’m sure you’ll like that much more, especially with the young one. 👍🏻
Same short bed and truck I got.
Congrats Edward, that’s a sweet camper! 🔥
Thanks Donald! Let’s get the campers together sometime soon 🤙
@@KrokemOutdoors For sure, can’t wait!
Yay!
🙌
Wow 😍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Siiiiiiiiick
Thanks homie 👊
@@KrokemOutdoors dammit making me want a truck lol
@@KrokemOutdoors been looking at the Ursa Minor
@@TwoFeet.FourWheels dude, if I were to put a tent of any kind on the Jeep , it would be that
Nice! Looks like you moved away from the offroad trailer setup idea in favor of the Alu-Cabin. Starting out with a mostly blank slate is really going to be fun to load out over the course of time used.
It's ironic that I have been full circle from ground tent, to toy hauler, to truck camper and enclosed cargo trailer, to offroad trailer/RTT, to awning/screen room, and now exploring options for just sleeping in the back of my shortbed Taco. I still have the enclosed cargo trailer, offroad trailer/RTT, two awning/screen rooms, and several ground tents. Just don't need the hassle of the RV storage and maintenance any more.
Looking forward to looking over your Alu-Cabin and help you spend your money on ideas for things you never knew you wanted.
Thanks Craig! We should talk some ideas over a campfire soon
Wow that’s cool!❤ bet that wait was painful.
It felt like forever 😂
This is neat, it has me thinking, you could probably even setup a collapsible shower in there. Run a hose from a basin to drain the water out. The idea being you could shower in windy whether, have more privacy etc.
that is definitely one way to customize it 👍
I like the Alucab but I got to say for the wife and kids its way easier in a FWC. It’s a very different direction though.I have a 2500, with a Norweld and a Hawk. Great in the PNW with a family.
The FWC is a great option indeed! 🙌
Hey guys. As an ausie I swear by Enerdrive dcdc 40+ it will take 800 watts HIGH voltage solar as an mppt controller as well. Link that with an enerdrive 40 amp ac charger and you have an awesome set up. Watch heiner builds your ride. . They have a power hub and a water hub as well. Well worth you looking .
I like
👊
Sick!,just realized you’re a bad influence to me..😂
Are you thinking about the Alucab? :)
@@KrokemOutdoors yeah bro., I actually like the idea of configuring it out your self along the way as of what you need..if it wasn’t for you I won’t be in this situation…🤣🤣
@@offbeatentrails haha sorry brother 😅
👍👍👍很棒的产品
Edward, thank you for the videos. I’m enjoying watching them! I have a question regarding the Alu Cab canopy camper and the use of the Last US bag - Oscar’s Mobile Hideout bag with the Alu Cab. Is there a way to secure the bag on the back door of canopy camper without a tire/tire carrier! If you have suggestions to share that would be appreciated.
👍
Your rig is coming along great! Has MULE Expedition Outfitters looked into adding a pressurized interior system similar to what Conqueror Trailers has. It uses an automotive style air filter mounted to an outside wall with a fan drawing filtered air in and pressuring the interior to keep the dust out. It seems like an easy system to install on the Alu-Cab Cabin.
I think there is something from GPFactor, but I’m not certain if it’s necessary
@Edward Shin hopefully not. If it turns out to be necessary, you could quite easily add it since the cabin has nice flat metal walls. I look forward to seeing you and your family trying this setup out in the future. Keep up the great work.
What lift did you use? I’m hoping it’s okay that I’m using your truck as inspiration for my Overland build with the exact same truck! I love your videos!
Ayooo first comment finally!
🫶👊
First issue is all the weight sitting on bed side walls vs going down to the frame. This would be fine it this vehicle never went offroad but you're going to experience so much flex and the bed start warping. Thats already the reason they make bed stiffeners and bed shells that support down to the frame.
Awesome! As a fellow Oregonian, I appreciate the install footage and confirms for me the folks at Mule are taking great care getting it sealed up. I've been talking with them for the last couple weeks and getting ready to pull the trigger on the next shipment coming in. I'm planning a basic install as well, similar to yours and build as needed. Looking forward to watching yours come together. I've not stepped in one yet, but do you think there's enough room for 2 small kiddos down below on a platform bed (something similar to Goosegear's flat panels) and gear for 3-4 day trips? I'm in a 6.5' Tundra.
I’ve seen them go above and beyond consistently, they’re truly a diamond in the rough!
I think it’s possible, but it also depends on how light/heavy you pack your gear. Also, if you utilize a roof rack for storage or anything like that. Good luck on your search!
@@KrokemOutdoors Always prefer to travel light and have a Sherpa rack nestled on the cab which should tuck nicely under the Alu-Cab. Thanks for the feedback!
Hi there, that looks great! Do you mind if I ask the width of the mattress? I can't seem to find the answer anywhere..Thanks in advance and hope you enjoy the set up.
Wow Ed! You’ve really stepped things up in the last few videos. Would love to see a video from you about going from hobby to pro.
About the Alu Cab install. What’s the weight? Is there concern about having the bed sides supporting it? With a traditional camper the weight is on the bed floor, I’d be concerned about the bedsides not being able to handle the weight with potential bouncing on the trail. What are your thoughts on that?
The AluCabin in basic form is a little over 500 lbs., which is slightly less than the weight of the previous setup. Also, the weight of the tailgate is no longer in the equation since it has been removed.
The previous setup had only the driver and passenger sides of the truck bed supporting the weight, but it’s is now also the front and backside of the truck bed that is now supporting some the total weight of the camper. Since the Ram was fine with the previous setup offroad, I don’t have any doubts that the current setup will be just fine, if not better 👍
Edward, Nice camper, how do you sleep head to the wedge or to the back. My wife has arthritis and would have a problem turning around to get back down, so wondering how it would be with head to the wedge for sleeping? Thanks Jeff
Awesome setup Ed! Does the rear sag at all? What kind of suspense set up did you ultimately end up with or plan to do ?
Thanks Ethan! Currently the rear is lower by about half an inch. I have Dobinson HD coils in the rear, and also the falcon leveling kit
Love it, but I'm concerned it's not large enough for a family of 4 & a dog. Toddlers w/ Mom have an excessive amount of "gear" 😆 I'm surprised you didn't go with an AT Habitat or Four Wheel Camper. Much more room and sleeping quarters.
For me personally, the Alucab is perfect. I love the design and speed of setup. The habitat takes about 7 times longer to setup or breakdown (from what I’ve witnessed so far). Our dog is small and my girls are babies, so still plenty of room. Perhaps when they grow much bigger and older I’ll see if more room is necessary 👍
I have a 2021 Ram Big Horn. I have 2 questions. 1 if you take your tailgate off, do they wire your rear back up cam to door? And connect it to your screen view? 2. Can they attach a camera to rear door that can use your rear view mirror? I have the rear view mirror tow cam setup from the break light.
Also I was told by ALU they don’t have a canopy for my truck yet? This is what they said in e-mail:
We have a canopy in the works for your truck and anticipate launching this fitment late this year / early next. Pricing for the standard canopy fitment for your truck should fall right around $4500.00. From here, you could easily add our 3R Tent using 1450 load bars, awning, shower cube, etc,
How does the truck handle the weight with the Expedition one bumpers and the winch ? Does the suspension handle the weight? Thanks.
love your lastest video on the new aluCabin ..? where did you get your portable steps for the new camper..
Amazon:
Little Giant Ladders, Jumbo Step,... www.amazon.com/dp/B071KH4RFG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
😃👍
also do you guys do 2021 TRD Sport 4x4 Toyota's Tacomas?
Do they have a fit kit for 5’7” bed ram box?
Do you get to retain the backup camera?
Love the door system! Curious about the cost of this system. My son would like this for his truck
It’s just under $13k before taxes
@@KrokemOutdoors thank you!
Do they make those for a long bed
What boots and pants you rockin? Looks clean! 🤙
Thanks Dom! The pants are Fjallraven Vidda pros, and boots are Muckboot artics
I was told from mule that the Alu Cab wouldn’t work with my Expedition One dual swing out bumper. They claimed the latch would be to close to the one of the swing outs
Which truck was this for?
@@KrokemOutdoors Jeep gladiator… I even called the same shop you had your install..
@@-DestinationNoWhere- I’m not sure if the dimensions on the gladiator are the same as the Ram. Location of mount might be relatively closer compared to the Ram
nice set up,..i'm from San Diego, California. any shop near by that can do your type of work?
Hit up Basil's Garage
How much more weight does it add on to the truck? And you have larger tires, heavy duty bumpers and winch and all other accessories, do you need to upgrade your suspension and regear? What about upgrading your engine with more power and torque?
I think the alucab is missing mosquito net for the windows and doors. Something that folds away easily from either inside or outside of the vehicle.
It’s about 500 lbs, but the tailgate is removed, so some weight reduction there. This setup is actually about the same, if not a little lighter than my previous setup . No regearing necessary from what I can tell so dar
Nice video! And how the camera on tailgate?
The camera has been relocated to the bumper , which is an accessory to the expedition one bumper
No insulation makes a basic 3 season set up. Nerver quite understood these and other similar units
What name brand is the rear bumper?
Awesome set up!! but nothing is dust or waterproof and for them to charge more isn’t right
It’s a better dustproofing inside the truck bed area. Prior to them sealing it up, there were over 15 holes/gaps where dust can enter from under the bed
WoW ! Edward that's Very nice! I just got a RAM 1500 last week I want make same nike your Please tell me where address and how much you cost
What brand pants are those you are wearing? I live where it snows and would like a pair and they look rugged.
They’re the Fjallraven Vidda pros 👍
better be careful driving that beast with your dog in there with the top closed. Since you sealed off all the places dust can get in, that has the potential to cut off any air getting in for breathing too. Don't want bernie to suffocate if you end up putting him in a crate in there. Hopefully there's some sort of vents that let air in but not dust.
Bernie will ride with us in the truck cab, and when he’s in the truck bed, the tent will be up, so there will be air flow 👍
👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏
👊
HM they charge for the installation?
Hola que medidas tiene
Alu cab is great but the AT Habitat is more suitable for a family of 4
Maybe, but the Alucab takes less than a minute to break down camp, whereas the fastest I’ve seen someone break down a Habitat was 7 minutes. I’d rather had speed to breakdown , especially in bad weather
