What silver paint did you use for the dry brush?
A good store to tell could be that Doogie is the older, more experienced marine, and may have devolped a conection to the rest of his battle brothers in the crusade. Hence why his armor is half black, while JGs is still all red.
Doogie is a Marine's Marine. I've always said that about Doogie.
JG's has more skulls on his armour, maybe he didn't get the chance to make that bond
Admittedly as a very old man who has been footling around with this stuff since the ‘90’s, monopose minis are the absolute bane of my life. Even unique models from the distant shores of my teens were modifiable; my Abaddon the Despoiler didn’t look like GW’s one, because I could alter the pose a little, make some minor conversions and so on. Monopose stuff really can hobble a modeller (I’ve not ever been that much of a gamer, preferring small collections and dioramas). I’m sure they fill a niche that was needed, but they make me grit my teeth quite a bit.

What a remarkable and inspiring video! usually people would convert iron father when they want a new techmarine, but not Jay.
Thats what I did
I have zero interest in the table top or painting my own. But I just love these videos. The enthusiasm and creativity you share is great. I bet you give so many people inspiration to try different techniques on painting and finishing.

Fun fact: There is a second primaris Techmarine model that can be used to kitbash with the other to create a grand total of *four* mono-pose Techmarines. Iron Father Feirros. If anyone wants to spice up their techmarines a bit, but doesn't feel so confident with the rest of the conversion work, consider picking up his model and try mixing the two kits together.
Iron father Firros is a good pick, I didn't use him because he wears gravis armor so he's a lot bigger

I had the same thought when I got 2 screamer killers- couldn’t have them look identical so I stripped ones arms off and put scything talons and crushing claws on him and he looks so much cooler than I expected!
With this video I’m convinced you’d nail the Admech aesthetic and crank out some fantastic units
I love editing mono pose minis. The tech marine does come in a really good default though! This turned out great
They both look so good, but that new blade looks awesome! I bet it would look dope with the lightning coming out of the center of the new one. Like a blend of the two

I think the subtle details being completely different(flipped on where the leather pouches are)
Along with the arms, I think it works great as a re-pose!

If you want some more techmarines you should get Iron Father Feirros and Iron Priest (this one will require more converting). Great job as always!

I don't have a preferred power axe between the two, because seeing them side by side makes them both look more energetic by association.

The quality of your painting is better every video. I used a tech marine on his own with a dreadnaught always, walking behind it using it for cover while repairing it and protecting its flank

I would have put the right hand on a regular arm, and maybe flipped the blade of the power axe upside down to make it look a little more different. But overall you really de-monoposed it. Great work!

Primaris Techmarine was the first model I ever bought (2nd ever painted). Always will have a special place in my heart. Will probably paint a new one when I get better.
I like to think of tech marines as fulfilling the cleric role for a marine squad. Mystical tech monk warriors, FOR THE OMNISIAH!!!

Now all you need as an iron father feirros to kitbash into the "lead" tech marine.
I think that little tentacle can also helping to hold on that heavy axe, or else it's just pointlessly dangling somewhere

a custom iron father feirros works really well if you are looking to have a different flavor techmarine
I think the points decrease is because they are the equivalent of lieutenants in armoured spearhead forces

But i really like the way you get this templar army togeather. Colors are great and the technics what you are useing are easy to copy and helps a lot for beginers!
For my dark angels, I made a kit bash of iron father feiros. He's a perfect 4th tech marine to add to your collection! He's a fun model as well!

Ratling Gram is my favorite color too but not for the same reason, its the perfect color for a tyranid ''shell'', in a Star Craft color scheme.

Honestly the only single remark I could make is that they both have the axe on the sale side. Maybe one without an axe or maybe on opposite sites would've made them unmistakably different. But that's nitpicking. They slap.

It was a good conversion, but I think you could push it more. It would be difficult, but swapping the axe and gun would have altered the pose dramatically. I like the final result regardless.
That plastic glue tip blew my noodle! I hadnt even thought about that as I scraped at my Saurus spears with a heartrate of 200! 😅

Iron Hands Playa here If u hit the Cog s.pad with plastic glue after u finish it rids all the lil bits an makes it look like it's made that way.
Looks solid. The paint scheme and accessorizing separates them well. Id suggest next time either using a Ferrios as a base for a king techmarine or if you wanna go full iron father, slap a servo harness and cog ax onto a chaplain. Theres something uncanny similar to them but I dont think that can be helped. Just the problems with mono pose minis. They look great alone but awful in repeats and its hard to shake that. The tolerances are so tight and fit together so clean, even human variance of assembly doesnt effect it, youve gotta go pretty deep down the kitbash rabbit hole hide it.
You should get iron father ferros for your next one

I think both variants of the axe look good. The difference makes it look more like both are a constantly pulsing with energy. Little lightnings flashing between the edge and the center so each version is just a splitsecond snapshot of the constantly whirling flashes of energy...

I think changing the axe blade itself could've been a good idea and not re-using the same tehcmarine head but overall i'd say you did those cursed monopose models honour. Looks different enough from the base model you'd almost confuse it for a printed custom or another "older" kit.
