I think he’s my preferred choice. Especially if we are just gonna run it back this year. He’s the perfect type of prospect to have developing while you watch the team grow this year and see what you want to have for the future. I’d love for his shooting and defense to improve and then be able to slot him in as a big SF in the future imagine a lineup of Amen, Green, Matas, Jabari, and Sengun if matas can really dial in that 3 ball

For me Matas is one of those players that has a lot of upside and a player you would probably take a swing at with the third pick.
He can be good switchable defender and he a good weak side shot blocker he can also stretch the floor and he a good playmaker he can defintely play with Sengun Jabari Tari.
This is the type of player Stone likes as well.
Matas reminds me of Franz Wagner and Franz as he gets better is a border line and all star level player
One of the problems is it’s going to take some time with him so he probably won’t play as much because we are trying to win and we have too many wings even though Matas can be stretch 4.
Matas would be a swing pick but I don’t think the rockets would pick him at 3. I would be shocked if they did.
Most likeky Matas will probably be going to Detroit because they need a stretch four badly and once Matas gets that shooting down he would fit nicely next to Cade Ivy Duren and Asuar

I don’t think Matas would be a bad pick or a surprise pick in this particular draft with no standout players. The kid has point guard handles…and handles is something the Rockets are lacking.

I’m not sold on Reed being a great shooter at the NBA level. He only averaged 4 three point attempts per game and 8 shots total…a lot of which were uncontested.
I think he’s going to have issues getting his shot off. Dalton Knecht may be the best shooter, and overall scorer, on the NBA level in this draft.

I really don‘t know what the best move for the team is this year, even tho it‘s a „weaker“ draft, i feel like there are alot of interesting prospects. And we can trade down or trade the pick for a player, alot of options. I am glad i am not the GM. That being said, reed sheppard is on top of my board.

I think I like Castle a lot long-term, or even short-term, but I think Reed provides them more of a needed skill-set. Or, if they really want a lockdown defensive backstop, Clingan makes a lot of sense.
Not sold on the Euro wings at pick 3, and I don't think the Rockets need another wing right now given how many they have.

How valuable is the third pick in the draft? Looking at the last seven years.
    Scoot Henderson
    Jabari Smith
    Evan Mobley
    LaMelo Ball
    RJ Barrett
    Luka Doncic
    Jason Tatum
    Jaylen Brown
Keep in mind that Doncic, Tatum and Brown are in their primes. In a down draft year as many claim, the top picks are worth more to ensure a quality player. However, this is not really a down year. Just a year where the talent is less discernible. #10 maybe better than #1. Rockets smart pick is see who falls to them at three. Roll the dice on Brooklyn one more year with next year's swap. After next year Brooklyn will be coming off Simmons contract and have flexibility to improve. Something they really can not do without draft picks this year.
After this season, the Rockets will have a better idea how the kids are panning out. The trade deadline in the next season is the time to start thinking about upgrades. Further, the Nets will be more open to trading Bridges who is a slight upgrade over Brooks.

I will put him right after reed, simplely because he struggled in G league. star caliber player won't suck at g league, but his talent is there just like kuminga
in 2021, I think he got all the package to become a star, it really depend on his effort in future, at least we dnt need worey about his basketball IQ like jalen

Yeah but Sheppard has a skillset that not many on our teams has is that he a great shooter and he can be a good defender and he can possibly replace Fred after this upcoming season. In this draft there nothing wrong with taking the safest pick and someone that has skillsets that your team needs

    • @kingmoz
      @kingmoz 5 месяцев назад

Buzelis floor is way lower too. Sheppards shot is already near generational and his defense is at least league average. That alone puts his floor as a solid rotation player. Buzelis could flop entirely and be out of the league in 5y

Good pod guys. I'm not that high on this guy. he's definitely not in play at #3. IMO its going to take a lot of developement on this guy to get him to the point where we can use him. when I watched him my 1st thought was Austin Reaves, and the last thing the Rockets need is Austin Reaves. there are at least 10 to 12 prospects clearly better than him IMO
