Based off of play on the court…Dalton Knecht has the highest ceiling in this draft class. But Rob may end up being an excellent 6th man spark-plug type player for a team that’s already contending.
Valid point. Ok, rephrase: realistically, we are a few years away from serious playoff contention, in my opinion. I believe we can make it to the play-in tournament this next year and quite possibly make it into the first round. The Western Conference is just so much more commotion the Eastern Conference.
Rob Dillinghan has a lot of strengths for sure. He is electric! He is a true three-level scorer with a quick release and great footwork. I do have concerns about his size. Many of the looks he got in college will be taken away with NBA-sized defenders. How will he respond? I am also concerned about him being a defensive liability. The Rockets are a “defense first” team under Ime Udoka, so that would have to be his main focus if he wants to earn playing time for this team. I think he is worth taking a chance on for a team in development like the Spurs, Wizards, Raptors or Jazz. I think the Rockets need a bit more certainty in a pick at this point. I believe we are year or two away from making the playoffs. We do need a replacement for Aaron Holiday, but we need a “ready now” player to come off the bench.
I was with you until you said we are a year or two away from the playoffs. We are making the playoffs this coming up season. We barely missed it this year. Our record will improve.

@@a.k.infinity1502 I meant that to be the best version of himself, he needs the ball. He CAN play off ball but that’s not his strength. It is for a guy like Reed Shep. We have guys who deserve and need the ball in their hands more than dillingham
If the only reason you wouldn’t want the Rockets to draft Rob is bc of size, then you don’t know ball. Basketball is totally different than football. We’ve seen several smaller players go on to be multiple time All-Stars and even HOFs. AI, Kemba, Zeke, IT, John Stockton, Trae Young just to name a few. We’ve seen plenty of taller, more athletic players that didn’t pan out bc they simply lack skills as well. Rob or Reed are the best fits for this team. Sometimes I give Rob the nod because I think his ceiling is higher than Reed’s, and you want to consider that when drafting top 3 imo.
@@lmlHTown1994 Yeah no player is perfect…they all have weaknesses. Luckily the Rockets have one of the best defensive coaches in the league. I’d trust that Ime to make sure he’s not a liability on that end. He did wonders for Jalen and Sengun this year.
Good pos guys. I don't like Rob. he's way too small. he won't hold up under the physical pounding of the NBA. there are at least 5 players that are clearly better prospects than Rob. Sar, Clingan, Castle, Sheppard and Knecht all clearly have more realistic upside than Dillingham. everyone seems to think that if this guy puts on a little weight he will thrive in the NBA. 1st not all players can put on weight without it affecting their game. many players lose some of their quickness after adding weight. Rob's game is totally dependent on quickness. 2nd is the height. 6 feet 1 inch with short arms. that just doesn't inspire confidence. he's short and light in the caboose. defensively he is going too get roasted. there just isn't enough positives to offset the negative
@@slickrick8046 Sheppard's game doesn't require him to drive to the rim as much as Rob because he is a better outside shooter in addition to being built a bit sturdier
Dillingham has higher upside then Reed on the offensive side but the defense is going to be the issue so might not be the type of player Ime would want especially if he like a point guard version of Jalen Green But yeah but when I see his game it screams sixth man and that’s not a bad floor he kind of reminds me of Cole Anthony a bit. A score first point guard that can get you a bucket off the bench. There some Lou Williams in his game too I agree as well. I can also see some Trae Young in his game that’s one of his ceilings but it might be hard to get to that ceiling Trae as much as people hate him is a top 25 player and an all NBA player Overall I don’t think Rob is the right fit for this team. I get it you draft for upside but for this draft it won’t hurt if the Rockets draft for need.
I don’t think Ime likes the point guard version of Green. He’s just forced to let Green do a lot of ball handling because Fred is the best off-ball player on the team.
@@slickrick8046I agree man like Madison and Jackson said Rob needs to go to a team where he gets to cook and has the ball in his hands all the time. It won’t be here because we have so many guys that need the ball already like Sengun Jalen and Amen I think the only team that makes sense for him at least in the top 10 is the Spurs because they do need a point guard and I think he and Wemby could play well together
@@jalenjohnson0339 Jalen and Amen aren’t that good with the ball in their hands…Especially Amen. The Rockets would be foolish to draft based on having them. I just don’t think Rob is the “best player available” at the 3 spot. No non-playoff team with a high pick should be drafting based off need. But with that said…the Rockets are at the bottom in practically every shooting category. So they *NEED* a player who’s a three-level scorer who can play on and off the ball.
Rob is a better off ball player than Jalen Green bc he’s a better catch and shoot player. I actually think he’s a perfect fit next guys like Amen/Cam/Tari/Adams who are all bigger or defensive minded players. Rockets were an avg team not because of defense, but because the offense was garbage. Especially, when a guy like FVV left the court. Rob is the perfect answer to the Rockets weaknesses imo

off-topic, but I got this feeling Jaylen Green gonna have a big year next year. Gonna be All-Star.
JG alstar 😂😂😂
We don’t need another ball dominant player. We need an elite off-ball player who can shoot and defend. Reed is the perfect choice

I watched many Kentucky games specifically for him and I can tell you that's inaccurate. He can play on or off ball. Think Kyrie Irving. 25:08

I think he can be the next lou Williams. A perennial sixth man of the year candidate that can help spark the 2nd unit of an offense.
