- Rex & Daniel sample a newmake and the aged version of the same rye back to back and give their insight.
Big thanks to Jason Brosious for the bottles. Cheers ya MB!
He's found it! The lewdity limit for these two gents has been discovered! Well done sir
Love Rex smacking whiskies off the table. Makes me want to send in lots of plastic bottles. 😁
EMMA!!!!!!
Love our local Middle West Spirits! They make one of the only 2 bourbons i like, the Michelone Reserve Straight Wheated Bourbon!
I'm glad that you finally corrected the Latin part from "pecunia effundam supra me" to "pecuniam in me effunde" witch makes more sense now😁
I love when Rex glares at the camera when Daniel doesn't listen to him, but then how often does Daniel repeat himself because Rex wasn't listening? It's mutual, Rex.
Started loving Whisk(e)y because of you guys, all love from the Philippines 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
I went back in time to notice which video the change happened in to say that at least one person appreciated your fixing the Latin motto to not be gibberish and thank you for it
From what I can find rye grain is called different things when it's milled: pumpernickel being the milling type that contains the most complete whole grain.
Daniel, your fried rice suggestion is killer, I've used molasses but will have to try maple! Maybe I'll try barrel aged maple...
MORNING MB's
It is funny how now days Rex is the one who try to keep this channel even remotely about whisky and sort of "professional"...Daniel come on! You got to amp it up and be the "adult" one we know from years back! Dont get me wrong guys, this is still FAR from whisky review channel...and thats why I love this so much! 😘
Since you guys try newly opened whiskey on the regular. How many times have you gone back and the whiskey had totally changed after being opened like 15 or more minutes? For instance, I opened a bottle of black barrel, immediately tasted it, and nearly tossed the bottle. I tried it again 40 min later, now it’s one of my favorites.
How do you know you are watching too much Whisky Vault? You start having nightmares of Rex trying to mooch your whisky.
Here in Germany Pumpernickel is a shelf stable (you can get it cans and it can last for two years without stabilizers, I think) coarse rye sourdough bread. I really like it with a few things, but it is a tough one compared to even your whole grain bread, which is pretty standard here (it's great with actual toppings like cheese and especially smoky sausages - it sucks with your typical supermarket food).
2:04 - Oh, sorry guys. Gob f****d the business model.
😂😂😂 I had Falling in Reverse, Drugs playing in the background as Rex started rocking out to keep time and he matched up perfectly to it. 👍👍
Yosemite Valley gift shop on the nose... love it.
Lads, you can update this with the Double Cask release which came out a little while back. The ported version of this at 5 years is straight up delicious.
Thanks for the review guys, but not that kind of bank though. And sorry about the extra gift, it was simply meant as good-natured (whiskey-related) ballbusting I didn't expect to offend two guys on a channel that frequently plays a montage where a bright pink object (phallus) is tossed from one host to the other. (I also thought Daniel prescreened the donations....my bad.)
Good Morning Gentlemen.
I am Indonesian and never heard anyone adding maple syrup to fried rice 🤣 However the number one rule of fried rice is any kind of fried rice you like however you like it!! 😉 So of course it is good to go Daniel!
It probebly is a trick to imitate ketjap manis wit regular soy.
Uncle Roger would disagree
@@ACoBildo true though 🤣
@@ThijsKops it is I believe
I found middle west by accident recently and the wheated bourbon is lovely.
Sorry to bust your bank bubble, but the Central Ohio Eye Bank collects eyes from recently passed people to use for education and sight restoration.
The ninja has struck again!
5:41 Did the Rex A.I. just go sentient? Is Skynet on the horizon?
I was waiting for them to say, "YOU MAGNIFICENT...BANKER!"
My mom thinks you guys are cutest couple lol Good review guys 👍🏼
Is there a way to smoke barley using tobacco smoke?. I'm sure it would be pricy, but if it comes out good you could sell that stuff for hundreds a bottle as a first of it's kind.
Does Rex try to reach down to the bottom shelf again ?
I wish they had tried the small bottle that was sent. Wondering what it tastes like
To hell with these so-so whiskies! EMMA FOREVER!
GOOD MORNING YOU MB'S... 🥃
Words and stuff. Did you forget something? Jason Brosious you MB!
Watch til the end, it’s one of the last things they do on this one
@@jeremynewhouse6530 I saw. They still forgot it.
@@robzilla69 they did it right before the outro...
@@zewhiskeymeizzer9467 Correct because they forgot it. Thanks.
But what was in the tiny bottle?
It's going to be a good day today!
How do I know?
No man-bun!!!!!
Am I an idiot or does the short one say everytime they try a newmake that they don't always get a tasty newmake but this particular one is tasty? I'm probably an idiot. Cheers!
Indonesian fried rice with maple syrup, wow what an interesting combination that I need to try.
Finally something I may actually want to buy...
Now hold on just a minute here - this is labeled as a straight whiskey and the bottle says "aged over three years" but does not state a specific age under four years. Does that means it must be at least four years old?
Straight whiskey has to be aged at least two years... maybe you are thinking of bottled in bond requirements of four years
@@kensweetser Yes, HOWEVER, if a straight whiskey is under four years old it MUST have an age statement on the label.. The rules for labeling a whiskey as "straight" are very specific in this regard. My beef here is that "Aged more than 3 years" is NOT an accurate age statement, as that can mean anything from 3 years + 1 day to 100,000 years or more.
@@johnhunt1725 I see your point, it is a little bit of a gray area. Technically it should be more specific than “at least 3 years.” But I think we are probably over thinking this and to give my answer to your original question: no, I doubt the age statement “at least 3 years old” means “at least 4 years old.” It probably means 3 years and some change but less than 4... but saying “at least 3” makes it sounds more impressive... I’m sure if it was truly at least 4 years old they would boast just that on the label. When dealing with such small numbers the spare change is more significant. Like a child saying they are 6 and a half, not 6!
The Balcones is different and ooh so good. The Ardbeg is excellent. As far as this video I love these guys but I also love a great Rye and any Rye that evokes Candy Corn will be off my shopping list. :>)
They've said candy corn on a lot of ryes that I love. I just take it to mean the dusty sugar note I get off of stuff like piggyback
Good morning MBs
Happy thursday
I stumbled upon a really good Irish Whiskey. Kinnety Castle imported from Ireland to Florida.... you should check it out, not kidding. really nice
is some one grabbing white balance at the beginning of the video?
You two get a banking friend and you don't toast him as a magnificent bastard at the beginning of the video?
No loan for you!!🤣
is there any rice whiskey aged in Japanese oak? I could just Google the answer I guess
Take a page from Jefferson and use the yacht to age barrels of your whiskey at sea.
Love this so much
Y'all beat me to the punch again. One day I will be first. You Magnificent Bastards!
Mix OYO White Rye with a little Amaretto & you’ve got yourself a “Rye-talian”.
Where's the MB toast?
Ahh there it is.
They really need to a put a lockbox on the shelf for the lagavulin 16....
It was almost as if Rex was... dare I say.... blushing? Like you were in the middle of telling a dirty joke and a nun walks up and inquires... "What is up, Rex?: Instant regret! Oh, and Hi Emma!
what do you think of a funeral director as a friend? ;-)
Um Pumpernickel isn't a grain type, it is how you grind the grain isn't it??
Morning you fine specimen of men you true mbs
Whenever I see Daniel struggle with the seal, I think, get the knife!
Lots of anecdotal tasting notes today.
Read out the letter on a Patreon video.
I have only tried the Buffalo trace new make. I had my youngest daughter smell it she said it smelled like yogurt and she was spot on anyone else ever get that off Buffalo trace new make.
You don’t desecrate Nasi Goreng with maple syrup.
You use sweet soya sauce “kecap manis” pronounced ketchup manees and yes this is where ketchup came from.
It’s a mix of soya sauce and a molasses like flavour from the palm sugar
Thank you!!!! Sitting here in Java, I had to get up and walk away from the computer. Having lived in the States for a few years, I understand the sweet tooth, but maple syrup is a step too far!!
Mcconnells review when?
One benefit of living less than 10 minutes from the distillery is getting the limited release barrel proofs from them
🥃👍🏻
Fortunatly as the video started an add blocker add popped up immediately and acted as a white censor bar. was just in the right spot.
What happened to reading comments?
Daniel, if you use the Kecap Manis in your Nasi Goreng you won't need to use the maple syrup.
Try kodiak cakes rex. They have replaced regular pancakes in my home even for my kids.
Their waffles are good but the pancakes mess with my blood sugar. Stupid human biology.
@@duckrutt is their waffle mix different from the pancake mix?
@@michaelo5665 I have pancake mix but the waffles I buy frozen, some mornings I don't feel like cooking. Cooking should probably have quotation marks.
Anyway the ingredient list is the same so serving size I guess? I dunno, carbs are weird. 15 of X doesn't behave like 15 of Y which is really annoying.
@@duckrutt very true, I've never had the frozen version and I've noticed x and y behave differently based on the person as well lol.
@@duckrutt I wonder if the cooking process breaks down some of the complex carbs into simple carbs.
Pumpernickel means Nick's Farts (Nick being the old name for a goblin/fiend/devil). The more you know.
Ahh yes, Central Ohio.... also known as the "dark zone" of whiskey availability. When you go in with a list of whiskey's and come out with Evan Williams white label.
Only if you drink Bourbon. Plenty of Irish and Scotch. Although we’re close to Kentucky, bourbon isn’t that hard to find
@@stacieh4023 That is true, I almost never have to pass an empty shelf for the Irish imports. The regulation is still so backwards when you consider that two of the biggest distiller states form the west/southwest border of Ohio. Don't even get me started on price, either =(
Smells like........ a nature center
Hello
1st
Pumpernickel is actually a blend of rye and pumpkin seeds, if you were wondering!
If the mash bill has pumpkin seeds in it, it's not a whiskey, because pumpkin seeds are not grains. That would have to be labeled as just liquor.
@@johnhunt1725 I'm not saying that the whiskey has pumpkin seeds in it. I was just saying what Pumpernickel bread is. The whiskey is probably just made with a European breed of Rye!
No pumpkin seeds. Just rye. It means "farting Nick" in which Nick means 'devil' or 'goblin'.
@@spudgunn8695 Not sure where you got that from, but pumpernickel bread does not contain pumpkin seeds. Look it up.
Pumpernickel is a German word that has no relation to pumpkins. It is in fact a name for a type of whole grain rye. Tho I can understand the confusion :)
Alrighty then, the belly shot earned you a thumbs down... carry on...
That intro was unnecessary.
Putting maple syrup in fried rice is some of the whitest shit ever.
I'd go on a whiskey vault cruise... As long as you embrace freedom and the American spirit by not enforcing a stupid mask mandate that should have been recognized as unconstitutional and revolted against in the first place.
