This specific Compass Box blend is compared to an earlier bottle of the "same." Big thanks to TITAN of Whiskey Brian Dickerson for the bottle. All hail!
There was no "To fighting, stealing and drinking" today. It feels like the time when Nick Ross forgot to say "Don't have nightmares, do sleep well" on an episode of Crimewatch. Old British people will know what I mean.
The fact you can find out the grain %, the brands in the blend, the married date, bottle date etc.. They know they are catering to whisky nerds and I love it!
I'm so glad I stumbled on this video. This is one of my all time favorite scotches and it's only about $35, you could tell me this was $150 and I'd still buy it for a treat. It's so pure and balanced tasting to me. I'm talking about the 43% basic blend though, I haven't seen the 49% one.
You come to learn about different whiskeys of the world which is great but you bring people in so well that they have an actual good time watching the videos. Great job 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 keep up the good work 🥃
You can not close out an episode without the toast! I watch this before work every day and you just threw off my entire day. I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, and this show usually helps. Usually.
I just picked this up on a whim yesterday - very nice. I had not tried the previous iterations of this range - but seems the marrying cask aspect is a new aspect, as is bottling at 49% -- or maybe not, and they are just disclosing the single barrel aspect. Found very little on the interwebs, including the Compass Box website.
That's my store!!! I should go pop the cork on my bottle and follow along Edit: To not cause confusion, I don't own the store, just the one I frequent. In my excitement didn't think about how that statement could be taken, ha
From my research compass box tends to blend from different distilleries for different batch releases. It seems like they’re trying to create a certain experience but not necessarily the exact experience as the last batch.
God damn it. I can't get this around me. (Orange County, NY) Although, even the Artists Blend, which was readily available in many stores is drying up. I only know of one store that has it locally. I want this Glasgow blend so bad.
@@joravlin4902 in MN deliveries have to be made to a wholesaler with a license if importing. My best bet is to work with a liquor store here that can get it through one of those.
Now hear me out: Deer Corn Whiskey. Not admitting to any wrongdoing, however, but it makes a serviceable distillate and ages just fine in small barrels in the Texas heat.
I recently did a tasting with compass box and we compared one of these bottles to a regular retail bottle and it's much better. I also think it's bottled a little higher.
If you guys do a similar release it'd be really cool if you guys did a two bottle pack, one with the original blend and the other after it's spent time in a barrel.
I think Daniel is talking about a chimnea. Pronounced chimney-uh. I find I'm happier with the clay disposable ones than I was with the iron "permanent" one, tho maybe I'm spending more money.
Having difficulty reconciling D&R's tasting noted for the original Glasgow I am compelled as I watch this to pour myself one and drink along. I had just finished a dram of Redbreast Lustau and can't help wondering what the hell these two are babbling about with their tasting notes. Yes I know experience will vary depending on what you've had previously but I have always had a significant ash note with the Glasgow previously and following the Lustau it was intense. I decide to give it a day or so and repeat, this time preceding with Lagavulin 16 and damn if the Glasgow didn't taste like a completely different whiskey with virtually zero peaty influence at all, and what little there was, differed significantly enough from previous experiences as to present instead as a lingering aftertaste from the Lagavulin. Never had such a drastic swing between tastings.

you thumb nail pic has the old label on it with the horsemen and my bottle i purchased several years ago also had it but why is the horsemen no longer on the labels?
Just got a bottle of this and cracked it open. Was not impressed as it tasted like band-aids. Be saving this bottle for guests I really don't want sticking around long.
I was teased by the name "Glasglow Blend" but I was somewhat disappointed by it. I love auchentoshan, but this one was a bit meh for me.. Although when I first tasted Auchentoshan, that was my least favorite but over time it became my most favorite.
When they gave us a close-up of the label that says it is married in ex-sherry casks it really got my attention because I didn't know the Glasgow Blend is sherried. When they first nosed the original my heart sank because I suspect the regular bottling isn't sherried and that is where the 15% difference is coming from. Can anyone out there with a bottle confirm that?

To explain “Columbia Hy-Vee” Hy-Vee is a regional grocery chain in the Midwest that always has a great liquor section. So this isn’t a great flavor drift comparison because this is a barrel pick, most likely from their store in Columbia, Missouri.
Hibiki Harmony has been missing from "the essentials" wall for a hot minute. What did you replace it with? Is there a list of every bottle on that wall?
You went into it a little bit, but it's no really fair to call this a comparison of flavor drift (or, in your spelling, "FLAVO[U]R Drift," lol). This is the equivalent of a scotch "barrel pick," where the store is involved with the finishing/blending barrel. It's not supposed to be the same as the standard Glasgow Blend. I don't know if the regular even gets marrying time in a new barrel (which would make sense, as the store picks tend to be quite a bit pricier).

Thanks for not fast forwarding through the Titans animation!

Glasgow Blend is just like Highland Park 12 but $15 a bottle cheaper. Its really good. Tasting them back to back they are more similar than different.
Has anyone ever made a whiskey called "The Meaning of Life" bottled at "42"%...just sayin
You have to imagine the amount of time it would take to age properly.
And a cask strength version "The Deeper Meaning of Liff"
"What's wrong with being drunk?" "Just ask our whiskey."
I just realized while watching, but it's been a while since I saw the regular-speed Titan Animation
