The grassy area in front of the greenhouse should be made into a fenced in unique play area with bug motels, bird feeders, interactive water feature, swings and "hobbit" tunnel/house. Maybe lawn checkers or horse shoes?

@@jgwood10 She wondered what to do with it. Often landscaping (herbaceous and hard) is based on walk patterns and habit of use. She already has a decorative fence around her raised bed garden, so I could see carrying that down to just before where she has the concrete containers with the bulbs stored in front of the greenhouse. If Benjamin likes that area to play, then why not make it a play area Laura style? I could see them putting in an outdoor train.

    • @l.m.4014

@@dlsdyer9071 Right ON! This is what the children need! > A Backyard! Away from the 'traffic' > and delivery people that run over trees!
Their very own 'Secret Garden!' A safe 'Fenced- in' area! Just a low fence for a boundary... or a low 'Stone' wall would be awesome.
Raised Sand Box (for Ben's Cars & Trucks) and a teepee? Small slide / 2 swings (nothing too big)
Plant another Weeping Willow...or tree that will hold a 'tree swing' someday.
Out the back door somewhere > what about where all those Bricks are? Is there enough room?
      > > This is close to everything... Near where they sit most of the time. > where this family can hang out!\\
Just open the back door and the kids and their Dog can go out to play!
(don't forget to build a Mud Room when you build the new wrap around Porch)
      > You know they will need a dog....when Samantha is about 2 - 3 years old and Benjamin is off at school.
Yes, they need a nice Quiet / Big Mellow Dog (look up A Great Pyrenees) They Guard children & protect pets/livestock. (that is their job)
The cats can climb all over this breed.
      > Oh My.... I'm getting just like all those 'other' people who grow to love this family and have their own opinions to give!
      I got carried away.. Sorry.

Yessssssss, thank you Aaron for the drone footage and encouraging Laura to record a tour now while things are in such a dug up planning stage. I think this video will be good to look back on and also to do a comparison when things have finished/1year up date and maybe a couple of years updates. I montage from start to where you are, seeing the changes....forward planning for videos (drone footage).
I have loved the long video, definitely worth it and no complaints from me xxx

What a sweet idea for the kiddos secret garden under the tree skirt! And the tree just infront of it can hold an adorable swing for them :)

Everything is Soooo beautiful . But what i love the most is that your gorgeous house suddenly pops up and it gets the attention it deserves! It was always beautiful but now that there is much more space around it it looks kind of majestic.
Before it was kind of lost under a lot of ( admittedly beautiful) stuff
I'm looking sooooo forward to all of the new developments!
Thank you so much for charing! ❤

I think they should leave it as is. Benjamin loves to roll around under the willow and play with the cats. Sometimes things are just better left alone. They can always bring out a blanket and have a picnic on the ground.

Why not do both walkways -- your idea and Aaron's? They would provide alternative paths to the various areas of your enlarged yard, when it's all complete. And, it will provide you with more sweeping areas for plantings.

I know you guys were thinking of doing a lake on the new property (or a big water feature). I think that’d be so restful to the eye and attract some new wildlife and be such an adventure for the kids growing up. I’m living through y’all. 🦆🐸🌳

Such a great tour of the property! THANKS AARON! I enjoy hearing about the WHOLE process. Definitely need the larger scale walkway/entrance! Plus having that walkway line up with the path that wraps back around to your veggie garden is a great idea.

The most reassuring thing any professional gardener can do for her audience is admit when things don’t quite work out despite best intentions and expertise. That and seeing how a garden is never truly finished in any gardener’s eyes does a world of good for us as we plan our own projects and try not to be overwhelmed! So thank you for including all of that in your videos.

There is so much to learn from the process. Thanks for showing things that are in every stage. Gardens don’t happen instantly. They transform over many months and years. No one can go in and do it all overnight. There’s too much to do and it is way too expensive. This is great. It’s real. Anyone who only shows the perfectly tidy after photos is lying by leaving out all the blood sweat and tears. Love you both so much. Jen

Laura, I've been digging up tulips from a spot by my back door for over 10 years and they just keep coming. This will be the last year for them since the patio will cover that spot. My hellebores are in bloom, alliums coming up and bloomerang is going gangbusters. Peony is also starting to come up very fast, this will be a very exciting garden year. Lots of fun!

I dug up a 4'x4' area of daffodils and replanted some elsewhere and gave some away thinking I could plant something new in that area. I turned it all over and put compost in . Dang if a good number came up in that spot! Don't know how they managed to grow right side up.

I love it ...you're going to have an H section in your garden, Helebors, Hostas, and Hydrangeas! Laura and Aaron, it's so nice to be able to hear you both when you're walking around filming. It's nice to see the transformation taking place in your lovely gardens. Laura, I'm glad Arron talked you into filming a garden tour now so we can tag along with you guys as your gardens get a new identity and makeover.
Paul's idea of making those can holders for the different sizes of nursery pots was genius. We deal with strong winds here too, so I may have to do something similar. It seems like the taller plants always get blown over with a gust of wind.
