- I Survived in South Korea and Beyond as an American Because of This!
Having traveled around the world, Francois Marc has seen many cultures and have come to appreciate the way of life upheld by all humans. However, after speaking to my middle sister, it has come to my attention that there are many people from my own country who don't know much about the world and who gauge other country's peoples by the standard of American living. In this video, I give my opinion on how, as an American Expat Explorer, I think Americans should treat other cultures with whom we come into contact.

How do feel about my analysis? Do you think Americans are not so smart when it comes to geography? Do you you think this lack of geographical knowledge can lead to Americans or others having a negatively biased view of world inhabitants? Let me know what you think!
Hey there, new to the channel. I absolutely love the spirit you bring through your videos. Your smiling and laughter as you simply enjoy Korea bring joy to my heart as I’m missing the country lately (lived there a total of 4 years). I love your perspectives of different cultures, and see eye to eye on everything you talked about. Keep making videos man, keep being a blessing
Yooo, appreciate you watching and taking time to comment. I can imagine how miss Korea after living here for four years. Everytime I go on vacation, I miss Korea. Comments like your push me forward. Thanks so much:)

Thank you Francois for always giving me a shout out I really appreciate that
Of course!! Thank you so much for supporting my passion:)♡♡
Francois, your thought and attitude are 100% right. Korean don't go by color of skin when it comes to respect. They respect you if you respect. Especially Korea is very respectful society based on confuscionism and humanism. Not individuality and selfcenter, not alike rest of the world society and culture. Respect elders, be respectful, self disciplinary, consider others, etc. As they say Do on to others do on to you.
I definitely could not have said it better myself:) Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!!:)
Yayyy new vid! I personally think Korea is increasingly welcoming foreigners in various industries, with foreign staff now common in settings like restaurants or cafes at the touristy places, not just English teachers. A recent Korean news report I saw mentioned that bus driver job opportunities for foreigners might expand due to the country's declining population. I believe we’re becoming more open-minded about this change. Seoul already feels like a melting pot, especially when you see the growing number of foreigners who speak Korean very fluently and lived here for long time so it's a positive thing I guess.
Woah, this is great information! Do you think we can see more foreigners doing these regular jobs more often in the next 5-10 years?
@@francoismarc3I hope so! When I was in the Jonggak (종각) area having dinner at BHC, I noticed two foreign workers and two Western girls enjoying chicken. Fluency in a country's language definitely opens up more job opportunities. In Korea, many people from East and Southeast Asia work in factories or labor-intensive roles already. On the flip side, models, youtubers and influencers are gaining significant fame these days flexing their Korean skills. Like idk If you watch any Korean variety shows, you’ll notice these influencers actively participating and becoming part of the culture. That might change as the K-POP, K-Drama, K-Beauty, K-foods continues to be successfull.
💯❤ Thank you 👍☃️🎉💖
My absolute pleasure! Thank YOU and Happy New Year!!
This reminds me the time all my International Student friends at our university we had to draw the globe for a Parade. 🗺️ we each drew the picture of the Globe and each student drew the Globe from their perspective. My African friend drew The African continent at the center, the Americans drew the North and South America as the center and of course I drew Asia as the center, at that time we all thought our continent was the center of the globe 🌍 🌎🌏 was a great experience. Loved all my friends from the ISA. 🎉 Travelling definitely teaches one more about the world. Thank you for another great video
Traveling does teach more about the world, and it's interesting to hear how everyone was continent-centric when drawing the globe. I guess it shows how our immediate environment affects our thinking. What a cool exercise! Thank you for watching and supporting faithfully!:)
Korea needs to open up It's immigration to survive the population crisis
But that brings a lot of risks
Do you think opening up the country more could really help the declining population issue? Interested to hear what you think!
It would be very risky due different mentality. Foreigners are taught from infant to be to be individuallity verses S. Koreans are about respect, common interest, respect elders, discipline, considerate, 홍익인간(humanism; helpful to others) , etc.
That's just propaganda, there is no population crisis, the population density of Korea is higher than lndia
@francoismarc3 in the first year Japan loosened it's immigration policy crime has already increased significantly
The potential cultural clash in a homogeneous country like Korea may cause some problems
The only countries I can name are Florida and West Korea.
As a former public school teacher, I can tell you that we are definitely failing our students in what we are attempting to teach. Other than instructing social/emotional IQ and monetary fluency, geography should be emphasized way more...
Love all those Christmas trees!
Loooooooooool
Ooooh, thanks for sharing your experience, B! Every time I talk to you, you add another profession to your accolades lol. I do think as the world continues to 'globalize' (no pun intended) people everywhere should be learning a lot more about the world around them. So many conflicts can be avoided by reducing stereotypes of the world. Thanks for sharing!!!
When I tell my American friends here in planning a troop to Korea they ask me North or South.... Really?
Hahahaha I've experienced that before. You should tell them 'North' just to see what they say looool
All countries are beautiful and offer unique cultures and traditions. As a European who travels extensively and has worked in the hospitality industry, I’ve encountered many Americans who, unfortunately, show a lack of respect for other cultures. This lack of understanding often contributes to the negative stereotypes some Europeans have of American tourists. Similarly, I’ve observed similar behavior in Asia, particularly in Korea, where poor conduct from some foreigners has led to a rise in places restricting foreign visitors.
What’s particularly troubling is how some individuals, like Johnny Somali, have caused some Koreans to generalize negative perceptions, thinking that all black people behave in the same way. This generalization is incredibly sad and damaging to all communities.
I believe American schools should place more emphasis on teaching about different countries and cultures. Given America’s diverse and multicultural makeup, it’s surprising that many people remain unaware or indifferent to the customs of other nations. It’s not a reflection of all Americans, but rather the ignorance of a few, which unfortunately tarnishes the image of the country as a whole.
You said it all. We definitely need more cultural learning in our schools.
I don't think Korea is racist. There may be some who are, but there are always a small number of people who are racist in every country (I think). I think there are some Koreans who are mostly xenophobic rather than racists. In any account, education is the key:)
In summary ...
Don't be a Logan Paul or a Johnny Somali...
and you'll do just fine.
That's a great summary hahah
thrive to most of y'all just means ending up with a mid Asian girl.
Lol Funny hahahah
