"Of special note was that MTV executives notified the band Metallica that expletives were prohibited during their live TV performance. The band was upset by this so the band disregarded performing their scheduled single "King Nothing" and played the non-TV friendly songs "Last Caress" (has lyrics pertaining to murder and rape) and "So What?" (known for its bestiality and other controversial subjects content). The result was the performance and any references to Metallica during the ceremony have been removed from future broadcasts of the ceremony." Word of mouth was that the executives that told Metallica this was a bit of an ass about it, which is what set Metallica off.

That's the difference between pop and rock. Pop acts are manufactured products, rock stars are artists.
Agreed, but pop groups can also be artists. Every genre has real artists, but some genres just have more of them.
@@jomy10-games no...no...no, popstars will never be artists.

Austin Thompson you sound close minded and ignorant. There are plenty of talented pop artist with incredible voices, who play instruments and write their own music. Just because you don’t like a genre doesn’t mean no one who makes it is talented
Kurt performed a real-life lounge act. Legendary.
Maiden's was the best XD
absolutely. They will never rip off their audience by lip syncing, but you always get a show :) (i am wondering what instrument Ed got, he probably swapped with Nicko)

Hey professional Audio and Lighting tech here! You can totally pull that off live. Some shows just have programmed effects that are saved to hot keys that you press on the board so you can run the show off of that and help get timing to fit in with a live show. I’ve heard it been called busking!
Hey man, gotta give the fans a good show no matter what! And MEtallica re the ultimate professionals in the metal world. Every detail gets covered...until lars fucks up the intro to damage inc somehow.

the iron maiden one made me happy.
so, what have we learned here kids?
- resist the system in a humerous way (see Iron Maiden)
- instead of showing the industry the middle finger, just demask them (every lip-sync refusal)
- tell 'em "so what?" (Metallica)
- be intelligent (Nirvana)
- come up with a manifest (Manson)
- or hide your weiner behind a bass guitar (RHCP)
Just brilliant!

Since the reason Metallica not playing King Nothing is not mentioned, here is the reason for anyone curious as to why they played what they played.
The result was the performance and any references to Metallica during the ceremony have been removed from future broadcasts of the ceremony."
Word of mouth was that the executives that told Metallica this was a bit of an ass about it, which is what set Metallica off.
Thanks
I can't read what you are saying, all it says is:

Iron Maiden ruining the TV show in a perfect way
Well then you'd have loved it at Download, as they did Wasted Years there, and Bruce (being the adorable idiot that he is) decided to fuck around with Adrian's microphone during the chorus (after calling it Downpour Festival because of the weather).
professional troll hunter so you're really a troll hunter then

Yes and no, as I usually come across them by accident, although it's a deliberate accident because I look at random videos. Most of them are religious iditards who think that they are better than everybody else because they have a certain set of beliefs. Unfortunately, I've not seen many recently, although I hope to change that soon because I need to offer a dose of reality to another troll. As for Iron Maiden and Download, I was actually there, and it was fucking brilliant (was also my second time seeing them). Not just that, but I got to catch a glimpse of Ed Force One (the world's most beautiful plane).
*****
First time I saw them was when they were in Aberdeen in 2011, and they were brilliant then (even though the sound was shit and a minor slip up involving me and concrete meant that I had to visit the first aid area just behind the stage).
Yeah. That was the best one! They were hilarious! 🤣
Gotta love Manson being all rebellious with his wardrobe, then playing the radio friendly version of his biggest hit. Couldn't quite go all the way with it.

They've started multiple riots and now that there back, it will happen again
@ I'm not sure what point you think you're making. Why would they do that in China? They're not Chinese

Nirvana's performance on Top of the Pops was classic..
blica 1 Who was playing guitar on More than a Feeling, er I mean Teen Spirit? Not exactly refusing to use a backing track...
blica 1 Nirvana at their most dangerous woulda been playing Territorial Pissings instead of Teen Spirit on The Word. The studio got trashed.
blica 1 Teen Spirit needed more Cure-style vocal performances like the Top of the Pops version. ^_^
I like the one where RATM played Killing in the Name live on BBC radio at Christmas when they were told not to curse. Ironically the song got to number 1 in 2009.

Hey metal bands, keep being metal. We won’t be suppressed by authoritarian bullshit.
Asking any band with any sort of credibility to lip sync is just asking for trouble. These are musicians that have tirelessly played together with actual instruments and they work hard to get where they are. They can’t be compared to a pretty face that’s put in a recording studio with auto tune.
