@@ce2341NO. That's Michael Moore and that specific interview was from his film "Bowling for Columbine" which was about the school shooting in Littleton CO. Moore was on Marilyn's side more than against. He blamed gun control rather than the music the shooters favored. He helped make K-mart remove ALL non hunting ammo from their stores from this school shooting. His silence was to let Marilyn's point resonate if anything at all.

@@lain7758 I hear ya, but frankly there is no evidence toward any religion being the "right" one over any other, or that there is in fact anything beyond the tangible, material world. Often what first appears the most sensible ideologies are those you were born into, so your fate may as well be up to a coin toss. Maybe you're wrong out of ignorance.
Don't you think other religions are just as devout, their followers just as sure of what their hearts tell them? If there were a way to prove any of them right or wrong, then we probably would have by now. But then it wouldn't be faith, now would it?
I sympathize with your wanting to save others' souls (if that's what you're doing here), but I doubt very many people have found a higher truth in RUclips comments. I think you'll find much more meaningful engagement in face-to-face interaction. It's a lot harder, but for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

i was 11 when i went to my first punkrock show with my dad, i smelled weed and asked him what is that? "some weird tobacco" i ended up crowdsurfing as an 11 year old and coming home with a white t shirt and right on my chest was a large print of a boot.
many of my teachers disliked me on school because i was different, they even said that in class while i was there. which made me even more rebbeliant towards "sheep people" im older now and father and can say, back then i had more common sence in me then my teacher.

Trying to control a persons belief is fascist. The subconscious mind is very smart, that experience of being revealed as a person with no control of their emotions, nor being able to listen, will really humble a person, no matter how right they think they are....they will learn that they don't matter any more than everyone else simply cause they "have" to be better than those with different views. My father was this way. We shared many musical interest although he favored Bob Dylan and more folk music. We listened to Manson for the music as intended. It's not about having an open mind, it's about having YOUR OWN mind and knowing that everyone else has their own. Don't be a sheep to anyone's opinions, ideologies or demands. Make educated opinions based on your own research or remain ignorant but silent on those topics.
Being ignorant is not a bad thing in most situations. We're not meant to know everything. Just remember that the general population is actually ignorant to the stuff they say or believe. Don't live your life based on others opinions.

It felt like the emotions and thoughts I was never allowed to express outward, I was able to express through his words. His words were not my own but it felt like he understood what it was like to constantly be mislabeled, misunderstood, and misled. I always wished I had the confidence to put my foot down and stand up for myself. Im 38 now and I'm still struggling to get out from under the weight of a ruined childhood. I try so hard not play victim but its so easy to lose yourself to it.

I had some traumatic stuff happen to me as a kid and to the degree that I don't like talking about it, but as someone else who has some insight of what your going through I can offer some advice. Manson's song helped me realize my anger through words and release some of that pressure that clouded my mind all the time, and in doing this it allowed me to think about what I was thinking rather than just experiencing these thoughts. Manson's songs offer a great way to vent bottled up emotions in a safe and healthy way, and can grant great relief, but If you ever want to truly get past it, your the one who has to do it. There is a way to get past it once and for all, so here's what I did. I personally believe that all problems and issues have a root cause and stem from something. It was unpleasant, but I managed to mentally separate everyday thoughts from thoughts about what I had gone through. By doing this I managed to DISARM my thoughts and memories, NOT GETTING RID of them. You yourself are the one who truly gets to decide how much of your life your trauma controls, so I took control of my head rather than it taking control of me. I mentally separated those negative thoughts and thought of them almost like snow globes, I can still think of them and how I felt at the time, but not suffer any distress when reflecting. Because, although I can still remember and think of my trauma, I managed to neutralize them and metaphorically put them in a capsule, where I can see them, but they can't hurt me. Its also worth mentioning that therapy helped me, so it's worth looking into if your hesitant.
Obviously no two people are alike, but this is what helped me overcome my past. So, perhaps, maybe this could help you too. Whether this helps you or not, I truly hope that you fully recover from the past, and begin a FANTASTIC new chapter in life.
🙂I wish you well and hope this helped!

I'm from China, and I started listening to Marilyn Manson's music when I was 11, during a time when I was being bullied at school. Although his music wasn't outright illegal in China, it took some effort to obtain his albums back then. Manson's music gave me the strength and power to get through those tough times. Interestingly, now I'm a Christian, and I still love his music.
I now understand that what he was expressing is that everyone has the freedom to interpret life, the universe, and God in their own way.
In the West, Christianity is often criticized because it has been an established authority for thousands of years. But for someone like me from the East, it represents a way to revolt and stay strong. This is exactly what freedom of interpretation is all about.

    • @noahyes

how is your english so good? im impressed. interesting take on christianity. i grew up with christian parents, so im familiar with the whole thing. i live in LA, and there is a large asian christian community here, but i get the sense that most of them are korean, so they are already more westernized than the chinese, who are more insular and traditional. and of course filipinos are extremely christian/westernized, but i dont really consider them to be asian. anyways...
the east vs. west perspective thing is interesting to me because all religions, without exception, represent arbitrary concepts invented by geniuses from various ancient cultures, and as such have no business existing in the modern world. it does make more sense as a form of personal exploration, or as a form of revolt, like you say. i have to admit that wonder if you might find it even more freeing to just let go of religion altogether and live in perpetual awe of the mystery of the universe, with the humility that we really just dont know much of anything.
