Turning off the "fast startup" feature is one of the very first things I do when I reinstall Windows. It's also a useful action to take when, as I have, you have a dual-boot configuration with, say, Linux!

The updates are issued on the 2nd Tuesday of the month unless an update needs to be rushed out, there is fair chance some will have issues on a more regular basis, certainly many people I meet do.
Youre forgetting that MICROSOFT UPDATE BROKE SLEEP AND HYBERNATE AND WINDOWS UPDATE when they gave the update 22h2, thus in my case it was a brand new PC with a brand new low vol m.2, brand new windows install. It would not restart or update. I had to turn sleep and hibernate OFF and repaired m.2 and windows and now it will restart
@cwtek1 meither do I, but when the update came out recently, it turned features on that I don't use. Some people have reported S mode being turned on by default. Microsoft has way too much control over our OS
Nice video. I always get calls of users having windows freeze up. I used to tell them to unplug the PC from the wall if it refuses to boot. Now, I just go into the BIOS and disable Fast Startup and never worry about it again. I still get an occasional call to come fix the computer still, but not as often when fastboot is enabled.
One sure fire way to do a cold boot is to turn your pc off, disconnect the power and hit the power button. This will bleed off any residual energy still in the resistors and cmos. This will clear a lot of issues. Anyone ever hear the anecdote, "I took it to the repair shop. When I got there they booted it up and nothing was wrong." Well the time it took for you to get from your home to the repair shop was sufficient to do what I am suggesting. The power completely bleeds away until the pc does a full shutdown and reboot.
This can help in some situations but it does not restart drivers etc as their state is saved on the hard drive and even draining the power does not wipe that, thankfully.
First thing i do with a new motherboard or building a new computer for someone is to disable fastboot. While having fast boot enabled will help with a mechnical disk but for the last decade NO ONE should have a mechnical disk as their OS drive NO ONE!!! having Fastboot enabled might speed up the boot but a couple of seconds it's not worth the hassel of what issues can come from it. Also it means more writing to the SSD which you don't want for a SSD anyway unless you want it to fail sooner?
shutting down your PC completely is very easy shutdown like normal then turn off the power supply or remove the power cable press the startup button on the case few times to discharge the components and you are Done this is Full shutdown which actually works much better then Restart
Even draining the power does not reset drivers and services, when the shutdown procedure is activated their state gets saved on the hard drive, a restart will restart drivers and services states too.
I have "fast startup" turned off and put my pc to sleep if I want it to startup quickly, I also have hibernate as an option should I choose. Something else I bypass is logging into my profile so it is already setup and ready to go.
