Always on the waitlist for a different Rolex ; ) Price increases just plain don't matter mate. It's life. 1% on steel is so good anyway. Omega increases the price of watches between being announced and them being available in regional stores (Ultra Deep was 18 months I think) but I bet you said nothing about that. I have never waited that long for a Rolex. Great thing about Omega is you can get 15% off as soon as they hit shops to sit in a window or cabinet. Bad thing is this does not even half cover the depreciation.
I personally think they should raise prices 100%. Nothing to do with me, I hate their lack of respect for their customers and way their ADs treat their customers. They lost me years ago.
Britt. Thankyou so much. I saw your video and immediately sprinted to my AD. I bought a Daytona, a non date Sub, and an OP Green dial. I was home within the hour. Probably saved a couple of thousand! Thankyou so much. Unbeatable consumer advice.
This is a perfectly timed tactic for Rolex to help ADs clear their end of year full gold inventory by encouraging buyers to buy now before the new year. Personal experience
@ haha, the full precious metals models move pretty slowly and it’s much harder for ADs to find a genuine buyer ie top 0.1% to afford full PM models and buying before the next price increase is a good incentive and as close as you can get to a discount. Most AD turnover comes from flippers and grey market dealers, who don’t buy models they can’t flip for a profit.
In business, It’s a belt and brace tactic to increase the amount, per invoice year on year. It helps prevent their business going backwards regardless of sales dropping. The classic raw material excuse, do you honestly think that a company the size of Rolex don’t have stocks of materials bought stored ahead of materials going up in price?
I agree, Britt on all accords. I expect a price increase from Rolex every year, but the large spikes in PM are definitely driving them toward PP and AP prices.
Couldn’t agree more. The (perceived) scarcity of the Daytona is leading the drive into PP/AP This also means some AD’s come under pressure if they lack the demographic to buy these higher price models
Seeing as Rolex cancelled my local AD's franchise after 50 years, I will never be buying a new Rolex ever again. They only want Chinese and Russian money in Canada in Vancouver & Toronto. Seeing as I am neither and don't live in either of those cities, No watches for the poors!
We are lucky if our annual salaries increase >2.5% per year. My company has a travel, hiring & inventory increase freeze in place to cut costs. All my costs continue to rise.
As stated elsewhere, the big price increases are due to the massive volatility in the precious metal market. A gold sovereign has gone up by around £100. My AD already told me this info, so I know it’s correct. Re: price rises. My Rolex guy says “if you can afford a £25,000 watch, you can afford a £30,000 watch”. I’m planning to get a precious metal Rolex for my 40th (in 3 years time). Now I’ll probably go with a day-date over a Daytona. My flagship AD in London there was a 36mm Explorer available to buy out the case last week. At most, you’ll wait 2 weeks. I’ve been saying this for years. Rolex want to be held in the same esteem as Patek in terms of luxury level. Tudor will be Rolex- the steel watch you buy when you get that big promotion, but Rolex will be for people with lots of disposable income
Funny how when you don’t own a Rolex, these prices increases are annoying. Now that I own the Rolex I want, I don’t care what Rolex does with their prices.

I just recently bought my first Rolex from the local AD (Explorer 36mm). I did not wait long at all, only a few months after getting on the waitlist, i got the call for the 40mm version. I ended up saying i want to wait until summer. Then while waiting for the watch, i changed my opinion on the case size and got my "waitlist" thing changed to the 36mm version instead, after starting at watchmakeing school. In total i waited for less then half a year, for my explorer 36mm after saying no the first time :)
It's 2075, and a simple Air King is still considered a relatively affordable watch. In 2024 money, it’s priced at £36 billion-roughly equivalent to the GDP of Birmingham. A real bargain!
Since this date last year (precisely 365 days ago), the spot price of gold has increased 27.3%, we got off easy with only a 14% increase in the all-gold models.

You are absolutely fabulous and I love your fun quirky style and your terrific knowledge on watches. Keep going girl, you are great. Wish you all the best and great success. Happy holidays.
Rolex is so ubiquitous as to preclude their watches from being considered a luxury item. This year I bought an Omega Titanium Ploprof and a JLC Tribute Monoface Small Seconds and I did not even consider the possibility of purchasing a Rolex reference. The only Rolex reference that I have any interest in is the blue dialed Milgauss which is out of production and the Cellini references which are also out of production and which demonstrate design and manufacturing excellence far above and beyond the limited template of the Rolex sport reference line. Rolex is a great success so they don’t need my business but you can’t have a true luxury brand and manufacture a million well crafted but not extraordinary watches per year.
My 21 year old son is in his final year of university. Most of his friends were a Rolex. For him, Rolex is the least desirable brand out there. He wears a tag aqua racer and it looks streets ahead of all the Rolexes especially in the wrist of a young man.
Why are we waiting? I've been waiting for a Rolex Pepsi & Rolex Kermit for ages. Anyone know of any Rolex AD's which have either of these watches in stock? It's wrong that the resellers receive, so called hard to get watches, on a weekly basis, but genuine customers are made to wait & grovel for years. Where should we go to purchase Rolex Steel watches at retail?
The people who say “if you’re going to complain then you probably can’t afford it” are absolutely individuals who can’t afford it themselves. When you’re around enough rich people (or rich yourself) you will hear the complaints WHILST they swipe their card
I think the Rolex based gold model price increases should be based on the net worth increase, of the top .1%, based on that, they are below where they should be.
I think you're basically right, except for the precious metal secondary market. Rolex raising the prices by about 5% on those just insures price stability for the used market of said watches. Example: A 126333 costs about 15,3k € right now and will go up to about 16k € new from an AD. Used (like new or new) they go for about 14,5k right now, sometimes a little less or more depending on the dial, etc. Rolex raising the new price to 16k € will raise the prices on the secondary market by about the same, so about 14,9 to 15,3k € - which is basically what you paid for a new one in 2024.
So, I’m looking for a full white gold Rolex, either the Sub or Pepsi. Both on secondary market, 10 to 13k below list price. There are a few examples available for around 25-28k of each only a few years old. Whilst I tried on in the AD, the price differential is too high to consider from AD. However, how do ADs expect to shift this gold stock? Paying that extra 13k for an AD experience is a lot to swallow.
People have proven to Rolex that they are willing to pay well over their old prices to get the watch they desire. Therefore proving to Rolex they they would be foolish not to increase their prices accordingly. A Rolex priced at 55k which 'for reasons' is unavailable will quickly be bought for 60-65k when someone makes one available.
In retrospect of this year I think I’m happy giving up on buying a Rolex and bought a Tudor instead no waitlist bs and can get the near the same quality for over half the price.
Rolex canceled the A.D. franchise in Rochester Minnesota, but the reasons are unclear. Sometimes I wonder if some of those cancellations are because the dealers were feeding the gray market?
With Rolex becoming more difficult to get, I think I will be moving on from owning one. I have a couple of Omegas, but really thinking of other brands.
You have to expect precious metals going up. You only have to look at the gold market and it will only continue to go up. I'm a home trader and can tell you, by the start of the next decade, you can expect gold to be around 20k per oz by then. So buckle up buttercup 😂
Honestly, they won’t sell me one anyway. 12 months for an OP and still haven’t received their call. So I’m going for a JLC 😊 they seem to have a great price point anyway
To be honest no middle class person can afford a full gold watch. And do not forget the insurance for the watch as it is high risk for theft if you wear it on the street. So why buy a watch that put you at risk to violence and finical loss? That said I just looked at the Omega platinum 321 movement Speedy with the lunar meteorite! I was tempted to write the check! But I can make a good down payment for an apartment in Spain for that wrist bling.
@@brainloop99 Yeah and considering Spain was mentioned, Barcelona is pretty bad for that. The thief is only gonna see that you're wearing a blingy watch that might be worth a lot
I think Rolex can justify the precious metal increase by make a transparent case back which I believe this si how they are going to create demand for the high tier watches. the gold price went up quite significantly and might also contribute to the price hike. Rolex controls the market and listen to the demand, they are very calculated. I expect 2025 to be a surprising year for the fully precious metal watches (white gold Coke) and Sub with transparent base back.
Ridiculously greedy. 5 years ago, I encountered a fake Submariner that looked like the real thing to the point a Rolex experienced watch-maker would have to take the caseback off to realize it wasn't real. A few short weeks ago, another content creator made a video showing a $600 fake Rolex that was so good, again; caseback had to be removed to tell it wasn't real. Rolex has been trading on their history and heritage for far too many decades! Started out as a cheap caser in Britain, moved operations, worked hard, became a great Tool watch brand, threw that all away decades ago to be a status symbol brand trading on their heritage. Charging thousands upon thousands of dollars just for the Rolex name alone. Yes, they make quality watches. But not to the extent that they are worth the huge premiums just for the name alone. With vomit-inducing levels of pretentiousness. Okay, status symbol only. Track down one of thr better fakes out there. Wear THAT on your wrist to impress stangers. Done!

It’s even significantly below inflation, considering the majority of models they offer is non-gold. With the price increase really only hitting gold models, feels like Rolex is starting a redistribution of wealth. 😂 Sadly, I was starting to look into oysterflex daytonas. On the other hand, they will be below retail in 2025, except for the “pikachu” and maybe “ghost” model. Bad times for flippers and grey market dealers. I can’t lie, I like it.
a lot of their daytona/datejust and sky dweller models sell for higher than a lot of vacherons, pateks, lange, mosers and APs. it makes no sense yet people will always be buying into it. as long as they can still milk people they will keep doing it.
@ yeah, you can just buy the PP secondary with significant discount, which makes it a no brainer. No hand finishing, black polish anywhere near a Rolex movement.
@@watchpapi thanks watch Papi! Great advice and congrats on the little one! I will say tho. My AD has been awesome and allocated me 3 stainless steel pieces over the past few years. I would love to be able to purchase my precious metal pieces from them and keep the relationship going. Cheers and Merry Christmas!
I was always surprised that Rolex didn’t price their new watches to more closely reflect what they were selling for on the secondary market. Maybe these increases (in addition to the falling secondary market prices) are closing that gap. Merry Christmas, Gringa & Papi!
Having suffered from OCD for most of my life, I went on a binge of watch buying late this year. Rolex, Omega, Zenith, Tudor, Breitling, Grand Seiko & Blancpain. The Blancpain would be the watch I would keep if I could only have one. But the OCD curse may rear its ugly head again and who knows what 2025 will bring.
Hey big fan of the channel. Rolex should keep hiking they are geniuses. People keep paying. I have lost interest in most of the catalog as the pieces are very similar and unremarkable. I love what omega is doing with the white speedy and the flight speedmaster. Also the black seamaster is sick. Keep up the great work.
Interestingly, IWC has decreased their prices in the UK. I was told that this is because of changes in exchange rates, but my suspicion is that they are really struggling in the UK. Actually, my suspicion is that all luxury watch brands except for Rolex (and maybe Cartier) are struggling in the UK. Rolex has had a lot of demand to spare (leading to the secondary market prices), though even they have lost some of that extra demand over the last year or two (thus the drop in secondary market prices). But sales have dropped for everyone else. There's just a lot less disposable income available in the UK these days. This also means that the UK will probably get less Rolex supply in the future, with watches diverted to bigger markets like the US, Asia, etc.
Merry Christmas to you and yours 🫶, just not Rolex ADs or Patek CEOs. And video related, the profit margin on PM models is enormous compared to SS, tell the motive in this increase.
I get it. it's an ultimate luxury good for most people, and when folks can make a flip profit on a newly purchased rolex, you can't blame the manufacturer for taking notice.
Why would you do this to us? Did we not praise you enough? Why have you forsaken us? We all know Rolex basically hangs off your every word.... Kidding of course... Curious to know if you think Tudor will follow suit, or do they do their pricing changes differently? Great info!

Sadly, I was starting to look into oysterflex daytonas. On the other hand, they will be below retail in 2025, except for the “pikachu” and maybe “ghost” model. Bad times for flippers and grey market dealers. I can’t lie, I like it.
Just saw Robert kiyosaki owning full gold Rolex Daytona, good timing for the increase.
Merry Christmas! 🎄
Since Rolex ADs back door all their stock to the grey market and prices are falling anyway the price increase won’t make any difference.
Which is why I just bought a 37 year old Air King Date, serviced but unrestored, for only 60% of the cost of a new OP.
Grey market already is better pricing on a lot of models.
Those super clones are looking more appealing by the year. 😆
The increase in the gold Rolex is probably because the value of gold is going to increase in 2025
These price increases are similar to inflation.
From what I hear its not just Rolex as many companies will increase retail prices
It really feels like Rolex is positioning themselves to have an eventual price point overall with Patek or AP. Grrrr.
a lot of their daytona/datejust and sky dweller models sell for higher than a lot of vacherons, pateks, lange, mosers and APs. it makes no sense yet people will always be buying into it. as long as they can still milk people they will keep doing it.
Agreed, I think they’re definitely trying to reposition the brand.
I agree with you. I registered interest for a YG 1908 and a 14% increase puts it way too close to the PP Calatrava in price.
Rolex never matched grey market prices. They price based on their own calculations.
Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones ❤
Doesn’t matter, Gold watches are overpriced already. So another +14% for full gold models, don’t care. Make it +50%, not a watch I am interested in.
Awesome update thank you
so youre telling me im gonna go from zero rolexes... to zero!?
Yes I noticed the IWC price drop. I think many brands overreached and realised they don’t have the pricing power they thought
Can you do Omega next please ; )
Gringa Christmas Eve 🎉
Bet we will see more of the the higher price references at watches and wonders 2025.
Merry Christmas to you and yours 🫶, just not Rolex ADs or Patek CEOs.
And video related, the profit margin on PM models is enormous compared to SS, tell the motive in this increase.
This is a bummer. Pure bummer.
No effect, I am not fc# even now would purchase still not availability
I get it. it's an ultimate luxury good for most people, and when folks can make a flip profit on a newly purchased rolex, you can't blame the manufacturer for taking notice.
Why would you do this to us? Did we not praise you enough? Why have you forsaken us? We all know Rolex basically hangs off your every word.... Kidding of course... Curious to know if you think Tudor will follow suit, or do they do their pricing changes differently? Great info!
+14%…….to give 10% rebate 🎉
