A buyers market is when the all steel watches are no more than 15% above retail on the gray market for a new unworn. I’m not buying until that happens. In the meantime plenty of beautiful watches can be had from AD’s from other brands with little to no wait times. Time for Rolex to squash the gray market.
I still don't understand how the gray market retailers get their watches. Perhaps of the contracts with AD's which prefer to sell them at higher prices rather than at retail to the "normal" clients. Sad, very sad.
@@edoardocentis515 you don’t need to keep watches forever to be a collector. Sometimes you get bored of a watch or wish to trade up to something even better. Good thing about Rolex is that you can sell or trade up and not lose money.
I have just sold my james Cameron which I purchased from a rolex AD in 2017, I ordered 2 other models in early 2018 and all I've had from them every time I enquired about my order is lies and excuses, they even lied to my face in January 2020 about my collection of said watches. Still waiting and still getting nothing but fobbed off. Not honest people to deal with and as a result of my experience with ADs I wouldn't put a rolex on my wrist if they paid me.

Very sorry to hear that Robert. Unfortunately a lot of ADs give terrible customer service, though there are some good ones out there. Hopefully you end up getting the call soon 🤞
If the dealer is buying and selling at increasingly lower prices but keeping their mark-up in pounds terms fixed, the dealer's gross profit margin % will improve.
This Rolex AD strategy is an offense to customers. You can’t buy it in the AD but you find it in the gray market for 30-40% more or even the double. A chain making money on the shoulders of desperate customers!!
Market SATURATION! Lower demand due to few men wearing watches as status symbols. We all KNOW the thing that drives this market is not intrinsic value but rather is the prestige associated with wearing them and with the younger generation getting wise that value is simply artificial.
I prefer they keep playing such games because if they don't then all these "luxury" brands will lose their perceived exclusivity status and drive prices below retail.
Interesting to know your reasons? Mine are: 1 - smartwatch might finish off mechanical where quartz couldn’t. 2 - theft. Flash stuff is just too dangerous now. The tide has turned and people are happier to “eat the rich”

How can a £9500 RRP date just currently be going for £13k?! Over 30% increase is ridiculous
The popularity and scarcity of the more sought after pieces is what determines it!
@ I appreciate that but datejusts are not that scarce (compared to some other Rolex models) to warrant such a large % increase over RRP.
Great video Charlie as always! Would you recommend more a 126 black as a daily or the Ghost?
Ironic that your username is, 'Freethinkers'
@ wtf is it to you David
@@Freethinkers19849 Ask someone to explain it to you 🙄
I would go with the ghost 👍
@@thehonestwatchdealer agree. Less gap between MSRP and retail as well. Thanks!
I just bought a brand new Rolex Submariner Starbucks 2024 for £13000. Good price?
No. Rrp is the only good price.
Good price and stunning watch, enjoy it mate!
No one in the right mind is gonna spend a small fortune on a watch knowing it’s gonna lose money a present time
The Honest Watch Dealer.Right.Pull the other one:)
what specifically do you feel he is being dishonest about? Seemed pretty transparent to me about pricing.
@@shanghaiffgg Amybody who puts Honest in there name, never is.Its just the way things are.Con men do that stuff.
I would buy a rolex watch from luxury watch only if he sells it at retail or under not a penny morre no way he is going to make 5 or 10%
I want a Ghost or Panda to go along with my Sub date and Batgirl.
Excellent choices! 👌🏻
A buyers market is when the all steel watches are no more than 15% above retail on the gray market for a new unworn. I’m not buying until that happens. In the meantime plenty of beautiful watches can be had from AD’s from other brands with little to no wait times. Time for Rolex to squash the gray market.
You won't get Daytona of gmt then
I still don't understand how the gray market retailers get their watches. Perhaps of the contracts with AD's which prefer to sell them at higher prices rather than at retail to the "normal" clients. Sad, very sad.
They buy them off Rolex customers what is hard to understand
Watches are always being sold or traded by collectors.
If you follow any gray watch market. You'll realize how many they buy and sell a day.
I call them flippers, not collectors.
@@edoardocentis515 you don’t need to keep watches forever to be a collector. Sometimes you get bored of a watch or wish to trade up to something even better. Good thing about Rolex is that you can sell or trade up and not lose money.
My AD still says "demand is high , I have to wait years" LOLOLOLOLOL same old BULLSHIT
Hopefully things might get better this year 👍
I have just sold my james Cameron which I purchased from a rolex AD in 2017, I ordered 2 other models in early 2018 and all I've had from them every time I enquired about my order is lies and excuses, they even lied to my face in January 2020 about my collection of said watches. Still waiting and still getting nothing but fobbed off. Not honest people to deal with and as a result of my experience with ADs I wouldn't put a rolex on my wrist if they paid me.
Change the AD!
yes AD behavior is destroying the brand. So many people feel cold now towards the brand. I wouldn't be see in one now as a direct result of AD behaviour and scarcity sales model.
These bullet proff, desirable watches, call him and ask him for a price to sell.....
It is not a buyers market. Rolex at AD’s are super scarse
This Rolex AD strategy is an offense to customers. You can’t buy it in the AD but you find it in the gray market for 30-40% more or even the double. A chain making money on the shoulders of desperate customers!!
Great
🙏
Dont sell your watches to gray market dealers. Watch what heppens to your time piece price.
Market SATURATION! Lower demand due to few men wearing watches as status symbols. We all KNOW the thing that drives this market is not intrinsic value but rather is the prestige associated with wearing them and with the younger generation getting wise that value is simply artificial.
Never buy from grey market your getting screwd
Rolex is increasing production by 20% lol
Their new factory will easily do that
LOL he's bigging himself up but he's got like 20 watches for sale.
“Watch dealer” remind us all what other brands you have shown interest in this year..all you are is a flipper increasing the prices for all.
Will they being playing these games as part of their business practice, similar to Hermes, Ferrari, Porsche, etc. or will ever go back to normal?
I prefer they keep playing such games because if they don't then all these "luxury" brands will lose their perceived exclusivity status and drive prices below retail.
❤
Garbage - cant even get tbe rrp correct
Hard to believe you would buy two tone watches at retail from the AD and sell under retail unless the AD is selling you extreme hard to get models.
Visited my AD this week had my customary champagne picked up my 17th watch dont give up guys your time will come
Merry Christmas watch lovers ❤
My advice - get rid of your inventory. Watches about to get hammered.
The secondary grey watch market is dead
Interesting to know your reasons?
Mine are:
1 - smartwatch might finish off mechanical where quartz couldn’t.
2 - theft. Flash stuff is just too dangerous now. The tide has turned and people are happier to “eat the rich”
Lol at this nonsense. People are not mostly imbecilies
Won't buy a rolex with the bs games ads play. Tudor suita my needs more then rolex ever will
When the Coke comes back, thats going to get everyone excited about Rolex again.
Not I.
