I walked into the Rolex flagship AD in Beijing. There were 6 staff playing on their phones and none showed any interest in helping me whatsoever, even when I spoke to them. They told me there were ZERO watches for sale at the boutique that day and the waiting time for a Daytona is 14 years!!! I walked up the road into the Breitling flagship, got amazing service and spent $20k on a 46mm rose gold dark green Navitimer which is absolutely stunning, far more than $20k would get you at Rolex. Never buy a product from a brand that doesn't respect you as a customer, ever.
@shanghaiffgg Is it safe to wear a Daytona in China? Here in London, we couldn't wear one without fear of getting stabbed or rubbed. Just asking as we're planning to go to China next year. Good choice with the Navitimer.
14 years for a Daytona is crazy! I did the same and got a Rose gold 43mm black dial Navitimer on a Gator strap from a boutique in Vegas. Love that watch! and didn't have to play games to get it!
I have done the exact same thing. Because they can sell every Rolex x10 that they have they can't be bothered to treat people properly. This AD approach really effects the brand image.
I started buying watches about six months ago. Sold a few of my claasics cars and went on a binge. Bought Brietlings, Omegas, Zenith, Blancpain, Grand Seiko & Tudors. First trip into a Rolex A&D I purchased a Sea Dweller and a Mint dial Datejust. Was told that a couple more would be available in a couple of months. I was dealing with the owner and he seemed genuine in wanting my business. I've never wanted anything, watch, car or firearm to pay over list price.
Geez...and I was feeling guilty for buying myself a Seiko 5 GMT and a Nivada Grenchen Chronoking for XMAS. That is a dream watch splurge there! Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch is my grail watch. What cars did you get rid off to afford that lot?
Another common issue which you didn't mention is when ones "designated" Sales Consultant leaves their role or AD, then your queue position becomes non-existent, it's like never being in the queue as far as the AD is concerned since they don't share a communal "waiting list". Fancy that if one was already waiting for several months to a year or longer to have to go through the rigmarole again to queue at the back and it could still recur with the next Sales Consultant.
Why you gotta keep going in the store every 3-6 months to show face & make sure whoever the salesperson is that directly deals with you first your list is still there. Sane thing with car readerships on limited runs. If the dealer you dealing with isn’t working their anymore you won’t get on that list for say a GT3 RS.
With absolutely zero spend history on anything at all, I got my YM40 four weeks after my first visit to my AD in the summer of ‘23. At the end of last year I spotted a TT DJ41 (Wimbledon, fluted, jubilee) in their window. Asked for it & got it. Earlier this year really wanted a SD43 - my AD got one in for me five weeks after that. Still haven’t spent any money on anything else with them. Not knocking the grey market, but it’s amazing how easy it is to buy the Rolex you want from your AD if you don’t fall for the hype models and/or follow the herd. (UK)
You lost thousands as soon as you started your car, leaving the store. Most watches that you " can't get" are steel and increase in value as soon as you walk out when flipped used or new.
I love your channel! Keep up with the good work. I added my name at my AD in Minnesota for a panda in April 2023. The sales person said it will likely take years (as expected) but then said if I had interest in the Ghost, it would be less than a year wait. Sure enough, I got the call in March, 2024 for a 2024 Ghost and couldn’t be happier. I spent about $7,000 for a diamond ring when I originally requested the panda in 2023. Also, I used this AD to service my GMT Master II the previous year so I had a relationship, but it was not lengthy.
So glad to hear you're enjoying the content mate, I really appreciate the support! 🙌 You're so incredibly fortunate to have secured the Daytona Ghost, congratulations - it's such a special timepiece isn't it 👌💯
I wanted a sub and went in several times over 2 years. The writing was on the wall. I bought a seamaster pro and i love the watch couldn't be happier and won't ever buy a rolex
The smart choice. Honestly, how thirsty would you have to be to put up with Rolex BS. It's your money, spend it with companies that respect their customers. This really is desperate nonsense.
I had a great experience with my AD, Goldsmiths in lakeside. They sold me 5 Rolex in 3 years, including a Pepsi and and blue steel skydweller. If you are nice to the sales people, patient, and not a flipper, you will get what you want!
you did not mention which place it is different place to place ... AD always try to push not in demand product before they sell you something in demand
Exactly. Honest Watch dealer just wants to scare people off going to the AD and come to him for a mark up. No wonder ADs are cautious when they knew people are walking their watches down to flippers like this guy. He’s the issue here.
I visited my Local AD. I’m not a flipper and my goal is to buy two watches for my two boys. I walked away feeling confident that I will get my watches. For me, I am not in a rush. So if you can’t wait, 2nd hand will be your only option.
As long as you dont go in for a Pepsi or Daytona you will usually get your watch just wait up to 2 years otherwise pay minimum 25% over with a grey dealer however pick those wisely!!...The big hitting watches that you make money on flipping you wont get unless you have good spend...bit like walking into Porsche and asking for a GT3 ...
Hi Charlie, always enjoy your Sunday updates.👍I had phone call on Friday from my Rolex AD. I was offered a Starbucks, not something I requested but definitely wouldn’t pass up. Went down yesterday and purchased, the green bezel really pops🤩. I also purchased a JLC unworn Reverso Tribute Chronograph 2024 this week. An absolutely beautiful watch Charlie. The Rolex AD had at least 30 different models of different Rolexs, unfortunately exhibition only. Saw the Paul Newman on Oysterflex and tried on Sundust Oysterflex Daytona. Gorgeous watches Charlie.🤔
So glad to hear you're enjoying the content mate, your support is always appreciated! Congratulations on your purchases, two utterly stunning timepieces! The Oysterflex is such a special reference isn't it, once you've tried it on you will be chasing that watch until you secure it 🙌💯
That one guy on the wait list for 2 years for a datejust... My first ever rolex I was 27 and just walked into my local AD (in the states) and a couple hours later I walked out with a datejust (36mm on oyster, black dial, fluted bezel) after an hour of that being just enjoying some champagne in the private booth area with some other rolex customers. It was honestly a perfect experience, and now i realize i must have been beyond lucky to have that experience given my complete naivety. Poor chap
In 1999 I bought a DJ turno-graph from Goldsmiths in the UK, just saw it in the window, and bought it there and then. I'd never jump through hoops like some would. I love Rolex watches but I've no patience especially when I'm the client.
I’m waiting on this exact watch too (50th birthday). As someone who wasn’t clued up on Rolex I thought in could just walk in and get one within a few weeks. I’ve only been waiting 7 months so far. I hope I don’t have much longer to wait 😢
Very shocking experience this weekend... I have relationships with two ADs. This weekend I went to the flagship stores of both ADs. (I normally shop at stores in the suburbs.) At one AD, my list was empty. At the other, it had one watch that I did not request. Very disappointing, considering my spend history, which is not trivial. I will be working with the flagship stores from now on. My advice is to ask your salesperson to see your list on the computer, and go in on a regular basis and verify it is correct. If you discover problems, find another salesperson, store, AD, etc.
I consider myself as a watch enthusiast, I like to know the details of the watch, history, mechanism, craftsmanship, strap information etc. I was recently on a Cruise ship for 2 weeks where I noted many people wearing Rolex watches. I had the opportunity to speak to 4 of these people regarding their timepieces. None of them knew what model Rolex they were wearing and one of these people was wearing a Rolex Daytona !
Why should a every client be allowed to buy a magic money making item...the AD is giving out winning lottery tickets to those who want to flip..this is not the AD's fault
Can’t fault my AD in Edinburgh. Had a DJ41 green motif and 126610LV in the last two years. I have also got an omega special edition and other jewellery for my wife but I wouldn’t say I have a massive spend history, I just make a point in staying in contact with them! If you want something, you need to make sure that your name is on their tongue.
My Rolex AD sent me a Rolex gift basket this week with a Rolex hat, Rolex pen and green Rolex pad & felt travel roll. I texted her to thank her and reminded her of my desire for a Panda as it’s been 2+yrs since I put in the request. She responded with she thought I was happy with the black dial version she sold me to which I suggested we have different recollections. Then of course I did play “my spending history” card with her bosses as they own 17brand AD’s and that 2 AD’s here where I live had been soliciting me thru friends. Amazingly she texted me this morning and said I can expect a Panda early in 2025. Will keep you informed. Looking forward to buying a piece from you now in 2025. 👊🤙
That's amazing to hear mate, you've clearly built a very good relationship with your AD! Huge congratulations on being allocated the 'Panda' it's such a stunning and iconic timepiece! Good luck with your purchase 🙌💯
I paid a deposit for a date just 36m blue dial, smooth besal and waited just six weeks. I live in North Essex. So i was very happy with that and the whole experience was positive.
When I bought my wife's date just 36 steel with fluted dial back in 2022 I asked for me a sub and they ofered me the two tone and 4 months wait time (watch I would get it fix), but I skiped and waited but did not know if I will get it the steel date model, and after 1 year I got the call. I was 6 months before the call in the shop and bought jewelry in the amount of 5 k.
Congratulations on your purchase mate, you're incredibly fortunate! It's always a good idea to refuse other watches to show genuine interest for the timepiece you want 🙌
I've had decent luck with my AD. Have been a customer for almost 2 decades. Got a datejust first, then no-date sub, bluesy sub, OP 31 with tiffany dial for my daughter, and datejust 31 for my wife - which only took 6 weeks to get. I'm on the list for the Sprite GMT on jubilee bracelet and was quoted 6 months, and black stainless steel daytona - quoted 2 years.
Wow mate, you're very fortunate, you've secured some stunning timepieces! Good luck with your future purchases, the Sprite and black dial Daytona would make such incredible additions to your collection 🙌
I’ve bought from 3 different AD’s. Worst experience was one in a Jewelry Store - AVOID at all cost, it’s real that you have to buy expensive jewelry to get up the list. Remarkably, the best experience was one also in a Jeweler back in my home town; they actually put the watches in a display case the day they get them - I was there 30min before close and saw them getting them and putting them out. So not all AD’s are created equal 😂
0:19 it depends how you are dressed and what watch you already are wearing. I wore my platinum daytona while my partner wore rose daydate and we was offered so many different watches, prices ranging 10k to 70k
Well I wore my Daytona but I can’t get a new Rolex, fair enough as I’m not willing to buy a lot of expensive jewellery or overpriced other watches that lose 40-50% of the value when you walk out the door. Fair enough I understand the AD’s want to maximise profit.
lol Mamateejee is talking about La Difference. It's always like that there. They are the most fair unless you know the top sales/owner. You will rarely EVER get the exact config you want.
how do you get your watches from ADs? do they know you have a company and would they work with companies? would they not just ban you for flipping. please explain how this works
Charlie calls the owner or sales manager at the boutique to tell them he is coming. He knocks on the back door and hands the owner an envelope of cash for the watch + a tip. He gets any watch he needs for his clients… (Just kidding…🥂😁😜)
ADs simply can’t please everyone. They have overwhelming demand for the top watches and they don’t control the watches they receive or the price they sell them, unlike grey dealers. I prefer be patient, pay RRP and not give middle men 20%-100%; I’ve never experienced any games or ‘doing a dance’. That includes receiving a panda, Pepsi, ghost, pikachu & titanium YM. No jewellery, no solid gold under list watches etc etc.
Finally got my bucketlist to own a Skydweller everose with oysterflex, that is exactly 13 months after I've purchased a couple of watches for me and my wife. Worth the wait since there is an initial 5 months cooling off period for client to qualify Rolex purchases
Got 3 Rolex this year from 2 different AD‘s in different places. So far no negative consequences. Waiting for a few more, we‘ll see if and what will come next or if at all.
Couple of weeks ago my AD asked for a down payment if I wanted an OP within 6 months. I didn't want an OP and the offer was not extended to an Explorer / Sub. That was in Denver.
Two ADs in Glasgow - Laings and a boutique - Laings have now followed the Rolex boutique model whereby you can’t even go into the shop and look, you need an appointment, and they won’t even book you an appointment in person, you need to go away and email them and they’ll tell *you* when you can go in to discuss what it is you want.
100% agree with your first answer. I’ve gone to other brands. If you don’t want to take my money someone else will. Disappointing because Rolex was something I’ve wanted to attain someday. They don’t deserve my money.
This also depends on where in the world you are. In NZ there are only two ADs and only limited stock. So the competition for the more desired pieces is high.
Waited 15months for my non date submariner collected in March this year. Ive just been called this morning for Mint green 41 datejust fluted/jubilee picking it up on Saturday. I’ve been lucky I’ve had a great experience with my AD and ive got the watches ive wanted relatively quickly
0:34 I'm not sure if it's a case of 'giving the correct information', but it is the reality here. The demand is just so much more than the UK. I was in an AD out here the other day and overheard someone saying they wanted an Explorer 40mm only for the AD to tell him that he'd have to register on the wish list. I told him that these pieces were available in the UK (I picked up an Air-King the other other month from UK and have seen Explorer models available) to which he told me that he'd tell his sister to bring one for him since she lives in UK and is going to fly over soon.
I walked in Rolex AD in Tenerife, Los Christianos (bought diamond ring for my wife from same store a year ago) and I was treated like I will never would like to go back again. Simlply said sorry we dont have ant thats it. Then went to AD in Del Duque and had better but not good experience, same story sorry we dont have any steel Rolexes. Went to Breitling dealer and I was treated like a client (yeas I wear Aviator8) but service was perfect, I was seated offered viskey and coffe, nise chat with salesman. So as I client I just have more respect for Breitling and new store looks fantastic.
100% I have the same experience. The reason is because you can get a Brietling anywhere, so the dealers have to 'sell' to you so stop you walking down the road to someone else. A Rolex dealer on the other hand knows they can sell any watch they have and they can be rude, exhibit poor service or whatever and they will still sell it. It breeds bad service culture which ultimately damages the brand. I really don't like Rolex AD's for this very reason.
I’ve been on several ad waitlists here in the states for datejust 41 mint green dial jubilee going on two yrs..recently while vacationing in bahamas with family walked in and picked one up..crazy right
I went to an AD for 3 models. Blue sky dweller, Pepsi and black Daytona. They called me a week later for a two tone sky dweller. I told them I prefer waiting on the watch I want. Hopefully I didn’t shoot myself in the foot
@@thehonestwatchdealerI was surprised cause I didn’t have any buy history with them. I have another AD I only bought a blusey from and have not had the greatest success after that one
Sorry to say, but if you went to an AD as a new client, requesting those three watches only, you won’t be getting any of them. Those aren’t watches for first time buyers. If you watch RUclips that should be pretty obvious. The Two tone Sky was a test to see if you are ready to start a buy history. You can’t expect to just walk in and be able to get those right off the bat. The AD really should have made that clear from the get go.
A couple of important things to consider here: 1) You have more chance of a call if registered with more dealers…but…you won’t be spending in each so will likely be way down the priority list. The only real benefit to registering with several ADs is to even up the odds against everyone else who has done the same…so it’s keeping up rather than getting ahead. 2) 20 years wait for a watch - it’s not particularly accurate or meaningful because if you buy nothing else and wait 20 years, then someone else with a far higher and far shorter term spending profile comes along at year 19, they are likely to be prioritised over you. That 20 years is realistically on the assumption no-one else wants one after you and that lots of people in front of you drop out. If you’re told 20 years…and your spending at the AD doesn’t change…I’d consider it more like ‘It’ll never happen’.
The other consideration..,which helps secondary market dealers is that whilst you might pay a premium today, perhaps £15k for a £10k list watch, by the time you get a chance to buy it at list…that price may well be above £15k and secondary above £20k (if you even get a call). So the question is whether you want to pay a short term premium to get something vs ‘saving’ money paying list for an item you may never actually get, or will cost that much more when they do call.
Also…why is it called a grey market and not simply a secondary market? The watches were originally sold via authorised channels (primary market) and now they are being sold on by the original owners through the secondary market. Grey market suggests the watches were obtained and sold outside the manufacturers authorised channel in the first place…which isn’t the case.
14:26 The only thing you can do is to sell the watch with the original invoice as all the details are on it (dial ref, bracelet ref, etc). However, I noticed that the last invoice I got for my purchase was not on a nice paper with embossed logo which makes it hard for a buyer to authenticate it (only the AD can authenticate it). I was told that it would be the new invoice format and not an error. They are getting clever at making the flippers' life hard. ;)
I am obviously an exception. I just got a call from my long time AD. Not buying only RLX. But also nice stuff for my wife and other watch brands. At the end of the year, we meet, and he is asking for my plans buying RLX next year. So I will place an order for a Sky Dweller, a Submariner an a Yacht Master Oysterflex. He even asks me which month a want to receive them. I have only waited a bit longer for my Daytona, which took 2 years to be delivered. Never sold a single watch.
You've clearly built a very good relationship with your AD, so well done mate! You're extremely fortunate to be allocated so many stunning timepieces, congratulations - wear them and enjoy them 🙌👌
That's terrible mate, sorry to hear you've been waiting so long! If you're sick of waiting, find a credible grey market dealer and collect your dream watch on the day 🙌💯
I bought a Tudor gmt in 2020, a Rolex DJ41 fluted bezel, in 2021 and in 2023 a DJ41 smooth bezel for my daughter all from WOS in Birmingham, I’ve already got a sub date not from WOS and asked to be put on the list for 126610lv sub, not even a sniff or a call to see if I’m still interested. The Rolex waiting game is all BS unless your prepared to give a lil back hander to the AD
Glad to hear you're enjoying the content mate, I really appreciate the support! It's such a shame isn't it, clients don't deserve the terrible level of service 🙌
So how are you as a grey market dealer getting these new unworn watches? Are AD's padding their wallets selling out the back door? Not accusing you, sincerely asking. I've been looking for a 36mm Explorer for 2 years and have yet to find one at retail. Great channel and I'm subscribed.
Thank you so much for the support mate, I really appreciate it! Our watches are purchased through our network of long time collectors, general enthusiasts, and flippers 🙌
Took your advise and just went to the grey and got what I wanted! 126710 GRNR bruce Wayne definitely cost me a pretty penny but its better than playing the AD mind games. I have the watch I want and it feels good to not have had to spend stupid money on things that I would Never wear. IF the UK was closer id definitely stop by your shop but it was Japan for me! Fantastic experience
Guess what?! My AD called me and I’m finally getting my brand new 2024 Rose Oysterflex Sundust. However, they also have the same watch in Black Dial. I stared at both of those beauties for a solid 1-hour before pulling the trigger on the Sundust. I literally would have BOTH if I could, but know had to make a selection for one. ☝️ Such stunning pieces…puts my root beer and sub to shame in terms of sheer beauty. I’m smitten 🤩 !! I NEVER got the greatness of the Daytona till today. Holy crap will I be hunting for full precious metal one next year. Hopefully they will be significantly under retail especially the all gold full-metal Pandas 🐼 in all three precious metals. I will come see you in London if so mate!
Wow mate that’s incredible to hear, huge congratulations on your purchase! You’ve secured yourself such a special timepiece - wear it and enjoy it! 👌🏻 The full precious metals continue to follow the under list trend, so whenever you’re ready to make a purchase mate please get in contact, we’d be more than happy to help 🙌🏻💯
@ you were one of those who got me on to the oysterflexes. I would’ve NEVER thought of rubber as luxurious. But I’m glad you and others have convinced me otherwise!
Hi, the content on the channel is quite engaging. I've never bought from the grey market. Could you make one video on how you go about the paperwork? Are there invoices raised? Ownership transfer proofs?
Went to Mappin & Webb Manchester 7 months ago to try and get a no date Sub for the birth of my first grandson due in a week. Had a great chat about watches with a very knowledgeable Rolex host. Wanted a brand new one for 2024 as it will be his birth year. I was put on the list and he has kept in contact with me through email and phone calls, he has offered me alternative models (Bluesy and a Yachtmaster) but I'm sticking to my first choice. I believe he really is trying his best for me and although I do not have the watch yet I think he will come good soon. My experience has been great up to now. Fingers crossed I'll get the call and a healthy grandson before Xmas
Wow that's amazing to hear mate, huge congratulations! I wish you the very best of luck with your purchase - would be an amazing acquisition with so much sentimental value - hopefully you won't be waiting too much longer for the call 🙌💯
Any advice for used watches, I am looking for a 1974 submariner 5513 and I am looking for a submariner 6538 and help and how to shop for vintage watches. Thanks
Do your research and find a credible grey market vintage dealer - there are so many respectable vintage dealers out there that will provide you with a flawless watch and a flawless service 🙌
I bought my GMT Master in 2009 because Rolex were having difficulty selling their stuff the List price was €5800 I paid €5000 it’s served me well with a service after 13 years, I would never go into an AD again.
For generations, Rolex has been the only watch brand for my family. Sadly, loyalty means nothing to Rolex, which I found out when I tried to buy a Daytona for my husband's birthday. The AD basically laughed in my face and said they only sell this watch to their VIP. Two months ago, a friend whom the AD considered a VVIP offered to put his name on the list for me, and within 2 months, he was offered a blue dial white gold Daytona, which I passed because I only wanted a black dial. We have now received confirmation that the watch will arrive in March next year. It doesn't sit well with me that loyal customers like my family, who have been buying Rolex for 7 decades, get treated like outcasts, while my friend, who doesn't wear Rolex, can get any Rolex he wants with no conditions attached because he buys his RM and Patek Philippe from this AD.
That’s terrible to hear, sorry you’ve been treated so poorly! Clients just ask for the respect they deserve and the dream watches they want! Good luck with the Daytona purchase, I’m sure your husband will love it 🙌🏻💯
It's all about the relationship you form. Within a short time, I got a green bezel sub, rootbeer and a steel Daytona. Wasn't troubled with trying to have me buy other stuff I didn't't want. Just asked and got.
4 years ago, I put down 1/2 on a no date Sub and 1/2 on a datejust blue dial fluted bezel at Kimballs AD in Knoxville, TN. I got the datejust in 3 mos and the sub in 2 yrs 3mos. I wanted the sub but, I really do like the datejust. Happy w/ both. Glad I didn't go to the grey market. If you really have to have the watch and I get that then bite the bullet and go to the grey market but if you can wait, go to the AD. I really hate paying over retail but if you have the money then what the hell. The customer service is very disappointing at this AD. Not terrible but when one is dropping $20k, I don't think it is unreasonable to feel like you are being catered to a bit which was just not the case. Indifference was the vibe. If you don't like it, take it on the heel was the feeling I got. It's a strange way to do business but, I guess it's not too uncommon in this field.
@@thehonestwatchdealer thing to understand: people who are commited buying such luxury goods, its not about the money, its about the time piece they want. i bought 126500ln on a grey market, brand new piece for 33k euros, and i am so happy having it. i dont care about price i paid, all i care that i finally i got what i wanted !
I have gotten 2 of my 7 wishlist watches in Texas in 2024 from my primary AD. I have "registered" my wantlist with 4 more and will with 3 more later this month. My primary AD is getting my first non-watch jewelry order tomorrow. I am going old school, if you produce watches for me you will get my other business. I will not buy first with the promise of a later watch.
Your right to not play games and show genuine interest in the watches your wanting! Congratulations on the purchases you've already made, you're incredibly fortunate - good luck with your future purchases mate 🙌💯
I bought a journe Chronometre Bleu and an AP openworked royal oak double balance skeleton with no purchase history in Thailand and Japan. Anything is possible. Beforecovid you could get anything you wanted except steel Daytonas (which is a deliberate rolex sales tactic) I guarantee you, this ease will return.
I love my AD. Got a call for a blue op41. Two weeks later he offered me a chocolate yacht master. I'm a happy bunny. Popping in on Saturday to register for another piece.
In regards to the comment to buy on the grey market, to come in and enjoy the watch… I wouldn’t be able to enjoy it ever, if I would pay anything above retail prices. It I would save on a watch that is brand new unworn below retail, yes, but not if it’s above.
What these dealers are doing is something called tied selling which is illegal in Canada I’m not sure about other countries but if you are in canada you can report them to ROLEX and the government. Tied selling does not only pertain to the bank act it is also applies to retail practices in Canada.
I spent nearly $20k last year on a two tone datejust and cartier santos dumont. Yet, I didn't get a call from my AD on anything. including the standard submariner
It's terrible when they won't provide the watches clients dream of and deserve! Hopefully you'll have the chance to purchase a Submariner soon mate, good luck 🙌
funny comment that most people would be "dead waiting 20 years" for a AD call to buy a steel daytona. If you want a watch that AD's will not release to average buyers, go to a reliable fair reseller and pay a bit more but you get to wear it for the next 20 years instead..
My AD here in Las Vegas WOS is probably the best on the planet!! Very pleased after a 5 year relationship. A proper collection takes time to build. That said Charlie & Josh (LWC) recently helped me to source a 2018 Hulk - authenticity, shipping, communication, and SERVICE all @ 💯 I’ll definitely continue supporting LWC thnx! How much spend do I need @ LWC before Charlie reveals the manufacturer of the white shirts 👕 ?!?!? 😂
Thank you so much for the support mate, it was a pleasure securing you the Submariner Hulk, it's such a special timepiece isn't it 🙌 Haha somethings will never be revealed - money can't buy such secrets 😂💯
DMR in Manchester are a great outfit. Amazing staff and had multiple watches from them. Never have they pushed jewellery onto me. I developed a relationship with them that goes back years, they service my watches and i recommend friends and family to them and i don't flip. Don't expect to walk into any luxury store in the world and ask to buy a limited product with no relationship. Simple economics. Try walking into Porsche and asking for a GT product. Some people are stupid and beyond help.
Lately I’ve been offered watches, YM with the oyster flex, and some others. Glad things are turning around here in the US. One day I’ll get to wear the stainless Daytona. In the meantime the BLNR works perfectly.
Good you said things are better now in the US. Here in Malaysia, the sickening hype fake list is still going strong. I am getting very exhausted from waiting.
@@joonkt3483 hang in there, I think things are slowly turning around. At my location the sales manager had to fill out a message to the boss saying why the person was a good person and should wear a Rolex. I don’t think it was Rolex so much as it was the stainless steel GMT. Odd but he asked me about my occupation, anniversary, birthdays, and even belonging to the Porsche club. A Pilot, a Doctor or even a Salesperson were things they could use to get the harder watches which seemed weird to me but I played along. Now that I own one it’s easier to get offered them.
I live near the AD in Canada that guy was talking about. They don't operate off a list, supposedly. They work on a first come first serve basis, which could theoretically be good if you can get there quick. He was well aware of this as they are very upfront about their system.
I doubt that, why would they sell to first serve if they can sell a watch 20 times if they could? If it was me I would say to all this 20 that if you also buy other things like jewellery and other less in demand watches you will get that Rolex as well at one point, if just one of those 20 people said yes you would probably double the turnover of the shop and it would be absolutely stupid not to do it. And that’s WHY they are doing it.
They don't sell jewelry...they only sell Rolex and Tudor. Rarely have steel stock of either. Sorry but you have no clue. They don't try and push anything on you. I'm actually shocked this guy even got a call because it's supposed to be on the customer to call for stock checks.
@@Blazemon9999 Well if that’s the case they must have a long queue of people outside the shop every morning hoping to be lucky on the day. Who wouldn’t be number one in that queue every morning lucky to get maybe a Batman or a Daytona to sell on with a profit?
@@truxton1000ya I guess if you have nothing going on in your life then you could sit out there every morning lol. It's a small AD so I don't think they get many daytonas or batmans. We have much larger ADs here in Toronto with waitlists and I wouldn't doubt the big ones get way better allocations. Last time I was in the AD in question they only had a 2 tone sub and gold skydwelller. None of the good Tudors even. The fact that this particular one works on a first come basis could work to the benefit of someone like you mentioned though, which is why I think it's kind of remarkable. Live close by, call on the right day at the right time and who knows. Deep down inside though, I wouldn't doubt they have a VIP list for the really good stuff.
@@Blazemon9999 I think they must have some kind og vip list as there are still models that sell a fair bit over list so it would be to give money away to just sell to anyone.
I've had bad luck with my ADs. Not sure if they are judging me on looks and don't want me associated with them. I will point out one AD because they are a complete PoS. CD Peacock in Oakbrook, IL. They flat out told me they have no waitlist. They refused to explain how they sold their Rolex watches without one and how they choose who gets one. They only told me there are people waiting for certain models. Yet they don't have a waitlist. But they will keep sending me spam talking about their new store they just had built and I should make a reservation to come see it in person. Other ADs have told me their lists are full and can't add more people to it. There was ONE AD that did take my information and put me on their list. Its been close to 2 years now and haven't heard anything from them.
I actually got offered 2 different watches within a couple months of each other but had to pay half down on a deposit and was told I would receive the watches within 6-9 months.
@ I’ve spoken with other ADs and they thought that process was peculiar. It honestly makes me a little nervous but I do have receipts and texts and I was offered a couple above list models so I’ll be very pleased once I get them
I've just brought my second rolex this year. It's my dream to hopefully get a daytona one day.i have a 2021 deepsea dweller black dial. And a 2023 explorer 2 black dial with boxes and papers and stickers still on.would you say it's worth trading them in for a daytona.
Stunning collection James! The Daytona is the one to aim for, however it depends if you enjoy the variety of two watches or would be happy with just the one!
Ive just started collecting since ive got hooked on your videos,so ive brought 2 for myself and a lady date for the wife this year. And every bit of spare cash goes to saving for the next one. But to have a daytona I suppose is a collectors dream.i would love get that from you one day @thehonestwatchdealer
Trying to decide between the Panda and the Ghost, both the previous reference models. I have the new reference black dial and I'd consider trading against either of them. I can't make my mind up!
Two utterly unbelievable models, they’d both make incredible additions to any collection! Whichever one you choose will bring you so much enjoyment 🙌🏻💯
@@thehonestwatchdealerwhichever I choose will be part of my two and done collection. The other watch is my Hulk. I often consider exchanging the Hulk and making up the difference in cash so I could get both the Panda and Ghost, but I'm afraid I'd have 2 black eyes like the Panda if my wife found out!
I have the opportunity to buy a white dial yellow gold oysterflex daytona…… I initially wanted and was waiting for the black dial one should I buy the white dial? Or wait ?
Iv had great success with my AD in Kent. Part of WOS I first registered in mid 2021 come December I got fluted, jubilee Wimbledon 41mm. Six months later I then got Pepsi, in the same year I also got mint green fluted date just but on oyster, I then got offered bluesy on a random I just popped in and he said we have the blue sub coming in tomorrow if you want it that was in 2023 and then went quiet for a year but got the Bruce Wayne in May this year. I don’t do anything with my AD other than pop in when passing and email every few months. Never given gift etc
Walking in an AD and them saying out of stock but fully displayed 😳. Them saying you have to waitlist and you just know that waitlist isn’t true 😂. So buyer just checked out seiko.😅
I wish you all the best of luck with whatever path you choose to purchase that dream watch! I must’ve been lucky. Got my first choice after a four month wait! I had zero purchase history but the AD told me it was how genuine I was and I took time to get to know the folks that worked at the Rolex AD! Take care!
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I’m very fortunate, I was expecting to wait much longer. Very pleased with the watch and the whole experience with the AD in general. I’m in NZ and they took the white tag, said Rolex policy.
really good experience from my AD Loupe in Milton Keynes received my explorer 2 white face after a year no other jewellery or other watch purchases expected also my point off contact left before i received my watch but i was just transferred to another sales person i am listed for a green bezel sub hopefully that comes in fairly quickly . watches are bought to wear i will eventually list for a gmt or Daytona and hand my explorer and sub over to my 2 grown children
That’s amazing to hear mate, congratulations on your purchase, it’s a stunning model isn’t it! Good luck with your Starbucks purchase, hopefully you won’t be waiting too much longer for the call 🙌🏻💯
That's a really popular model and is incredibly sought after, typically you'll be put onto a waitlist, but good luck with your purchase mate, hopefully you won't be waiting too long for the call 🙌💯
Good choice with the Navitimer.
u wont get daytona
14 years for a Daytona is crazy! I did the same and got a Rose gold 43mm black dial Navitimer on a Gator strap from a boutique in Vegas. Love that watch! and didn't have to play games to get it!
I have done the exact same thing. Because they can sell every Rolex x10 that they have they can't be bothered to treat people properly. This AD approach really effects the brand image.
@@louisemann3306 yes it is. Zero risk of having it taken off your wrist here
I started buying watches about six months ago.
Congratulations on all your purchases mate, you’re building an impressive collection! Wear them and enjoy them mate 🙌🏻💯
Exactly how it is. The sales rep makes your case with the manager and if your sales rep leaves, the future is uncertain
You're so incredibly fortunate to have secured the Daytona Ghost, congratulations - it's such a special timepiece isn't it 👌💯
I wanted a sub and went in several times over 2 years. The writing was on the wall. I bought a seamaster pro and i love the watch couldn't be happier and won't ever buy a rolex
So pleased you managed to get a watch you love! It’s such a stunning watch, enjoy it mate!
If you got the call you would.
Some great models you’ve gotten there! Seems like you have a great relationship with the AD! That’s definitely the best way to go about it 👌🏻
you did not mention which place it is different place to place ... AD always try to push not in demand product before they sell you something in demand
I’ve got the new gmt and a green dial datejust within 12 months of knowing my ad
I have bought from them previously but overall my experience with them has not been particularly positive. I've found others that are far better.
Exactly. Honest Watch dealer just wants to scare people off going to the AD and come to him for a mark up. No wonder ADs are cautious when they knew people are walking their watches down to flippers like this guy. He’s the issue here.
Proud to have my comment featured on the channel. Always love content coming out of LWC. Love from New Jersey USA.
Thank you for the question mate, and appreciate you watching over in New Jersey! 🙏
The week is not complete until Charlie is talking watches.
Haha thanks mate! Appreciate you watching, hope you enjoyed it!
I visited my Local AD. I’m not a flipper and my goal is to buy two watches for my two boys. I walked away feeling confident that I will get my watches. For me, I am not in a rush. So if you can’t wait, 2nd hand will be your only option.
Great Idea to pass down to your boys! Yes if you don’t mind waiting by all means. Hopefully you get the call soon!
The thing is if you don’t buy other stuff there you probably would not get the call, well maybe if it’s less desirable watches like Air King or OP.
We are on the end of yhe covid era of hype. Rolex will beat walk in eventually (except deliberately limiting steel Daytonas and pepsis)
Poor chap
Ah incredible, sounds like a wonderful experience! Yes you must’ve got lucky there, enjoy the watch mate, stunning piece! 🙌
Which year was that?
Champagne in the private booth area? Where is this place?
Very shocking experience this weekend... I have relationships with two ADs. This weekend I went to the flagship stores of both ADs. (I normally shop at stores in the suburbs.) At one AD, my list was empty. At the other, it had one watch that I did not request. Very disappointing, considering my spend history, which is not trivial. I will be working with the flagship stores from now on. My advice is to ask your salesperson to see your list on the computer, and go in on a regular basis and verify it is correct. If you discover problems, find another salesperson, store, AD, etc.
Rolex clearly do not want your business. Go to another brand and don't waste your time with R.
Interesting point mate and I’m sorry to hear about your experience! It’s terrible the way some Rolex ADs handle clients 🙌🏻
Why should it be a "magic money making item" in the first place? If the models ara available *poof* - magic money-making is gone.
I mean, even if you get a ghost you’re only making £3-4K if you flip it, hardly life changing
What are you seeing in the grey market for the Yacht 42 titanium?
👊🤙
Great job working the AD to get the watch you want!
It’s always good to have a relationship with the boss , or the owner is even better.
Independent or group?
Congratulations on securing such a stunning timepiece mate, wear it and enjoy it 🙌
If you pay 30-100 percent over list on the GM to get a watch, one is a moron. And you feed and exacerbate the issue, FFS.
The experience definitely depends on the specific AD. Different ADs will use different sales tactics - always be prepared and remain vigilant 🙌
Thank you for the Q&A Charlie open and honest as ever and thank you for your advice see you soon . 💥💥👍🏻
Thanks for watching Paul, hope you’re keeping well! Hopefully see you soon 👍
how do you get your watches from ADs? do they know you have a company and would they work with companies? would they not just ban you for flipping. please explain how this works
Charlie calls the owner or sales manager at the boutique to tell them he is coming. He knocks on the back door and hands the owner an envelope of cash for the watch + a tip. He gets any watch he needs for his clients…
(Just kidding…🥂😁😜)
😂😂😂@@dannysimenauer5745
ADs simply can’t please everyone. They have overwhelming demand for the top watches and they don’t control the watches they receive or the price they sell them, unlike grey dealers. I prefer be patient, pay RRP and not give middle men 20%-100%; I’ve never experienced any games or ‘doing a dance’. That includes receiving a panda, Pepsi, ghost, pikachu & titanium YM. No jewellery, no solid gold under list watches etc etc.
Agreed. I've only ever bought the watches I want.
exactly.
Finally got my bucketlist to own a Skydweller everose with oysterflex, that is exactly 13 months after I've purchased a couple of watches for me and my wife. Worth the wait since there is an initial 5 months cooling off period for client to qualify Rolex purchases
Congratulations Jeromy! Such a stunning watch, enjoy it! 👌🏻
Really interesting to hear mate, maybe this could become a new trend with entry level models...🙌
I’m pretty sure they were just trying get my spend up before giving me an above list watch that I wanted
That’s terrible to hear mate, no client wants to be treated in such a way 🙌🏻
@@thehonestwatchdealer then why do they put up with it.
We’ve heard from multiple clients how difficult purchasing a watch in NZ can be! Good luck with any future purchases mate 🙌🏻

You are an excellent resource to these buyers who are waiting years for a certain watch!
Thank you mate, really appreciate that! 🙏 thanks for watching
I’ve been on several ad waitlists here in the states for datejust 41 mint green dial jubilee going on two yrs..recently while vacationing in bahamas with family walked in and picked one up..crazy right
Wow incredible! Really great watch, enjoy it! 👌🏻
I went to an AD for 3 models. Blue sky dweller, Pepsi and black Daytona. They called me a week later for a two tone sky dweller. I told them I prefer waiting on the watch I want. Hopefully I didn’t shoot myself in the foot
Wise decision there! Yes heavily underlist that one, best to wait out for the one you want 👍
@@thehonestwatchdealerI was surprised cause I didn’t have any buy history with them. I have another AD I only bought a blusey from and have not had the greatest success after that one
@@aaronmauer7225why were you surprised on a TT Skydweller? Dealers can’t get rid of them….
@@KeepingWatchUKreally? I figured sky dwellers in general were hard to get no mater the configuration
A couple of important things to consider here:
1) You have more chance of a call if registered with more dealers…but…you won’t be spending in each so will likely be way down the priority list.
Really good points, mate! Definitely something to think about before wasting time on the waitlist 🙌
They are getting clever at making the flippers' life hard. ;)
love your videos. I am into property.I bought 2 houses recently and told the wife im going to buy 8 more then get a Rolex to mark the occassion.
So glad to hear you’re enjoying the content, I really appreciate the support! That’s amazing to hear, good luck mate 🙌🏻💯

I've been on the list for two years for Sub, Batman, & Pepsi I don't think ill ever get the call.
Not always the case.
You've done really well securing those watches so congratulations mate! Hopefully you won't be waiting too much longer for the Starbucks 🙌
Thank you for the video. Sad to hear about how bad the AD experience is for most. I can relate 😢

DFW ADs are like that. I was just in one today and he basically told me it’s “all about status”…aka spend
It’s weird to go in a shop and there’s nothing for sale. They may as well have no staff.

I use DMR in Liverpool, absolutely fantastic service with a great relationship with them. I can see however why people go to the grey.
That's great to hear mate, hopefully you maintain that relationship and continue achieving your dream timepieces 🙌
Why not buy it second hand, nothing wrong with that.
I put myself on the list for a Datejust 126334 in October of 2023 at my local AD. Last month I decided to go to the grey and I'm glad I did.
Congratulations mate it’s such a stunning watch, you won’t be disappointed! 🙌
The full precious metals continue to follow the under list trend, so whenever you’re ready to make a purchase mate please get in contact, we’d be more than happy to help 🙌🏻💯
@ you were one of those who got me on to the oysterflexes. I would’ve NEVER thought of rubber as luxurious. But I’m glad you and others have convinced me otherwise!
Most Australian ads hold back the white tag too but grey dealers over here still call them full sets. Irritating
Hi, the content on the channel is quite engaging. I've never bought from the grey market. Could you make one video on how you go about the paperwork? Are there invoices raised? Ownership transfer proofs?
So glad to hear you’re enjoying the content, mate! Interesting suggestion, I’ll speak to the RUclips team and see what we can do 🙌🏻
Went to Mappin & Webb Manchester 7 months ago to try and get a no date Sub for the birth of my first grandson due in a week.
Just picked it up today well chuffed 😁
Any advice for used watches, I am looking for a 1974 submariner 5513 and I am looking for a submariner 6538 and help and how to shop for vintage watches. Thanks
Do your research and find a credible grey market vintage dealer - there are so many respectable vintage dealers out there that will provide you with a flawless watch and a flawless service 🙌
Do you get the white tag if you buy from an AD in the UK?
99% of the watches we see purchased from a UK Authorised Dealer come with the white swing tag as part of the full set! 🙌
I bought my GMT Master in 2009 because Rolex were having difficulty selling their stuff the List price was €5800 I paid €5000 it’s served me well with a service after 13 years, I would never go into an AD again.
Ah incredible! Those were the days, I bet it has some great stories to tell! Enjoy it 👌🏻
For generations, Rolex has been the only watch brand for my family.
Wow mate, that's amazing to hear! You're incredibly fortunate to have secured such stunning models, congratulations 🙌
Another great video Charlie. Thanks for again highlighting the game. Look forward to every week from Dave the Drummer
So glad to hear you’re enjoying the content mate, I really appreciate the support, thank you 🙌🏻👌🏻
4 years ago, I put down 1/2 on a no date Sub and 1/2 on a datejust blue dial fluted bezel at Kimballs AD in Knoxville, TN.
If offered a steel sea dweller 43mm at an AD - is that a pass or buy from your side of the desk? Are they as popular as date subs?
Unfortunately these would be underlist now. If to sell on pass, if to buy to wear and enjoy then go for it! 🙌
Go for it.
I've had both, the seadweller is far better watch.
I bought it for my father in the end - he’s going to wear it and really enjoy it. It’s nice to actually just buy one from the shop front for a change!
It's a nice watch to wear. Stands out more than the sub.
im on my 3rd year with my AD for absolute ANY time piece... hows that?
That’s terrible mate, clients are fed up of the endless waiting! People simply want the dream timepieces they deserve 🙌🏻
I will have my GMT, wimbleton DJ and 2 tone GMT in 2025. If I have to go to the secondary market then Rolex has lost a 38 year collector.
Your right to not play games and show genuine interest in the watches your wanting! Congratulations on the purchases you've already made, you're incredibly fortunate - good luck with your future purchases mate 🙌💯
@@thehonestwatchdealer thank you, I enjoy the videos
I bought a journe Chronometre Bleu and an AP openworked royal oak double balance skeleton with no purchase history in Thailand and Japan. Anything is possible. Beforecovid you could get anything you wanted except steel Daytonas (which is a deliberate rolex sales tactic)
I guarantee you, this ease will return.
how much did you pay for the FP Journe CB?
I love my AD. Got a call for a blue op41. Two weeks later he offered me a chocolate yacht master. I'm a happy bunny.
Popping in on Saturday to register for another piece.
Wow mate that's amazing to hear, you're incredibly fortunate! You're beginning to build an impressive collection - wear them and enjoy them 🙌👌
In regards to the comment to buy on the grey market, to come in and enjoy the watch… I wouldn’t be able to enjoy it ever, if I would pay anything above retail prices.
It I would save on a watch that is brand new unworn below retail, yes, but not if it’s above.
Very insightful video, it's an eye-opener! 👁️🗨️
There is no waitlist! You get the watch once they see you as valuable customer.
If you say so. Bought many?
@@wristopia4101 Me not. I am not a valuable customer 😀
@@wristopia4101 No. I am not a valuable customer. I do not buy lots of other watches or juwelery.
Wrong
What these dealers are doing is something called tied selling which is illegal in Canada I’m not sure about other countries but if you are in canada you can report them to ROLEX and the government. Tied selling does not only pertain to the bank act it is also applies to retail practices in Canada.
What’s the odds of getting a royal oak from AP? Pretty much know answer but want to hear you opinion.
Enjoyable video Charlie.
Thanks for the support mate, I really appreciate it! All the best 🙌🏻💯
Dear bro, wanna know about Daytona which one understand who we are. I’m just got submarine and GMT. Then, what ever will be will be ✌🏻
funny comment that most people would be "dead waiting 20 years" for a AD call to buy a steel daytona. If you want a watch that AD's will not release to average buyers, go to a reliable fair reseller and pay a bit more but you get to wear it for the next 20 years instead..
Exactly mate, people are fed up of the games and all the waiting! Clients simply want the dream watches that they deserve 🙌
Thank you so much for the support mate, it was a pleasure securing you the Submariner Hulk, it's such a special timepiece isn't it 🙌
Haha somethings will never be revealed - money can't buy such secrets 😂💯
@@thehonestwatchdealer facts 💯 😂😂
DMR in Manchester are a great outfit. Amazing staff and had multiple watches from them. Never have they pushed jewellery onto me. I developed a relationship with them that goes back years, they service my watches and i recommend friends and family to them and i don't flip. Don't expect to walk into any luxury store in the world and ask to buy a limited product with no relationship. Simple economics. Try walking into Porsche and asking for a GT product. Some people are stupid and beyond help.
My AD, small mom and pop store, had a daytona ghost on oysterflex for sale on display.
The BLNR is such a stunning model isn't it mate, you're incredibly fortunate to have one in your collection! Good luck with your Daytona purchase 🙌
That’s terrible to hear mate, so sorry you’ve had such a bad experience! No client deserves to be treated in that way 🙌🏻
I actually got offered 2 different watches within a couple months of each other but had to pay half down on a deposit and was told I would receive the watches within 6-9 months.
That’s really interesting to hear mate, good luck with all your future purchases! Wear the watches and enjoy them 🙌🏻💯
@ I’ve spoken with other ADs and they thought that process was peculiar.
I have the opportunity to buy a white dial yellow gold oysterflex daytona…… I initially wanted and was waiting for the black dial one should I buy the white dial? Or wait ?
Both models are currently trading at below retail price, and we'd always advise that you buy what you like - so I'd wait for the black dial mate 👌
Love watches but not keen on inside info. Why are Rolex Brand at their price point? Where is the value to the buyer
