    I have been following your videos with great anticipation of getting my EX30 here in the US. With still no firm delivery date here in the US, I’m tired of waiting. After driving a 2024 RWD Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited, I’m going to lease one. The Ioniq 5 is an amazing vehicle. It’s the first EV with a spacious interior that makes me feel like I am in my i3. Anyone who has owned an i3 knows what I mean. Of course the current $10,000 off MSRP, a salesman and dealership behind in their February sales quotas, the fact the dealership has 15 sitting in the lot, helped greatly in the negotiation process. After 7 years in an i3 I will miss it. It’s just for time for a change. If BMW could figure out how to make the i3 a $35,000 BEV, I think it would sell well in today’s market.

      When I bought my i3 94Ah it had $10k off through PG&E (the California electric utility and wildfire starting company) as well as the $7500 tax credit, which all together brought it to $32k. If the 120Ah version or even upgraded version was still available it might sell in California but I can't see it anywhere else.

    Nice one but I think the main question about whether is the proper Volvo or not its mainly based on your long term experience having owned so many Volvo’s but for some of us, it’s a Volvo 😂 💯 percent
    And yet again even though you know Volvo brand but I believe EX30 is something none of us has seen before it doesn’t look like any other car they have ever made, which is good for new customers like myself… 😂😂😂

    Thx, a lot of questions not covered by manual, 1/ difference between one petal and auto 2/is one petal more efficient?3/is there a reason why battery not pre conditioned while preconditioning climate and charging at home. Final input, my XC40 came with huge 48amp charging cable that others charge lots for. Your videos help, we are struggling with full EV over here

      Regarding your questions.
      Both one and two will be answered in my video that's dropping on Thursday. And no3. The EX30 has preconditioning of the battery when entering a high speed charger, also with a arrival SOC over 20%

    WHy would it not be a Volvo? One Volvo I had was a 2006 s40 and it was built on a Ford Focus platform. I tried other cars on that platform, including the Mazda 3 and the Focus. Neither of them felt like an S40. Something about the body structure, shock damping, steering feel, felt very much like a Volvo. So, I don't think a shared platform is enough to make it not feel like a Volvo. The rest of the car is done by the same people that did the XC40 .The same teams of people. The difference between electric and ICE cars is the electric motors don't matter so much to give a feel for the car. So, it's other things that make for that feel.
    For me this is the closest thing to the C30 for modern Volvo. It's just Volvo is more a crossover/SUV company now than when the C30 was on the market. And the C30 was built on the Focus platform. If you feel the C30 wasn't a true Volvo, the EX30 is not a true Volvo. If you feel it is, the EX30 then should be a true Volvo.

    Are you sure that the XC30 conditions the battery at all. I have been told by Volvo Canada that my 2024 XC40 will not. I am not even sure that climate pre conditioning draws off the charger when plugged in?

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes. The EX30 will condition the battery. Same with Volvo's XC40. They both precondition the battery before arrival fast charges. If it's entered into the cars navigation

    My main dislike after out test drive here in the UK (RWD/single motor 64kWh) was the very ineffective "1 pedal driving" mode which seemed to have hardly any re-gen effect. Also does this do WIRELESS Apple Car Play?. We did not link up our iPhones on the test drive so we don't know. Thanks

    I was Totally convinced that I would purchase this car -until I test drove it this past weekend. This car is actually not that cheap and the interior is shocking in terms of quality. There is no cupholder at the back for children, no armrest. Like you, I was also annoyed that if I was carrying shopping bags I’d have to put them down and press a button to open the rear tailgate. I live in a very hot climate, if I take the ultra spec , I am forced to take the sunroof which will make the interior cabin too hot , given that there is no sunshade and also no air conditioning vents at the back of the cabin for the children. this is just unacceptable…so sadly I’ve ruled this one out, and I’m now looking at BMW IX3 and the Mercedes EQA.

    Do you like the driving position when compared to XC40? Curious because in the older ICE platform the batteries were placed more around the driver instead of underneath. In the new EV platform you are sitting like on top of a skateboard. Do you think this affects driving experience?

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  6 месяцев назад

      Well, it's good enough, but I get a better driving position in my XC40. So prefer that. Well the battery are placed ON the floor in XC40, but IN the floor of EX30.. Center of gravity gets lower down that's always a benefit.

  • @stevecade857
    @stevecade857 7 месяцев назад +2

    The big feature for getting the twin over the single motor version for me is that you gain AWD. That's a feature I hope you can expand on once you have one to test. Hopefully the snow comes back to give it a good test. I know you can have it in regular RWD drive mode saving energy with the front motor coming in when more traction is need or select performance mode to make it AWD but how is the regular transition to AWD in poor conditions when making a turn. I think there is a slight delay switching to AWD as born out by slower 0-60 mph times compared to performance mode. I'd expect the cutting in to unsettle the car mid-turn when you really want smoothness.

    I'm new to Volvo, the EX30 (I'm in the USA & have placed a $500 Deposit), and also new to you and your videos. I have become a fan of yours... I appreciate the time and effort you have invested in informing us in regards to the EX30!!! Regarding the EX30... First I think it is a beautiful car, it fits the needs of the wife and me just fine, we live in an urban environment,, don't need the back seat, and I think one can not beat the current Price/performance ratio of the EX30. In regards to Volvo the company, I have two issues: 1) We USA future customers have not heard ***one word*** from Volvo about when we can even order our EX30s??? 2) I'm watching the European Rollout... I think many of the reviews, not only yours, but everyone's, have been spoiled by the reviewer utilizing prerelease, not ready for prime-time EX30s! I think this scenario has caused a lot of unnecessary stress for both reviewers and viewers! I think it was a huge mistake for them not to send out a stable software release OTA before allowing reviews... Just my opinion! Thank you!!

      @volvo_kristian  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks so much for those kind words 😊 Appreciated.
      Sad to hear the US communication aren't sufficient. Hopefully Volvo will improve. Rapidly.
      Then you're last point. Absolutely agree. However, they waited several weeks before letting reviewers test it. Couldn't even borrow them at local dealerships. Only regular customers. Was awaiting a software update. But as we see, it's still work to be done. Will probably be like this for several months. And can't hold back so long

      @@volvo_kristian Well, I appreciate you and your fellow European EX30 owners/fans basically being our (USA) Beta Testers! It is all so MS Windows-like... I don't think they've ever released an OS that was totally baked!! Now every vendor of everything wants the customers to do their final QA for them. Anyway, I'm a new subscriber!

    So interesting what you said about the steering wheel. I had my first chance to sit in an EX30 at my local Volvo dealer. (Loved how they had parked a moss yellow outside at the entrance bringing one coloured car to the sea of non coloured Volvo's in the carpark) I thought this is the new Volvo wheel for the next models so I better check it out. And I wasn't really feeling it. Interesting to hear your take on it.

  • @rod2625

    As a US retired couple currently driving a 2013 BMW X3 with 54,000 miles the EX30 RWD extended range is currently at the top of my list as a replacement. We are not in a situation where need a new car immediately so we can wait. Hoping they iron out some issues that have come to light as well make some improvements on the charging and range. I have to think in another year there will be some battery chemistry breakthroughs starting to be implemented in production vehicles. My other thought is that manufacturers will make improvements in their heat pumps. To my knowledge there currently is no way to gauge how efficient the Geely heat pump is compared to others.
    Thanks for your videos and looking forward to your upcoming ones.

      Glad you liked my EX30 content 👍 Yeah there's constant development on battery technology, so understand you want to wait. But on the other side there will always be something better in the horizon, so at some point you just have to jump on the train. Have you checked out the biggest XC40?
