That doesn't bother me as much as the various car notifications/warnings not being right in front of you. I feel like that would be reason enough to make a small digital screen right above the steering wheel.
I was worried about lack of driver display-but when test driving, it didn’t bother me at all. The top of the screen is high enough to keep your gaze on the road and feels really natural. What DID bother me is that the driver information (speed, speed limit, charge etc) occupies a small fraction of the touchscreen, which is otherwise very busy with maps and little control icons. It’s distracting-and if you’re not using sat nav, kind of unnecessary. Hoping the touchscreen display will become more customizable in future.
I didn't that much like stocks and how they arranged. Well those are still coming at early March with my EX30. Also the think that you well pointed out, there is not that many configuration options available for screen and how buttons are placed.
The shortcuts in the lower right are dynamic so they will change based on what the car is currently doing. So if it's parked I believe it will show the open trunk shortcut, if it's charging it'll show the disconnect cable shortcut, etc.
In recent years I have noticed this disturbing trend that more and more manufacturers are making products without proper quality control and it is up to consumers to test them, report issues and hope for quick solutions :( If this is a phone, TV or similar consumer electronics that we are talking about, the worst thing that can happen is wrecking your nerves but a half-baked car might be a life-threatening experience.
Regarding the wiper dial, every time you twist it, there should be a graphic displayed on the top of the infotainment display that tells you which mode you are in. I saw this in another video. Regarding the shortcuts, I thought you're able to drag the apps you want on there. I've seen shortcuts for RUclips as well as the trunk on there. I think that's why you see the glovebox in the car controls menu, so that you can always go back and map it to your shortcuts if you prefer.
3:08 - Can you see on the car's manual for what is the blue colour sign on the label of the charging flap? On ZEEKER X is for V2L discharging function, but EX30 is supposed not to support V2L. So, what does that mean?
In most cars you have an unlock button next to the charging port, that will stop charging and release cable if you have a car key. Simple, convenient, safe.
You have to recalibrate the windows, with up and down, holding the buttons, see the cars manual. Unplugging the charging cable, should work, with just unlocking the car, according to the manual.
I've tried resetting the windows. I've owned several Volvo's so I've learned that trick. Sadly didn't work. Regarding to the cable. I learned yesterday that it unlocks when the battery reaches its charging limit 👍
Great video Kristin, I have a question, if you are sat in the car at night how do you turn the headlights off, they go off when you lock the car but if you are inside the remain on.
Thanks for the good and funny Video. Do you also have huge problems with the keyless key? Mine opens and closes whenever he wants or even not. Its so unconsistent. The car never opens when im going straight to the trunk so i have to go all around to the drivers door and hopefully it opens then. Also the approach light is hardly ever working. Thanks again for the great Video!
Do you know if the passenger wing mirror dips when in reverse. An important thing to have in the uk. So many annoying curbs to avoid when parking. Cheers
Can't you do everything through the AI? Can you ask google to turn on the wipers, open the glove box, turn on headlights, and to put down the rear windows? That's a big feature that was advertised.
It can do very little in terms of car stuff, I tried the windows myself during the test drive and it couldn't do that. Basically I think you can only control climate functions and the radio through Google Assistant at least as of now.
@volvo_kristian normally I wouldn't, but with there being no buttons, I thought that would be a cool feature. They advertised it that way on the reveal.
I'll be honest, the charging cable not being able to disconnect is dumb. My morning routine on my Polestar is litterally press the disconnect button on the charge port and take out the cable. Now I'd have to open the car door (which is hard because that's where my cable is going to be), crawl in through a partially open door, disconnect the cable, crawl back out to remove it. Or walk around to the passenger side and go in from there. Lets hope there is a diconnect option in the app or something because this is shocking. I'd have to rewire and mount my charger to the roof. The shortcuts not being rebindable is also dumb. I've never used my glovebox and as mentioned the defroster and hazards already have buttons. I also feel like Bluetooth rebinding and such don't need shortcuts, you really only use that once. Might want some app shortcuts, Navigate to home/work buttons or a way to switch on performance AWD easily
Supposedly it should give you 30 seconds after the car is unlocked, which doesn't seem to happen here, but Kristian also opens the door which might trigger it to lock again 🤷♂️ The charging indicator used to just be circular LED when I saw the production models had the LED in a lightning shapeinstead that looked like a button I was hopeful that they had added a disconnect button, missed opportunity IMO.
@@Thomas-Larsen I checked the manual and it states that the car automatically unlocks the cable if charging stops, it relocks the cable if you don't remove it in an unspecified amount of time. I presume that means it isn't linked to the car unlocking (because what if you want to sit in your car while charging). It might be slightly smart about it if the charging is done (or it might not) but if it is in progress this video shows exactly how the manual describes it.

Hi Kristian, Short question is there a possibility for quick charging with a caravan connected to the car in Norway? I just would like to know what the name is, in NL this is FastNed…
Thanks for your reply, I am in Uk and my EX30 extended range is not very efficient , It has only done 400 miles and is returning between 0.30 to 0.32 kWh all the time. I note that your tests and Kris Rifa’s are around the 0.23 to 0.25 kWh, a big difference. I have driven a 34.7 mile test drive this morning and returned 11.4 kWh used 0.32. The car was driven on mixed roads in dry conditions and kept to speed limits. Comments please.

Regarding the unlocking of the charge cable, I have a Tesla (moving to an EX30 soon) and this is normal behaviour. Unfortunately, we have certain people that could otherwise disconnect your car while it is on public charge and plug the cable into their own vehicle. If the EX30 app follows Tesla functionality then you should be able to initiate a cable disconnect from your phone.
My point is that it should disconnect when I'm approaching. And the car unlocks. However I've later realised that the EX30 will unlock the cable when your battery reached the preset charge limit 👍
