    As much as I like this drone and really want it, I won't buy it until a proper controller comes with it for the price.
    The drone plus the new v2 goggles, an extra battery, and the proper two-hands controller puts this up near $2,000 USD in price. Yet if we are to save money and just use the motion controller, we don't have the full functionality of the drone; which also feels like a rip-off.
    I think it's very misleading of DJI to advertise this drone with so much content from influencers all using the larger controller, only to quietly leave out that it's not included.
    I do appreciate Matti's review of the motion controller to really test out how customers will most often experience the drone, but till a proper controller is added I'd rather have a Mini 3 pro for half the price, a much longer battery life, under 249g in weight, and a proper controller.

      I feel like the complete package requires both but DJI doesn't offere a complete package because there is another function only a few mention which is the head motion control with the motion controller but I think only Roter Riot demonstrated this. That feature of being able to control the camera by looking around and and panning and tilting with the motion controller seems like a big deal for some creative cinematography!

      @@mattih No one could blame you creators but I love this video and it makes a valid point about newb ability I know a lot of people who destroyed the OG FPV within a day. Now we need another video about the head motion controls in the new goggles please?!

    • @BlueDroneBlues
      @BlueDroneBlues 2 года назад

      @@OverTheTopLive Yea, I tried the motion control on the new goggles 2 and found you have to turn your head in the direction you want to go, but not just tilt left or right, but you have to turn around and face the other direction to come back with the drone. I didn't mess with it too much. The motion controller is just much better and less nauseating than using the goggles to fly around.
      Like others, wish we all would have gotten the right controller and at the very least this is the 1st time buying a drone that came with no carrying case that DJI now wants to jack all its customers another $129 bucks I think for it.

    including the motion controller rather than the more difficult one was a sign they care about the consumer and their enjoyment, rather than making money off of them knowing they would crash right away (and maybe buy another or pay to fix it) if they included the other controller. I say its a plus that they included the easier controller, and once people become accustomed to FPV, they can buy the other controller

    I thought the motion controller is better than most people think, especially for newbs. I was shooting gaps with in a minute unlike when i first started full acro/manual with my other drones. This being said, it doesn't "dive" or pitch fast enough unlike a traditional fpv drone. Can we use this setup for professional work, yeah i think so but i feel its easier with a controller.

    Here is the thing. I fully understand why DJI is adding the motion controller. Because it can be a great gift for someone who is starting or have interest on FPV drone and it will be way easier to control the drone with the motion controller. But this is also a great drone for people who has experience or people who actually want the full potencial of the FPV drone. So, for those people is necessary to buy the tradicional controller. Which you could if you want. Although, there is a big BUT. If you want to get this drone just with the tradicional controller you can buy just the drone and the controller separately. But you can´t buy the new goggles 2 separate. If you want the new goggles you must buy the whole pack which sucks. So, as much as I like DJI as a brand. They make great products, THEY ARE MAKING A HUGE MISTAKE. They are forcing you to buy the motion controller if you want the drone with the new goggles 2. If you buy it separately the only option is to buy the goggles V2. Great goggles but much bigger than the new ones.

  • @cbrumley317

    Nope, this was on purpose. They thought people would buy them when they brought it out with the FPV drone. No one wanted it. Now to get a bundle you have to get this motion controller. And pay extra in the future to get the FPV RC, if you don't already have it, to get full manual mode.

    I slightly disagree. I believe that you may have been able to get those shots with the motion controller. I got the Avata on launch date, and from out of the box I was getting some slick shots and maneuvering with the controller. I think that It may take some time and firmware updates as well. For instance, I'm not sure how to do a roll with the motion controller, or reverse (if that's even possible). I also don't think that it will EVER give you as much control as the FPV remote, but it does a pretty good job, and the concept (point and pull) is very intuitive. My $.02

It seems like DJI have a massive amount of motion controllers in stock which they are providing now in the combo's. Not very consumer friendly that we now also have to buy the regular v2 controller which is another 150 euro. Plus 250 euro for the battery kit is almost 2k for the total package. Ludicres.

    I find it funny after this being out for a year, people still don't know how to work it. It even shows you how in a small training session before you actually fly for the 1st time. You don't turn it left or right. You tilt it left, right forward and back to get it to do what you want. tilt left - go left, tilt right - go right and so on. I do find using it, that it seems to take more to when you want to rise and descend with the controller you have to go forward and back much twice as much to get it to do the same action tilting left and right. Pity there isn't an adjustment for that.
    Avata works pretty good with the motion controller, but it is no replacement I can tell for the controller 2. It is however; a lot of fun.

    You can't find the regular controller anywhere and I'm not buying it with this dumb motion control. Ugh. DJI always finds a way to annoy.

    Will be flying FPV for the first time in a few hours. The Avata with Integra goggles, Motion and FPV controller (both 2) will be arriving in a few hours. Have been flying regular drones for a year.

    If your new to this hobby, learn to hover around your rig in front of you, line of sight while in manual/acro mode on a proper rc…you’ll safely learn the controls and sensitivity to control at a hover, then jump in the goggles and enjoy…going forward is easy. Happy flying!

  • @Steveneven92

    But don't you have different flying mode instead of having to use the manual for the controller?

    • @edwurtle
      @edwurtle 2 года назад +1

      Yep. I thought you can fly in normal, sport, and manual mode with regular controller. Video makes it seem that only manual mode is available with the normal controller. Very misleading.

    Still DJI Avata would be the best option for beginners who wants to experience fpv I think! Ready-to-fly with intelligent features and much safer to fly with top-tier camera perfromance as well.

    You don’t have to fly the FPV controller in full manual… so it would have been fine bundling it with the Avata…. Essentially you get half an FPV drone in the bundle, you half to buy the other half when the controllers come back in stock.

      Thanks for sharing this, as I also looked and couldn't find it anywhere... Does DJI even have it listed on their site? To me it looks like it's not even an option to buy it separately, but maybe I just missed it.

      Well I have the controller so you would probably be best just selling me the avata. Haha. I’m in the same boat I have the controller but can’t just buy the avata separately without waiting for god knows how long.

    Bro, the other ~33% of using the motion controller other than being a newbie is for the head tracking - it's like fpvr, to coin a phrase. 👍

    Was thinking about picking up an avata and really wanted to use a normal controller as a first time flyer with FPV. Honestly might start with the motion controller now as that it might take a bit of practice to get the feeling down before uping it to the full controller.

    "Did DJI make a mistake with the Avata FPV Drone?" this is a clickbait title and it's wrong. What your'e doing is luring people interested in AVATA to watch your entire video to be able to get an answer to your title. I wish RUclips could pay atention to these clickbaity titles as it's all over the these days. Matti, please don't do that again.

    • @JohnnyCodes

      I saw that title and knew instantly he was going to be talking about the controller. Its only clickbait if the video doesn't deliver or have anything to do with the title/thumbnail but since this is a topic people are actually debating id say its a valid title

    Matti, ***Big issue*** the motion controller may not charge with the battery pack per the manual, LIKE MINE. The only workaround, you’ll need to find an old Apple charging block (the small one) and a USB-A to USB-C cable only to charge it. Nothing else will work, trust me I know. This is a known issue. I spent hours trying to get mine to charge and almost sent it back per the warranty.
    Please let people know this. Thank you Sir!

    I really like the look of this. I've had a mini 2 for a while but never flown a FPV drone and I really like footage from FPV too.
    I feel a bit torn because the motion controller would probably make this s perfect stepping stone into flying FPV for someone like me but then I also feel it's not truly FPV and having to buy an additional controller if/once (I probably would) I want to take that step up seems a bit steep. I think maybe they could consider an offer to Avata owners a set period after purchase/registration to buy the other controller at a reasonable discounted price. That would be a nice touch. Otherwise just make it an option in the first place so we can take our chances 😂

    • @x1c3x
      @x1c3x Год назад

      If I'm not mistaken, you can use the Mini2's controller, no?

    • @davidmaskew
      @davidmaskew Год назад

      @@x1c3x I'm not sure. I know on for the FPV controller you need to do a mod to the throttle stick so it sits a zero (fully down) by default otherwise I think you would be sat at 50% throttle when you release the stick.
