Agree on the bummed about the controller. My friend just lent me his FPV Controller to practice until mine comes in next month. I literally tossed my motion controller in the closet and it’ll probably stay there forever hahahaha
My Avata explorer combo, 3 extra batteries, hard shell case just came in 10 minutes ago. I’ve been watching zillions of videos on FPV, and yours here has motivated me to buy the remote controller for super manual flight. I also will obtain liftoff and practice as you did. This video has got me more excited to go into manual without the motion controller more than any others! Thanks for the push I needed!
Bro great video as always, i am doing the same hours and hours in the simulator with the Avata i feel inspired to be a good FPV pilot. Best regards drom Mexico.
Did you pick up the whole Avata bundle or did you just order the fpv controller? Im considering just buying the fpv controller now, practicing on the simulator then ordering the Avata later.
Hello Mate cool video and I am on the same situation as you were. Can you please answer my question…How did you ended up having liftoff or any other Sim. from windows/ Microsoft installed in your Mackbook pro!?? I have only training DJI simulator, but I would love to download that Sim to my mackbook pro, so I could try a better and different simulators thanks.
Learning and getting entertained at the same time! Thank you for sharing your experience. Thrilled for my own DJI Avata maiden flight! Let’s do this!!!
That was awesome. I started trying to learn on a BetaFPV Cetus Pro and wasn't really a fan. Plus, the goggles stopped working. I need to do some simulator training, and I want to get back to learning.
As someone that has been flying and building FPV drones for bit now I liked the avata for what it is, a cinewhoop. The range and reliability was always good from DJI. Unfortunately I can’t say the same about the first version the FPV drone with the bad camera built in. Pete yes the new avata definitely is better build but still not fully user replaceable, it doesn’t Matt how hard or build or your drone FPV always comes with crashes and we should be able to repair or replace the parts by ourselves and that’s not quite possible being this my negative point about the avata
I got the Avata and did some test flying in the city (not open space), flying it in tight places and I have to say the DJI Avata was unable to stand wind conditions from 10-15mph to make it through spaces where I needed it. However, it was great to fly it indoors. DJI FPV is still my go to drone to fly it in the city!
I'm so proud of you! Welcome to the FPV family, Peter! 35 hours in simulator is the minimum before real manual flight. Wanna try with real drone now? :) I mean not DJI, but real FPV drone like Cinelog25/35 or Nazgul Evoque or Diatone Roma F5 v2 or smth like that.
@@PeterLindgren1 its too late you've already had a taste, the addiction just hasn't kicked in yet. With a larger controller and at least one of the two Cinelogs25/35 as was mention I feel almost certain you'd fly them better than even the Avata. I do love my Avata for what it is though.
Been obsessed with fpv for years but the avata is my first step into the space. Been in the simulator for a couple days now and it’s so encouraging to see I’m not the only one going “woahhhh woap yep other way…” 🤣🤣🤣
After completing every course in liftoff on the hardest setting I then went on to real drones. A great way to learn. Wish I’d had the avata 2 years ago
WOOW Man - that was really good to watch!!! :) Love how you show us your progress and really looking forward to see the continuing. I have 55 hours in the simulator, and today - half an hour ago I had the chance to try FPV for the first time - it really was almost the same - just much most scary since it was for real and a friends drone :) But I loved it!!!! Thanks for the inspiration - as always!!
@@PeterLindgren1 sweet! I’m only half way through the video. Keep at it! The best advice I got was when flying through gates don’t look at them, look at the path and the next gate, like a slalom skier! You got this.
Looks pretty good. The Avata is a little loose feeling to me and I fly FPV allot, so you're doing well. I wish you could add a little more tension to the flight sticks (throttle side), but we got what we have. I think you will be even more pleased with your video if you use Gyroflow and some lens filters. Gyroflow is a free download, you will have to change a couple of setting in the goggles (not hard) the app will let you know which ones. It works really fast. It will smooth out your footage for a more cinematic feel. Look forward to seeing your progression.
@@elvismaldonado2631 maybe it’s a matter of preference but I personally prefer Gyroflow over RockSteady. I think Gyroflow for more cinematic feel and maybe Rocksteady for more of a stabilized freestyle feel.
I don't know about flying manual. I got my Avata a couple of months ago and have been using the motion controller. First time flying I was flying around and through trees and obstacles. I really like it and the video is next to none. I just ordered two more batteries so I can fly longer. All my other drones are up for sale.
It's a difference of framerates between the camera and the timeline. Timeline is set to 25fps yet the camera is recorded at 60 fps. Playing back a 60fps clip on a 25fps timeline means that you have to skip x amount of frames in order to get it to play in real time. Slowing it down to half (30fps) means that it skips 5fps each second, hence the "Jumping" in the footage.
the Avata is definitly not a bad drone, DJI knows how to do this thing.... Thanks for being honest about the time you invested, that you had to take it seriously and everything. Lots of influencers like you just skip this part and make people believe they'll fly great with no effort. That last flight was nice... You can do some good basic proximity flying now, but at that speed, one crash and your shiny Avata is going back to "who knows where" to get "fixed" . That kind of flight with a 5 inch freestyle fpv drone : you can crash all day at that speed. And that's where the progression curve starts to change : DJI RTF pilots will reach the plateau where everytime they want to push, they'll break, while "hobby fpv" pilots will be able to push every time they go fly for fun.
Just starting this video. As an FPV enthusiast, can't wait to see how this goes. I can tell you I'm bummed it doesn't come with a regular controller.
Agree on the bummed about the controller. My friend just lent me his FPV Controller to practice until mine comes in next month. I literally tossed my motion controller in the closet and it’ll probably stay there forever hahahaha
Still waiting the controller is in Germany available again. The motion controller sucks after a few time.
@@anthonyarango8838 Agreed. I cant figure out how to launch it with the FPV Controller. Whats the take off procedure?
Good job Peter!!!! Looking smooth as butter

I been waiting for this video since the release of Avata. I can’t wait to hear your personal opinion about the product.
How did you manage to connect your dji fpv controller to your mac for liftoff? I can't get it recognise the controller?
Use a dongle!

9:13 the shot slows down and moves frame by frame, why so? lack of optical flow or something else?
It's a difference of framerates between the camera and the timeline.

Playing back a 60fps clip on a 25fps timeline means that you have to skip x amount of frames in order to get it to play in real time. Slowing it down to half (30fps) means that it skips 5fps each second, hence the "Jumping" in the footage.
