This is the most authentic experience I’ve seen so far, haha! Excellent job, and thank you for sharing it. It’s truly inspiring and makes me want to dive into this world.
Never give up! I started FPV on the Avata 1 and after countless hours on the sim and in the air I got to the point where I could speed over the ground at only 2-3 feet even with tight turns. Now I build my own drones. That is the best because you can build drones for specific uses. FPV is awesome!
How long does the built drones battery last? I want to get the Avata 2 (not the self-built drones) and start doing FPV just because i heard that you can't fly for longer than like 6-7mins before having to replace the battery, which is a big downside i guess...
As someone who's been piloting helicopters, then drones when they came out. I have a lot of experience. There are different classes of drones. Some can fly 20 minutes from a similar capacity battery and some can fly 3. Just depends on if you want power or Cinema. Different drones for different uses
phenomenal video! I enjoyed seeing your maiden flight and you've made incredible progress since then! Love your use of b-roll and example shots to flesh this out. You definitely have a film makers mind and it will take you far into the craft.
Ah, good question, I should have mentioned that. Attitude limit just limits how far you can tilt the drone forward/to the side/ etc so you can't flip it upside down. But it also limits moves like diving etc. So if you want to learn manual mode, definitely turn that off.
@@flyingfilmmaker ah oke that's what I thought. I'm currently flying sport mode but wanna try manual. I'm a little bit scared for manual, I'll drill the drone to the ground when i put it off haha. Is it an advise to leave it on so i get the feeling better?
@@dylansmeets5379 I was super nervous to switch to manual too. But after some sim practice it's really not as hard as I thought it would be so I think you'll he fine. Can't hurt to start with attitude limit on and get a bit of a feel, I did a short circle or two with it before going full manual.
One more comment, you said you liked the view of the FPV super wide camera, it’s my understanding that the FOV does not change in the goggles view, only on playback from the main camera.. Please advise…..
Dude!!! Great job with the video! I love your timing, delivery, humbleness and your overall personality. I’ve been a 107 pilot for a long time and have flown since all the way back to the Phantom 2. I also wanted to get into flying fpv. I’m getting ready to buy the A2, but have been hesitant. Your video was extremely informative and gave me the confidence to go ahead and pull the trigger. It looks like I’ll be buying it tonight. Liked and sub’d. Best of luck!
Flown mine four days in a row, and have had a blast! Today wasn’t as much because of the 10-15 mph winds on the hill where I fly a lot. Discovered more of how tough a time it can have in unstable winds. I’ve watch a ton of wild FPV flying with the Avata 2 and others, but am finding the occasionally speedy acrobatic twists/turns is nice, but am shaping more into a close proximity in-house maneuvers are more what I’m into. Love too not having to have direct sight flying, like even from a closet or room and just flying the camera! Thanks for all you do!
Don’t. 😂 More seriously I’d keep it in normal or sport mode inside. Manual is a bit too hard to control in a confined space. But it does really well for fly thoughs in GPS modes
Haha for sure. Practice is the key. And I've gotten a lot better since the two week mark too, so you've just got to keep on practicing. I'm sure you'll enjoy it if you get one!
I'm very confused on how you configured your remote on curry kitten because there's no way to control the going up and down with the left joystick on the manual, remote and having the throttle on the right simultaneously I know there's a setting 12 and three but that's still doesn't help configure the right DJI avatar 2 settings
Nice video thank you! If you don’t disable M Mode attitude limit, will this stop it from flipping please? I don’t need to do flips etc but would like the speed of manual mode, so would that be best for me please? I don’t want to do freestyle or race drones but might need that extra speed manual brings for when I am filming cars/bikes etc
Hey awesome video! I have my Avata 2 showing up tomorrow, and I’m wondering if you’ve seen a way to use the goggles 3 in the PC sim? I haven’t figured it out yet but was gonna try once they came in this week.
After switching EIS off and setting FOV to Wide... also, also, also... don't forget to press record again... been there done that before 😆 And I think it took me 4hr in the SIM just to stop instantly crashing with throttle control.
My timeline matches yours very closely. I grabbed Avata 2, appreciating the multiple sets of training wheels they provide from pathetic Beginner speed mode to almost full manual but with excessive angle inhibited. I am a few weeks in, about to spend time with Liftoff, and ordered a Neo to do my first Manual Flights with. It has so little mass, it should hold up to most crashes within reason. If not, Care Refresh is only $22 a year on the little guy, It's less intimidating if you are not worried about crashing a $1500 investment, but have all the gear to fly a $200 little guy.
great video thank you! Yeah the liftoff and uncrashed sims were awesome for me and also using the 'pinch' technique on the controller. I was amazed how micro movements can affect the flight A LOT!! Tiny movements go a long way...
I downloaded the sim and flew for a few minutes in manual tonight without a crash....I literally struggle to just get it to move forward or backward....
Great video! I learned flying acro the hard way too (e.g., crashing), however it was with FPV drones other than DJI. I found flying high to practice preferable to simulators, because I would get a little motion sickness from the simulators, but not when flying realtime. What is your take on 16:9 vs 4:3 with regard to videos that will be uploaded to RUclips, as well as how they compare when actually flying? Some people prefer 4:3 over 16:9 for flying. I’m not sure yet.
Thanks! Interesting! Were you practicing with the sim on a screen in the goggles? My take on 4:3 vs 16:9 is that both work great fine for flying, but I always shoot 4:3 so I can crop 16:9 for YT videos and 9:16 vertical for IG etc.
You're doing better and better on the quality info in your videos. I feel your pain for loosing your "shots". Keep up the great work, you are certainly putting in the effort! Great video!!!Thank you and blessings!!!

Hey man, new to FPV and have the Avata 2 also...watched your other videos and you do great work and are easy to understand....I understand camera gear extensively as I have been doing photography for years...video is a bit of learning curve but I am catching on quickly....I also crashed numerous times in manual and was getting great footage from the normal and sport modes and I was also flying some extremely tight spaces....this video has inspired me to get back into manual as I also love the different fpv perspective....I will try a simulator and in the video I seen you were able to use your DJI controller? Again great video and keep up the awesome work!
OK, kinda answered my own question lol! took the plunge and tried Man mode! Dude my heart was pounding lol but I've done a few hours in the sim and that def paid off. I tried sport first and getting to that brake button quick just in case then went man without disabling the M attitude and felt ok, then disabled that and tried a few flips etc. I didn't crash so that was good lol and the sim 100% helped a LOT. I actually love the stiffer throttle in normal and sport mode, and the speed I get in man will help in certain projects but for most of my shots I can get with normal and sport mode! I will still practise in manual though but dont really need to do flips etc but its cool as flying in man mode actually seemed to improve me in normal and sport modes! Thanks again!!
Subscribed ! Great video, awesome quality, greats tips plus free pdf ! Thanks. I got my avata 2 a week ago and i'm still only on the simulator ( Liftoff ) and like you said managing the throttle seems to be the key here ... can't wait to try it outside.
This is my video search parameter: DJI, Avata 2, First Manual Flight, Fly manual, How to fly manual, and similar terms. That transition is the difference between crawling and walk/jog/running. I have NO IDEA what that admittedly major step will entail, but I complicate it further with an aversion to the simulator. Yes, I understand the immense value of gaining muscle memory and learning to react to specific physics affecting the aircraft. I just don't particularly like simulators. At all. The more exposure to them, the stronger my aversion. I further understand that doing everything in the real world vs. simulator means a lot of care refresh shipments, or a stack of functional aircraft in stock to keep me flying. If anyone has practical advice, I am as receptive and humble as one can be.
I put in 100 hours in the sim before trying manual. You’re another who does so much better than I do with exponentially less hours! * kids these days 😂
Haha it might have something to do with probably hundreds of hours flying regular drones, so I already was pretty dialed on the basic stick controller and just had to translate to what they do in manual mode. 😅

If your goal is manual mode, you really want to jump into it as soon as safely possible. Or jump into the sim to get to that point. Don't rip around in sport mode all the time with a loose left stick, building false confidence. Many people broke their Avata 2's the first week doing this. Easy fix, Don't use dual stick controller. This ain't Xbox. Use the single hand controller that came with the Avata 2 and fly it like a plane. You'll have better control over pitch, roll including speed control
@@flyingfilmmaker You obviously know nothing about fligth sims then. But if you say so slick. Go play DCS / Star Citizen in 0g with 6DOF motion, then come and talk to me.
@@Fluke2SS Dude, this has nothing to do with flight sims. This is a quadcopter, not an airplane in a sim. You can make quads move in ways that airplanes can't. And DJI's single stick controller implementation doesn't let you take full advantage of that. I think you could get more control out of a single sticks, but the way it's set up for the Avata 2, you can't. I'm assuming you've never flown and FPV drone before either in manual mode or with the Motion Controller 2?

Your internet couldn't download a 14GB game? What year are you uploading this video from?
2024 in the middle of nowhere in WV.😂
Easy fix, Don't use dual stick controller. This ain't Xbox. Use the single hand controller that came with the Avata 2 and fly it like a plane. You'll have better control over pitch, roll including speed control
Nope, you don’t have a fraction of the control with the single stick controller. This is harder, but once you master it, oh-so-much more capable.
@@flyingfilmmaker You are an idiot. The principles of flying one is the same as an air plane, and the farthest thing from a helicopter moron.
20 hrs of simulators at least
Haha that might be ideal but I didn't want to spend that much time. 😅
@@flyingfilmmaker hehehe
20GB too much? What internet connection are you on? Its 2024!
You don't even want to know haha. I live way out in the middle of nowhere so it's not great, but we're supposed to get gigabit fiber this year.
@@flyingfilmmaker Will make your life easier when you have fast(er) internet! Great content btw! ✌🏽

Get a cheaper drone to practice with.
You are new you are going to crash. Everyone does. Start cheaper.
Sims aren’t real life. Real life is more fun.
