  • After recovering from my injury and seemingly being at my peak right now, I wanted to look back at how it all started and the main thing that helped me stay consistent for years.

When i was first starting sophomore year, my friend just had hit his first 10 foot dunk, he was 5'9 at the time and I was 5'10. Instantly, I went home and tried to do it, and found your channel first. Not even kidding ive seen every single one of your videos and fast foward to now, im a junior, ive gotten my vert up to 34 and am starting to get consistent off the dribble. still on the journey but also starting to enjoy the goal! thanks riq!

Bro, we share the same journey, I even started this when I was way younger, 10 years ago. But back then, I was just a kid, I didn't know anything, Air Alert was like a miracle to me, until I found out that it was not and my goal of dunking seemed out of reach so I got demotivated, wasted a few years by getting fat, eating without restrictions and ended up tearing my ACL trying to jump high while being fat. As I missed the feeling of jumping high, I decided on the greatest form of self-love: I saved it instead of listening to my desire and let myself go, munching every food in sight. That was when I started going from 24 inches vert for almost 10 years, but increased to 34 inches recently. Got down to 74kg from 87kg, 14% bfp from 25%. What changed the most was probably the speed that I could use in my approach, for the same jump technique, being lighter helped me jump faster, resulted jumping higher. But that's not all, finding my passion for jumping again was something I thought I could not have.
But the journey wasn't just for myself, where I grew up, there were a lot of people around my height who could grab the rim but none of them even bothered to train to dunk, they got stuck in the mindset that Asians weren't meant for dunking, they said that we were limited by genetics but it was like spreading salt to a wound, how could they say that while being so close to dunking. That's why I set out on this journey to prove them wrong, to let them know how they wasted their potential by not starting at all even though were 5 times closer to dunking than me. Even with a 34 inches vert, the me right now can only touch the rim, starting from even below where those people started, I will keep going on this journey until I can dunk!🔥

So many people don't get the obsession with dunking. They tell me stuff like I haven't dunked yet so I'm probably never going to, or that it's a pointless goal because dunking isn't even useful in game. Dunking for me is about a lot more than just being able to dunk. It's a lofty goal that I never imagined I could ever achieve, and now it's like the pinnacle achievement summing up hundreds of hours of work and years of my life. Nobody I know understands it or feels the way I do, but that's why I'm always on youtube watching content like this. Seeing other people that feel the same way I do reassures me and inspires me to keep pushing.
Thanks for the inspiring content, I'll be following your journey the whole way

You’ll easily dunk man.. I just got back into it, used to be able the grab rim at 5’8 and had a dunk but didn’t slam it, half counts. All the negative people don’t know what hard work means.
I am 92kgs but too much bulky, gonna cut to 83kgs, but am very close to touching rim again probs 27-29inch now.. I just got back from a 6 week holiday but gonna grind!! Started in November hard and went from 100kgs to 89kgs but then had holiday to get married.
