- After recovering from my injury and seemingly being at my peak right now, I wanted to look back at how it all started and the main thing that helped me stay consistent for years.

When i was first starting sophomore year, my friend just had hit his first 10 foot dunk, he was 5'9 at the time and I was 5'10. Instantly, I went home and tried to do it, and found your channel first. Not even kidding ive seen every single one of your videos and fast foward to now, im a junior, ive gotten my vert up to 34 and am starting to get consistent off the dribble. still on the journey but also starting to enjoy the goal! thanks riq!
Thta means a lot to me David. These types of comments are what i love to see! Aim for that 40!
Haters gonna hate, but fortunately you weren't fazed and ended up dunking 👍
It happens but you can't let it phase you
Thanks bro needed to hear that. Dealing with some nagging injuries that won't seem to go away. But I'll gotta push through until I finally achieve my goals. Thanks again
Bro, we share the same journey, I even started this when I was way younger, 10 years ago. But back then, I was just a kid, I didn't know anything, Air Alert was like a miracle to me, until I found out that it was not and my goal of dunking seemed out of reach so I got demotivated, wasted a few years by getting fat, eating without restrictions and ended up tearing my ACL trying to jump high while being fat. As I missed the feeling of jumping high, I decided on the greatest form of self-love: I saved it instead of listening to my desire and let myself go, munching every food in sight. That was when I started going from 24 inches vert for almost 10 years, but increased to 34 inches recently. Got down to 74kg from 87kg, 14% bfp from 25%. What changed the most was probably the speed that I could use in my approach, for the same jump technique, being lighter helped me jump faster, resulted jumping higher. But that's not all, finding my passion for jumping again was something I thought I could not have.
But the journey wasn't just for myself, where I grew up, there were a lot of people around my height who could grab the rim but none of them even bothered to train to dunk, they got stuck in the mindset that Asians weren't meant for dunking, they said that we were limited by genetics but it was like spreading salt to a wound, how could they say that while being so close to dunking. That's why I set out on this journey to prove them wrong, to let them know how they wasted their potential by not starting at all even though were 5 times closer to dunking than me. Even with a 34 inches vert, the me right now can only touch the rim, starting from even below where those people started, I will keep going on this journey until I can dunk!🔥
I’ve been on my own vertical journey and I’d just like to say that you’re the biggest inspiration. I appreciate all the videos you post full of useful information towards my own progression.
That means a lot to me genuinely thank you
Love the vid not only is it really funny. But it is great information I need to one day dunk. People like you are the ones that build great athletes. Love it this really inspired me to train to get my goal of dunking after many failed attempts. Thank You:)
great video. very motivational bro. love it💪
i rlly see consistent dunks happening soon dude. You easily got the height its just abt the ability to palm ball/technical things like angle so u dont backrim.
Cinematography went crazy on this one, Riq B classic
I appreciate that tommy. I've been working on it! haha
love your videos man
Honestly needed to watch this after being demotivated from injuries and fatigue, thank you
I appreciate you bro! trying my best to motivate everyone
Video and editing skill on point ngl
I'm always ready to close my eyes on the ankle sprain part 😢 just can't watch it man... That really hurts ! I've sprained my ankle recently and ended up with a ligament tear. I want to start my own vertical jump journey. Thanks to u I've got all the inspiration I need ❤
So many people don't get the obsession with dunking. They tell me stuff like I haven't dunked yet so I'm probably never going to, or that it's a pointless goal because dunking isn't even useful in game. Dunking for me is about a lot more than just being able to dunk. It's a lofty goal that I never imagined I could ever achieve, and now it's like the pinnacle achievement summing up hundreds of hours of work and years of my life. Nobody I know understands it or feels the way I do, but that's why I'm always on youtube watching content like this. Seeing other people that feel the same way I do reassures me and inspires me to keep pushing.
Thanks for the inspiring content, I'll be following your journey the whole way
Keep grinding!! Forget the hater. I’m on the same journey I haven’t dunked since high school. And tore my achilles in 2016
Great content bro for real!
That was inspiring bro, I wanna try and grab the rim this year! I'm just over 5'7 too. I'll be back to pick up some tips and get motivated for sho!
Lets get it!
HE FINALLY DID ITT 🔥🔥
I love it man keep it up🔥
My guy! appreciate the support bro
Good job rigby

Very powerful video bro
🙏🏼
Can't imagine how happy I would be to be pain free again.
Literally the best feeling. Focus on rehab
@@RiqB thanks bro
@@RiqB how should I know when to rest and when to rehab.
The quality of the videos got really amazinggg
Trying to up the quality from now on!
Forsure,keep up the amazing work!🫶
How can I ease into dunk training being that I have a history with knee problems? What do you do for injury prevention
No motivation like haters and doubters!
Your videos are my motivations to dunk at 5'10
Keep it up 🔥🔥
You’ll easily dunk man.. I just got back into it, used to be able the grab rim at 5’8 and had a dunk but didn’t slam it, half counts. All the negative people don’t know what hard work means.
I am 92kgs but too much bulky, gonna cut to 83kgs, but am very close to touching rim again probs 27-29inch now.. I just got back from a 6 week holiday but gonna grind!! Started in November hard and went from 100kgs to 89kgs but then had holiday to get married.
i can only go Gym 3 days a week (on the 3 already marked days) and im training for verticle jump and upper body aesthetics
MON: gym Full body
TUE: Rest
WED: gym Upper body
THI: Plyos
FRI: Rest
SAT: gym Upper body
SUN: Plyos
Can i tweak this so its more optimal for vert progress and aesthetics..?
Riq riq riq riq
Missed a long Riq B video...
😁
nice video man,
also what are the shoes at 3:59
pg 4 gatorade
Huge correlation with the amount of hair and the vertical.
😂😂😂
what is your next goal? Windmill dunk?
I'm like 5'4 and 8th grade, do you think I can touch rim in 1 year? I have around a 20 inch vert rn without weight training, just jumping around the house and stuff.
There's a lot of factors that come into play so I can't guarantee it. But it's possible
@@RiqB you are the single biggest contributor to my motivation to jump higher, my genetics aren't in my favour and you are helping me defy the odds
High quality vid all around
Appreciate that man!
@@RiqB can we get a dunk session vid soon?
@@christianb164 I'd love to! Working on it
@@RiqB bet, keep at it bro! I think your very close to a huge breakthrough that will result in consistent dunking!
How old are u bro, are u a filipino
bros be careful jumping off one foot
You think there's an age limit on dunking? I'm 30 n been a athlete my whole life but def can't dunk
Now I know why you wouldnt do One Leg Vertical jumps. You injured your ankle doing that.
That and i completely suck at it
Maybe that’s my problem, I don’t have enough haters man. People at my gym and in my life are too nice man, I need an anime rival to tell me I’m trash.😂
You'll never make it bro Just give up (motivation you got this)
Ngl i thought you were mexican
I get that a lot😂
I knew he was Filipino. Lmao
