A good list, with points that I mostly agree with.
It was weird how the Doctor started smooching people randomly like Bugs Bunny or one of the Animaniacs in Series 7. I still love Matt Smith's Doctor, and I get that they were probably trying to make him seem more alien by not understanding the societal norms of human beings, but that approach to it just feels... weird and out of character for the Eleventh Doctor.

Great list man. Though I can't say for sure how I'd rank them without a re-watch, I wouldn't put Series 8 as rock bottom. My interest was waning after Matt's departure but Capaldi's first batch of episodes really worked for me, Deep Breath and Listen especially.

"Strong episodes in the mix like Dinosaurs on a spaceship and the power of three" - excuse me, what? Out of the 10 worst episodes (specials included), of the first 8 seasons, those two would both be on the last. They were thematically garbage, had no tension whatsoever, no character development despite great opportunities for it and also made simply no sense if you think about them for more than two seconds.
I specifically said first 8 seasons though, because while parts of the later seasons were good, if we go by the worst episodes on their own out of all seasons, you kinda have to make your worst 25 almost entirely of season 9-12 (with some very well known exceptions of course)

I do think series 8-9 are worse than 11, mostly because 11 had better on average episodes, series 8 didn't have a truly great episode while series 9 only had one ("Heaven Sent"), series 11 had three ("Rosa", "Demons of the Punjab" and "It Takes you Away" I actually thought series 10 was better than 11 overall, series 11 on average was slightly worse than series 10.

Series 10 aside, the Twelfth Doctor era was the culmination of all the bad qualities of Steven Moffat's (in my opinion) increasingly declining writing reaching its lowest point. After Series 8, I thought the Doctor had become an asshole, and after Series 9, I actually felt like the show had gone completely off the rails. Series 10 was by no means perfect, but it did feel like Steven Moffat has screwed his head back on correctly.
Series 11 was a breath of fresh air to me. The new approach, new Doctor, new showrunner, and the decision to soft-reboot the series and gradually reintroduce older elements as if we were seeing them from the fam's perspective. Like Mr TARDIS, I do agree that Series 11 is objectively better, but Series 12 and the retcons made to the Doctor's past actually feel like a bold and exciting change that could make for some interesting and compelling stories if they really explore it.

Series 8 and 9 were depressingly, soul-crushingly mean-spirited and contained more stupid and embarrassing moments on their own than the rest of the show before or since. Series 10 was a slight return to form with better companions, but Series 11 and 12 were the breath of fresh air that the show needed after the worst of Steven Moffat's scripts.

I know for me - to be blunt, the 13th doctor killed any interest i had left in the series, and even when i do tend to go back and re-watch even the ones that was a struggle for me ( Capaldi - and it's not even his fault, I can't even with Clara and River, after having to deal with 11-Amy-River), everything that i loved through series 1 through 6, relatively enjoyed through 7-8, got through 9-10, was simply gone by 11, and simply destroyed in series 12 especially with that episode the Timeless Children.

Best to worst (in my opinion):
1: Series 4. Near perfection. The Doctor and Donna are just the best, the episode quality is incredible, the music classic Gold, the story arc immersive, Series 4 is New Who at its best. Favourites include Partners in Crime (funniest ep ever), The Fires Of Pompeii (Harrowing as hell), Planet Of The Ood and The Unicorn And The Wasp (both among Who's most underrated), Silence In The Library (dark, atmospheric, one of Moffat's best), Turn Left/The Stolen Earth and Journey's End (absolute chills throughout all three, especially Turn Left, probably DW's darkest story) and of course, Midnight. Midnight is just... Wow. So yeah, Pinnacle Who.
2: Series 1. Yep, don't skip Nine. Nine is a hell of a Doctor, all of his stories are brilliant on some level, and the Immortal Trio of Dalek, The Empty Child and Bad Wolf mark his era as one of Doctor Who's best. Don't forget the underrated Father's Day or the gloriously terrifying Unquiet Dead. Seriously, this is such a strong start to the Revival and the only season strong enough to vy for first place, aside from above.
3: Series 3. Hard one to judge. It has its ups and downs, downs being Daleks in New York, CGI Lazarus monstrosities and Sun-possessed, but even those weaker eps have plenty of merits in their own right. High points are next level though, the magnificent Master reveal, the entirety of Blink, Human Nature/The Family Of Blood, forever my favourite piece of New Who. This season might be imperfect but it's a winner.
4: Series 5. Easily Moffat's best season. Over half the season is fantastic, a new Doctor and era, everything feels fresh, inventive, brimming with creativity. While it's not perfect, I genuinely don't think there's any stories here I dislike. Strong on nostalgia points as well.
5: Series 2. Not amazingly consistent, but for every clunker, there's two solid eps here. Not a fervent Ten/Rose shipper myself, but it's not as prominent as a lot of people make it out to be. Honestly, this season's merits boil down to its Sycorax starters, tragic Girl In The Fireplace, the overwhelming finale, and my two faves: School Reunion and the devilishly excellent Impossible Planet/Satan Pit. RTD is still my favourite New Who showrunner.
6: Series 10. Moffat did good on his last season. While there's less stand-outs, the consistency of the season is astonishing and seeing Bill develop with 12 is a delight. Nardole and Missy are brill too, and World Enough And Time is a strong candidate for my favourite Capaldi story.
7: Series 6. Interesting premise to frame a season over, even if the first half is a lot stronger than the second. The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon, The Doctor's Wife and the hellishly underrated God Complex are all worthy Who.
8: Series 7. A toss-up of quality in general, but a solid variety of stories, one of the few benefits of constantly using one-part structure. The Angels Take Manhattan, The Crimson Horror and The Name of the Doctor are a few gems.
9: Series 9. Apart from the Ashildr two-parter and Sleep No More, fairly enjoyable on the whole. Just a shame that the majesty of Heaven Sent was crushed by the following finale.
10: Series 8. A bit dry, but Flatline and Mummy On The Orient Express are two of my favourite Capaldis.
    11/12: Series 11 & 12. They're both just abysmal.

@@DalekTheSupreme I have to say, i haven't watched more than like 3 episodes of Jodie, but what I noticed was the older series like the 10th Dr seasons and 9th, they had agendas that they added in the story, they showed rather than told, and it didn't feel so forced or preachy even if there was a bit of it. The stories were told really well and the characters really shined and grew, you connected with them. In the few episodes I saw of Jodie, it was all talk, all preach not as much growth or development, i couldn't care for the characters in those few episodes as I did for rose Martha Donna any and Rory 9, 10 and 11 within the first 15mins of seeing them. I may not have given enough of a chance for them, and any good episode I hear about in jodies I'm willing to see, but I'm not watching every episode of hers esspecially with the timeless children and that orphan episode, if I remember correctly. I want to support the good writing.
Also I did like Bill, my only issue with her was having her remind us she was gay every 10 mins (exaggeration I know) but after the 5th time it was like so what? I get it, my opinion of you hasn't changed, but if you keep repeating yourself, it might, it would have been more entertaining if she pretended to ignore men flirting at her, dismiss it or flat out not even notice it. Like a guy flirts, she thinks he's just a friend, because if you're not attracted to someone who is attracted to you, you're less likely to notice the signs, vice versa you tend to think a simple hi means love. So you could also add her flirting to a girl the girl is friendly back and she overthinks. Other than that she was fun, and her last episodes really were emotional

    3. Series 5 (began at a turbulent period, criticism completely silenced halfway through)
    4. Series 3 (martha ftw)
    5. Series 10 (i needed to love this show again after so many missteps, moffat had the last laugh)
    6. Series 2 (strong start, 10 and Rose and the era's low points drag it down)
    7. Series 9 (no middle ground, everything masterful or total shit)
    8. Series 8 (spends a brand-new doctor becoming 'the clara show', this would've worked as his second series)
    9. Series 12 (sure, better than 11 but that's easy to accomplish)
    10. Series 6 (strong start, but resolution made it ultimately empty)
    11. Series 11 (the first female doctor deserved *SO* much more than this)
    12. Series 7 (i feel like we all gave this a pass because it was the 50th anniversary year)

Used to be my least favourite for a while, before series 10 and the rest came. After rewatching it, I do like it more, but I felt like Clara was just there for too long. I never liked her character and her attitude, which reminded me of Rose without the romantic part. Series 9 had good stories, and Heaven Sent which is ofc one of the best episodes ever. But generally I didn't like the overall mood, complex and dramatic atmosphere. Twelve had enourmous improvement but the sonic sunglasses and guitar things were a bit over the top. But compared to how the show is now, series 9 is actually quite good lmao

So much of how someone ranks these series is dependent on what one considers important. For example, for me Capaldi's acting puts his worst series ahead of either of Whittaker's series with it's failings in writing and congested Tardis.

    1. Series 5: phenomenal start to Moffat's tenure; the best depiction of the Eleventh Doctor, perfect debuts from Smith, Gillan and Darvill, a wonderful fairytale atmosphere, a great story arc, and a strong run of episodes including The Eleventh Hour, Amy's Choice, Vincent and the Doctor, and the epic yet intimate finale
    2. Series 4: David Tennant and Catherine Tate as the best Doctor-companion pairing in the revival, Russell and his team of writers at the peak of their confidence and creativity, a bold and ambitious finale, Murray Gold's best soundtrack for the show, and a fantastic guest cast
    3. Series 1: Christopher Eccleston hits the ground running, and makes the Ninth Doctor feel instantly likeable and compelling. Billie Piper makes a strong debut as Rose, and her relationship with the Doctor feels natural and emotionally justified. Classic episodes like Dalek, Father's Day and The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, and a good establishment of Russell's vision for the show, series 1 was the perfect way to relaunch the show for a new audience
    4. Series 3: this series sees Tennant come into his own as the adventurous and often egotistical Tenth Doctor, paired opposite Martha, easily the most underrated companion. A strong first half builds up to a phenomenal second half, featuring Human Nature/The Family of Blood, Blink, and an epic finale that reintroduces the Master in a fantastic gripping way. The finale does drop the ball somewhat, but we still have a very strong run here
    5. Series 10: Capaldi leaves on a high note here, being paired opposite Bill and Nardole and making up a very strong TARDIS team. There is a big mid-series slump with the Monk trilogy, but the first half features some strong and underrated episodes, and the second half features an interesting character arc for Missy that ultimately leads to a fantastic finale that gives the Cybermen the story they deserved (FINALLY) and sees off Capaldi perfectly (if one ignores Twice Upon a Time)
    6. Series 12: a decent story arc that gives Whittaker the chance to settle into the role of the Doctor, an introduction to the best modern incarnation of the Master, and some really strong episodes, including Fugitive of the Judoon, The Haunting of Villa Diodati and the highly underrated Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror. Unfortunately, the TARDIS team still feels overstuffed, and a few of series 11's problems continue to persist. However, it is a marked improvement on its predecessor
    7. Series 9: bit of a mixed bag. Under the Lake/Before the Flood, Face the Raven and Heaven Sent are strong episodes, bolstered by a pair of great lead performances from Capaldi and Coleman. Unfortunately, we also have a frustratingly messy opener, a missed opportunity in Sleep No More, and the car crash finale of Hell Bent. The series is well-structured and has some really strong elements, but it also suffers from a very weak story arc
    8. Series 8: another real mixed bag of a series. Story quality is generally decent, though there are some big clunkers (Kill the Moon and In the Forest of the Sh*te). Capaldi is excellent, and Clara is given the chance to develop as a character. Unfortunately, the finale is very mediocre, and the Clara/Danny subplot drags down a lot of the series as a whole
    9. Series 2: suffers from fairly similar problems to series 11. A bland and underdeveloped Doctor that wastes the talent of its lead actor, paired with a companion who often comes across as quite insufferable. A generally underwhelming quality of stories, an overly childish tone, and a lack of an interesting story arc. Tennant's debut series does pull ahead of Whittaker's largely thanks to a few standout episodes like School Reunion, The Girl in the Fireplace and The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit
    10. Series 6: a strong first half with an interesting story arc, a great TARDIS team, and strong episodes like The Doctor's Wife and A Good Man Goes to War. Unfortunately, the second half is weaker, as the stories become less interesting (with a few exceptions), River takes up too much focus, and the arc becomes convoluted and builds to a very unsatisfying conclusion
    11. Series 11: just feels really bland and generic. There's not much of a sense of direction for the series, and it lacks its own distinctive feel compared to the previous eras. The main characters feel quite bland, and the quality of stories feels quite weak, though there are a few exceptions (Rosa, Demons of the Punjab, It Takes You Away and Resolution)
    12. Series 7: series 11 was bland and disappointing, but series 7 was so bad it nearly got me to stop watching altogether (thank God for Day of the Doctor). The Rings of Akhaten was pretty good, Amy and Rory's departure had a lot of emotional weight, and there are a few fun episodes, but in general the story quality ranged from mediocre to outright atrocious, Eleven gets flanderized beyond all recognition, and Clara makes a thoroughly unsatisfying debut. The absolute nadir of the revival, and let's hope it stays that way

My top 11 Modern Who seasons are:
    1. Series 9 - I personally found Series 9 to be the best season of Modern Era, and is certainly both Steven Moffat and Peter Capaldi's best season overall. We see both Capaldi and Jenna Coleman at their best with Capaldi finally coming into his own as Twelve and it was this particular season that made him my personal favourite Doctor alongside Tom Baker. Clara was allowed to shine alongside Capaldi to create a perfect Doctor/companion duo, plus her exit in 'Face the Raven' was beautifully handled. This season also had a lot of great stories with plenty of twists and epic moments that stayed with me long after I had watched them with some being my personal favourites of all time like 'The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar', 'Face the Raven' and obviously 'Heaven Sent'. Also, bringing back the two-parter format worked perfectly for, IMO. While I personally found 'Hell Bent' deeply flawed, I didn't think it was the worst episode in Doctor Who history, plus 'Sleep No More' was just passable at best for me.

But I also love how thematically series 6 matches series 5. If series 5 is like a fairytale with the execution of a dream half remembered like you said then series 6 comes off like some delirious childhood bad dream. In a good way. Although for me as a kid these episode gave me nightmares as I don’t think we’ve had this many back to back horror episodes since the Hinchcliffe era. Intentionally or not I found and still find the girl who waited’s sterile and emotionless setting is creepy and unsettling. Maybe it’s just nostalgia but series 6 is still incredibly special to me.

Very very refreshing to see a ranking video like this that isn't just relentless Chibnall bashing.
If I had the time and inclination I'd like to rewatch NuWho from start to finish. Series 1-5 was my childhood and I can remember these stories very well. Series 6 was a gargantuan letdown for me though, with Moffat massively overpromising and underdelivering in terms of marketing. After that I still watched the show but I had fallen out of love with it, making most of series 6-10 a blur for me. Series 11 had a lot of flaws but I liked the change of pace. Probably deserves a rewatch. And series 12 made be a fan again.
On that note Series 12 is probably where I disagree the most, especially Fugitive of the Judoon which I rate as one of the best DW episodes ever. I agree with a lot of the criticisms but for me the highs overshadow the lows. I'd also rate series 6 significantly lower, but perhaps my disappointment at the time is warping my perspective and it deserves another more objective watch. Similarly I'd have series 2 lower. There were great moments but too many duds with Love and Monsters, Fear Her, and The Idiots Lantern, as well as the kinda 'meh' inclusion of the cybermen. In general I'd probably be more generous with the Capaldi era as well. And series 5 is up there with 4 as the best of Doctor Who IMO.

So many people take it really personally when the series are ranked in ways that they don't agree with, but whether or not you like a series, how much you enjoy it and how engaging you find it, is always a subjective viewpoint to at least some extent. It's why some people hate Series 11 and 12, but others (like myself) thought them to be really good. It's why some people loved Rose Tyler, and why some people like myself did not (no discredit to Billie Piper, her performance was great, I just do not like the character). Do I agree entirely with this list? No, I'd probabaly change most of it. But the thing about videos like this is that they are opinions, and they present new ways of looking at series and/or episodes in ways you might not have thought about previously.

The_ALEX_ELLIS_Channel thank you some people need to hear this. There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to opinion

Fantastic video, no pun intended, always come back to this video from time to time. Just one question though, where would you rank the latest series , Flux, in this ranking?

I’m rewatching and have just finished series 4, since I was young David Tennant was always my favourite doctor, as he was the doctor that got me into the show as a kid. Series 4 is the best I have seen so far, 3 was good but I am not a fan of Gridlock or 42, 2 was also good and I actually like new Earth but let down by fear her and love and monsters, series 1 was great but let down by the long game although that did set up the finale. I love all the companions so far but Mickey particularly had great character development and Donna was very entertaining

Series 4 is the best for sure. Also Capaldi deserved so much better.

I can’t be the only person who didn’t really “hate” or “dislike” any seasons? More like specific moments or occasional episodes but not seasons as a whole?

You're not alone. There are series/seasons I rate lower than others, but I don't "hate" any. I certainly don't "hate" entire eras; that would be silly - there's good stuff in all of them.

I pretty much feel the same way. There are some seasons that I just think are ok, not bad, not good. The only exceptions being series 8 and 7, I personally don't like them. But that's just my opinion. Anyways, I respect your opinion of not disliking any seasons :)

I’m giving you a like purely because of your considerate, fair and bold take on Series 11.

Can't say I agree really, Jodie's acting is flat, episodes are boring and Chibs seems to go out of his way to add his political bullshit into it

It's weird, but for whatever reason, from seasons 1-5, 4 is the one I have the least nostalgia for.
It was definitely good, and there's hardly much bad in it,
but it doesn't have quite the same warmth as those others for some reason

Really David Regeneration had the whole of the UK on a chokehold like bro we was hating on Matt smith for a full year before accepting him😂
