Plane: 737 MAX 9

Flight #: 482

On March 1st, 2021 Alaska Airlines began commercial operations for the first time with their brand new 737 MAX 9 aircraft. I was lucky enough to grab a seat on the inaugural flight from Seattle (SEA) to San Diego (SAN). Unlike other US operators of the MAX, Alaska never flew the MAX commercially before it's grounding in 2019. So, this was a special occasion not only for the airline, but for aviation enthusiasts around the country. Join me for this look at Alaska's newest addition in their redesigned Economy Cabin!

That landing was an absolute GREASER
I flew on my first MAX 3 months ago. Beautiful plane--wow, so smooth, powerful, effortless... I loved it.
MAX 9! Nice!!
👍🏻
wow butter!
I flew on a max 9 and it was groundbreaking smooth the turbulence made the plane gently sway instead of bump so calming and upon descent the turbulence rolled off the back and it was a little cutting rumble instead of bumps I don’t know how they did it but what a time to be alive
Alaska Airlines seem like a nice airline to fly with. I certainly would love the try them in the future, especially the “milk run” up to Anchorage! ✈️
Thanks for watching! I hope they operate the MAX on the milk run.
Alaska airlines is the best.
@@nycflyertravel they probably won’t unless they get some max 7s
Awesome video! And your voiceovers are so cool too!
Keep going! 👍🏻✈️
Thanks man!
The Alaska livery just looks perfect on the MAX.
Agreed! Thanks for watching
Also nobody talked about all the successful flights from Southwest that landed and took off successfully before the accident! After everything they went through to install the new and improved MCAS system I appreciate all the hard work they did to get this new successful plane back in service!
i mean, the existence of successful flights does not really make it a safe system. it was far worse than any other modern commercial plane
(i should clarify - i'm fairly confident it'll have an excellent service record from here out. but the original MCAS definitely had serious flaws, and those can't be ignored)
Flying on a Southwest MAX 8 July 13th for work from San Diego to Las Vegas. Short flight, but I am excited to get to experience the MAX 8!
Brilliant trip report! The 737 MAXes look comfortable and modern. I hope to be able to try them in the future. I'm glad to see them back in the sky
Thanks for watching!
I can’t wait to fly on the max.
Alaska is a great airline, I would fly with them any time, anywhere!
Thanks for watching Don!
Me too.
I flew on two of these Alaska MAX9’s a few months back from SEA-DTW, and from ORD-SEA. Similar passenger experience to the 900ER with the sky interior, but I think they’re a slight bit quieter maybe. We flew over a tornado warned storm and hardly felt anything, but that might just be luck, honestly. Though Alaska Airlines lag behind in entertainment, they seem to have a comfortable, modern product. I remember the days when their interior was just like the Southwest interior but with gray seat padding. They’ve totally improved their product since then.
I loveeeee the interior!!
Yeah, it looks great!
I would totally fly on a 737 MAX!
👍🏻
The videos keep getting better and better 🤩

Thanks my friend!
@@nycflyertravel You're Welcome :D
good video. as a an alaska employee. i had to subscribe!
Thank you! I’ve only had great experiences with Alaska ✈️
I can’t wait I’m all in next year 👍🏾👍🏾
Enjoy your flight ✈️
Excellent video
Thank you 🙏
Good old Sea-Tac airport! Aspiring FA and Seattleite here! I'd love to work for Alaska Airlines! 💙💚
That’s great to hear! I really like Alaska Airlines
Scheduled to fly on Max in 10 days. Looking forward to it.
Nice! Enjoy your flight John.
The Max is probably one of these safest planes to fly on at this point. After the original issue the plane went under extensive testing. If I had to guess I don’t think we will see any more issues ever again
Issues with any aircraft are inevitable to come at some point or other. However any major issues are unlikely with max in the future.
Alaska airline was originally based in Anchorage Alaska but then their airport got too small so they switched to Seattle homebase that’s what I have read and research and learned
I'm going to be flying on the exact same registration tomorrow!
Enjoy your flight
Great review! New subscriber here.
Thank you 🙏
Can't wait to fly the MAX....
Hope you get to soon 👍🏻
YOOO This is so cool!! Thanks for making this video!
👍🏻
I flew on the Boeing 737 Max 8 with Southwest Airlines. No was no drama on board the Boeing 737 Max 8.
Auto like for voiceover
Nice as always :) great to see the MAX back to the sky😆
Thanks for watching!
Personally I’m dying to fly on the max! Nice trip report.❤️👍✈️
Thanks Diane! I hope you get to fly on one soon.
Almost 400 people did to. Be careful what you wish for
good job..
Thank you 🙏
congrats on the video - really enjoyed seeing a thorough review of the alaskan 737 max experience. The addition of voice over commentary is a great addition - a departure from the usual subtitles that we see in other videos.
Thanks! It’s difficult doing the voiceover, but I think it’s worth the effort.
Alaska*
I was so close on being on this flight. It was Seattle-LAX originally this same day, but then they switched it to this, so I ended up being on a standard 737-900. I dont know why they changed it. LAX is actually a hub.
Ahh that’s too bad
Hello, I am a new subscriber !! Have you heard that Alaska Airlines is joining oneworld on march 31st?
Thanks for subscribing! Yeah, they were talking about joining the alliance on my flight.
👍🏻👍🏻❤️
Vole en alkasca y tuve una buena ecperiencia
Just recently flew to Sacramento on this plane! Does anyone know which mountains those are at 8:41m
Not a bad landing
Is max 9 safe to fly with?
Nice job!I like your video! I would like to fly 737MAX in the one day~
I had flown Southwest during my spring break, I asked the Capitan:How do you think about 737MAX the problem?
He has so much confidence say to me:The problem is all fix, no worry about that.
I do believe 737MAX become a more secure aircraft than ever.Every one, every factory ,every country make mistake. Definitely we will give their one more chance, but the families of the hapless victims will not give them anymore chance. No matter how can not save the lost lives, I only hope that the tragedy will not repeat, flying more and more safe! 🙏
Thanks for watching Charles! I also flew on South West’s MAX and it was a really nice flight. Everyone that I’ve spoken to also has a lot of confidence in the MAX and I hope there are no more terrible accidents. Safe travels 👍🏻
I would not hesitate to fly the 737 MAX as long as it is flown by a competent pilot. I flew the Sourthwest MAX all the time before the 3rd world pilots crashed!!!
Nice video! The interior looks great!
Thanks 🙏
omg i lost when he said there was a fire in the lavatory of the 75 lol
That flight was definitely an interesting experience 😂
Fantastic video!!!
I don’t look out the window much because I’m afraid to fly. So I would like the Wi-Fi to be working.
Did you say 138 seats in Economy on a 737-9 Max?
Are 737 MAX built at the same plant as all other 737 variants?
Renton, WA baby!
Awesome trip report! Believe me or not that was me right in front of you during boarding
Nice! Hope you enjoyed the flight too
I took the time to check this video right at the plane's door then when to check your video and there you were and some guy in front of you then the kids. 😉👍
awesome I will definitely try Alaskan Airlines on my next trip from Houston to the West Coast
Glad to hear it! Thanks for the comment Eugenio
A fire in the lavatory?? How? What?
Great trip report
Thanks Luis!
what airline was the 757??
Delta. I’ll do a separate video on it soon.
🙂🙂🙂
I took it today....loved it -I didn’t see a foot rest in fc
I'm curious as to what the fuck happened on your flight home. Was it just someone smoking in the lav or something more than that?
Really enjoying your video's btw, the voice over keeps my attention throughout the video rather than just text on the bottom and the ambient sounds/ background music during the video. I made a video on one of the inaugural MAX flights that Air Canada offered since the recertification in Canada. I do the same thing (voice over) to better get my points to the viewer across.
Cheers,
Max
Thanks for watching! On my flight back I was just sitting there and all of a sudden the smoke alarms went off. A guy came out of the bathroom and there was a ton of smoke. He claimed that he wasn’t smoking but the flight attendants didn’t agree and he was arrested once we landed. In his defense it really didn’t smell like cigarettes/vaping odors, it smelled more like burnt rubber.
The plane is brilliant but the scaling down of food and beverage due to health reasons got me thinking, it's a cover up for cost-cutting.
I live sandeigo
I’ve been trying to get on one but parents won’t let me 🙁
Hopefully you can fly on one soon
@@nycflyertravel thanks! My grandparents went on one with southwest recently they said they really liked it!
A few weeks before it joined one world alliance
Sorry if I said I dislike your video, but when the airplane is moving, I just like to hear the airplane noise, I don't mean to hurt your feelings.
I never been on a max I was only on a airbus 219 very small not good seating room.
I feel excited about Alaska Airlines, I was thinking about flying on the 737 MAX for some other time. Also the best airlines I felt the most is Delta Airlines 737 - 900. I been wanted to fly on Delta from Trinidad to Atlanta with some stops at MIA FL, IAH, EWR and JFK on American, United and JetBlue. The airline I traveled from POS Trinidad is UA 737 - 800 from POS to EWR 2018 August. So next time when COVID - 19 is over I'll fly to Seattle, Los Angeles, New York and Atlanta.
I love this video 100% likes.
Thanks Diliano! Delta is a very nice airline too. I’d really like to try Caribbean Airlines once the pandemic is over with. Hopefully you can fly with Alaska soon!
Hey you should come to Trinidad and Tobago for a visit to see me. Also I've been on Caribbean airlines BWIA 1943 to Tobago from Trinidad more than 400 times a year.
Good night man and sleep tight.
@@dilianomartin.293 👍🏻
haha I find it funny that the pilots say it’s a well built plane. They aren’t going to say it’s a unsafe plane to passengers even if they thought so
Heyho, greez from Frankfurt, Germany ... personally, i hate the B737-Max ... but i like your channel and your Flightreports 😅🇩🇪✈✌🏻🤗🤗
Thank you 🙏
Why do you hate it? Nothing wrong with it
It’s annoying when passengers can’t stow their bags correctly on a max airplane 🙄
Alaska Airlines should paint a MAX in a livery with a mask decal on the nose, similar to what Garuda Indonesia and Cargolux did and call the plane the "737 MASK"
Anything to make the 737 Max attractive.
Because it is an attractive plane. I flew on it three times since it re entered into service and it was amazing! You should also fly on one after you got vaccinated!
@@lukilukas6900 I just read this morning that half of the 737 Max fleet have been grounded again, this time for an electrical grounding problem. Not a great track record for a "new" 54-year-old plane.
And now the MAX is back in the news for an emergency landing due to a type of routine incident that could happen with any aircraft (namely an engine-related incident). Hopefully the public can discern this from a MAX-specific safety problem instead of automatically pointing fingers at Boeing or the MAX design.
Yeah I just read about that. I’m sure I’m going to get a lot of comments saying this is a design problem with the MAX.
It’s probably going to be like with the dc-10 the news are going to make articles until nobody cares anymore
No tiene grasia volar con alaska sin television hell not
It really isn’t that bad without TVs
Reviews make no sense. They’re more like paid advertisements for boing 737 max.
Blah, blah. Just like every other plane pretty much.
dont get me wrong i like the 737 its nick name is fat alburt back in the 70s 80s but give me back my l-1011 tri star
