    Welcome to iTripReport's flight reviews, which I focus on reviewing both the soft product and hard product of airlines around the globe. I strive to give you guys a first person perspective of different aspects of the flight. Including the ground service, onboard service, and those views that come with the flight. As you can see, I record quite a lot of the experience to make sure I record what you want to watch. As always, thank you so much for watching.

    I love the design of those rotating overhead bins, they give the cabin a sense of more space. Whilst Airbus A320NEO bins may be larger, this bins make the cabin look and feel roomier.

    • @Blank00

      Funny thing is a few airlines put A350-esque bins in their A321s, bur Airbus decided on the flat bins instead

    If United can't finish retrofits by 2025, I don't think it's fair to blame United. Accoring to a PaxEx Aero article, Panasonic is having trouble making the IFEs due to chip shortage, and that's beyond United's reasonable control. Kinda similar to how it would be unreasonable to blame airlines for whatever problem Boeing has.

    • @johniii8147

      They also have tons of new narrow bodies coming in the next few years. A lot of the planes will probably be retired rather than retrofitted. 270 on order.

      But Delta and jetblue still manage to get enough tvs on their planes

    • @Blank00
      @Blank00 Год назад +4

      @@jcspotter7322 That's because they've done it before the supply chain issues started. While on that matter, Delta and Jetblue have also been hit by supply chain issues. Why else did Delta put their ex-LionAir 737-900ERs (which some lack PTVs) into service without retrofitting them? And why else does Jetblue still have 11 A320s remaining with old seats and PTVs that are older than what's on United's 737NGs? And why does Delta have 757-200s with old economy seats, despite their plans to keep them around for longer than UA's 757s?

    • @jcspotter7322
      @jcspotter7322 Год назад

      @@Blank00 they still were able to get plenty of planes in even with those chip issues. But the chip shortage isn't a thing anymore since the factory has been operating for well over a year now. It's other factors that have become unacceptable that they're still taking this long to fix.

    I flew on a United 737 Max 8 with the NEXT upgrade from Houston for Newark and it was a great flight the legroom was great and it was comfortable I’m glad they are starting to take delivery of more MAX 8s and a because the old -800 and -900 are really showing there age and honestly I can only do 2 hours max on a United -800 or -900 now because of how horrible the legroom is in economy but on the MAX 8 and 9 it’s a world difference with more legroom and the brand new IFE

    • @klas_aviation8565

      Considering they had some type of merger or something with PW way back when they were created from Boeing. They will probably choose PW. Look at all of their 767's, 757's, 747's, 777's and A320's. They all have PW made engines if the type is available. The 757's today have RR's because they are former Continental. Some 772''s have GE90 because they are former Continental as well. The 767-400 has the GE CF6's because it was the only option. So chances are, it's not gonna be CFM LEAP, based on history, it will 100% be the PW's.

    I think the way to tell if United is getting their act together is if they prioritize their retrofits correctly. Delta and Alaska made the mistake of retrofitting planes that they ended up retiring (Delta 777 and Alaska A320s) and that's why Delta hasn't finished retrofitting their A330CEOs and 767-300s, and that's why Alaska only started retrofitting their 737NGs. For United's retrofit program, that's why I have a strong opinion that goes as follows: retrofit the 30 MAX9s first, and retrofit the A320-200s last.

    I flew the United 737 MAX from SFO-IAH, and the 737 NG from IAH-ORD recently. In both cases I would say it's just barely "okay". For me the seats are just not comfortable in economy. I think United is trying to make improvements here and there, but overall the experience is a bit of a let down. The most recent bad experience was getting food poisoning on my HND-SFO flight onboard an aging 777-300. The seats and interior had been updated with their cheap blue plastic seat material. Setting the sickness aside, the food itself was probably the worst I've ever had on an international flight. I'm comparing to EVA Air and ANA that I took over to Asia - which were orders of magnitude much better experience.

    • @Blank00
      @Blank00 Год назад +1

      Seat comfort is subjective. There are people that think the seats are comfirtable. Personally, I think United seats are fine for a 4h flight that I flew on and as comfy as the latest from Southwest and Jetblue. In America, United is not alone in using slimline seats.

    Excellent video. However, there's nothing worse than a screaming baby on an airplane! It's not fair that passengers have to listen to the noise. I wish clueless parents would recognize that the difference in air pressure hurts their babies' ears, so they should consider other forms of travel when possible for the baby's sake.

    I flew on the Max 9 from MCO to ORD, and it was indeed a great flight!
    However, because I fly on so many domestic flights in other countries, I do feel that it's time for US airlines to stop making excuses and start serving passengers proper meals on flights longer than 2 hours, even if it's for purchase. It's such a huge rip-off, especially considering the cost of flying nowadays.

    • @johniii8147

      People don't choose domestic flights in the US for the meals in economy. It's all about fare and schedule. Other countries are an entirely different markets. US carriers have gotten very good at being profitable and that's their mission.

    • @sainnt
      @sainnt Год назад

      @@johniii8147 Respectfully, I disagree. While it's true that US airlines are good at being profitable, they don't price their tickets based on schedule. All businesses operate based on what customers tolerate. Americans, for years have nothing to compare which is why US airlines get away with providing them lousy inflight services.
      US airlines don't price international fares lower than their foreign competitors, but are forced to provide similar service, a prime example being the highly competitive New York to London route. US airlines charge a higher fare to fly people from New York to Los Angeles, and get away with providing only a beverage service on a 5 hour flight. Most don't even offer meals for purchase. It's a crime!

      @@sainnt You don't seem to understand how airline economics work. They absolutely do and can price based on schedule. Non stops claim a premium, the dominant carrier with the most flights gets the higher average fare on a given route. They price based on demand and schedule. Peak departure times are generally priced higher based on revenue management. You will find cheaper fares on off days/seasons. And absolutely incorrect that NYC to LHR is cheaper than to LAX if you're looking at economy fares in most cases. I just pulled up some pricing on AA and you can do to London for $701 in main cabin or 551 basic economy and LAX prices out to $218/278 for basic and main. Well less than half the price to fly to LA vs LHR. And it's hilarious that you think it's a "crime" they don't feed you if you're paying $218 to travel on a 5 hour flight to the west coast from NYC. You get what you do or do not pay for.

      @@johniii8147 Well, thanks for stating the obvious in terms of nonstop flights and connection flights. I appreciate it, but you clearly missed the point.
      First of all, legacy carriers introduced basic economy in order to better compete with ultra low cost carriers, but that price point has no impact on inflight service.
      Those fares you just randomly looked up completely ignored the fact that, sometimes, those same flights from New York to LAX cost as much as the London route, sometimes more, and, sometimes the New York to London fares cost less than the ones you just looked up. What doesn't change between the two, is that, because inflight service is not going to change, you will always get a blanket and a pillow plus 2 meal services whenever you fly from New York to London no matter how little you pay, and you'll always get a soft drink and a pretzel from New York to LAX no matter how much you pay. The fare you pay based on schedule and/or convenience has zero impact on inflight service, or lack thereof.
      I flew Qantas from Sydney to Brisbane, a less than 1 5 hour flight. Flew Virgin Australia from Brisbane to Townsville, a less than 2 hour flight, both domestic flights priced just like similar domestic flights here in the US. Both flights had meal services.
      I've flown on American Airlines from New York to South America, 5 hour flights, international, and got a soft drink and a pretzel. I've flown on Air Canada from Toronto to South America, similar flight time, and got a meal service. Aeromexico will serve you a meal when you fly from New York to Mexico city.
      When you have experience, your perspective would differ from that of someone with no experience.

      @@sainnt LOL. I've been in the airline industry in various capacities for now over 25 years and well over 2 million miles at this point and 30+ countries. Pricing always varies based on demand and capacity in a given market. I've in fact managed the pricing on flights. Of course you are going to find differences in service based on country/market. Meal service in economy on domestic flights is just not a driving factor in choice on US carriers. It's all about fare and schedule.

    *United discriminates. I don’t like them. I’ve been trying to be a flight attendant for United for the past 10 years and they consistently reject my applications; I speak 3 languages (English, Spanish, and French) fluently, I have at least 2 years customer service, hospitality, and airline industry experience and I have no criminal or arrest record (I was cleared by the CBP in Houston’s IAH airport for a badge - so that should at least let you know where I stand). I have some college (didn’t finish, though). They’re crude at this point and deliberately doing it to bother me. I’m about to be 30 and I just applied again and this time I just sent them a copy of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (as opposed to my resume) since they’re violating me at this point. I’ve seen them hire people that were under-qualified and monolingual and had no prior airport/airline experience and also didn’t even have a college degree… so that should give you an idea of their standards.*
