I started with United 10 days out of high school, on June 16, 1997, when United received this plane. I remember everyone, including myself, excited about the new A319s coming to UA at that time. They were and still are way more comfortable than any 737 series. I miss my days at United until 2003! If it wasn’t for 9/11 I would’ve still been there. Now great to see UA trying to be the best like they were in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Great video! As someone who is a new FA for United, it’s a very exciting time given the trajectory United is heading towards and the retrofits is a huge step forward
Congratulations!!! I miss being a flight attendant!!! I flew for almost 19 years. Last year I had to resign because I have terminal cancer. Please have fun and don't let the downsides get to you.
Congratulations Nick! I am myself trying to follow your footsteps. Put in my first-ever flight attendant application last month (with United, of course), made it to the second round of interviews, but didn't get past that. Will try again soon until I make it in! Already know a few people who are your coworkers - they are lovely people and do love their job tremendously.
This is likely an unpopular opinion, but I actually like United the most among the US big 3. I’ve flown extensively with all 3, in all their cabins (albeit only on domestic flights, but I’ve flown the international business class hard product domestically on all 3), and I have elite status with all 3, and I’ve been the most consistently happy with United. I’m not sure if it’s just a pandemic or post-pandemic thing, but I’ve felt United has had the most attentive and friendly flight attendants and pilots and the most reasonable prices, without being significantly less comfortable than Delta. I’ve been underwhelmed with Delta actually - plenty of times where flight attendants will come through in the beginning of the flight and they’ll just disappear for the rest of the flight. Not to mention Delta is typically the most expensive of the big 3. And the proper Polaris seats are just as nice/comfy as the Delta One Suites on the A350 if you get a Polaris seat next to the window and not an aisle seat
Honestly when it comes to Delta having the best reputation, it's more about hype and having the most enthusiastic fans. But then when the Delta fans start coming to discussion boards of other airlines and trash the airline in question in favor of Delta, no thanks. I don't care how good the Delta hard and soft products are, nor how good their crew are, if that's how their customers/fans behave, that's a hard no. Another transportation company that I refuse to patronize for the same reason: Lyft. As for me, United is my favorite major airline, but I will also gladly fly American, and if going a bit smaller, Alaska is my favorite as well. Also while I never experienced the current Polaris hard product, I've experienced the Polaris soft product on the old Global First suites and loved it.
Despite the old PSU's and sidewalls staying, from what I saw in the video, they got rid of the old wallpaper that was on the side panels which before gave the aircraft a very vintage feel. I don't mind the old PSU and sidewalls staying because mixing old with new is kinda cool to me.
I'm hoping they don't do the same for the older 737s. For those, they should either keep the Continental wallpaper (similar to what AA did) or upgrade to Sky interior sidewalls (which is what KLM did). If they put in white classic sidewalls, it's doesn't look good.
In all honesty, this may seem weird, but I hated the fact they changed the No-smoking and fasten seat belt signs to Boeing…… it’s not aesthetically pleasing
Great video my friend, I still have yet to fly on this plane or the A320 that's been put back into service. Wish they gave us new galleys, but hey, I'm glad I'm not doing a live demo anymore! Keep up the good work :)

The A319 looks a bit odd, but they cleaned it all up and updated everything enough that it isn’t bothersome. I’ve personally never seen an airline do a full retrofit of a 738 and not convert it to sky interior, so I’m crossing my fingers United doesn’t go cheap on us and just replace the seats.
@@LegitimateAviation Given a 737 without a sky interior, there are many ways this can go (if we ignore the seats). We like this style economy class better amen, thank you god for allowing me to experience, united airlines, I was a airline manager 4 2023 With all new sponsors.
United has been one of my favorite airlines in the world, but it might just be my luck, but I have only flown their old liveries to far, so I haven't got the new livery cabin, I will always love UA though. So I can't wait to see what the new cabin will feel like for myself.
I’m really happy UA decided to retrofit their Airbus! This is the 2nd time UA has screens on their A319/A320’s. The other time was before 2014 when they used to have overhead screens. This time it has the Seatback IFE screens and for the first time since 2014, there has now been a safety video play before a UA Airbus flight as it’s awesome they no longer will have to do the manual demonstration since the IFE is back! I do look forward to more of these as well too, and one last interesting thing about this video, but it looks like they had a last minute gate change at IAH. Before landing the captain said it would be gate C45, but it looks like you came into gate C31 or something like that? Anyways great video of both this one and the one of the B737-800NG as I have yet to watch one of the B757-200 new interior which I will shortly, and hope you also do a trip report on the A320 new interior, and in the future on a B737-900 and B757-300 new interior once they send those aircraft types into retrofit over time!
As of now, the planes I have seen with the NEXT interior are the 767s, 757-200s, and A319s. The 767s look STUNNING! (they just need mood lighting), the 400s have moonlights for some reason but not the 300s LOL.
It’s bc the 300s were some of the first to be retrofitted (after the 777s) and at the time untied wasn’t necessarily all in on mood lighting. The 400s have been the last of the wide bodies to get a proper upgrade, so they will probably end up being a bit nicer. The other reason might just be bc United wants to retire the 767s in the next few years (once they get a replacement), so they might not care too much to spend that much money on them.
It seems like A319 first class also gets a revised screen. The screens in MAX first class have small plastic circles at the bottom to cover up an inactive camera, so that United does not face false accusations of spying on passengers. I guess Panasonic recently decided to make screens with no camera
That's on supply chain issue. Wifi retrofits will be a separate retrofit. On the 737NGs, they started changing out wifi antennas before starting NEXT for NGs. For the Airbuses, it is vice versa. If you want to see what going halfway (or less than that) looks like, look no further than Alaska Airlines just reupholstering old first class seats on their 737-800s and not upgrading to Space Bins, or look at Delta not putting in new Delta One seats on their A330CEOs despite retrofitting those A330s
The seats are the same Recaro model that American pulled out of their A319/21 and 737’s ironically… they’re also very similar to the Recaro slimline seats UA had previously. I wonder if there was a way to “retrofit” the old seats by removing the tray table and literature pocket and installing an IFE system and new tray table onto them..? Maybe they’re the same seats as before but modified and refurbished? Or maybe they’re American’s old seats that they just finished removing..?
I think it's the same seats, but with retrofitted seatbacks. Retrofitting seatbacks onto existing seats has been done on United's 787-8, Delta's 737-800, and back when Continental existed, they put DirecTV onto existing seats
Channel 9 is definitely the feature that peaks my interest the most. Was it working? Every UA that's had it recently either didn't have it working or the crew may opt to make it unavailable. (Maybe for security reasons) Channel 9 for all!
I made the mistake of not asking the pilots on this flight. But next Airbus flight with this cabin I definitely will, and report back. If am correct this used to be a feature on the airbus up until 2015ish when United refurbished the planes and got rid of AVOD. Sadly, on the 737 MAX Channel 9 is still not activated since they had bugs in which the system would tap into pilots conversations. So while it’s installed, it’s still shown as INOP for pilots
Glad they finally put screens. It is so annoying with having to use one's phone. Same for American. That's why I prefer Delta and JetBlue though they don't offer music. Forget catering. And their international catering was recently downgraded from a nice ice cream to a cookie.
Yo so glad to see United improving! They kinda sucked for a good 7 years… Can’t wait to try out that product, especially on the A319/20s longer flights. Great video btw!
@@upaviation787 I’ve flown United all my life and have seen the goods and bads. I’ve had very few bad experiences flying them, and my only complaint I really ever had was the lacking of proper hard product amenities on domestic flights. I’m not sure what people hate about United, as quite honestly, I’ve had worse experiences flying delta. Delta has an arguably equal to United product now (with UAs retrofits), but they’ve really lacked in ground service and overall customer care. I’m a nobody to United as I’ve never collected any points (which I kinda regret), but my family has decent status on delta and it’s still nothing special. So to wrap up what I’m saying, I really don’t think United is bad at all especially compared to many other airlines. While Delta might have a better overall product most of the time, United has proved to make due with what they have. Not every airline is perfect of course, so I don’t typically hold these things against the airlines bc it changes so often. These are just my opinions based off experience, I can’t speak for others and vice versa as we all have had different experiences.
United's $8 wifi certainly isn't as good as free, but I do appreciate that it's actually fleet-wide on all domestic flights. Unlike Delta where yes getting a free wifi equipped plane is nice, but plenty of planes still don't have free wifi yet, like an A220 I caught last week, and wifi costs more on those. Some Delta widebodies are charging $30 for 4 hours of wifi and it sounds like Delta has no plans to lower those prices as they don't seem interested in offering free wifi on domestic widebodies; while I wish the wifi was free I do at least appreciate the price consistency on United (and Alaska / Southwest for that matter who both also charge $8).
@@jhelinski Exactly. That was nip picking and these planes will be gone in 5 years max at the new the planes on order are delivered. Huge expense to replace all that.
Luck for now completely. They only have 2 existing aircraft with the retrofit. There is no way to tell. It will become a lot more likely as the new orders start arriving.
As a newer viewer of the channel, I wonder why you dislike BNA so much? It’s my home airport and I work there now with AA. I know the north terminal (A and B gates) are EXTREMELY outdated but in the next 5-6 years the north end should be completely updated.
Always a hit or miss for me out of Miami. Funny enough just a few days ago I flew EWR-SAN on a 6am flight (which I had no idea existed), and not only was I the only 1K onboard, the FA told me I was the only UA status holder on the half full MAX 8 haha
@@ITripReport I usually just pay for it on domestic routes now since go real tired of depending on an upgrade. The Y up fares are usually not that much more expensive anymore.
It is not practical to remove vents from planes that have them or add them to planes that don’t. In general, planes that are built with vents will continue to have vents and those without will continue to not have them. All narrowbodies from Boeing and Airbus are built with vents, it is just some widebodies that do not have vents
IAH my home airport! It drives me nuts when the cabin lighting isn't FULLY dimmed for landing on evening flights leaving that window reflection--ugh! I remember back in the early 90's when BNA was a mini-hub for AA--flew their MD-80s from IAH to connect to ORD and BOS at various times--have not flown UA in decades--last time I flew them was when they still had the 737-200's IAH-ORD --incredibly I've yet to fly a US carrier that features seatback IFE
@@Blank00IAH was a CO and Texas Int'l hub years ago--CO occupied the north wing of Terminal C, Texas Int'l the south wing--wouldn't know anything about the IFE situation
The next goal for UA is to bring the new cabin interior to there regional airlines and revamp the entire catering , mood lighting on a E145, E175 goes a long way
That's will not be a good idea because in a blink of an eye, regional jets can transfer to DL or AA. We are seeing this happen with Air Wisconsin CRJ200s and some E170s. Who knows what's next to follow suit, or which planes will be next to transfer into United after Mesa's CRJ900s. This is also why none of Delta's regional jets have IFE, despite Delta boasting to have the most IFEs in a US domestic fleet.
@@Blank00 another thing too is that the big carriers don’t care much about the regional jets as they don’t make much profit from them. They will go as far as to match the quality of seats and service, but most of the time they will go as basic as possible to save money for larger more flown on aircraft. As for the older e145s and CRJ200s, United probably won’t ever touch those bc they are old and small. Most of the new cabins on regional jets we see are entirely new deliveries, or like the CRJ550 that was torn down the main frame and rebuilt to have an entirely different purpose (less seats, crew, etc)
@@Blank00 the flight attendants speaking didn't seem happy and her voice sounded like an independence day alien wanting to say to humanity "no peace, die for $ when we get the tools to exterminate most of you in US for $ from airline executives to do so!!" Even if United Airlines Boeing B737 and Airbus A320 aircraft is as competitive as Delta Airlines and includes high speed wifi. United Airlines will always charge for WiFi and service will be no where as good as Delta Airlines. Yeah plus United Airlines and American Airlines does not want to give the profit sharing Delta Airlines pays their employees. Till then American Airlines is the ultimate cheapskate airlines. I could see United Airlines products being competitive with JetBlue. And yes Southwest Airlines, JetBlue, Delta Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and United Airlines planes will be so much nicer than American Airlines and very competitive.
If United wants to become America's #1 carrier they need to treat the employees better. I'm talking better work rules, and overall, treat the employees like adults. When an employee is treated like an adult it will show in their work ethics. Although raises are nice (and certainly much needed) it truly doesn't take significant raises for your employees to respect you. It takes humane treatment to show appreciation. Sometimes good humane treatment means more than a raise. I don't care if I'm making $200k per year. If I'm being treated like garbage and I don't know if I'll have a job tomorrow, I'm gone.
They will never be #1, they are the absolute worst and if they want to be the best they’ll have to fire every staff member, get new cleaning services, and GET NEW REAL FOOD instead of some cold disgusting shit
If United wants to be the best carrier, I hope they learn respect and not be vicious in basic economy and add carry ons to basic economy if they can fit all carry ons.
Lol compared to delta which is considered the best, it’s pretty much the same experience in my opinion. I haven’t seen any US carrier ever make their seats thicker besides maybe first or business class.

United has been one of my favorite airlines in the world, but it might just be my luck, but I have only flown their old liveries to far, so I haven't got the new livery cabin, I will always love UA though. So I can't wait to see what the new cabin will feel like for myself.
That united flight attendant endlessly playing with his hair had me dying haha
I’ll be flying UA next week in First on their Max 9 to Cancun so I’m very excited to try that product.❤️✈️
If it's a MAX 9 from the first delivery batch it won't have their most updated version.
This may be a united video but for a moment, I thought that american cabin at the start was like an old spirit or allegiant or other ULCC Cabin
Parks & Rec rocks!
finally looking nice like Jetblue
@@LegitimateAviation isn't there some rumor avout how four retrofitted planes out of the sixteen -400s don't have moodlighting
@@Blank00 I’m not all that good at keeping up with rumors. There very well could be, but one could argue those planes went first.
From where you get so much information about this airplane? History and more.
Almost a BabyBus!
It seems like A319 first class also gets a revised screen. The screens in MAX first class have small plastic circles at the bottom to cover up an inactive camera, so that United does not face false accusations of spying on passengers. I guess Panasonic recently decided to make screens with no camera
Great video! As 1k, did you claim your snack box as well?
I heard that these A319s are supposed to have Braille placards. Where are those in the A319?
How do I know if my flight will have the new interior and TV screens in advance?
Didn’t know BA flies to Nashville.
I can not believe United did not up grade its wifi. Always going half way!!!!!
I love this interior however I totally agree with you on the side walls, it just doesn’t look right. Nice Trip Report!
You can look up Cathay Dragon A320 interior. I think United used the same retrofit (aside from seats) design as Cathay Dragon.
did channel 9 ❤(ATC) work for you? Recently flew a MAX 9 DEN-LAS-DEN and it was just silence both flights. The max 9 interior was cool though.
@@Blank00 very true!
I think they are the same seat model American used on their short haul planes pre-oasis.
AA has not pulled them from their a319s yet
Channel 9 is definitely the feature that peaks my interest the most. Was it working? Every UA that's had it recently either didn't have it working or the crew may opt to make it unavailable. (Maybe for security reasons)
Channel 9 for all!
Where are they retrofitting the 737-800NG's and whats the tail number! This is so exciting to hear and as always great video!
N73259, it’s been in Miami since 4/30!
Although I’m sure we will we more retrofit locations later on
@@ITripReport I flew on that on its last flight before refit
@@ITripReport and to make things very interesting, that plane went into Miami without the Sky interior.
@@ITripReport Question: How do you know which -800s have received retrofits? Is there a way to track them?
Nobody is getting on the plane thinking that the sidewalls or PSUs look dated. Lol
Was the other carrier Alaska or Southwest?
Glad they finally put screens. It is so annoying with having to use one's phone. Same for American. That's why I prefer Delta and JetBlue though they don't offer music. Forget catering. And their international catering was recently downgraded from a nice ice cream to a cookie.
The fact u noticed the seatbelt sign 😂😂😂😂😂
If the first clip is AAL, it looks like a very disappointing experience. The UA a319 looks really nice and clean.
Fun fact, the AA plane I flew coming in used to have the same exact seats the UA A319 i flew in has!
@@ITripReport I remember those, they were better then decent, too bad they are gone. I enjoy your videos, keep it up.
For an A319 it’s too nice 😂
Yo so glad to see United improving! They kinda sucked for a good 7 years…
Can’t wait to try out that product, especially on the A319/20s longer flights.
Great video btw!
You like United bro?
White text over light background’s yea thats readable
Um where do you go next?
Make a United 737-700 economy trip report
I’m honestly shocked I haven’t, I’ve been ending up in a lot of those recently so next time I will!
@@ITripReport you have the best videos ever
DL is quickly changing that. Just take some time to roll out since a new system has to be installed.
Do u know why they didn’t replace the PSU’s or sidewalls?
Not worth the extra $ for a 25 year old plane. And no one will know the difference. It looks fine.
@@jhelinski Exactly. That was nip picking and these planes will be gone in 5 years max at the new the planes on order are delivered. Huge expense to replace all that.
How did you know your flight would be operated by the new cabin? Or was it pure luck?
Luck for now completely. They only have 2 existing aircraft with the retrofit. There is no way to tell. It will become a lot more likely as the new orders start arriving.
So how can you afford such travels?
As a newer viewer of the channel, I wonder why you dislike BNA so much? It’s my home airport and I work there now with AA. I know the north terminal (A and B gates) are EXTREMELY outdated but in the next 5-6 years the north end should be completely updated.
Running gag I had on a video a few years ago, were I kept hinting at a BNA diversion throughout the video, which ended up happening.
Who is getting all these upgrades?!? I’m 1K too and I’m always far down 😑
Probably traveling out of busy UA hub where there of TONS of 1Ks.
Will they be flying that plane for much longer? Why bother remodeling such an old plane if it will soon be retired?
Finally United is catching up with Delta. I wish I could say the same about American.
They would have taken away the air vents. So be happy they didnt update those XD
It is not practical to remove vents from planes that have them or add them to planes that don’t. In general, planes that are built with vents will continue to have vents and those without will continue to not have them. All narrowbodies from Boeing and Airbus are built with vents, it is just some widebodies that do not have vents
It's interesting how Virgin had all this stuff YEAARS before all the other airlines
(I think)
ikr
the virgin america reference :(
United is officially better than American wow
That's not hard to do with the route AA went. AA's narrow bodies might as well be Spirit or Frontier with how they went.
Wasn't IAH a Continental hub? Continental put IFEs into their narrowbodies for the final few years before their merger.
@@Blank00IAH was a CO and Texas Int'l hub years ago--CO occupied the north wing of Terminal C, Texas Int'l the south wing--wouldn't know anything about the IFE situation
Can the screens rotate like on the MAX?
@@Blank00 actually the E175s that are operated by Skywest and Mesa are owned by United. The only airline that owns the 175s is Republic.
@@cbiasizzo but what about other types (all CRJs, ERJ145s)?
@@Blank00 another thing too is that the big carriers don’t care much about the regional jets as they don’t make much profit from them. They will go as far as to match the quality of seats and service, but most of the time they will go as basic as possible to save money for larger more flown on aircraft. As for the older e145s and CRJ200s, United probably won’t ever touch those bc they are old and small. Most of the new cabins on regional jets we see are entirely new deliveries, or like the CRJ550 that was torn down the main frame and rebuilt to have an entirely different purpose (less seats, crew, etc)
I don’t think they’ll ever be on regional aircraft. Never seen IFE on regional US carriers
“Turn bag on side” means “don’t maximize storage space”
It means exactly the opposite if equipped with new bins.

These look WAY better than their 737 max cabins, either way they’ll stay the worst airline
United is not the Worst airline
Even if United Airlines Boeing B737 and Airbus A320 aircraft is as competitive as Delta Airlines and includes high speed wifi.
😂First😂.
So same wooden cardboard seats with a screen on it. Yawn!
They repadded the seats
Lol compared to delta which is considered the best, it’s pretty much the same experience in my opinion. I haven’t seen any US carrier ever make their seats thicker besides maybe first or business class.
