    I am working in United Airlines as a Customer Support Online. Best advice to all the passengers is that to be nice and not being rude eventhough you are experiencing a inconvenience we all understand that and we guarantee you to do all our best to fix your concern. And we are waiving seats like economy plus seat for compensation to make you feel comfortable.

    A very nice gate agent upgraded me to Economy Plus for no particular reason that I could tell. Of course I was delighted. However, I didn’t really notice any difference between Economy and Economy Plus, even though there was supposedly extra leg room. Knowing this, I would not choose to actually pay the extra money for Economy Plus. I felt quite special getting the upgrade though.

    Hello! Thanks for the video. I’ll be flying internationally with United Airlines in a few days and have a regular Economy ticket. I thought all seats on United had a space overhead for a carry on luggage/suitcase. Should I be concerned that my seat, which is kind’ve in the back of the plane, won’t have a space for my carry on and I’ll have to check that suitcase?

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  Год назад

      Most international flights are larger with more space for carry on but you always are at risk of having to gate check your carry on. We had to do this on one international flight. Nothing you can do about it so, no need to worry, just be prepared if they make an announcement. Also, don't volunteer to gate check, try to get on the plane with hit unless they insist 😉

      I re-read this so if you fly international United to the USA (Domestic) Your first touch into the USA you'll have to go through immigration which means you will collect your checked luggage and process it through. Then go to your Domestic flight and back through security.
      If you are flying Domestically USA to your International flight, for example From Dallas to New York to catch the long-haul flight, then your luggage will be checked all the way through till you get to your international destination. Hope this helps

    I just started flying UA again after 13 years because they recently restarted their Dubai service. Due to “enhanced security screening for US bound flights” out of DXB, they took everyone’s water for some reason at an additional screening point at the gate. There were some unhappy faces, especially for folks who purchased new bottles of water after getting airside.

    • @Zachus

    Tip #1. Choose ANY other airline other than United.
    Tip #2. Drive
    Tip #3. Walk
    Tip #4. Crawl
    Tip #5. Wait until the tectonic plates collide in a manner that will allow you to drive, walk or crawl.

    Great video! Will be flying international and I wanted to confirm some stuff regarding baggage. On the site, United states "Carry-on bags are not included unless you're flying to South America, across the Atlantic or across the Pacific." and "You can check your bags for a fee. If you’re flying across the Pacific, you get one free checked bag." My itinerary states that I get two free checked bags, but I only need to check one and plan on bringing a small carry on luggage and a personal item. Would this fit the criteria?
    I bought a basic economy ticket, but traveling international. So I don't want to risk bringing a carry on and having to check it and would rather it stay with me on the duration of the trip.
    Thanks!

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  Год назад +4

      Carry on for international is always available to all classes, 1 carry on and 1 personal item. It is more rare on international flights but there is a chance of a gate check if you are on the very back of the plane and they run out of overhead bin space. Again this is really rare on international flights, you should be fine.
      United does charge a checked luggage fee for economy with the exceptions you mentioned. If you choose Premium Economy, Business Class or First on international flights, you will get free checked luggage. United luggage goes $30 first bag, $40 second bag and $200 each additional bags as of Feb 2023.
      I hope this helps you. Sounds like you already have everything included FREE for your trip that you need (1 carry on, 1 personal item and 1 checked).
      Safe travels! Have fun!

    • @Zachus
      @Zachus  11 месяцев назад

      TSA controls this, not the airlines and it is different at every security check point based on the equipment, state laws, and airport rules. Most of it is standardized. There's newer equipment coming to most major airports that prevent you having to take everything out which is nice. Watch for people putting their entire luggage, backpacks, etc... into bins, and get in that line
      Yellow dot? I know they have orange but usually indicates First Class domestically. I would need to see it. As long as you have a seat assigned and its the one you selected, you should be good.

      You can but it's not easy. If you show up the day of your flight you will pay $$$ you need to go 15 or more days before your flight. Online is better because you can play around with dates and times and airlines to find the best flight and cheapest rate.
      If you go to the Airport, you have to stand in line, walk up to United, ask them, walk down to American, stand in line, ask them... etc... your time and energy is worth more I think. But you can do it that way if you want

You mentioned you have the large Away carry-on (which measures 22.7” x 14.7” x 9.6”) - have you ever had issues with it being slightly oversized? Also in the video you mentioned having the battery pack with the Away bag is helpful but I had a few friends complain they were forced to remove it at TSA - did you ever have that issue?

      Samsonite is a well-known brand and if they called it a carry-on it should meet the standards and be fine.
      I travel with large carry-on always even internationally and have only had mine checked once. TSA does not regulate this, they are only security. The gate will be where they catch it as you are boarding. Worse case they will Gate check it or sky bridge check it. But I think you'll be fine as long as you are not at the back of the plane, then even small carry-on get checked at that point.
      I've never had ANY issues with any of my AWAY Carry-on, called the Bigger Carry-on. I travel everywhere with it and no issues.
