- 1 owner 230k miles. The cheapest Volvo xc70. What did I get for my money? This video was recorded in November. I've lost a lot of footage so this video is what I could salvage from 3 videos I had in mind for this car.

Your content is good ... but when youre moving about... you move your camera alot ..i got dizzy sorry had to stop watching
thanks man i've gotten that feedback few times now I thin newer videos are much better regarding production quality. that was shot almost a year ago
This and the A6 C6 were ahead of their time in terms of design. They still feel fresh.
Yeah definably! Even the interior doesnt look of feel old
Were you holding the camera on a yo-yo string.
Early teething problems
Should have kept the xc70 instead of a ford ranger😂
Got to admit I do miss it but it wasn't suitable for what I needed a car for
@@ADM_Kgoing to pick up my xc70 2015 D5 tomorrow, and selling my land rover discovery money pit🤮
In my opinion the last true volvos.
@@ADM_Kdefinitely. Maybe ill remove the dpf and egr in the future. Also thinking about doing a 3inch lift and slapping some all terrains on it. Would be pretty cool. Just need something reliable with decent mileage for now though before i start messing with it😂
You'll be going thru a lot of drive shafts with 3 inch lift haha. But I would love to see it. I've seen alot of videos doing it to first gen xc70 on yt.
Yours seems to have been doing badly for fuel consumption, but I guess the weight works against you a lot in town.
Yeah definitely. And to be honest with you and not the most efficient driver. Other than fuel consumption the car was great
I have a v50 estate and get 44mpg brilliant car
just got a v70 myself 2009 plate, i hit all the channel buttons
2.5D?
I do have to admit I do miss my volvo

Thats the ford engine. Very robust when taken care of. And parts are cheap and easy to get
all the stamps in book up to last year, so fingers crosst lol @@ADM_K, i also concur the hand brake button should of went the other way, and took me a day or so fighting with it to relies, one only ever needs it really when parking or stopping for min or two, rest of time it switches itself off
The handbrake button is up there with one of the most idiotic designs in the history of the automobile. We tested this back in 2008 and really were very unimpressed. We've owned a 940 estate from new, and indeed the boot on this is a joke compared to the 940, which can take full sheets of ply!
yeah i was surprised how narrow and sallow the boot is
Im looking at the Skoda Octavia Scout or the XC70. Which would you choose? Main considerations are off road capability, loadspace, running costs and insurance cost as i am a young driver. Thanks 👍
hands down the scout. volvo is more luxurious but the scout was better parts support. More spacious inside. Both use haldex awd system but the scout is lighter so its better offroad and on fuel. Scout was averaging 60mpg volvo struggled to get 28mpg, I would recommend scouts 2009 onwards alot if issues they fixed in those
@@ADM_K your XC70 appears to have really poor economy like your numbers are closer to what the highways numbers are for the much quicker 2.5L T5 gas engine.
i just have lead shoes
@@ADM_K yeah that’s true too. The XC70 defiantly drops fuel economy off a cliff when you’re throwing it around a bit.
well I still love it. I have several I think it’s the last proper Volvo I’m not saying it’s the best, but like the last proper…. It’s chunky everything has a purpose it’s built to last and sure it can be a little more expensive to maintain, but honestly for the quality you typically get it’s worth it. I mean I have several that are over 300,000 miles and you wouldn’t even know it.
@@Honeypot-x9s 'chunky' , 'quality'. Quality is no better than competition including cheaper competition. Many find the v/s40/50 low quality
You said super thirsty but 6-7L /100km isn’t that bad
it was averaging 30mpg at best witch is 9.5L/100km
my old octavia scout was doing about 6-7L/100km
11:00 youre welcome
How much did he pay for it
you'll have to watch the video to find out
The boot is not tiny. Perhaps you should buy a van if you want massive amounts of load space.
i have owned 3 estates. by far the volvo had the smallest boot space
@@ADM_K but it’s not tiny though is it.
@@ADM_K can you tell me which onces? i was thinking this volvo has the biggest boot space in their segment :o
@@wojciech5177 cars i had before the volvo all had bigger boot space which are mk2 octavia scout. passat b5 estate, 09 megane. The issue with the xc70 is that the awd system robs alot of boot space making the boot shallow
