i love them too but they're not really classless to ppl who have to own/maintain them over very high miles. And stereotypes are often attached, in a couple ways, e.g. very cautious ppl, or very aggresive drivers, even, in some cases. I did see a dad aggresively driving this model once, he cut out into traffic to overtake me on my superbike, so yeah...(and with his darlings in the back no less)
Glad to see you enjoying your tank! I’m positive once you refresh the front struts/springs/end links it’ll feel like a new car. That was the most significant area of improvement when I refreshed my front suspension in my XC70 2.5T at 230k miles (currently sitting at around 265k). I saw the rear sway bar already mentioned. One thing I would highly, highly recommend is Delrin subframe bushings if you can get ahold of them on your side of the pond. They TRANSFORMED the way my XC felt on the road. They’re kind of an in-between of OEM rubber bushings and Polyurethane bushings. Almost as soft and quiet as OEM bushings, but much better road feel and lean-in. Makes it feel like it’s not lifted, while still being a lifted wagon! No rush, but I’m sure engine mounts will be coming up for you soon and that’s an excellent time to throw them in.
I have a 2015 that has almost 200k on it. I've only had it under a year, and I love it! Have had to make a few repairs, but once issues are addressed, it runs beautifully
A pleasure to watch your video. My mother has a 2001 for 150,000 miles. The 2004 are known to be bulletproof. The maintenance details are a beautiful story!
I have an '08 approaching 160k and it's had quite a few quirky problems but I can't bring myself to get rid of her...these cars are beasts! I drove for quite a while with a snapped serpentine belt and it just kept on running
I had a very similar S60 T5, absolutely awesome set of wheels. People who rode in it with me would start scanning ads for similar cars, and one colleague got an XC70 for the added practicality. Truly unsung heroes, this generation of Volvo cars.
04 v70 , heated seats are hot for me. (usa). new control arms make a big difference in handling. get a copy of vida on a laptop , you'll need it. change the nicad battery in the alarm module before it leaks all over the control board and destroys it. loosen brake bleeder screws with air hammer fitted with a "shake and break".

What a beautifully presented video. This makes such a change from the American stuff with constant jump cuts. It seems to me that Americans are terrified to stop talking.
I have quite the nugget of an XC70 as my first car (V70 XC actually, whatever). Rare manual+petrol option, 2001, 372 000 km on the clock, got it at 330k. In 2 years I've raced it, off-roaded it, crashed it, customized it, upgraded it, lived in it and last but not least fixed it myself countless times. I still smile every time I look back at it after parking. Yes it has it's weird quirks with electronics, but it has never left me stranded - it always gets to point B in absolute comfort. A couple of tips: the pre facelift steering pump reservoir is garbage. They bulge and leak, swap it out with a 2005+ one. Also, I highly suggest getting VIDA + DiCE tool for your car, it will be a life saver for when you inevitably run into volvo problems. P.S. I really envy your interior, it's immaculate compared to mine!
If you have access to volvo vida diagnostics you can alter the seat heating temp, they are set to low from the factory, was the 1st thing i did with my 2004 v40 and my 2004 s60.
I had a P2 Ocean Race XC70 and loved it! I now have a top of the Range P3 SE Lux Sport. Fantastic Cars! Belfast N.I to Surrey 4 times in 4 months! My p2 XC70 got money chucked at it when I bought it and it turned into a Hell of a car when I sold it 8 weeks ago.
I have an 2004 too. The handling is greatly improved with new control arms and steering components, also, that weight and degree of movement takes it's toll on the front shocks and springs. Whilst good rear setup, control arm bushings also helps. Also, its likely yours has the self levelling rear suspension, likely the 940's they do expire and are pricey to replace something like £650 each comes to mind, but handling is severely impaired if they are leaking. I avoid all Pirelli tyres as they make the steering heavy and unpredictable, with excessive load on the steering system. Good, Continental winter and summer tyres, give predictable balanced handling across a wide range of speeds, conditions and loadings, more expensive than some but worthwhile. A second set of wheels, makes swapping to winter tyres much easier and cheaper. I competely agree about comfort, I have had mine since nearly new and driven long journeys in great comfort for all. The D5 engine with the Auto box makes for reasuirng progress even fully laden up steep motorways.
I had a S60 2.0ltr V70T5 XC70 D5 All had the same front suspension faults Too much weight on the front but on a plus they had the best music system with its subwoofer in the dash👍
Enjoyed your review - we have a P3 2015 bought in 2021 80k miles (now 110k) - totally agree with your assessment. Have had all the main jobs done, including cambelt and other aux belts, brake discs. We took it from the south coast up to the lake District - it ate up the miles and performed well in various muddy fields we parked in while fell walking. Great to park on a mountain side verge in bad weather and return to after the day long walks. Looks classy to me - rugged and capable. Is quite good in rough stuff too if you don't wade too far.
I’ve owned an X plate, 2001 for 4 years, and it’s been great. Sadly time has caught up with it and there is too much wrong to economically repair, so I have taken it off the road. It was an excellent car though for many years.
New suspension components and your good looking tires will greatly help the handling of your tank. Mine can corner comfortably at 30 to 35 mph. I autocross British sports cars like my 79 mgb roadster. So comfortable for me may not be for others. And of course these things are tanks in the snow. I love them!
The temp of the heated seats can be adjusted either using VDASH or VIDA. They can be set to scorching hot if you care :-P The brake calipers can be reconditioned...
I fancy one of these as a winter hack. Im moving to a rural location shortly and it's narrow country lanes everywhere..One of these would be perfect...Built like a tank, reliable, really practical and comfy..and in my eyes, they still look really cool.
I do have a soft spot for the older Volvos. You've done fairly well with that one. I love the P2 shape and P3 shape XC70; comfort unsurpassed. I had the first of the next gen XC70's on a '57 plate which sort of solved one or two of the niggles with the previous gen; the heated seats had a third mode and were hotter and rear room improved; but ultimately they can get to a point where so much needs doing on them it can become hard economically to justify it but it is great you are keeping them going. I added about 43k to a 140k car in less than two years on mine and took it like a champ - really was a beater to get up during covid to see mum before she passed - without it she would have been isolated in Scotland. Now onto a '14 plate xc90 which I love but in all honesty the package of the XC70 is far more drivable and parkable.
my V70 handles like a sport car compared to the old 240's and a W124 Mercedes I have had - those were barges!!! Bottom wishbone bushes should help handling, I did mine recently with great improvement. You didn't mention the lousy turning circle! Thanks for your video, good luck!😁
Agree with the turning circle point. I put a deep scratch in one door not long after buying my V70 then proceeded to break numerous wing mirrors off reversing around my gateposts. My uncle bought a new one and did exactly the same thing! I felt very sorry for him, but was secretly reasured that it wasnt totaly down to my lousy driving!
I have the same car. I swapped out the car stereo and replaced it with JL Audio Amp, Kenwood audio deck and all 4 door speakers of Focal. Will add a subwoofer soon. But, I will definitely need to replace the engine mounts and suspension. Other than that car runs like a charm!
The P2 Volvos are such incredibly unique modern cars. My father just replaced his 2001 V70 T5 which he snapped the cambelt on at 245k miles with another 2001 V70 T5 with only 70k! It's brilliant to experience such a lovely example of the species, though his new one has a lower spec stereo that doesn't sound quite as nice but at least plays my cassettes 😂 I daily a 2012 P3/EUCD XC70 with the Bridgend T6 and I completely know what you mean about the 'wallowyness' of this type of car; my XC70 also has a peculiar fidgeting over bumps that can upset the steering a bit which doesn't happen in either the older V70 or my mom's gen1 XC60, so I wonder if certain handling elements are compromised since the XC70 is a modification on the base V70 instead of a ground-up CUV, if you will.
We had a 2008 XC 6 cyl that was wallowy. The 2016 T5 with 18 inch wheels drives totally differently. Agile and sporty. The 2001 XC drove like an overloaded 850 on stilts. 2004 would have been heavily revised, but I have not driven one.
Good video, I’ve just sent my 52 plate 202000 mile Audi avant Quattro to the scrap dealer in the sky and now looking at an XC70 to replace it as a daily runner to and from work plus on and off sites
I’ve owned a 2014 V40 T5 Cross Country since new here in Phuket Thailand. With only 39,000km driven, I love it and have no intention of ever selling. Currently looking for a 2002-04 V70 here in Thailand, to keep my V40 company in the car-park here at home. That and I have a 2 1/2 yr old Golden Retriever with plans to get another in the coming months. The V70 will be perfect for trips to the beach with the dogs……
Great car, benefit of 4x4 but running cost of an estate. However I had a standard P3 v70 then swapped for a mk4.5 mondeo estate- basically similar underpinnings, yet the mondeo drive much tighter and handling is way ahead of the Volvo, also had less rattles, and something I noticed sat in the back is the rear seat base seems quite short in comparison to the mondeo which me at 5’10 seems much more roomy and seats are better size.
Just bled all 4 brake calipers which were really rusty and the rear ones appeared that they have never been bled. I twisted off the brake bleeder on the front passenger side but than drilled it out and used an easy out to remove the old bleeder. new tactic that worked really good is i used a small impact drill with a socket adapter and soaked the rest with penetrating oil and gave it a bit of heat from the torch and than used the light duty impact drill and it came out without a problem. just needs a bit of gentle agitation and loosens right up. maybe if i tried the first one the same way i wouldn't of had a problem.
Very cool your able to do a lot of those repairs. Here in the US, I own a 2002 Volvo V70 XC with 135K miles (original owner). Been doing a lot of maintenance in the 24 years I've had when I purchased it new. I know it needs a brakes, tires, etc. Love the comfort and ride.
Absolutely adore the headlight wipers, for some reason a lot of the models sold in aus didn’t come with them for whatever reason but my god I wish they did.. so so cute albeit super unnecessary
Amazing job, I also keep the same car in the family, the power steering reservoir is a pain in the ass… I have replaced it with an OEM one and still have problems, which seem to be very common in this model. About the handling take a look at those shocks and brake fluid! I also have the Bluetooth kit and works better than my 2016 Golf R connection 😂
Replace the ps reservoir with an 05+ all the way up to 09 P2 unit (as I’m sure you know s60 was make up until then and is the same) and the weeping will stop. I did this on our 02 as SwedeSpeed suggested. It was not difficult. Make sure you get a unit that looks dry and includes hoses.
8:01 I have the exact same model. Loved owning it for 14 years. Tomorrow I will have to say good buy😢 due to transmission damage while mechanic attempted to remove a CV Axle. Too costly to fix.
Better hope you never have the hardline compression nut loosen and leak for the power steering.its wedged between the rear engine mount and a bunch of stuff.it will dump your system dry and you have to pretty much jack the engine up and remove that bracket .i ground off the side of a crows foot and had a miracle occur but you gotta be extremely patient and accurate to pull that off.
Updating rear sway links and a better rear sway bar tighten the handling up a good bit, the stock rear sway bars are only a measly 14.5 mm thick from factory
I drive a 2003 2.5T turbo 245BHP XC70, and the handling is as good as any heavy car that I have driven, I would change the shocks and see how it handles then.
Not sure what Bluetooth system he got but if you want a quick fix to get Bluetooth, get a Bluetooth to fm transmitter. They’re around $20. Plugs into 12v socket, sync it to the same radio station and you got Bluetooth
Great vid!!! wondering if you were going to talk about stability on twisty country roads.... and there you go! I'm a happy Forester owner, looking for a non-SUV 4x4, hoping that an xc70 would have better reactions than the Subaru in that kind of roads..... but no😢😂Thanks for posting.!!!!!
Great video. You don't need new brake calipers however. Soak the bleed screws with penetrating fluid for at least 24 hours. Then when you remove them with a ring spanner, put a drill bit that is nice and tight into them to prevent them from collapsing. Also slightly loosen then tighten, then loosen, then tighten with more penetrating fluid as you go. Also a little bit of heat very carefully applied may be necessary. Watch out for the brake hoses!
Its kind of odd but having a couple of decades of company cars on a 3 year cycle I am free of that. I know you and other youtubers need content but for me approaching 3 years with a 10yo Dacia Ruster - sorry Duster its fine. Doing a 320 mile trip tomorrow but I have full confidence - basic low tech 90's Renault stuff so no traction control stability control and the ride is rougher than a Scenic but I'll take 50mpg all day
Hej! Don't know if anyone mentioned it before but the heated seats are adjustable. I had mine way to hot and had volvo vida and setted it up a couple degrees lower. so if you have the ability to visit someplace with a vida you can set it to you own likings! I have a xc90 of the same technique and I have also really liked it!
Don't know if anyone knows instead of messing about with a Bluetooth kit and loosing your cd changer. There's a aux in connection in the centre console
I have the 2014 version of this car and I agree the handling around bends is not great - even taking motorway curves at speed feels a little bit insecure - And I also think it's because of the raised suspension and the fact the the XC70 is really a standard V70 with AWD bolted on as an after-thought - Volvo's more 'pure', dedicated SUVs (XC40+XC60+XC90) all handle much better than the XC70 as does the FWD V70 - But, all that said it's a brilliant car in every other respect and we don't buy Volvos to be sporty - they excel in other ways!!! (IMHO )
What sort of fuel consumption do you have? I have a 2006 XC70 D5 and get around 32-33mpg in general running around. Best was 35-36 on a long motorway haul with a roof box
Well done Sion a great purchase and it’s a lovely car have always admired the Volvo estates such work horses and that one looks like a high spec when new Would a body shop be able to rejuvenate the paint to original colour? Enjoy driving her and look forward to next video! Daniel
Hmm it would be nice to get the original colour, but at the same time the car's not worth spending too much money on something so cosmetic. Would be good to get some professional advice of if it's even possible
I have an old (03) V70, my fourth and it has cost me a fortune in bits lately, so many bits it is almost a new car. Although its a bit battered through being a workhorse I still think it looks cool/classy compared to newer cars I've looked at with all of their flashy frills, bells and whistles.
One year update video? I am interested in buying a petrol XC70 from 2015-2016, (My location is Romania, so left side driving position) for maximum 15000 euros, looking for AWD/4x4, but as efficient of an engine i i can get for this vehicle. We are impressed with all the safety and off-road package this car brings, and it would work great for my first and only ICE vehicle, after the market stabilizes, i will also buy an electric vehicle. (i am sad with tesla removing features when they aren't ready for alternatives, and i am waiting for other manufacturers to make a similar vehicle to Tesla Model Y, but better fitted for Off-Road and for snow/ice, with active air suspension, and a respectable maximum ride height to protect the battery underneath.) (Loving the Volvo EX30, but way too small for me, and the EX 90 is way too expensive and inefficient, so i will wait for a longer EX30 , maybe EX60? similar air resistance and efficiency, but way better cargo space, bigger battery, and maybe 7 seats.)
Hello, New to the channel. Did you use genuine Volvo brake parts or aftermarket parts. Asking as I recently, purchased a XC70 D5 AWD SE 63 plate with 53K and Volvo want £570 for the front brake discs and pads. Actually, think I could attempt to change the discs and pads myself and even change the brake fluid.
Dude it Is a heavy vehicle, lifted from the ground quite a lot and you have 16" ofc It will be wobbly in the corners. Even my S60 2003 with 16" is wobbly and he is super low to the ground. That is normal for Volvo, they are not sport cars for cornering, they are long distance cruisers mate. Thats aswell why you find those bulletproof 2.4i petrol and in your case Disel engines, with or without turbine. Those cars are amazing and not so expensive to maintain, no electronical bullshit aswell. It gonna outlast any new car. I had few 2016+ cars and none of them was so reliable as the old Volvo and that is self proven fact.
It looks like you have the new front brake pads incorrectly fitted, that silver clip you see through the wheel should push into the calliper piston on the INNER side of the Calliper . Regarding the heated seats they are designed to take to cold out of the seat rather to heat them up well above ambient and feel hot. There are 3 heat levels you can select with the dealer diagnostic tools.
I promise you I haven’t put the pads the wrong way round: the inner pad has the clips for the piston as you say, which I’ve clicked firmly into place. But the outer pads on this set also comes with the slightly slimmer clips which are visible. I think these pads must fit a couple of different cars, one of which needs the extra clips on the outside
At 0:38 you have the inside brake pad on the outside. That part is supposed to be inside the brake piston. It probably is fine but not the way it should look.
I don’t, I promise. Both inner and outer pads in the kit had clips, the inner one is correctly in the piston. I’m guessing this kit is for multiple models, one of which has a fitting on the outer pad too.
You could tell you've been to The Netherlands with that Albert Heijn shopping bag in the boot 😂 The Mk2 V70/XC70 do drive like a barge, even with proper suspension parts. Though the quality of a Mk3 V70/XC70 is considerably lower, they have Ford Mondeo underpinnings which makes them very sharp in corners.
Sway bar ends need replacement. They handle well really

Just got myself a 2007 XC70 D5 and I will do some mods to it myself. Rearwindow wipermotor needs to be changed, does not work at all atm. ALso will use Swedish brand "dieselkraft" enginetuner and see if I can save some diesel with it. But the guy I got it from had basically changed everything and recently as well. it drives like brand new. Got the BT kit in it first thing though.
our xc70 handles really good on the road, and i beat the shit out of ours. take it around the corners hard ect. even kept up with some low powered bmw's maybe yours got a bad swaybar on top of everything you said. and the heated seats can be programmed for eu specs so they get hotter.
Glad another Volvo is doing its thing, I have a 2004 V50 and the heated seats are ferocious, I wonder if there is a little something wrong with the ones in the 70? Good to see a review of this car
@@MorselsAndMotors fab idea, my 18 yr old V50 was a hero this morning! 4 inches of snow in -4 degrees, started first time and was steady on the ice rink down hills on the untreated roads! My seat was also lovely and warm 🙂
I have a 2003 v70 t5 200,000 miles same exact factory color that green is either a factory mistake or a bit of algae it shouldn’t have any green tint great car though very reliable.
Its a shame they ceased production on such a lovely model. I had a 2004 one but the gearbox died. Then I got the newer version. No comparison. If it works dont fix it Mr Volvo. All is forgiven, bring back the older versions. They were superb. And please, Mr Ford, keep your hands off the Swedish technology and mind your own business and your rattley tin cans.
NIce update! Agree about heated seats: like a/c, they are not all created equal. In some cars, the heating elements are part of the seat cover, and can be replaced, if you can find the cover. In others, they are part of the cushion itself (which can also be changed). Hard to say if the questionable performance is due to age, or due to a weak design to begin with. About the suspension: did you try to do a “bump test”, to see if the suspension settles quickly? Wondering how to ascertain whether the shock absorber is faulty, or if the springs have weakened with all that rust. 🤔
Thanks, that's a good idea to do the bump test. I'm hoping I can adjust the base settings of the heated seats with access to the Volvo VIDA system to talk to the car
Would this be top of your list for estate cars from this period (15/20yrs old)? Happy to hear from anyone else who knows what they're talking about :-)
Have you exchanged brakes for bigger ones, say from XC90 or S80 II? I see many people doing that in this model and I was wondering how hard that could be.
These have aged so well I think and still look pretty modern now. The thing I like about Volvos and also Saabs is that they're sort of classless and there are generally no stereotypes attached to them.

The steering fluid leak is from the 2-piece reservoir. I upfraded to the later version from 2005 later models. Have to swap hose also.

Now onto a '14 plate xc90 which I love but in all honesty the package of the XC70 is far more drivable and parkable.
we yanks do not know what the "'57 plate" means, and by second gen u mean the P3 i assume?
@@18_rabbit '57 plate, means the latter half of 2007
I think these P2's (and especially the Euro 3 D5) are peak Volvo. In some ways even moreso than the legendary 2/7/900 series.
I agree with this statement on P2's. They seem to just go on and on and on. Mine has nearly 500,000 miles.
my V70 handles like a sport car compared to the old 240's and a W124 Mercedes I have had - those were barges!!!
My 2001 XC handles like a bathtub full of bowling balls
I have the same car. I swapped out the car stereo and replaced it with JL Audio Amp, Kenwood audio deck and all 4 door speakers of Focal. Will add a subwoofer soon. But, I will definitely need to replace the engine mounts and suspension. Other than that car runs like a charm!
The P2 Volvos are such incredibly unique modern cars. My father just replaced his 2001 V70 T5 which he snapped the cambelt on at 245k miles with another 2001 V70 T5 with only 70k! It's brilliant to experience such a lovely example of the species, though his new one has a lower spec stereo that doesn't sound quite as nice but at least plays my cassettes 😂
I daily a 2012 P3/EUCD XC70 with the Bridgend T6 and I completely know what you mean about the 'wallowyness' of this type of car; my XC70 also has a peculiar fidgeting over bumps that can upset the steering a bit which doesn't happen in either the older V70 or my mom's gen1 XC60, so I wonder if certain handling elements are compromised since the XC70 is a modification on the base V70 instead of a ground-up CUV, if you will.
Oh thank you for that advice. I will try doing the job one day, but I am not looking forward to it!
It's a great car
i'm very curious what parts u've worked on or replaced, or had shops do. Namely, transmission is my question.
Replace the ps reservoir with an 05+ all the way up to
09 P2 unit (as I’m sure you know s60 was make up until then and is the same) and the weeping will stop. I did this on our 02 as SwedeSpeed suggested. It was not difficult. Make sure you get a unit that looks dry and includes hoses.
I was going to say, one of my main complaints is the paint. Love the cassette deck, the cd player, and all that.
Curious to get how it goes now after 1+ year? Got a 2006 and did update pretty much what you did + suspensions. Running top notch!
Hold in the read button on the stalk and blip the rear fog lamp switch twice you get it right you will get the DFC driver fault codes
8:01 I have the exact same model. Loved owning it for 14 years. Tomorrow I will have to say good buy😢 due to transmission damage while mechanic attempted to remove a CV Axle. Too costly to fix.
The mechanic should pay for it
Better hope you never have the hardline compression nut loosen and leak for the power steering.its wedged between the rear engine mount and a bunch of stuff.it will dump your system dry and you have to pretty much jack the engine up and remove that bracket .i ground off the side of a crows foot and had a miracle occur but you gotta be extremely patient and accurate to pull that off.
Love it. I have exactly the same car. Where did you get the phone holder? And what Bluetooth system have you got?
Not sure what Bluetooth system he got but if you want a quick fix to get Bluetooth, get a Bluetooth to fm transmitter. They’re around $20. Plugs into 12v socket, sync it to the same radio station and you got Bluetooth
Nice update, looks like a good long term purchase. Keep the Astra, 340, Fiesta content coming please!
Will do!
Heated seats: you can program the heating level with VIDA. Maybe yours are set on a low percentage.
Great video, looks like you got a good one! Love the look of the P2s
Thank you, yeah I think I’ve lucked out!
You can increase the temperature setting of the heated seats with VIDA! The factory temp threshold is set very low.
Beautiful truck .
Thank you, that’s really helpful
Thanks for sharing!
Really wanted an XC70 but petrol + automatic ere not really available so I ended up with a Nisan X-trail :D
Don't know if anyone knows instead of messing about with a Bluetooth kit and loosing your cd changer. There's a aux in connection in the centre console
I believe seat heating speed and heat can be changed. Certainly by a Volvo dealer. All my 13 Volvos had brilliant, quick and hot seats. 😊
(IMHO )
Hi, great review, i was wondering what bluekit kit did you install, i have a similar 2005 D5 500000km
I have a 2005 XC90 that is the same color. Depends on the light whether it looks green or silver.
Exactly!
Great review. Even if itś some kind of dinosaur on swedish roads it still has class and style. Right served it will last a lifetime...
That is what I am hoping!
I did subscribe. Greetings from a Volvo owner, from Klagenfurt - Austria.
Thanks for the sub!
What sort of fuel consumption do you have? I have a 2006 XC70 D5 and get around 32-33mpg in general running around. Best was 35-36 on a long motorway haul with a roof box
Well done Sion a great purchase and it’s a lovely car have always admired the Volvo estates such work horses and that one looks like a high spec when new
Would a body shop be able to rejuvenate the paint to original colour?
Enjoy driving her and look forward to next video! Daniel
Hmm it would be nice to get the original colour, but at the same time the car's not worth spending too much money on something so cosmetic. Would be good to get some professional advice of if it's even possible
I have an old (03) V70, my fourth and it has cost me a fortune in bits lately, so many bits it is almost a new car. Although its a bit battered through being a workhorse I still think it looks cool/classy compared to newer cars I've looked at with all of their flashy frills, bells and whistles.
They are great cars aren't they!
@@MorselsAndMotorsAll the receipts and everyone I know says says i'm irrational, but I still like/prefer my trusty versatile old load lugger.
The instrument cluster has started to play up now so im thinking of upgrading the bulbs to blue leds so I can feel a bit more eccentric..cooowl.
(i am sad with tesla removing features when they aren't ready for alternatives, and i am waiting for other manufacturers to make a similar vehicle to Tesla Model Y, but better fitted for Off-Road and for snow/ice, with active air suspension, and a respectable maximum ride height to protect the battery underneath.)
(Loving the Volvo EX30, but way too small for me, and the EX 90 is way too expensive and inefficient, so i will wait for a longer EX30 , maybe EX60? similar air resistance and efficiency, but way better cargo space, bigger battery, and maybe 7 seats.)
Great car, as I have one, FOR LIFE😊
Hello, New to the channel.
I've bought the axact same XC70, but 2.4T from 2001.. but same color and interior. Oh.... and manual
My06xc70 got a polish & many admirers thought was new
It looks like you have the new front brake pads incorrectly fitted, that silver clip you see through the wheel should push into the calliper piston on the INNER side of the Calliper .
Hey, I love my V70 as well, can you please tagg me with this Bluetooth radio thingy that you are currently using, please.
Stay safe, Volvo for live !
It seems to be out of stock on Amazon at the moment, sadly. It's called BlueMusic
I want the Volvo styling and interior with Subaru symetrical AWD and handling and VW diesel engines 😂
Protect that lower air scoop for £10 by buying some mesh off E Bay, a stone hitting that rad can be very expensive😢
But well done😊
Got xc70 2006 living in Canada 4 inch lift off road tires the perfect tank
Excellent video!
You could tell you've been to The Netherlands with that Albert Heijn shopping bag in the boot 😂
The Mk2 V70/XC70 do drive like a barge, even with proper suspension parts. Though the quality of a Mk3 V70/XC70 is considerably lower, they have Ford Mondeo underpinnings which makes them very sharp in corners.
Thanks for the video! I love the XC70. Side question… what microphone do you use? Its excellent quality
The bluetooth kit is absolutely fantastic, and transforms the car to modern use with complete OEM usability
Hey. Which bluetooth kit you buy? I just bought an XC70 D5 too and I would like one (:

Great car, anti roll bar bushes will improve it, i bet it’s still got the original ones on.
Yes, I am sure you are right. Thank you, I will have a look
our xc70 handles really good on the road, and i beat the shit out of ours. take it around the corners hard ect. even kept up with some low powered bmw's maybe yours got a bad swaybar on top of everything you said. and the heated seats can be programmed for eu specs so they get hotter.
Thanks, I will definitely have a proper look at the suspension bushes and sway bars etc.
Great video, thanks ☺️
Glad another Volvo is doing its thing, I have a 2004 V50 and the heated seats are ferocious, I wonder if there is a little something wrong with the ones in the 70? Good to see a review of this car
I’m going to try connecting a computer to the car’s system to see if I can adjust the temperature of the seats
@@MorselsAndMotors fab idea, my 18 yr old V50 was a hero this morning! 4 inches of snow in -4 degrees, started first time and was steady on the ice rink down hills on the untreated roads! My seat was also lovely and warm 🙂

The log book says it’s green…
@@MorselsAndMotorsthat’s cool haven’t seen that before.
Its a shame they ceased production on such a lovely model. I had a 2004 one but the gearbox died. Then I got the newer version. No comparison. If it works dont fix it Mr Volvo. All is forgiven, bring back the older versions. They were superb. And please, Mr Ford, keep your hands off the Swedish technology and mind your own business and your rattley tin cans.
no longer mr Ford, but Mr China /ownership
Do you have a link to the phone holder used in this video?
Would this be top of your list for estate cars from this period (15/20yrs old)? Happy to hear from anyone else who knows what they're talking about :-)
Absolutely. It’s an excellent car
Have you exchanged brakes for bigger ones, say from XC90 or S80 II? I see many people doing that in this model and I was wondering how hard that could be.
Great update, look forward to further updates on the rest of your fleet.👍
can you fold back seats flat? with seats folded, what's the length of the boot?
