Hi, I'm an Indian research scholar carrying out my research on the triple marginalisation of Indian Dalit women and African American women, through an analysis of their Life Writings. This research calls for a scope to talk to actual individuals who belong to the communities I am working on. Listening to the first hand lived experiences and their take on the topic I have chosen are very crucial before submitting this study to the world of existing literature. Would you be interested to join me for a short interview of about ten to twelve questions related to my research, virtually? Looking forward to your response.
Ms. Johnson, Thank you so much for helping me hear. I have so much work to do. I promise you, I’ll do my work to the best of my ability. May you and family be blessed and never moved. Peace & Love, Liz

I feel this on a magnified level since I grew up in Africa. It’s a new feeling, hits me hard every time I encounter racism. It’s been 11yrs and it still feels new. It’s something I need to accept but men it’s a difficult truth!
I am very sorry to hear that. If there was one thing you could say, that the people that caused this pain and hardship would have to listen and reform to - what would it be?
It is important for us humans to perceive different perspectives and listen to those people that are different from us, hear their stories and problems, react with compassion and do our part, each and every single one of us. Look inside see how this makes you feel, see how the news make you feel, gather your own information don't just trust one source. "home is behind, the world ahead, there are many paths to tread, through shadow, to the edge of night, until the stars are all alight, mist and shadow, cloud and shade, all shall fade, all shall fade" - Pippin's Song Lord of The Rings Now I'm wondering if this song was inspired by Holiday
I LOVE Lord of the Rings, Tolkien is one of my absolute favorite authors, but that song is not about pain or oppression or horror. It is used in the film VERY differently from the way it was originally written in the book, where it was a song with lyrics written by Bilbo about returning from an adventure to a comfortable home and a warm bed. Holiday's performance of "Strange Fruit" definitely changed the world. But I think it's almost insulting to claim that it inspired a lighthearted song about hobbits going home, written by a white British man (in a book considered by many to have problematic depictions of race), and distracts from the power and message of HER music. The actual verse that was changed (there are three in the full song): Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. The world behind and home ahead, We'll wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! As an African American man, I found it very inappropriate. Why deliver this in the negative stereotype for a"Black woman"? To a mainstream audience. I wonder the purpose.
Because this message is one that needs to be pounded into our brains from all sides for some reason, you know, you have to divide people in order to get them to fight eachother.
@@jacozard I can see this was orchestrated by someone wanting to pander to the stereotypical obese African American woman wanting a platform to vent, at a time of civil chaos. Perfect timing 👌
@@juicystar07100 Which part gave birth to your "curious" question? I had more of a question too. But I know how people can pander to the plight of African Americans in America. I have definitely been feeling overoverwhelmed especially with my own Podcast called "Simply Nickie Podcast " on anchorfm, Spotify , Google and Apple Podcast. I talk about mental health awareness, self care and love journey, etc. Even I too get overwhelmed and your video made me feel heard and seen. Thank you for this
it stirs up emotions 😢
Sad truth, racism against all race needs to end.
Thank you for sharing your story! So important for our stories to be told and heard. I see you.
This is the straight truth if you don't like it than click off.
@Will Miller listen hon
Great Commentary Video Monica🌷
PREACH!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you, sista.
I would have liked for her to talk about how she was robbed of those opportunities and how her race was involved, just saying you're discriminated against despite being in a successful position.
Racism is alive in this country. It is in the DNA
@Will Miller your statement does reek of entitlement tho.
@Will Miller wasn't trying to prove anything. Just stating an observation. Although, pretty objective.
@@moumidas2116 "Reeks of entitlement" slow your high horse there man!
@@ericreingardt2504 I like the view from here. You're welcome as well, you'll like to too.
Poet Life hi! Can you please explain more in detail if you don’t mind, I’m curious. You seem to have good insight.
@@juicystar07100 Which part gave birth to your "curious" question? I had more of a question too. But I know how people can pander to the plight of African Americans in America. The play is overtly obvious; put on display a very obese Southern Back woman, and have her lamenting about " The Strange Fruit". To a mainstream audience, as America experiences racial uproar and a pandemic that directly impacts this subjagated people. Was the purpose, to pursue, inform or to entertain?
@@BlackLifeNYC well said my friend.
Of course the first people that make it to the video comment such nonsense. They don’t want to hear the truth. They don’t want to at least try to understand someone else’s pain. 👀❌

@INERT uh no. We have momentum so let's keep it going. This is the most appropriate content right now. Only thing I wanna see til there's tangible change.

Yeah IKR! 😏

@Adam O so you are willing to waste 20 years training on someone only working half the time?
Basic human decency might wish for a better world but Healthcare access (including for those even less likely to be insured in America), some workers protections and basic compassion are Utilitarian (and happen to reduce stupidity too).
It sucks getting blamed for all the bad that happened in the world before you were born.
This is getting ridiculous now
Yeah IKR! 🙄
Tell me about it
oh yeah? why?
Sofia Rossi Lena look up what Ideological Subversion is.
Sofia Rossi Lena how is this not getting out of hand all you see is this kind of stuff I mean it’s like WE GET IT
I see you're deleting comments you disagree with, so much for being a channel that encourages speech and facts.
Did the comments have something in common?
You are younger than me, slavery has been over since Lincoln was president. That woman wasn’t a mammy, she was a nanny and paid for her services. It may not have been a great job, but it was her job. My grandmother worked in a factory and took in other people’s laundry as a second job. I’ don’t want to devalue your experience, but I want to express that you and your family’s story is one of MANY!
“I don’t want to devalue your story” … proceeds to devalue her story by implying her experiences is not as bad as everyone else. Girl bye
These comments make me lose faith in humanity
Why too real for you!?! 🙄

Powerful words of Truth
as long as you see yourself as a victim you will never move forward.
Say that to the man who was stopped because of his colour. Oh wait, you can't. He's probably dead.
@@moumidas2116 Well show us your evidence that this " man " was stopped because of his skin colour
@@rosegirl5019 Do your own research. Educate yourself. Spoonfeeding doesn't go a long way.
@@moumidas2116 neither does running away from a statement after being asked to clarify it. Just throw them a bone, man. Keep the conversation flowing and help the readers understand the different views! Don't leave us hanging..
Even if you really are a victim, it doesn't pay to see yourself that way. There is plenty of psychological research that shows if you think you are just a victim of circumstances, you will do worse in life. If your think your destiny is in your hands, you will do better.
You are an increadible example for all women in the world. In my family, we all call my grandma "mammy" becuase her siblings always do. I didn't know the real meaning of this word. Thanks for making this world a better one. ❤
Truth
Race will always be talked about. Even if everyone was a millionaire there will still be people who need to find a problem
Race and money are not the same topic. There will always be people who think they are better than someone bc of race or culture. Let’s not act like even among the rich there is racism.
@@DoWhatsRight214 You sound like the professional victim.. Get a job..

This Needs to stop, IMMEDIATELY. My Parents taught me to Love all people no matter the race. I stand with you, Signed Petitions. My deepest, deepest apologies for everyone that experienced racism. beatiful storytelling and singing talent, voice ripe with truth. thank you.
I like to keep things simple, everyone should have the same opportunity towards equality and law. It is important for us humans to perceive different perspectives and listen to those people that are different from us, hear their stories and problems, react with compassion and do our part, each and every single one of us. Look inside see how this makes you feel, see how the news makes you feel, gather your own information don't just trust one source.
