The last couple times your son has caught a bass the the change in your voice, the elation that you can hear in your voice almost makes me tear up because it reminds me of my son when he was that age catching fish. Hes now 16 and we fish together in tournaments and it is awesome to teach them when they are young and watch them grow up loving to fish. Keep it up man you can not replace those moments.

Just found you and a fan already just by watching you with your son. I've been taking my kids from an early age out. My son is 20 now and doesnt have as much time w/ college and all, but I still have my daughter who is 12 and loves to go. I have more fun watching her catch em than catchin them myself. Keep it up, he will remember these times for ever, promise.

I bought like 8 packs of heads 3/16 and every different color of the smh worm. I absolutely love it. I did lose a 5lb smallmouth at table rock but it wasn't a tournament so no harm no foul. Great bait brother.
I was just on Hartwell this weekend, usually where I fish. Working points and shallows with no luck, but man it was a beautiful day. Thanks for all the tips. Dig your videos.

There is a picture of me on my parent's wall of me, about that age, with a snoopy pole and a chonk of a bluegill.
A few years later dad and I were night fishing with worms and finesse jigs.. and the blacklight fluorescent line was just the coolest thing ever. Then we dialed in the topwatee bite. They got an old houseboat and we fixed it up and I spent probably 15% of my childhood at the lake with my family. Heck, made my own youngun on that boat back in 2005.
Crazy how one little moment in a video can hit you with a sledgehammer of memories.
I love teaching my sons how to fish, theres nothing in the world like the bond between a father and son. My 5 year old has been fishing with me for 2 or 3 years now and my 2 year old is really getting into it this year, went and bought him his first rod this year. The excitement on their faces when any of us catch a fish is priceless. Enjoy it while they're young bro, time flys.
Hey Brian, my girlfriend and I met you at the Classic and on our way home back to Ohio we both felt that you really are such a genuine person. What you see is what you get and that is rare these days. You really do have one of the best shows on RUclips. But in this video you were reeling in your son's little outfit and of course it takes forever. You even mentioned how you wish "they" made a better gear ratio for kids reels. Shannon said, he has a deal with Favorite Fishing, he should make one. That got me thinking, there aren't any good rod / reels out there for kids. So if you'd design something I bet every bass fisherman who had kids would get a few! I mean look at what we spend for ourselves. Think we wouldn't set our kids up. Give it some thought. I love the videos of you fishing with your boys. Some of the best memories of my life are from fishing trips with my kids. I still remember their first ever catches. I wouldn’t take anything for those memories.

It's great to watch father/son moments (16:55). I loved that the son actually fed on the father's excitement. He was thrilled to have done something that excited his father. Maybe the best moment was when his dad tells him, "Good job!" and his son replies, "thank you" (18:20)

Great information, Brian. Water is finally getting warm enough to get them up on the banks (63 degrees) and caught 25 Sunday afternoon on our 200 acre private lake ranging up to 5 pounds for the 2 biggest ones. Had a lot of 2 pounders with green pumpkin worm and 1/4 ounce shaky head.

I picked up both the plastic and the jig and I know this is a simple system but I love it! Why, because its simple and it catches fish. Also this jighead worked great around rock and rip rap.

I may do the Tournament you are talking about. I live in Ohio so the bass aren't huge but I know a lake with 3-5 lbs galore.
Appreciate the shaky head advice. The only worm I usually use is a Senko. I would probably be using a Ned red crawfish a situation you were showing us this but I guarantee you they would both work.
