This is a Deep Purple song written by Ritchie Blackmore and David Coverdale as I'm sure everyone already knows. I think like both Singers a lot. David is more bluesy and Ronnie gives it an operatic aesthetic. Blackmore's solo here isn't one of his better ones. Feels really good inside when I see people experiencing Dio like I did so long ago. Loved Dio growing up and still do. Like you said you could listen to anything with him singing it and he brings so much more than just great sound he brings emotion and feeling. The bands today I just feel like they are just literally making a bunch of noise to make money. They all sound the same. Like they are all being handed the same script of the sounds for the month. I have only been forced recently to listening to the radio and it drives me nuts....soon to be listening to my 70s,80s metal again.
DIO was and is still one of my favorite vocalists of all time. Too many songs of his to react to, so hard to think of one or two. If you haven't already, try some songs from the Scorpions too. Klaus is an amazing vocalist as well.
He grew up in a house where Mario Lanza was played a lot. I love watching Ronnie James Dio he really tells the story and yes I feel the operatic element. But he can sing well in many different styles. Love him ❤️
As a fan of RJD, you should check out a young band, Liliac. RJD was a huge influence of the singer, Melody Cristea. At 17 years old, she's belting out covers of Dio. Even Vinnie Appice nicknamed her MeloDio and invite her to sing with his band Sabbath Nights. Her voice is incredible, so worth a listen!
Rainbow was absolutely at their peak during the RISING album!! Ronnie was the Godfather of Voice for hard rock and Heavy Metal! Please check out his time with Black Sabbath following this. Mob Rules is some of his finiest work!
For me personally, it's like listening to a story, which might not be the greatest story I've ever heard or read, but the way it is told is just amazing. For me, it is an example that what is important the most is not ""what", but ""how". another thing that I'd like to mention is my personal theory that this particular song is a response of Ritchie to a Led Zeppelin song "Since I've Been Loving You". I'm convinced that deep down he wanted to write a bluesy song like that with some more punch in it and that is what Mistreated is. It is like: you did great, can I do better? because the theme is basically the same. Musical setup - minor blues. And at the end, it is not about who is better, but they push each other to be great. And R. J. Dio ? is untouchable among the rock singers.
He literally sang a song about a sandwich and it’s great. Evil on Queen Street from the Lock up the Wolves album was inspired by a deli sandwich of the same name that he ate while on Queen Street in Toronto. I also live one minute away from this street oddly enough LOL
as I remember it, his song training comes from learning play the trumpet from early years. According to him, he learn to breath, and sing from the abdomen. According to some sources (him) he never cancelled a show, and never warmed up. Just out and sung.
New sub, just found your channel and love it! If you really want to go down the Dio rabbit hole check out the stuff that he did with Black Sabbath (anything from Heaven and Hell or Mob Rules albums). Thank you for appreciating talent from a fantastic age of music!
should definitely check out Dio's later work with black Sabbath and heaven and hell, as well as his solo work, the song Bible Black with heaven and hell was recorded shortly before he died and even then he still had amazing energy and was just as good as he ever was
I love the original version by Coverdale which was more bluesy. This version is operatic and different but Dio has absolutely captured the essence of the song. I like both versions equally TBH. In a bizarre way, it's similar to the way he replaced Ozzy Osbourne in black Sabbath who definitely had a blues voice and Dio simply set his own mark on both albums he released without trying to copy Ozzy in any way.
This is what music is all about! Everybody brought exactly what was necessary for the song... This was a music MASTERCLASS!

Richie used the tape for his Echo. He still does. Like you said we have boxes that emulate the tape echo, but Richie still loves his tape echo.
Live in Fukuoka...Stargazer!!!!!
Excellent reaction and explanation. I very much enjoyed this and couldn't agree more with your opinions!
Thanks Jeff, consider sharing the video around, it helps the channel out so much! And of course, subscribe if you haven't already
DIO was and is still one of my favorite vocalists of all time. Too many songs of his to react to, so hard to think of one or two.
If you haven't already, try some songs from the Scorpions too. Klaus is an amazing vocalist as well.
Have this, and Rainbow-On Stage. Young Dio killing it.
There was also a unit called an Ecoplex in which it used a tape to speed up or slow down the repeat
I personally think Ronnie James Dio sings this better than Coverdale. Dio's voice is so powerful.
One another great song from Rainbow is the live version of "Still I'm sad" great vocals from Dio too. It from the On Stage album from 1977 👍🤘😁
There are about 40 live concerts from this line up on Yt.....search them out....Fukuoka is my current favourite...Stargazer is to die for!!
you realy feel rock in this song man, congratulations great reaction
welcome to the Master and Ruler of them all Ronnie James Dio was lucky enough to meet both him n Lemmy like 11 times over 30 years
He grew up in a house where Mario Lanza was played a lot. I love watching Ronnie James Dio he really tells the story and yes I feel the operatic element. But he can sing well in many different styles. Love him ❤️
Reactions are great to learn different perspectives. Keep it up.
Another vocal critique/coach mentioned he use to play the trumpet and that would help him with his singing.
Rainbow was absolutely at their peak during the RISING album!! Ronnie was the Godfather of Voice for hard rock and Heavy Metal! Please check out his time with Black Sabbath following this. Mob Rules is some of his finiest work!
Heaven and hell live!!
Blackmore is on fire! This whole band is on fire!
The Tapemachine was used for the delay effect for the guitar sound.
He literally sang a song about a sandwich and it’s great. Evil on Queen Street from the Lock up the Wolves album was inspired by a deli sandwich of the same name that he ate while on Queen Street in Toronto. I also live one minute away from this street oddly enough LOL
Rainbow were best hard rock band easily.
Oohhh Ronnie is THE VOICE of heavy metal , He is the great
Incredible performance. Rainbow at the top of their game. Blackmore used the tape machine for delay effects.
the best vocal heavy metal music
as I remember it, his song training comes from learning play the trumpet from early years. According to him, he learn to breath, and sing from the abdomen. According to some sources (him) he never cancelled a show, and never warmed up. Just out and sung.
The tapemachine was often use to get a really nice "echosound".
New sub, just found your channel and love it! If you really want to go down the Dio rabbit hole check out the stuff that he did with Black Sabbath (anything from Heaven and Hell or Mob Rules albums). Thank you for appreciating talent from a fantastic age of music!
should definitely check out Dio's later work with black Sabbath and heaven and hell, as well as his solo work, the song Bible Black with heaven and hell was recorded shortly before he died and even then he still had amazing energy and was just as good as he ever was
2009 Wacken concert footage is a good one to check out for the "Bible Black" song.
MORE DIO!
DIO FOREVER!! 🤘🏻🔥❤️
What a performance!
Dio is the Greatest vocalist of all time but David Coverdale and Richard Blackmore wrote this song and performed it it is amazing... Just Saying 😎
@@z1az285 I feel the same but Dio did a nice job... Take care
Gotta watch Deep Purple Child in Time live 1970…more utterly epic.
My favorite Deep Purple song.
great choice, def one of the best from him
Amazing in every way! The whole band is amazing, but Dio is just out of this world
I love Ronnie James Dio more than anything in the whole world
