Me too from Ardabil. Unfortunately we never have had opportunity to learn our language. There are so many city, mountain and river names have changed to farsi or persianised. I was told Kendovan means "like kandoo" in Farsi but "kend ovan" Turkish is make more sense.

At least have 90% similarities/cognates or mutually intellegible azerbaijani and other turkish dialect that farest with azerbaijani. Because actually azerbaijani can called as dialect but with different spectrum/continum, in same/one language its turkish. Not even other language. Azerbaijan used to part of iran up until around 1800. Then the russo persian wars happened and it got split up into pieces. we have more azeris then azeris do in Azerbaijan. Search up Gulistan treaty

well azerbaijan was the pert of Iran for centuries ,after the Russo-Persian war it split up into picies -north azerbaijan and south azerbaijan,we have 3 times more azeris in iran than in azerbaijan-(baku republic),for further info search for turkmenchay treaty and gulistan treaty
Azerbaijan was captured by the Russians from the Qajar Empire, which was also Azerbaijani Turkic. Then the Qajars were overthrown and today's aIran was created in 1935.
