    The (newish) T-Touch Connected Solar by Tissot is a unique hybrid watch that is my new favorite and daily driver. It's fast, responsive, feature rich, and nice to look at. It offers a fine combination of features that those not wanting the excess of an Apple Watch but want a more premium (Titanium and Saphire) Casio. We feel, the ScanWatch should take a page out of Tissot's book! ;)

    In this review we do a light comparison against the older model to see what has changed and what's been updated. All in, the new Connected Solar is the best of the T-Touch watches that you can buy and a fantastic watch on its own.
    While the price tag may be a turn off for some people, it's a fraction of the price compared to Breitling and Omega alternatives.

    Great review. I like the fact that it has decent battery life and doesn't have to be tethered to your phone all the time.

      I don't worry about it being the first version. As it keeps getting updates of their self developed firmware.
      Most of the hardware has already proven itself during the 23 years of T-Touch existence.

    I like that the Connected Solar has a seconds hand. I also like that both watches have a silicone band (not rubber). Whenever I purchase a watch I remove the metal or rubber band and order a silicone from Esslinger. I have a Solar Connected on order and good to know I won’t have to change the band. Thanks for sharing.

    Fully agree with the best balance between watches and smartwatches.
    All other brands have clearly gone over the top in features which most will never or hardly use.
    Not to forget the ever annoying charging and activating screens and readability.
    Love the stealthy call notifications and rejecting mode. No more unnecessary distractions by phones.
    Having owned all T-Touch versions 24/7 since 1999.
    I can clearly confirm that they do justify their price. And haven't had a scratch on the any of the screens.
    Though I do advise to get the titanium case and strap version. As I used them on average 5-6 years. They keep looking great and I doubt that silicone straps would even last that long.
    Coloured casing never convinced me that they will hold colours. And if a clear casing really gets scratched. They can still be polished.
    As a smartwatch it is also noticeable that Tissot has developed their own firmware. So is independent on other companies.

    • @ComputerStuff
      @ComputerStuff  2 года назад

      Great comment, thanks. Yeah I like the Tissot "dared" to be different and did their own thing. It's refreshing.

    • @henriwolbrink

      @@ComputerStuff Looking deeper into the functionalities of this watch just got me more exited of all the possibilities Tissot could add. I'm trying to reach out to them and hope to extend their to-do list. And hope their superiors will allow them to realise these additions to their app.
      They just released v2.0. But I see so much other options.
      And as you said. Operating is so quick and intuitive.
      For instance adding a trigger mode for let's say Google Home or IFTTT would open the world to unlimited possibilities.
      I'd dream to be able and leave my phone when taking some tech off time on a terras or a beach. And just return to my car. Activate a trigger to my phone which can open my car.
      No more phone or keys to bury in the sand!
      Or simply open a garage door without having to go through a whole app. Or having an additional remote.
      Triggers would be the best addition to smartwatches.

      I feel the same re colours like when they get scratched it would look horrible underneath and I always prefer metal straps. The cost of it is high and a lot of people how have it have cussed it out re connectivity etc though.

    One important drawback: the wake-up sound is almost inaudible: not loud enough to wake-up you in the morning. I return the watch to Tissot to fix the issue and they told me that the sound level was OK. Unacceptable at this price level. They should fix this issue.

    • @ComputerStuff
      @ComputerStuff  3 года назад +5

      Wake up sound? Are you referring to the alarms? Bizarre, mind is LOUD. Wakes my wife and I up in the morning no problem. Not to mention the vibrations against my side table.

      It has always been an overrated feature for many users. You just can't ignore the fact that we never really know where our hands are when we sleep...
      Try placing it in a glass on your night desk. And you'll surely notice the difference.

    • @alain3164

      @@henriwolbrink For sure, using a glass is a nice idea. I would do that with a $300 watch, not with a $1500 watch. I simply return it and obtain a refund. They will correct the issue with the next iteration.

      If for any reason, it doesn't run Android. I still like my watches to be stand alone things and not need constant charging and tethering. Now this is obviously a personal preference but the Tissot has superior battery life, doesn't have to rely on your smart phone, and is just an all around fantastic "watch". The Tag is going to be more than just a "watch" which some people may like, but it's not for me.
