Just to be clear: this watch is not a smart watch, it is a tool watch with some functions of a smart watch.
This is a deliberate choice by Tissot, and I think they are right: smartwhatches, technologically speaking, have a short life because they are contnuosly beeing implemented...they are essentially wrist computers and as every computer they become obsolescent in no time.
Tissot, on the other hand, wanted to make a watch that could stand the test of time and I think they succeded.
I agree with you. I had the original T-Touch and got rid of it because I stopped wearing it when I got an Apple watch. After a couple of those the cool factor has definitely run out. It did do a lot of "cool" but non watch things I don't really need. I could do everything from open and close my garage door to answer the doorbell and control the house heat and lights. What I really wanted it to do beyond all of those things was first be a watch. After the last update it barely makes it through a day on a charge. The unecessary updates that kill battery life stupid, and needles UI changes, I'm done and back to Tissot. A watch that primarily functions first as a watch.
The packaging definitely pales in comparison to the original T-Touch. Non moving bezel, (edit you can calibrate the hands), and the plastic back are arguably steps backwards. I know that's for the induction charging but a watch this price they could have gone ceramic, glass, or something other than plastic. That was probably not just for cost but servicability. Overall though I'm still happy. Basic notifications, better stopwatch, a timer, and better alarms are definitely upgrades from the original T-Touch.
@@racylaserjet how do you calibrate the hands so it’s lined up?
I have this watch - black band and orange numbers and bezel. It is brilliant, wears really light and comfortable and rarely needs charging. The solar charge is more than enough and lasts for ages. Well done Tissot great watch!
Brilliant review!!
I have this watch and an apple iwatch. I see my Tissot as a Rolex of smart watches and feel good when I have it on. Just my opinion.
Perfectly said
Thanks man! I ordered the Jungfrau edition and I’m really excited!
I just received this watch as a birthday present. I will admit it really does bug me how the minute hand is slightly off. Apart from that I absolutely love this piece. I wanted a hybrid smart watch, not a glorified Apple watch that I have to recharge ever night. Your review of this piece on YT I like the best. I watched the other creators reviews for this piece and I like your demeanor better than other reviews I have watched, so I thank you.
That would annoy me too. The watch from this vid seems pretty ok , the minute hand points ‘straight’ on point. Can’t you sent in back and get a new one? You might just have bad luck?
I received this watch earlier this week. It seems to be exactly what I was looking for - love it. After three days, the battery level hasn’t dipped. One thing, I’m having a hard time calibrating the compass. Keep getting an error. Got the compass to work!!!!!!
Nice review. I've had one for a while because I wanted a smartwatch, but also wanted a titanium swiss watch with an actual movement, so I'm pretty happy with it.
I have a Tissot T-Touch Expert Solar Blue (as shown 16:45) since it came out, and have not regretted my purchase for a second.
Simpler than the latest version, but much more beautiful and classy.
And yes, it is expensive, but I have enjoyed it for years, not only in everyday use, but also during my hikes.
Does the compass bezel rotate?
I want one!!! Thanks for the review.
Great review. 👍 My father bought right when it came out the Tissot touch in '99. The funny thing is that the sellers didn't know it had touch ability. So he had to show them. 😁 Also first time I had opportunity to try a titanium watch.
Just purchased! Think I will love it. I am fussy. Hate most watches, but found a way to buy this....I can return to AMazon if I dont like it. I bought this color as I love the bronze and black strap!
Have the blue T-Touch Solar full Titanium now and planning to go for Connect.
It ticks all of the boxes of what I want.
And hopefully my requests for improvements will be taken serious in a future update.
Strap extension is great for use on motorbike.
Straps of my metal ones (T-Touch, Expert-1, Expert-2, Solar) were all only adjusted once.
I don't expect any problems with pin. Just a matter of remembering one figure like a square, cross, circle or davidstar.
But what I really like is prioritising of battery life over features.
And the never ending impressions at meetings or in bars. And this has always been so during their 5-6 years usages 24/7.
I used all of it's functionalities and never had need of all fitness functions of so called smart watches. They would just make me feel worried all the time. Yes, the step counter is also in my phone, but less accurate and phone needs to be charged as well. So if both phones and smartwatches needs to be charged nearly daily. What value do the step counters really have?
Neither felt the need to talk to a watch or make pictures. Hey, I don't even like to speak to answering machines.
It's in fact ideal for business travellers. But also field service engineers.
I do also like G-Shocks but they are better for other 'tough' user.
Nice detailed review. Thinking of upgrading from my ProTrek PRT-B50 to this. My main concern is size, but I think they are similar (I have skinny wrists).
Also, would you say the step counter is fairly accurate (the ProTrek is terrible)?
And, can you select what you have on your display or does it have to be the date?
Thanks!
hi @MavrickWatchReview , thank you for your precise review , My father has an older version of this watch and since i was a kid i realy wanted one but when i found out about the hands not being synchronised i was bumped , i wanted to ask if the hand are good now or not ?
Thank you
Mega, Super!!!❤️
Re, the alignment problem, I have the old T-Touch II Titanium and the Synchro is a manual procedure and it works. Why you do not have the manual Synchro option on this later version is a bit curious.
Very nice review as always! Any chance you can review the Seiko spb143?
It's a really beautiful watch. Aside from the positioning problem, I really love the movement of the hands. I don't need to watch that connects to my phone or any of the other supposedly smart features. I think I would, rather they get rid of that, and simply devote the whole dial to solar charging.
I just replaced my T-Touch Expert Solar (which I really liked) with this watch, and it's definitely a major step forward. Having a seconds hand was something I missed on the old watch. The hands on mine align exactly, so if they don't you should get it replaced or adjusted (maybe there's a technician's menu available via an unlikely button combination).
My only minor gripe is that it's bigger than the Expert Solar and the bracelet barely fits my tiny wrists - but there are various straps available instead.
I dig it. I think I'd go for a Garmin Fenix. Yeah, it may not be Swiss made or have a nice bracelet, but it's loaded with way more features and is tough as hell
How about Swiss precision. By the way - you also got issues with solar charging your watch ? or connection to your smartphone ?
i bought one, waiting for delivery. i got the red strap one ,amazing look
At $1100, I'd try getting it replaced to fix the hands issue. Also, it's a shame that the movement itself is 42mm, which means you'll never see a version of this watch that's moderately sized. Props to them for keeping the lug to lug reasonable but 15mm thickness is hard to hide. Thanks for the review!
Love the look of the dial. Garmin fenix 6 is my go to activity watch for now. Tissot should ditch the dive extension for an on the fly adjust.
I got the Jungfrau version of the T-Touch Connect Solar with the rubber strap - I've loved it so far. The mobile app that enables the "smart" stuff, however, has some issues. I never got it working on my old phone, but through some confusing pairing steps, a secondary phone connected after 15 minutes of attempts. Too bad about your hands not aligning - that's my biggest fear with any watch. Mine have thankfully been good and aligned from the start.
Just received my watch from Jared. Used their website for my purchase. I am having a hard time getting it out of its' display demo mode. I cannot get it out of the demo mode no matter how long I depress and hold the crown. Any suggestions?
Hi there!
Thx for the review, does anyone know if we can set silent alarm on this watch?
I had my hands on a Tissot T-Touch a while ago and it was super nice! But it is pricey... Worth it... but pricey...
Can it be set to get exact time, i.e. like a radio controlled watch?
Yes, at 11:24, you have the same issue I had on mine. For me, the second hand was out of alignment. I returned it, got another one and it was the same and so I returned that too and got a top of the range Garmin instead. For a Swiss watchmaker, there shouldn't be any issues with hand alignment. I tried using the hand calibration function but it was just the same afterwards and so it is a manufacturing issue. I had several conversations with Customer Services, in the UK, to open a few boxes and only send me a replacement if the hands were in alignment - they couldn't find one!
I was contemplating buying this watch, as I'm currently using another cheaper hybrid that unfortunately isn't as good as I expected. Your comment made me sad :( How can such an issue exist on a thousand dollar watch? It's unacceptable.
Great review! Your review helped ,e in deciding to help this watch. I first checked the alignemnet of the hands and it was good. Sometimes the watch has the hands "not in line" but it seems to reset itself. The firmwar updates come out regurlat and Tissot support is also OK.
To buy this watch.
How do you update the firmware?
It is technically not a diver’s extension.
When you go hiking/ trekking and you need the ABC functions, you can strap this watch over your sleeve, so it is always visible.
just moved to this watch. realised I didn't need a smartwatch with HR,O2,ECG, etc. as they are largely inaccurate for medical purposes. This watch is beautiful and the pictures/videos don't really convey that. The watch hands were perfectly aligned btw. I've been wearing it for a week now and the battery is still at 100%. I still use my Garmin Fenix 6X for sports but the Tissot is pretty much on my wrist 24/7.
Wish it had sleep tracking but that's not a biggy.
The lume works brilliantly.
Picked on up today to use as a daily wearer. Excellent build quality and the hands line up perfectly with the markers on my example. Went for the bare titanium on black rubber strap! Super comfortable on the wrist!
Can this watch find my phone?
@@musclerambo1 Yes. Latest software update 2.0 let's you find watch or phone.
Great review!! is possible change language to italian ?
Having a terrible time with this watch just bought it and cannot connect it to the app cannot get the compass to work correctly which was the main feature that I was looking for in this watch etc etc. Someone needs to figure out what is going on with this watch. I will be returning it shortly if I cannot get it to run properly.
Cool very nice, but for the price we can get the red one it’s about 995€ more interesting for the same model
im missing the connection to the smartphone and some skills from the APP !
I wonder how it can be 47mm lug to lug...
I just bought one of these and I am super disappointed to find out that the app that connects with your smartphone is almost completely useless. I haven't been able to successfully connect and apparently this is the complaint that everyone has. Sure wish they would fix this issue.
I agree and disagree. Had mine now over a week. The app works just fine for me - never a problem with it. But, the app is useless. I have really no use for it. That said, I do love the watch!!!
how to set the time?
The hands alignment is a bummer.
I owned the previous version for a while.
You could align the hands on that one.
Hell, I can adjust the hands on my Seiko Arnie, and that watch is half the price of this one…
Any way to connect it to a golf app to get distances to green? Thanks
Please any one confirm to me :- is the backlight have full auto function like Casio ? I mean when you turn on the watch to your face dose it light up automatically ? or only when I press the crown ? or when I press the middle touch area ? I cant find answer at any review or even the manual
I’ve seen nothing that supports this watch wakes up when you bring it up check the time/date. You have to press any of the three buttons.
Yes correct - no auto light
The watch has auto brightness already programmed and will adjust to being brighter to account for daylight when worn. But at night - you need to press any of the side buttons or the dial to activate the back light. The superluminova light system is very good but does need a good feed of natural light to glow. In the dark I find it is more than enough to read the time. Hope this helps
nice watch but I'm like ocd and the hands would drive me nuts by being of a hair width
The Tissot T-Touch ii is one of my fave watch designs, but it's hard to beat the G-Shocks value-wise. The GST-B400 to me loosely resembles the T-Touch in design, has solar and Bluetooth, no sensor functions though. But it is shock resistant, 200m water resistant, has carbon fiber in the case, and is way, way cheaper...
Can a G-Shock receive phone notifications?
@@musclerambo1 Yes. On official site you can download manual which includes a section with software updates and changes.
My brother in-law has the G-Shock Fitness Smart Watch. He and his father have always used Casio G-Shocks so he loves it. He is a big boy in comparison to me, the Tissot is a much lighter piece and in general more like an analog watch.
What is the solar part? Does it charge your watch???
It sure does.
I just received mine today and the box does not include any charger! In fact, the box is different than the one presented in this video...Any ideas as to what is going on?
Can it "find my phone"??
Fake 🤣
That doesn't seem like the genuine article to me. I would be taking it back if it is in a different presentation to the video. A genuine version does have a charger always.
I was hoping to get to see how easy (or complicated) it is to adjust 2x a year to the daylight saving time. With my Tissot Touch (2010) it takes me every time 2 hours to find out how to do it. Almost all manuals have complicated or even incomplete directions to do so.
Not sure if it's automatic now. As it's now connected to your phone.
But most likely yes then.
Hi Bob
You can set 2 time zones with this watch which I think is better than adjusting your current time zone twice a year, because you will only have to do it once, then you just select the 1 of the 2 time zone on the watch which is current to your location accordingly. It's very simple to use as well.
too bad that the alarm was so quiet. Not loud enough to wake you up in the morning. They should correct this issue in the next iteration.
Nice review. I noticed the base of the second hand imposes on the graphical display part, so the top of the first line of text appears cropped off slightly. You didnt mention this in your review, so was this just a camera position thing making it look worse?
Don't blame you for being bugged by the hands alignment being off. That would bug me too. Once you notice it it can't be unseen. And the size of the watch is just too much too. It seems way bigger than earlier T-Touch models, even as much as twice the volume? This definitely feels like a first gen/prototype. Hope they stick with it though.
Swatch praising themselves for investing 30 million on development really puts the Apple Watch into perspective. Apple spent this amount developing each individual feature! The biggest downfall for me (with Apple Watch) is battery life. How is the battery life on this T-Touch? Is the solar enough to power everything by itself? Mighty impressive if it is. And how fast is the comms with a smartphone - is it instant like the Apple Watch or does the ultra low power internals show through?
I own this Tissot model, but mine has the red band instead of the titanium one. I've received plenty of compliments on this watch, something that I've never received when wearing any other smart watch, including the we-all-have-it iWatch. In my opinion it looks and wears way better on the rubber strap. I can tell you that this watch receives notifications within a second from your phone. The always-on time and date, and the solar feature are a plus for me. I have used this watch every day, non stop x 3 months and still shows full battery. My 3 complaints are the absence of heart rate monitor, gps, and the non compatibility with Google fit.
This watch will have it difficult. So for half the price you can get exactly everything (+ a full solar battery) with the Gshoks
But the gshock is not a Swiss watch. I agree it’s a good watch but I would hope the Tissot is built better since it does cost a lot more
Can a G-Shock receive phone notifications?
I don't agree with you.
They are great watches. Probably one of the best quality and innovation wise for value.
And I noticed several times that it also gives you more status.
No business manager (or girl) gets impressed by a G-Shock.
But a Tissot definitely gives you a higher status.
I have looked at both. But every time ended up in buying another Tissot.
Everybody is free to choose. But my buck goes to Tissot.
It really depends which G-Shock you want. There are G-Shocks models that cost 3-4 times more than this Tissot model. I personally prefer a Swiss watch because how they look and the G-Shock is a bit too heavy and cumbersome for my liking.
Once you highlighted the minute hand that was a deal breaker ... such a shame 😕😕😕
1100 dollars and a plastic back 💔
@Johnny Rebellion wireless charging is pretty much useless on a watch that retains charge for 6 months. They should have put a metal back and a plug for charging. It's a bad decision however you look at it.
My very old T Touch's push button came out. Tissot made me sign a disclaimer to have it replaced if they're unable to fix it for free!
Does it vibrate on incoming call?
Sure does.
Yes, and you can select answer or reject from watch screen.
Great when using Bluetooth speaker or likewise.
And also gives a clear message that you don't want to be disturbed.
In a meeting it's great to be able and receive a gentle notification without being noticed. Just vibrate on watch.
Does the compass bezel rotate?
Nope, the antenna is under the bezel what I know ;)
@@BlackWipeout Solar cells.
one video how calibrate the compas or gps
There is no GPS. And what do you mean by calibrating GPS?
Does it tick? Audibly, I mean!
Yeah
A divers extension with a 100 m and non screw down crown ? Sorry it's a joke of a watch ! Nice review as always !
It is technically not a diver’s extension.
When you go hiking/ trekking and you need the ABC functions, you can strap this watch over your sleeve, so it is always visible.
I like that watch but I don't know if I $1100.00 like it. I'd love it for $500.00.
Yeah, I think garmin fenix has it beat, and tends to go on sale for a lot less
I like the idea of smartwatch features on a mechanical watch. But the price is steep. I would love to get one of these on holiday deals or just AD discounts. At $450-$600 if I had the choice of Apple Watch or Tissot , I would definitely take the Tissot.
Can I use the chronograph and still see the current time?
Yes, you can.
Plastic Back ! Sec hand out of line lol - Pass on this one ... 🏃♂️
I believe the back is non metalic to maximize the charging base effectiveness.
I turned it off at the "plastic back". What?
@Johnny Rebellion I will admit for the price I was surprised it had a plastic back. But wearing it, it doesn't bother me at all. It's comfortable.
How to charge this watch?
Comes with a charger however it charges solar. I have had mine just under 2 years and have not charged it.
PASSWORD TOUCH 6 TIMES TWICE, THEN CONFIRM BY THE CROWN BUTTON
My thing is if it doesn’t pickup health stuff like heart rate and o2 levels it’s not really a smart watch at this point
No smartwatch is able to perform these functions correctly from a medical point of view, in my opinion this is one of the advantages of this watch, it does not try to do something impossible to do correctly, moreover if you are not properly trained in the medical field, you will be unable to analyze this data correctly, even if it was correct.
Sounded way too good to be true. Just bought the watch and having massive problems synchronizing with my phone and getting the compass to work which was the main feature that I needed to work on the watch etc etc right now this watch is not even good as a doorstop!
In my old T-Touch II the compass needs to be set for magnetic declination. There is also a compass calibration procedure. Not sure about these later versions! What does the manual say?
I just bought one of these and I am super disappointed to find out that the app that connects with your smartphone is almost completely useless. I haven't been able to successfully connect and apparently this is the complaint that everyone has. Sure wish they would fix this issue.
PASSWORD IS VERY SIMPLE TO SET.
LOOK UP PASSWORD SETTING. READ THE SCREEN.
For smartwatch functions, I will stick to Apple Watch. For all the other stuff, I will stick with G-Shock.
China thanks you very much
who cares
I have one of these. It looks great but the app is abysmal and it is NOT a smart watch.
Your OCD drives me nuts.
Ha…you could strap the charger to your right wrist, run the cord across your back and shoulders, connect it to the watch on your left wrist and…there ya go…a real solar watch. Oh, and the engraving on the side…always classy. And two whole micro adjust holes…wow! Yeah, this one is pretty hard to resist…. Or, like you say, you could always just look at your phone.
No sirven no se conecta con la app hasta los vendedores de la marcan no lo recomiendan
Shame no heart rate monitor
Yes, that would really be a nice feature. I wonder why they didn't include that?
@@tberfield Battery related. Same as lack of O2, GPS, speaker, microphone, camera etc.
I personally don't want all this. It might just get me worried.
It's a nice watch, but it's pretty dumb to be a smartwatch.
They expressly refer to it as not a smartwatch, but a watch. That’s a feature I looked for when I purchased it - just wanted notifications.
You get a fake one
No
Why would he?
Bizarre comment. What compelled you to say such a thing...
100m is terrible. That bracelet is terrible. That bezel is terrible. That price is terrible. That watch is disposable.
Sorry just not for me.
"The lady doth protest too much, methinks"
Bracelet looks very cheap
