    I would like to add that a big counter to the barbarian is actually incapacitation so resilient wisdom is very good also

    I built a zealot barbarian that took levels in war cleric, some nice synergies with war cleric letting you take bonus action attacks and using their channel divinity to add a plus 10 to an attack ro counter great weapon master

      Absolutely a great pairing! Barbarians will never say no to extra bonk

    you could take orcish fury instead of +1 to strength and +1 to dex

    Thoughts... Instead of taking the Greataxe for the 1d12, taking a Greatsword 2d6 and dipping 1 level of fighter at level 2.
    This allows for a more consistent damage (at level 4) 2d6 GS, plus 1d6 Divine Fury rerolling 1s and 2s.
    Then a critical hit would be 7d6 rerolling 1-2s. Instead of 3d12 + 1d6.
    I think once you unlock your second brutal critical at barbarian level 13 (level 16) it would be worth swapping to a greataxe.

    • @DapperSnapperGaming
      @DapperSnapperGaming  2 года назад +1

      That is certainly more than valid! I believe the Greataxe would take over at higher levels in terms of crits but for now yes the math is slightly in favor of the Greatsword

      I would like to add that maybe using a versatile weapon could prove advantageous, as it could leave you with a free hand to grapple and still attack with. If not grappling use in two hands for GWF and GWM.

    Try to run Scourge Asimar on it. The self inflicted damage of the aura prevents you of dropping out of the rage and the extra damage is ridiculous later on

    • @DapperSnapperGaming
      @DapperSnapperGaming  2 года назад

      This is true. Although don't tell anyone that this got changed in the new book... Aasimar are great for this!

      Hey! I'm actually doing exactly that at the moment! It's really fun so far and I love how it gives me this slow and steady AoE ability! We are playing Curse of Strahd atm and the Needleblights where a really good target for that. Bonus points if you have a Cleric in the group!

      Yeah, scourge should have at least keep the self damage, and maybe ben 2x prof aura. Tbh I'm not even sold on that the half level aura was in need of a nerf, sure maybe having 1/2 level rad damage on both the first attack you land AND on the aura might have been a bit much, especially since there were at least 2 ways to increase a attacks damage by 1/2 lv reliably, 3 including cav but that's more situational.
      Basically I can see some of the assimar nerf, but I feel the aura just took away all the fun mechanical flavor scourge had.

    As a new player I wish you would explain things for example Improved Critical so if I roll 2d20 already would it be then 4d20?
    Sorry I have a learning disability and my reading comprehension isn’t that good so I am using these videos to learn.

    • @DapperSnapperGaming
      @DapperSnapperGaming  Год назад

      Questions like this are what the comment section is for! No need to apologize. Improved Critical simply means that when you roll a d20 for an attack roll, you will get a critical hit if it is a 19, in addition to if you were to roll a 20. It just doubles your chances for a crit. If you had advantage on the attack then you would roll 2d20, and if either of them were a 19 or 20 then it is a crit.

    How are you getting armor at level 1 with a Barbarian?

    • @ryanatkinson2281
      @ryanatkinson2281 2 года назад

      Also super confused how you got to 20 strength at level 8 barb when you started with 17 and took GWM at level 4 barb… not sure how you got to 16 con either when you started with 15. I think you accidentally added +2 strength and +1 con twice. Unless I missed something?

    • @DapperSnapperGaming
      @DapperSnapperGaming  2 года назад

      Armor would be something to gold buy or just pick some up on the way whenever you can afford it. As for the stats, I got a 17 at lvl 1. +2 from my race and +1 from Barb 8. That's 20

      @@DapperSnapperGaming would you do things differently with the ASI's/feats when starting with standard array or points buy? I've been thinking of a similar build but won't have such high lvl 1 stats.

    Why not go full barbarian for that sweet capstone? It's the best among all the classes

    • @DapperSnapperGaming
      @DapperSnapperGaming  2 года назад +1

      I totally agree about that feature. These builds typically are multiclassed just to show an option for you but going full Barb is a very strong option

      @@DapperSnapperGaming I'm thinking about going for something similar next week on our first session, but probably pure barbarian even if we never get that far to see the capstone in play XD.

    Is it just me, or did you make a BIG mistake?
    You can't have a base stat of 17; the max is 15, and with a +2 bonus, that's 17. Not 17 + 2 = 19.
    And if you're doing it that way, the second stat should have a max of 14, and with a +1 bonus, that's 15, not 15 + 1 = 16.
