    I love the lore of this subclass. Basically, you can play a warrior resurrected from death after an aeon of sleep. A warrior who wakes in an unknown age, doesn't know who his enemy is, or who resurrected him. He only knows that if he is alive then there is a new great battle to take part in.

      I'd say it's because a Barbarian is one of the top two tanks in DnD. So if the DM decides to make enemies attack whomever is closest (which is more accurate to real life), then it becomes much more likely for your teammates to go down, even if you as a Barbarian are tanking 3 and the teammates have 1 each.

  • @Nr4747
    @Nr4747 4 года назад +12

    Great video, but, imho, the Zealot should get a 5/5 in terms of combat prowess. You're really underestimating the damage of Divine Fury (which can be radiant damage that is rarely resisted and has neat bonus effects on many undead and fiends), how hugely impactful Zealous Presence is (a full "advantage round" for the entire party and allies is very strong) - and how easily barbarians can fall to non-physical damage while recklessly attacking.
    The mix of up to 1d6+10 extra damage per turn while recklessly swinging a greataxe with Great Weapon Master means that the opponents will - at some point - HAVE to focus the barbarian, who then refuses to die because he keep raging on at 0 HP and has advantage against a Sleep or Charm spell thrown his way.

    They glossed over the barbarian ability to go to one hit point when dropped to zero on a increasing con save plus up to 10 rounds of combat after dropping to 0 gives you up to 14 rounds of combat at 1 or less hp. All the time being able to give people basically smites , Id give that kind of unkillable nature a 5/5.

  • @dyrtybarstud5261
    @dyrtybarstud5261 4 года назад +10

    I really disagree with you guys on the direct roleplay potential of this class. Zealots/Fanatics of any kind offer the MOST direct capacity for RP in D & D. From backstory to how the character goes about his daily interactions and combat are all directly related to the way this character lives the touch of a god.
    With all the different gods out there, there is no limit to how you can derfine what drives the zealot, and the pathway to becoming one offers the opportunity to play almost any way you want to.
    I like the idea of a Zealot that doesnt froth at the mouth when raging, but instead goes into a battletrance praying for the souls of his enemies be delivered from their heresy to the arms of oblivion. Given their dedication to the god, they could have particular daily rituals or rites they perform, and interactive quirks where they can be triggered to attack if something goes against the core of their Zealotry. Their is so much there to play around with in creating a very distinct and interesting character to play with.

    • @URGE

      Hi there! You make some good points, but I’m guessing you’re new to the channel. Thanks for watching first and foremost! When we give our scores for RP, we are already assuming the player will flesh out the character backstory, lore, class fantasy, etc. Our scores are based primarily on the direct Abilities gained from the specific subclass. We decided to do it this way early on because there are a LOT of ways to RP and the potential can fluctuate vastly by player experience. SO, again, our scores are based on the specific abilities of the subclass which is why we say indirect RP (as some subclass abilities can be strictly RP abilities and useless in combat which would be what we consider direct RP. If we did score as you mentioned it could be a higher score for sure, but we are looking at it a little differently :) thanks for watching!

      @dyrtybarstud5261 4 года назад

      @@URGE Yep, you sure are looking at it in a different way. I enjoyed your vid and i think you make interesting and watchable content.
      That being said, that score, and now the description of how you come to it might be something to drop out of your vids. Kind of feels to me as an RP heavy player that you are conflating Mechanics and RP which reduces the `integrity` so to speak of your broader game commentary.
      I like to listen to lots of different ideas around the game so will tune in again to get some more of your thoughts.
      Happy Holidays and hope you have a great year.

      Not immortal, but definitely harder to kill than most. Persistent Rage is something often misunderstood. It doesn’t say you can rage forever. What it says is that it prevents your rage from ending EARLY. Rage only lasts 1 minute. You can bonus action to re-rage as explained in sage advice to extend the duration. There are a few things that can just kill you outright like disintegrate, disintegration ray, shadow dragon breath, mind flayer extract brain, power word kill, etc. Even a plain old sleep spell would kill you if you were at 0 and already failed 3 death saves.
