Class guide #1.7: The Barbarian --- Path of the Zealot (DnD 5e Class)

- Some deities inspire their followers to pitch themselves into a ferocious battle fury. These barbarians are zealots - warriors who channel their rage into powerful displays of divine power.
A variety of gods across the worlds of D&D inspire their followers to embrace this path. Tempus from the Forgotten Realms and Hextor and Erythnul of Greyhawk are all prime examples. In general, the gods who inspire zealots are deities of combat, destruction, and violence. Not all are evil, but few are good.

People give a lot of grief to the Scourge Aasimar, but I think the race was made to pair with the Zealot Barbarian class. The Radiant Consumption deals self-damage, and can therefore keep Rage in effect even if enemies manage to avoid the barbarian for a turn and Healing Hands can be used to restore hitpoints before the rage ends to keep them from dying at the end of the rage even if they're alone.
And the damage output the two makes are so great. Honestly I love how my favorite subrace from my favorite race pairs so well with my favorite subclass from my favorite class
You can say it was a match made in heaven
Zealot is great, I wouldn't call the free healing a cheese though. I am pretty sure anyone with a charisma higher than 9 can convince a cleric who belongs to the same god as the cleric to bring him back.
"This dude died fighting for your god. If you bring him back, he will fight for your god some more. In fact he is marked for combat by the gods, your God has made it so it won't even cost you anything to bring him back, they really want him to do some more fighting"
zealots are literaly expected to die in combat one day thats why gods give you the ability to be revived for free they are literaly saying '' DIE AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT CHAMPION JUST GO BACK TO THE FRAY,,
I kind of like this barbarian from a lore and story standpoint. Maybe if a barbarian wants to change their subclass, they have to find and defeat one of the champions of the gods. That could be a cool quest to send players on.
Zealot Barbarian half orc is wildly powerful and tough
A half-orc barbarian zealot with the Lifewell Tattoo, would literally be too angry to die.
I love the idea of mad Berserkr Zealot of Odinn or Thor.
Honestly my favorite martial class in the whole game.
Really great damage cause it basically gets a free Smite every turn.
About as hard to kill as a Bear Totem and even if you somehow manage to get killed the party can bring you back for basically free.
Great RP flavor, like a very capable divine warrior who just isn't as refined as a Paladin or a Cleric.
Hmmmm having an idea about a cursed barbarian who is forced to fight for the gods and become there champion.
Playing now as a Zealot Barb Half-Orc with Orcish Fury and Tough Feat oh my I fcking love this build.
"Death is only the Beginning" - Drek'Thar Saurfang
I have the exact same build and it is so fantastic by far my favorite character
Pair an acolyte zealot with a life cleric (the cleric probably also takes the acolyte background because cleric) in the party, that zealot is functionally immortal.
Great videos!
Very much looking forward to my 8 charisma Paladin wannabe
Great video
Is my favorite barbarian 100%
I did a Variant human who dual wielded scimitars with martial adept as the free feat for two Weapon fighting. The DM loved duality so we found scimitars that did radiant and necrotic damage. He planned them for our monk (because yin yang) but the monk preferred his staff so he gave them to me
YEEEEEEEEEESSSS! ! !
When someone picks zealot barbarian, why do I hear doom music?
I would love to play an heretic and to me the Barbarian Zealot is the one. Accolite is just perfect to play the borderline crazy and paranoid zealot which strength and fury comes from his mental illnesses.
I would play it as Vhuman or Aasimar.
I can't decide between path of the zealot and path of the ancestral guardian any thoughts ?
bit late but if u wanna defend your party go ancenstral guardian, maybe a bit of druid flavour. No damage boosts though. amazing defender build
zealot barbarian also great for flavour, not dying and doin a little bit more damage. maybe a bit of tank fallacy but pick up polearm master and you should be good
Noot noot
