Hello I am in dappers party, we lived

Best of luck to your party in Curse of Strahd. What a great campaign setting. Love this build.
As far as I can tell Shadow Blade can be combined with Booming/Green-Flame Blades if the Shadow Blade was first cast on a regular weapon that provides the requisite component, essentially shifting the material requirement from the cantrip to the spell . Even Jeremy Crawford seems to be in favor of using them together.
Eldritch knight is perfect for my Earth Genasi fighter. He's basically an X-Men type mutant in D&D only taking spells that expand his earth and fire elemental powers so not remotely optimized but lots of fun to play .

3 levels of wizard added to the EK adds a nice magical boost. One issue with the spell combo in the honorable mention: darkness and shadow blade are both concentration spells. However, as long as someone else has cast darkness, you might as well exploit it, especially if you have Devil's Sight and the shadow blade spell.

Great build with food for thought - the war wizard dip looks like a bit of a classic!
I hate to be that guy, but both hold person and shadow blade are concentration spells… so gotta choose if you are chasing damage or chasing paralysis and auto crits. I think I would leverage hold person - the eldritch strike feature is very compelling with action surge and a decent intelligence.
This also means other options for racial choice and fighting styles - two weapon fighting remains a good option on your non-nova rounds, but just using a shield, a d8 weapon and the dueling fighting style, coupled with booming blade/war magic BA attacks sems pretty reasonable. Superior technique or defence are evergreen. Lots of options and lots of choice!
EDIT: and good luck to your party; I hope they got some great stories out of Ravenloft!

About to play an EK. Using a 2hand maul, booming blade, and great weapon master. The crusher feat pushes back enemies, where they should move back to me and take booming blade damage. Can't wait for level 7 to get a booming blade attack and 2hander bonus action attack!

Always an interesting viewpoint, that causes me to think. Good Luck fools who chose to enter Ravenloft.

Actually you can take Shadow Blade at level 7 because at level 3 you could choose one spell from any school and when you learn 2nd level spells at level 7 you cam swap that 1st level spell out for a 2nd level spell from any school (as per official errata from Wizards).

Booming Blade requires a weapon attack, so you do get to add the dexterity modifier to damage on that.
Fighter 10 doesn't give you an ASI, that's the Rogue's additional one.

bladeward is a great cantrip to use with war magic if you want to take the heat in the front line.

I think I would prefer going with mark of warding dwarf (for armor of Agathys), 11EK 9 abjuration wizard this helps protecting some of your friends too. Grabbing the new bugbear however can be rather satisfying as well. (Oeh 😮😮😮 steel wind strike action surge rinse and repeat combined with ambush attacks added damage)
Edit: alternative build: 7 EK/echo knight (if addicted to damage), 3 gloomstalker, 1 order cleric rest abjuration wizard. Bonus action shadow blade, attacks action surge attacks.

It's not optimal, but I enjoy 3 Artificer (Battle Smith) before EK. I really like attacking with Int. Similar to your starting stats except I cap dex at 14 for medium armor. Then I can boost Int and choose spells with a DC. One stat for attacks and spells is nothing to sleep on.

There is a lot of value there for sure. Less ASI's to try to juggle

Artificer also gets all of the SAD cantrips, so that's fun to use.

I may have missed it but was warcaster chosen or used to be able to cast certain spells with hands full?

Looked into this for Baldur's Gate 3 since it also runson 5e and was wondering:
Is it better to go full Eldritch Knight or should I multiclass a few levels with Wizard?
I know BG3 has a lvl cap of 12 but as soon as I see a mod for the full game that makes the max lvl 20 I will be getting that so any advice for lvl 20 builds are more than welcome.

Wait a minute. At arround 4:25, thats not the standard array

    • @DapperSnapperGaming
      @DapperSnapperGaming  Год назад +1

That's correct. It is modified standard Array. It is what, not only I, but many other people use at tables. I always qualify in my videos that stats may look different depending on method and adjustments may need to be made depending on what method is used at each table

Kender isn’t broken. But it is really badly designed. Too niche and hyper focused and nothing like what the Kender originally was.
Should of had advantage on slight of hand checks or on persuasion checks.

I agree. Kender was kind of broken in the UA but they dialed it wayyyy back

I inspired my eldritch knight from Cless on tales of phantasia and my DM don’t get my references 🥲
