    A ton of people look at Paul for form tips but i feel like he is one of the hardest to replicate with how much body he is compared to arm. Catching up with the arm like that is mega hard. I really like the explanation of the two different styles that OT made relatively recently. Wide reach back is pulling straight, letting the bodyparts almost hand off to eachother in a straight line (shoulder->elbow->hand->disc) and the more rotation based is out-in-out consciously.
    However, i do think that the slower upper body is something that helps regardless of "style" of throw. Great vid!

    • @DiscManiac28
      @DiscManiac28  4 месяца назад +2

      Thank you, yeah Paul’s I think is very hard to copy or duplicate. But I like looking at it in some cases cause he does have good things to look at. There are lots of styles and I try to take some from all to match my form as best as I can…. Or forms I can relate to easier. It’s been a long road changing my form, lol I’m sure in a year from now it will be a little different. It’s good stepping stones in the right direction. :) have a great day

    Excellent observation and not "pulling" the disc into the position.
    I'm guessing all the pros bounce the disc inward.
    The stretched back muscles release, and the disc effortlessly springs toward the chest, true?

    a thought that helped me achieve the same thing.... "watch your toes" untill you've released the disc. Keeping your eyes on a specifc spot on the ground for instance the tip of your toes, keeps your head down and locked from following the disc, and thereby keeping your shoulders in check. That swingthought made instant results for me, for 1 to hit intended lines AND adding massice distance pretty much instantaniously...

    Thanks for this. Your explanation of the back shoulder move is kind of a 💡moment for me. I'd been doing it on standstills to generate a little more arm speed/power without a full reachback/coil. Never thought of incorporating it into my full throw. I picked it up years ago from watching Simon but never understood the 'why?' behind it. You can really see the back shoulder move on his 150ft and 250ft throws in the Slo-Mo video from Overthrow.

    Makes sense with the hand coming through first…I can 360 close to 600 and what I try to do is let my arm go through as soon as I plant from the 360…It’s almost the feeling of hitting a homerun while keeping my head down on the ball so to speak….keeping my head on the ball (so to speak) while letting my arm go through allows me to keep my shoulders back if that makes sense.

    • @DiscManiac28
      @DiscManiac28  4 месяца назад +2

      Yea makes sense to me, 600 ft is a bomb for sure that’s a fantastic distance. It’s funny how it all works, “form wise”. when I started I was trying to throw far and my form was awful and it was Barely making it 300 and I was putting all I had into it, now 300 is super easy.

    I’m glad you have realized where real speed comes from but your analogy of your ‘hand’ needing to go faster than your shoulders is slightly off. Your ‘upper arm’ (elbow) is what you want to focus on. It is called horizontal abduction and is more than 50% of the power to the disc. PS don’t use Paul or Simon as examples. Use GG, AB, Gannon, Hammes or the king-(Wiggins)

    • @Tsukmu
      @Tsukmu 4 месяца назад

      Could you elaborate a little more, why you don't recommend using Paul or Simon as an example? Is it because of the more pronounced elbow action from GG, AB etc.? Do you think Pauls and Simons form is more suboptimal?
