Very helpful ive never done this repair on a small engine my two top rings both had the letter R kind of confusing but i had able to determine which one was which by you description silver ring top black ring second notch 👍thanks a bunch
I ordered a short block gx200 clone and the piston was already installed and the arrow on the piston was pointing up . That's how it was delivered to me
I have a 196 clone and I'm removing the connecting rod and piston to throw some new rings on with a fresh hone. Can i safely reinstall the rod onto the crank, torque it down and go?
What do you mean, you didnt say what engine. Gx200 196 clone or 212 predator. Then you go on the website and shop for your engine. It tells you what parts fit
@@joshuaboey366 Yes, I set my ring gaps 180 degrees apart. and have the end gaps by the pin. This is something that has been debated for years about what is the proper way. This may not be what everyone does, but it works for me.
Just started getting into small engines (and engines in general) and this information was invaluable

I kicked an exhaust rocker following your instructions to the T . Set it at 5 and no problems yet

@ pushrod kicked the rocker off to tight
Thank you sir. I wasn’t sure about which ring went where. Luckily i got that exact type piston. From u. Thx again

I would correct that before running the engine. The pins are offset and the triangle or dot must face the pushrod area

My black ring ( center ring ) doesn't flex at all once installed on piston . Can't depress to install piston into cylinder .
What size do you need for a non hemi rod and piston

I did it myself with the Woodglut plans. I think this is the best way to find out how to build it.
