    'Turbo Teejet' TT
    60" spray (bell curve pattern) at 20" height. Overlap by moving over 20"; follow mow lines.
    (Can spray foliar and systemic at same time if lazy). For 110° nozzles, distance between passes should be equal to your nozzle height off the ground - i.e. if you hold your nozzle 20" off the ground, you should be at 20" between passes
    Droplet size large to small: Floodjet (XL), AIXR (L), TT (M), XR (S)
    XR(C) for foliar contact WHEN ZERO WIND
    TT if slight wind
    AIC/AIXR for systemic/soil
    Turbo Floodjet for gritty biostims
    For products that rely on foliar absorption like PGR, iron, or herbicides, use an XR. XR may be too fine; just do TT (black part pointing down).
    For soil applied products, use an AIXR.

    I just overseeded for the first time and made use of a new backpack sprayer never used before to put down RGS and GreenePop.
    Having only used basic tips on cheap basic pump sprayers I did not really expect to run thru that entire tank so fast and way over applied the RGS (ran out of 2 gallons of water at the 1/8th yard mark when it was supposed to be for the whole yard)
    That was my issue for never having used it before, and also not reading specs on the tip to get a estimate GPM.
    After that initial failure where I had the want low and was trying to cover the entire yard, I instead held the wand up higher and had a very very fast walking pace.
    That was the right pace to get about 2 gallons across 4500sqft on a TF-VP4
    I still had an issue after fixing my user error problem though.
    The nozzle pattern is really random due to the way its made and how big the drops are (plus having to hold it higher to cover the yard fast enough) that is fine for big open yards for products to be watered in, but going around the fence it was terrible.
    I really could not see the spray at all, about 95% of it was in a defined area but a random 5% was invisible and just going further away than really was "in the zone" so... It was either miss a large section of grass or let about 5% of the spray hit the white fence, and RGS stains white fences really bad!
    TeeJet has sooo many nozzles, and many with the large droplets, so I ordered a few random ones to try them out and see if they work better for me. I am just supprised to see with the application rate and the pattern that the TF flood jet is pretty much the most recommended nozzle, as for me it didn't seem like the best choice compared to some of the other offerings.

    I just finished applying fall pre-emergent and post emergent herbicides using a HF140-10 nozzle. HF- high flow, 140- 140 degree swath, and 10- 1gpm. The tip shoots about a 10-12 foot wide swath and for my walking speed, I apply right around 1 gallon per 1,000sqft. For foliar spraying of insecticides/fungicides/ and other -ides, I will use a 11004-VS TeeJet nozzle for most applications. After this season, I think I will toss all my stainless steel nozzles for plastic or ceramic because I've had such an issue with my nozzles rusting this year.

    With the air induction spray, wouldn't you rather want the AIXR11004? Since that is designed for lower PSI use, like a battery powered sprayer?

    • @TheLawnMentor

      Every sprayer has different PSI. I think the one I have goes up to 90 psi on the max mode. But yes, check your PSI and match that to the proper series tip

  • @jasonpakkala9015
    @jasonpakkala9015 Год назад +1

    AI isn't necessarily more coarse. It depends on the nozzle sizes. Floodjet nozzles are great for fertilizer and normally have a much wider angle, like 110 degrees, which is more forgiving with overlap and height. AI nozzles are better for contact fungicides, like Daconil because the droplet is actually a bubble and explodes on contact creating better coverage. I was fortunate to see the results of flood/flat fan vs AI when Syngenta came on site for quality control research at a local golf course. Your results may be a little different because you're using a single nozzle on a backpack sprayer. I normally use 14 nozzles across a boom for golf course applications.

    I’m actually needing to spray some Thompson water sealer on a new fence. I just bought the Husqvarna 4 gallon back pack and it comes with a high volume fan and a low volume fan. Which do you think would be best? Im trying to cover as much fence as possible the most efficiently. Time wise and product wise. Any suggestions?

    • @TheLawnMentor
      @TheLawnMentor  Год назад +1

      I’d start with the low and see how it goes. Can go up from there.

    • @myenglishprofessor9189
      @myenglishprofessor9189 Год назад +1

      Tried both and found that the high volume tip was a bit better. The low volume was too concentrated and I saw pretty quickly that I was losing a lot of product running off, but the Husqvarna manual 4 gallon backpack sprayer worked great with Thompson’ s clear water sealer.
