- I use the bio-stimulant pack of supplements on my lawn weekly, rotating through all 4 products throughout the month. My favorite way to apply these liquids to my 4,000 sq ft lawn section is using my battery powered backpack sprayer. Today, let's talk about how to use a backpack sprayer for such an application and use 0-0-2 MicroGreene as an example product.

Great vid! I’m a warm season guy with Bermuda grass but I still get a lot of tips watching your vids. Keep em coning!
Thanks for letting me know, man! I really appreciate it
Nice job. The tip on how to handle the remaining product in the tank after the first app was helpful.
Glad my little mistake turned into a teaching moment! Sure I’m not the only one.
Great info.. very helpful
Spraying and praying 🙏 The only way to go these days. Well done 👊😎🌴
That's right, brother! I'm thinking of going full liquid next year actually.....
Good stuff!
51 seconds in: the Spoon Juice slap! 5 minutes 53 seconds in: the Ryobi slap! 😂. Great information as always, Kyle! You da man!
That Ryobi looks like a good sprayer. I wish Rigid or Ego would make one already. Good stuff man!
I have been thinking about doing a review of that sprayer 🤔 glad you enjoyed!
Good information. I have the same sprayer. I too would recommend it. It's not my primary, the FlowZone is my main sprayer. I used the following NEXT products this season (Humic, MicroGreene, GreeneEffect, RGS, Air8, and GreenePunch) in my back sprayer. I would highly recommend using a flood jet tip. Also, these products will stain. I was a bit overzealous during an application and combine two of the BIO stims and GreenePunch, I regretted that instantly. The backpack spray was able to pump out the product however, what a mess. It was thick and stained the grass and I had boot prints on my concrete for about 3 weeks. For anybody thinking of using the products in a backpack spray, dilution is key. I have a 15K square foot TTTF lawn and I had to use smaller application rates more frequently to avoid the staining. I do have irrigation, however, the staining was still was present, even after watering immediately after application. In summary NEXT products are great and would recommend.
Great comments! I totally agree. I regularly treat 4,000 sq ft and don’t have problems with it being too thick, but 15,000 is much more! I love the N-Ext products too
Which flood jet tip should I get ?
Depends on your pump’s pressure!
Great video, when you have a chance watch Ron Henry on how to calibrate your backpack sprayer, it's short and sweet. Your yard really looks great 👍👍. Thanks
Thanks! Big fan of Ron’s!
@@TheLawnMentor You're welcome. Thanks
I'm confused with something you are doing. I have a 7000 sqf backyard that I break down into 2k sections. My understanding from Lawn Care Nut videos is to spray the rated application in that area. So 8oz per 1000 you would spray even coverage in that 1000 sqf until tank is empty. You seem to have left half of your product in the tank after you sprayed your section of yard. I also adjust the backpack straps so the filter side is a bit lower on my shoulders . This helps in getting more out of tank.
Great idea with the straps setup. After I made one pass on the yard, I realized my volume of solution and/or walking speed was off and I wasn’t able to get all the product out. So I filled my tank back up with more water to help me carry that product evenly across the yard. Think of it this way: in your example, what if I told you instead to split that 8oz rate into multiple “spray sessions”…do a 4oz, a 2oz and another 2oz - how much water would you put in the tank to mix that? Enough to allow you to walk the area comfortably one time, right? In each case, the amount of water would change. But at the end of the day you would still have 8oz of product on the ground and that’s what you care about. Likewise if you did a 7oz and a 1oz. Does that make sense? It’s about two things…staying within the dilution rate and getting the right volume of product out evenly on the lawn. It doesn’t matter how many times you have to go over the lawn, just that each pass is even
Did you use high pressure or low pressure when you sprayed?
I have always run this sprayer wide open, high pressure
Do you find that the ryobi doesn’t empty product all the way down to bottom of tank ? I am having a problem with mine.
Yes, I always have a little left in the tank. I end up fertilizing some other plant by dumping the leftovers!
Also, check out my other video I have on my channel that reviews this backpack sprayer 🙂👍🏻
so Im just starting up with liquid applications and my fan tip looks like its not spraying a complete solid pattern , could it be because I have it on the lower psi setting ?
Could be clogged also
I have 60,000 sq ft of grass area to spray Prodiamine wdg and triad weed killer. Should I use a backpack sprayer?? I just don’t understand that I’d I need to put down 1.2 oz/1000 square feet…then does that mean I need 60.000 gallons to fill the sprayer thst many times??? Soo confused! Thanks!!!
You could do it in sections and play with the backpack pressures and tips to get a good flow rate so you don’t have to run, but I’d look at maybe a tow behind sprayer instead
so im just starting out using a backpack sprayer and trying to understand this whole ounces per 1k. Now you only used 2 g because of the 7-1 dilution rate ? Because a lot of videos I've been watching theyve been filling it up to 4g??
I don’t pay much attention to dilution rates. If it flows, it flows. 2 things you need to know - how much total volume of liquid it takes to cover your space and your rate. Fill half water, add concentrates, top off to final solution
How much water is required in the backpack? That is the issue I seem to can't find an answer on.
There is no definitive answer. It all depends on your walk speed, size of yard, pump settings, etc. You’ll have to test this out by filling your backpack completely with water and then spraying your entire yard with only water to see how much water it takes to cover your yard. Then, you can create all your cocktails and fill them up in the tank to that same number each time.
In general, 1 gallon of liquid should cover around 1k sq ft
@@TheLawnMentor Thank you
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Great video for a DIY er. You made it very simple to understand.
Damn dude. You think your grass is high enough?
Like snoop dog high?
