Hi! I really think is awasome that you decided to share your opinion, and I get where you are going with this. I agree with you in the aspect that is irracional to hate a character that was raise different, and criticize it for being imperfect. I too notice that scene with Evie where she was clearly unhappy and Evie kind of dismised her feelings. I may be wrong, but as I saw it, people don't hate Mal directly becouse of the the complexity of her character, (or at least that's my case) but because Mal constantly harms others to achieve her goals, and she never faces long-term consequences for her actions, only once she apologizes and the plot conveniently makes things work out in her favor when she has done nothing to earn them. I mean, that the problem is not Mal's toxic behavior, many complex protagonists present toxic behavior, because it is something human. The problem I see is that the plot tries to convince the audience that this behavior has a justification, or is excusable, or there is a good reason to be like that. When it is not. Mal throughout the plot does things that are wrong, but she doesn't seem to learn from them, she keeps doing them because she always gets away with it. She seldom shows true empathy for others, does not do selfless acts for others, etc. Those behaviors are what she should learn to correct in her personal growth process, but she doesn't. And the movie expects us to forgive her just because she's her, she's like that and we should accept her. But as I see it, many of the actions she does are unacceptable. That is my point of view, again, thank you for sharing yours, I belive is important we ask this questions.

However, I also believe that there are quite possibly apologies that could occur in the timeline that are not shown onscreen. Additionally, I have directly seen Mal selflessly act in concern to at least Evie. As just a few examples of Mal's little acts of selflessness and care, Mal reassured Evie that she was perfectly good without a prince, and perhaps more obscurely, Mal pushed Evie behind her when she took on her mother head-to-head. Also, Mal only lied to Evie and the others to protect them and their lives they had in Auradon. But I'm really glad that you responded, and I very much appreciate your opinion. It is very interesting to hear another side of this argument, and I am glad that you took the time to express your viewpoint.💙
@@Cammy_1999 I actually love Irish accents and I think they're a lot cooler than mine, lol 😂💗 Where I'm from, I get made fun of for my accent, so I'd definitely prefer an Irish one.

I agree completely. I don’t understand why so many people like to hate on Mal like I really love her as a character and I definitely don’t see her as some horrible monster. She is human and humans have flaws which is why she makes a few mistakes but all people make mistakes that’s part of life. And people also seem to forget that she had a bad childhood and her mom basically brain washed her into believing that evil and hurting people was right. If you grow up hearing those things and having it drilled in your head everyday then you are going to tend to think that you have to act that way.
Yeah. I love Mal, too. Not as much as I love Evie and Uma, but I really do love Mal a lot. It's strange to me why people want to act like she's this ogre of a person. And I completely agree. She had a horrible childhood, and I think that she's come a long way considering where she came from in the first place.💜
