I taught myself many hacks to push through a full hour of meditation without allowing the voices and visions to suede me into giving up. Ive done 3 days in succession and plan on continuing every day until Im hopefully able to attain the state of mindfulness that I used to have before schizophrenia. This life is aggressive but it doesnt owe you anything. If you're reading this please know that you are way stronger than you could ever imagine. I think it’s really important to build a habit out of meditation. Instead of checking twitter or watching RUclips for 5 more minutes, turn that short amount of time into meditation ✊
Yeah. I've done the same. I meditate a total of 40 mins a day. I'd recommend 'How to develop the habit to meditation' by Utpaal Shah if you want to get into it.
I was taught meditation at my high-school, by my zoology teacher. And it helped me quite a lot, to concentrate, and to make me active all the time. And I believe everyone should be taught meditation at schools, from a young age.

There is no problem, except that you decide to define it as such. Being aware of your thinking is part of the solution. With the right attitude, you can achieve silence. But it starts with non-judgmental awareness. In other words, don't judge it as a "problem."

You see people with anxiety disorders find it very hard, these thoughts that race through your mind at an extreme pace, so much so that u cant even get a moment of peace, yes your advice is sound but some of us lack the innate ability and practice to shut down our thoughts. Sometimes i just wish if there was a switch to turn off, sometimes i just want to sleep without my heart racing, sometimes only thing i want dearly is a moment of silence in there and a night full of sound sleep.

I've lived with this for 20 years. I understand what's happening at the nervous system level as I'm a former brain research scientist. I haven't been able to dampen the worst of it with meditation. Certain types and intensities of pain force their way into your attention. No disrespect to the monk who protested in that manner either. He demonstrated absolute willpower and dedication.

in that case i'm always meditating. I'd say i started when i was about 4 or 5 years old, i remember becoming more aware after a shocking idea entered my head, i started by practicing awareness of myself and my growth or when i made a mistake and often contemplated what was going on around me to a large extent. I think about the bigger picture and have had a bit of fun trying to theorize about how the universe at large operates. I don't think i'm right, but i like the idea of trying to see patterns ,especially ones that repeat or have relationships between large and small at scale, things like how our world on the sub-atomic scale curiously behaves like theories we have explaining how black and white holes operate or share congruencies with things we see on a cosmic scale. It is curious how we may think about ourselves as a spec in the universe at large but draw similarity between things so small we cannot physically see but with complex math and science can measure how they behave and curious yet again that parallel (or seem to be) with how our galaxies and observable universe looks and behaves. To be mindful is also to be in more control of yourself and not becoming a creature of only habit and dying mental or spiritual growth however you choose to see it. Meditation is for everyone and doesn't require anything special other than a mind that is open and a bit of focus. (ADD makes it hard, but if i can do it i think anyone can).
I sat with my eyes closed, tried to control breathing, envisioned myself in happy places and times of my life, told myself I'm grateful for those moments and people, all while breathing and being still. I physically feel calmer.

In the first instance you in a way separate yourself from the object of which you are aware of by being aware of that object. So it could be thoughts body emotions breathing beads mantra etc. Then you become aware that you are aware, whilst watching the continued objects passing by in each moment. Then at some point the object disappears and with it you (awareness). Then you enter a blissful state and after going through that you disappear 100%. If you do that enough of times you will be at some point enlightened.

I saw a still simpler technique. A lot of thoughts come to ur mind. So, instruct your brain to focus on your breathing.. the thots will still go on, but in background. Just focus on ur breath.

Meditation is a very difficult path but the results are awesome and only two requirements of the spiritual path is to have a master a guru and second is your sincere personal effort called sadhna.
My guide would be similar but add in.. Get a cushion and sit on it. Listen to your thoughts.. they're ok!! Listen to the thoughts, move on if you don't like them.. it's amazing how quickly your brain starts telling you interesting things.
I was once told that with patience, you will find that all of these things dissipate over time as they no longer become thoughts of importance in meditation; your mind clears itself.
you don't HAVE to remove distractions. In fact the distractions can be what you are focusing on. I'm not saying watching a video and paying attention is meditation. But if there are sounds around you, you can make that your awareness.

WE were taught meditation in school and none of us use pay attention even for 10 mins but now after meditating those positive changes in me makes me feel our teachers weren't wrong
I do meditation by focusing on my breathe it is so helpful in calm you down and sometimes when I open my eyes after meditate I feel waking up after good sleep with full of freshness and positive thoughts

That's exactly the technique I've learned to teach children meditation. It's not about being quiet and (completely) clearing the mind, but to be aware of what you're experiencing, what you hear, what you feel (e.g. is it warm or cold, windy). It's about concentrating on one thing at a time and experiencing it fully with all your senses.
This is really great..it often happens that we look for our answers in the outer world..bt if we meditate n ask that same questions to ourselves than u'll find the answers within yourself..n believe be this is what I do whn i hav chaos of thoughts in my head i just do the meditation for just 4-5 mins n my mind gets focused again❤ thnku so much Master 4 your teaching 💐

I am a very hateful person. Who has made many mistakes in my short years of life. I’m going to make a change and give myself a fresh start. I want to lose my hinge on worldly possessions and become a happy peaceful person. I’m going to start by meditating. I don’t know what my goal is but i just want to have some moments of tranquility in my very hectic life.

Mr Solitude is correct in his statement. Awareness of being aware of the object you are aware of. Then at some point the object of your awareness disappears along with your awareness.

@@dreamthedream8929 Just describing the different experiences of meditating. In the first instance you in a way separate yourself from the object of which you are aware of by being aware of that object. So it could be thoughts body emotions breathing beads mantra etc. Then you become aware that you are aware, whilst watching the continued objects passing by in each moment. Then at some point the object disappears and with it you (awareness). Then you enter a blissful state and after going through that you disappear 100%. If you do that enough of times you will be at some point enlightened.
When I was young, I would always stare at the art on our plates or patterns on the wall for hours. I didn't know that was already meditation. Thank you for sharing!

I saw a still simpler technique. A lot of thoughts come to ur mind. So, instruct your brain to focus on your breathing.. the thots will still go on, but in background. Just focus on ur breath.
It’s a communication skill with then unknown. It will blow your mind what you can see.

@@ferdinandocoluccelli9574 Ferdinando sir. Its no a very good idea to start meditating on your own by watching you tube videos and agreeing to whatever someone says on meditation. Meditation is a very difficult path but the results are awesome and only two requirements of the spiritual path is to have a master a guru and second is your sincere personal effort called sadhna.
1. Remove Distractions
2. Focus on something whether it’s your breath, mind, or surroundings
My guide would be similar but add in.. Get a cushion and sit on it. Listen to your thoughts.. they're ok!! Listen to the thoughts, move on if you don't like them.. it's amazing how quickly your brain starts telling you interesting things.
I was once told that with patience, you will find that all of these things dissipate over time as they no longer become thoughts of importance in meditation; your mind clears itself.
you don't HAVE to remove distractions. In fact the distractions can be what you are focusing on. I'm not saying watching a video and paying attention is meditation. But if there are sounds around you, you can make that your awareness.

I do meditation by focusing on my breathe it is so helpful in calm you down and sometimes when I open my eyes after meditate I feel waking up after good sleep with full of freshness and positive thoughts
I pursued the "empty your mind" concept of meditation from an early age... To no avail. Eventually I started focusing on my own concept of what meditation was to me. It is refreshing to discover that I have been meditating correctly for decades. Thank you.

Meditation has been the practice that has improved my focus, discipline and composure over time when i had no idea i needed meditation:) its a really great thing to adopt
That's exactly the technique I've learned to teach children meditation. It's not about being quiet and (completely) clearing the mind, but to be aware of what you're experiencing, what you hear, what you feel (e.g. is it warm or cold, windy). It's about concentrating on one thing at a time and experiencing it fully with all your senses.

i have been looking for guidance on meditation, and finally i found this video today, complete and perfect for me. Awareness, clear explanation, yes, to do list pops up in my mind when i meditate, and i can do meditation only when i am travelling in metro,no one to disturb...
I started practicing meditation a few years ago. Now it comes easy. I learned alot about myself in the process and now i try to tell everyone i know they should meditate.
