Great video, I just made this rookie mistake myself. If you're not doing this stuff everyday you tend to lose the knowledge. Watching this helped me out a lot
Great advice, Btw if your sub is not working and the ground is perfect would recommend cleaning the battery terminal and check if the main fuse is connected perfectly. You can test this by using a multimeter and make sure you're getting 12 volts on all your terminals
Three days ago i just put in my first auto system in a 2013 chevy impala by myself n my frist rookie mistake was my ground and now it's sounds beautiful thanks
For everyone still having issues even after everything the sub itself could be short circuited which means u have a to get a new one same thing happened to me and i had to do that
My brother is having this exact issue right now. I haven't looked at it yet, but I'm going to here in a few mins when he gets out of the woods. Just figured I'd start to find an easy solution before I looked at it. He said the place he bought it from and hooked it up for him said he needs a new amp. But, it doesn't make sense to me because it's powering on and not hitting protect mode. If the amp was done for, im pretty sure it wouldn't even kick on or if it would still kick on, I would have to assume that it would immediately gointo protection mode. But, that's what I immediately thought of was he has a bad ground connection. Whether it's just dirty and corroded or whatever or weather it's loose. That was the first thing that came to mind..
So i just installed my set up. Alpine MRV-M250 and a JL 12 in sub in a bassworx box. All new wires and good contact on everything. Not sure what it is, but i get no output, but everything is perfectly fine. Tested perfect, and sub is brand new
I feel like the biggest dummy😅😅 I disconnected my battery few weeks ago. My truck was giving problems so I thought it was about to die completely. Took out my subs along with all my personal belongings just incase I dies on the road & had to leave the truck... Soon as you said rca, my dumb asz knew I didn't hook them back up. I literally just spent 20 mins checking fuses & grounds.. It never dawned on me to check the other side of the amp where the rca was.. I disconnected the rca😢😢 omg I feel so slow right now... Thanks man😊😊
Hi question my subs don’t put out output some are saying it’s my radio others are saying it’s the wires used. I have 2 12s with a 3000 watt amp I used 1500 watt wires 4 gauge
Hey mate, I just want to say a big thank you to you..... After watching your video, I went stright to my car to check the ground and it was indeed bad ground.. I replace that so now is all working .... thx amte
Dude i just finished setting up yesterday and my amp is all good but sub aint doing nothing... i was so sad. I saw your vid and my hopes went up by 100%. Cant wait to go downstairs tomorrow and see if the ground was the problem! I will be back with an update!
@@youngboiwiiki3286 so thankfully this wasn't the problem my ground was steady. But be sure that your cables inside the subwoofer box are connected tightly caused due to the vibrations mine disconnected. A d i had to open the box from behind (unscrewing the power outlet and everything) to check and connect the cables again.
I most likely have the same problem I checked and followed every wire I could have done my own install. I thought my amp was gone but I tried a amp from the pawnshop and same thing. I can try a different ground location but, what I don't understand is it worked for a year where it is now and it's screwed down solid
So it has to be bare metal for ground? Does the self tapping screw need to be like silver or can it be black? I just installed a subwoofer with a built in amp and I followed videos and amp kit instruction and on my ground, I did kind of question my ground as I kind of used a bolt that was already bolted to the cab in my truck from factory cause Surface had paint but inside the bolt thread it was metal. My amp would power on but just like your video, no sound or anything.
What is the best place to connect your ground wire? I have the same issue where everything else is working so it must definitely be the ground. Did I not sand the area properly or what? After you fixed the ground did it work?
so my problem is that my grounds are still very solid, and i have no idea wut it can be. main terminal on the battery is still clean too. they were nicely thumping, and then there was nothing.

Will be testing this out. I thought my amp was gone. No protect mode, the remote wire is getting 2v on the multi meter and if i tap my amp around the connections it will play for a little bit until it hits certain notes and goes out again. Or if I turn my truck off, it won’t turn back on.

what if the power is ran to the alternator?

If the amp has green light doesn't that mean that it's getting power from the battery or can amp turn on just thru the signal cable too
